Don't be afraid no more! Once you read these words, all your troubles concerning Peter Molyneux's Fable will disappear instantly. With this handbook, the long and successful hero's career stands before you as openly as never before. You will not only "finish" the game, but complete it with grace and style matched only by the Arena's greatest legends. Secrets, keys, legendary weapons, you'll find everything you need in here - and perhaps even a little bit more. Take your place, then, and don't waste any more time. Time is money, they say, and you have yet to become a hero that has any.
Albion World Map
The process of hero-building sure is one of the strongest points of the game, as only some of his statistics are under our direct control, while all the others are merely effects of our actions. When it comes to behavior, everything is in your hands. Whether you want to be an honorable protector of the weak or a horned demon of destruction, just go ahead and do your thing.
The basic statistics that we can control through the green portal in the Heroes' Guild determine the gaming style we prefer. There are 4 different types of experience in the game: general (visualized by green orbs left by slain enemies), melee (gained by attacking enemies with melee weapons), Skill (the same, but with ranged weapons, plus the use of stealth abilities), and Will (rewards the use of magic). The hero can be brought up in these three disciplines, as we spend the experience points to learn new skills and upgrade the ones we have already gained.
A noble knight or a gruesome demon? Everything depends on you.
Let's state the obvious - Fable is a game that enables you to create a completely all-around hero and maximize all of his stats. Achieving this doesn't even require the use of any particularly malevolent tricks (which are quite common as a result of unusual game saving system).
The most essential thing about gaining gigantic amounts of experience is the so called Combat Multiplier. All the XP we gain is multiplied by this number, which raises fast when we deal lots of damage and are engaged in some heavy fighting. The problem is, each time we are hit it tends to fall rapidly. And here comes our favorite Will ability, the Physical Shield (in most RPGs known as the Mana Shield), which causes mana to drop instead of health when an enemy gets us. While it's on, we are able to rocket our Combat Multiplier without any problems. The last thing we need is a place, where enemies respawn as instantly as possible. Try the Undead, which appear in cemetery areas north of Bowerstone.
When your Combat Multiplier equals like 125, you can max out all your stats in half an hour. Our protagonist's appearance depends on a few factors. The most basic ones are alignment (good or evil) and age - rising each time we spend our experience points on some abilities (the maximum age level is 65, we don't age any more once we are that old). There is a possibility to lower your age twice in the game. You'll find the full info in bronze quests' section, Temple of Avo and The Chapel of Skorm.
Other stats that play an important role in our hero's virtual life are attractiveness and scariness. They determine other Albion inhabitants' reactions for your presence. The main way to change their values is to take care of your clothing, haircut and tattooing. It's up to you, whether you want to be feared or loved.
There are a lot of interesting things we can do in Albion and the freedom we have in the game isn't limited only to different ways of solving the quests. When you get tired of completing missions, nothing stands in your way just to wander around and take care of your own business and become a full-time inhabitant of the fantasy world of Fable.
Expressions - your main way of communication with all the NPCs that can't be interacted with directly. Through the whole game you learn more and more gestures, which enable you to make civilians tremble in fear, fall in love with you or just stare and adore your greatness. Evil characters learn some different expressions than the good ones (that means that if you want to get all of them you have to become both completely good and evil, not simultaneously of course).
Marriages - the more you raise your Attractiveness meter, the easier it will be to attract Albion's women and men (yup, homosexual marriages are legal in here). When you see a person that finds you somehow attractive, you will notice a small heart above his/her head. You can make the heart grow bigger by performing certain expressions and giving gifts. Once it's fully charged, feel free to propose using the wedding ring. Being married doesn't have any influence on the rest of the game, but it seems a nice experience. And you can have sex, too. Be warned, though, as when you treat your sweetheart badly, you'll surely be divorced sooner or later.
Owning a house - you can find a house ready to be bought in every bigger town in the game. Once you decide to pay for it, you can either rent it or use it yourself. In fact, you can eventually buy almost every building in the game, including taverns and shops. Only thing you have to do is to get rid of the current owners. Once they're gone, their house will become available to be bought.
Hazard - when you master these simple mini-games, found in every tavern in Albion, you will get yourself quite a decent source of money. The 'Find the Hero Dolls' quest is based on them, also.
Fishing - the fish we catch can be used in Fishing Competition (Fisher Creek). Besides, you will surely encounter recognizable 'bubble' spots on the water, which indicate some special items to be found in there, ex. Silver Keys or potions. Always remember to use them all, no point missing them. Fishing itself is a simple mini-game, in which you have to click the mouse when the fish doesn't pull the string and let go when it does. You'll understand when you see it for yourself.
Digging - when you stand at the spot where something is buried, the spade will appear as one of the default items to use with F1-F3 keys. Most of these spots are mentioned in this guide, either in the Silver Keys section or by the quests.
As you surely know by now, there are three basic ways to defeat enemies in Fable: melee, ranged and magic, here known as Will. The difficulty level of the game is quite low, so you should manage to do just fine no matter how you spend your experience points. Try to keep in mind a few hints, though.
Melee - the easiest and simplest method of exterminating everything that stands in your way. It's important to learn how to dodge attacks (block + directional key), as they prove essential in some places of the game, mostly boss encounters, where you have to move quickly to be able to strike the enemy's weak spot.
Ranged - once you get your Accuracy high enough, you can eliminate virtually everything using your bow only. Yes, I mean bow, as the crossbows in the game are pretty weak and hard to aim in FPP view (camera problem). Just get yourself the Skorm's Bow (The Chapel of Skorm quest) and you're free to go when it comes to ranged combat. Remember you can perform headshots on some of the weaker enemies (ex. bandits).
Will - when investing experience points in magical spells, don't ever forget that there's quality over quantity. It's a lot better to master 3 or 4 spells and raise their level high enough than to operate with a handful of weak and untrained ones. Spells you should take a closer look at are: Enflame (will get you through 90% of the boss fights), Multi Strike (ingenious spell when you are strong with melee - gives you up to 5 unblockable hits each time you cast it onto your sword), and Physical Shield (Combat Multiplier trick, explained above). Also, consider to get at least 1st level of Heal Life, as it's very handy in the escort-like quests (those NPCs die so easily, don't they?).
During your voyages throughout Albion, you will find these enchanted passages indicated on the minimap with a violet dot. In most cases solving the door's riddle is not necessary to finish the game, but by doing so you can gain some interesting legendary weapons and other worthwhile bonuses. Be sure to spare some time to access them all, then.
1. Heroes Guild
Use the Lantern on the door, and the Elixir of Life will be yours.
2. Greatwood Caves
To get through this one, you must interact with the door with your combat multiplier of at least 14. It isn't too easy while you're early in the game, but most certainly worth the effort, as passing this test gives us Cutlass Bluetane, one of the best melee weapons out there. If you manage to get it while still being a freshman, you surely won't be changing weapons any time soon.
The easiest way to pump the multiplier high enough is to enter the nearby Hobbe Cave, using the aforementioned Mana Shield trick to avoid being hit. Keep in mind that your combat multiplier is halved each time you walk from one area to another, so it'll have to be about 25 while you leave the cave. If you lack a level or two, there are likely to be some respawned monsters near the Demon Door when you return.
3. Greatwood Gorge
This door, keeping you away from the legendary Wellow's Pickhammer, requires you to perform some kind of exceptionally evil deed in front of it. It can be literally anything, what gives you a large amount of negative character points, such as killing an innocent (aren't any in the vicinity, though, so you'll have to "follow-me"-him from another area). Also, you can just have a lot of Crunchy Chicks while facing the door. When you're totally evil, the door just lets you through without forcing you to do anything.
4. Rosewood Cottage
In order to open this one, you'll have to satisfy it with a gift of some sort (roses or chocolates do the job done). Your reward will be the Bright Will User's Suit, pretty cool looking. Btw. "oh, you really know how to treat a door" rules.
5. Darkwood Marsh
You'll have to defeat some Hobbe guards, nothing complicated really. You'll get Dark Will User's Suit for that one.
6. Darkwood Bordello
Well, this door opens only to the ones who have certain sexual experience. Just get laid 10 times and you're in. The nearby Bordello will make it all too easy. Do the thing, and the gorgeous Pimp Hat will be yours.
7. Barrow Fields
This one sure doesn't like 'bony adventurers', so just eat a lot of goodies, become a fatty and you're done. Inside you'll find a Will Master's Elixir.
8. Abandoned Road
This door is waiting for some people to appear in front of it, and will open to you only when you disguise as three of them in three different outfits. Just wear Bright Plate Mail, Dark Will User's Suit and Bandit Suit and off you go. The first one is to be bought in the Arena, the second one is in Demon Door #5. You'll surely have the Bandit Suit completed by now. Dollmaster's Mace awaits you inside.
9. Knothole Glade
Just hit the door with your bow as hard as you can. Just get close enough, aim at door's lips or eyes and let the arrow go in the right moment. You'll get an Elixir of Life.
10. Grey House
This door will open only if you marry Lady Gray (a quest called Mayor's Invitation, explained closely in the subquest section). Ronok the Axe is inside for you.
11. Necropolis
This one is tricky, as the door wants you to give it ALL of your silver keys. You won't be getting them back. It's better to wander around and get all of the Silver Chests first, then you can handle the keys with no hesitation. The weapon that awaits you inside, The Bereaver, isn't nothing special, though (especially if you have Solus Greatsword, and shame on you if you don't).
Apart from the ones above, there are some other Demon Doors found in the game, but opening them is necessary to complete the game, so we'll take care of them in the gold quest walkthrough.
Silver Keys can be found in various places in all Albion. Mostly you'll have to fish or dig them out. They are often hidden in water, in places indicated by recognizable bubbles, or below the ground level, in flowery circles. In other cases you just have to stick your nose practically everywhere.
The only purpose the Keys have is to open Silver Key Chests. Each one of them has a number on it - it indicates the number of keys required to open it. The keys don't 'disappear' after use, so when you have 20 keys in your inventory, you can open all the chests that require less than 21 of them. The Chests contain some of the most valuable items in the game (including legendary weapons, special armors and some neat potions), so be sure to check them out.
1. Lookout Point
You'll find a bush that can be cut in the center of the area. The key is right behind it.
2. Bowerstone South
Enter the tailor's shop and go upstairs, the key is on the balcony.
3. Greatwood Lake
It's right near the broken bridge.
4. Fisher Creek
Fish it from one of the bubble-points on the lake.
5. Orchard Farm
Fish it from the pier in the eastern part of the map.
6. Guild Woods
You'll have to fish again, this time it's in the lake nearby the Guild.
7. Darkwood Lake
Use the bow to hit the opening in the mysterious stone in the middle of the area, and the key will be yours.
8. Ancient Cullis Gate
Use your fishing rod on the bridge in the western part of the map.
9. Grey House
Fish it out near the Demon Door.
10. Memorial Garden (Oakvale)
You'll find this key while doing the Treasure of the Ghost Pirate Quest. It is buried near the axe-wielding statue.
11. Oakvale
You can win this one in Chicken Kicking Competition (you score has to be between 150 and 250 pts.)
12. Rose Cottage
Dig in the flower circle near the cottage.
13. Hobbe Cave
Dig in the mushroom circle in the large room where you find the missing boy in Hobbe Cave quest.
14. Twinblade's Camp
Dig in the flower circle in south-western part of the area.
15. Witchwood Stones
Fish it out near the Demon Door.
16. Witchwood Lake
Dig next to the red-glowing statue.
17. Knothole Glade
Use your shovel in the plant circle between two houses in the southern part of the town.
18. Windmill Hill
Dig it out from the circle of flowers next to the cottage.
19. Windmill Hill
The same thing as with key #18, except the circle is near the windmill this time.
20. Headman's Hill
Fish it out from the pond you fall into while fighting Thunder (you must be doing the Lady Gray quest).
21. Bowerstone Manor
Examine Lady Gray's bed (doh).
22. Lychfield Graveyard
Dig it out from one of the graves in western part of the map.
23. Lychfield Graveyard
It's in the sarcophagus in one of the crypts.
24. Lychfield Graveyard
Fish it out from the muddy pond in the center of the map.
25. Cliffside Path
It's buried in the circle of red mushrooms on the northern edge of the map.
26. Hook Coast
Examine the cabinet inside the lighthouse (you have to slam the door).
27. Fisher Creek
You can win it in Fishing Competition (look in the bronze quests' section).
28. Bowerstone South
Just donate 25 books to the school in the Book Collection quest.
29. The Lost Bay
Dig it out of the grave near the 30-key chest.
30. The Necropolis
Use your fishing rod in the river, near the broken bridge.
1. Heroes' Guild - 20 keys - The Murren Greathammer
You'll see this one almost at the very beginning of the game. You won't be opening it anytime soon, though.
2. Greatwood Lake - 5 keys - Elixir of Life
It's right in the middle of the area. When you get there, you should already have the required number of keys.
3. Cave Larder (inside Hobbe Cave) - 5 keys - Will Master's Elixir
Enter the second door (on the left) from the Cave Entrance.
4. Darkwood Lake - 15 keys - Arken's Crossbow
The Crossbow we find here is quite nice indeed, but it doesn't stand a chance when compared to Skorm's Bow.
5. Grey House - 10 keys - Sharpening Augmentation
Go to the abandoned cottage and upstairs.
6. Witchwood Cave - 15 keys - Health Augumentation
It's in the cave where you found the missing Archaeologist.
7. Headman's Cave - 15 keys - Mana Augumentation
You'll get to this one only while performing the Mayor's Invitation quest. It's in the cave, when you cross blades with Thunder.
8. Bowerstone Manor- 15 keys - Katana Hiryu
You'll have to either marry Lady Gray or expose her evil deeds and become a mayor to get in here (bronze quests' section).
9. Circle of the Dead - 10 keys - Piercing Augumentation
This one is easy to find, you'll surely see it while following the Graveyard Path quest.
10. Hook Coast - 15 keys - The Murren Greataxe
It's at the top of the lighthouse.
11. The Necropolis - 25 keys - Archons armor
It's near the river, on it's western side.
12. The Lost Bay - 30 keys - The Avenger
You would really expect a 30-key chest to contain something cool. The legendary sword Avenger, however, isn't anything special at all.

The rewards mentioned next to the quests' names mostly indicate the amount of Renown and Gold given to you from the Guild for the fact of completing them; there are a lot of experience and alignment points, weapons and items to be obtained during the quests, but their amounts depend on your decisions and actions. The renown and gold values written below are only some kind of minimum, then. You mostly get a lot more for completing the mission than this.
These missions are called "optional quests". You agree to do them by taking the certain Quest Cards from the Guild. They are mostly rewarded with Renown and Gold. They're mostly quite simple and short, so it pays off to do them all. There aren't many of them after all.
Doing the blue quests gives you positive alignment points.
Doing the bronze quests gives you negative alignment points.
Doing the black quests is either neutral to your alignment or so flexible, that the type of points you get varies depending on the actions you take.
These quests are found throughout all Albion and mostly require you to solve some local people's problems or just collect some useful stuff. Nothing big, really. We don't get any Renown or Gold from the Guild for completing them. In most cases the rewards are worth the time, though
Your first goal is to gather 3 gold coins and buy a birthday gift for your sister. This quest is supposed to show you how flexible the game is, so there are several ways of solving it.
Behind one of the cottages you will find a couple, obviously making out. Talk to the man, he's cheating on his wife. You can agree to keep your mouth shut for an amount of money (evil solution) or go to the betrayed woman (she's on the main square of the town) and tell her the truth. The first gold coin will be yours either way.
You can get the second one from the man asking you to guard the barrels. Be a good boy and do the job or listen to the little shuck and destroy them all. You won't be getting any money for the second way, though.
You will meet a girl who will ask you to find her teddy bear. He's being, uhm, held captive by a little guy in the eastern part of the map. He's having a problem himself, being threatened by a malevolent bully, whom you can support by hitting the other fella, taking the teddy and giving it to the bully). The other option is to hit the bully and take the teddy bear to the little girl.
Once you have enough money, buy chocolates from the local trader and go to your sister, playing in the field. When you give her the gift, all hell will break loose.
Oakvale has been attacked by a group of bandits. Find your father's body, indicated by a green dot on the map. There you will meet Maze, member of the famed Heroes' Guild. He will help you to safety.
You will be escorted to the Heroes' Guild itself, where you will face the Guild Master and begin hard training under his eye.
Before you go to the teacher and start to learn how to fight, talk to one of the two apprentices arguing about who's the fastest student of the guild. You can beat his record, just run to the Demon Door (violet dot at the southern end of the map) and back.
Talk to the Guild Master to start your training. Hit the dummy 7 times, and you will get a wooden bar. Repeat. GM will tell you to go to Guild Woods and take care of some beetles. Once you're done, talk to him again and agree to advance to the next phase.
Go to the training area again. This time you will train hitting and blocking together with Whisper. Next, you will have a little sparring fight. After the Guild Master is gone, wait for the black-hooded teacher to appear. Talk to him and take the test. If you fight Whisper and get an A+, you'll be rewarded with the Katana.
You will have to go through similar training procedures concerning ranged weapons and Will using (you can take additional tests each time for some handy rewards). Guild Master will tell you that you're ready to graduate. Don't agree yet, as there are some things to do first. Next to one of the bridges is a mysterious apprentice who'll tell you to get rid of the birds around the guild. Shoot them with your bow (you'll get some evil points for that). Pay Whisper a visit in Guild Woods. You'll have an opportunity to slay your first bandits. Once you're done go back to the Guild Master and finalize your training. Your final exam will be to go to Guild Woods again and 'fight' Maze there - meaning hitting him a few times every way possible (melee, ranged, Will). Finally, you'll become a fully legal and mature hero. Well, that wasn't too hard, was it?
Reward: 200 Renown, 500 Gold.
GM will give you some info on leveling up and using the quest card system. Approach the Map table and take the card Wasp Menace (the other ones aren't even real quests, and they're just there to show you that other heroes have things to do as well). Leave the guild.
While making your way to the Picnic Area, you can stop by to solve a little argument between a beggar and yet another bully. Depending on who you want to support, barf on the beggar or fart in front of the bully. That's tough hero's life it is.
Once you're in the Picnic Area, you'll have to fight a number of rather harmless wasps. It's best to use melee weapon against them, it's the fastest way. When you kill them all, a Queen will appear. Use your bow to bring her down. Remember to use it correctly - the longer you hold the fire button, the more damage the arrow does. After a few hits the monster will eventually fall and you'll be getting your first applause.
Head to Bowerstone South and talk to Maze who is waiting for you near the Inn. Once you're left alone, spare some time to look around the city and perhaps agree to do some subquests (you'll find them in the bronze quests' section).
Reward: 400 Renown, 1000 Gold.
Once you're back in the Guild, you will be able to choose which side you want to take in the next quest: the bandits or guards of the farm. In both cases you will be facing Whisper as your opponent.
Defending the farm is an easy task. You just have to slay all the bandits that approach it. When performing the raid, you'll have to escort the bandits to the crates they want to steal and then out of the area again - 3 times.
You will have to fight Whisper again, no matter which side you're on. This time you will learn how to flourish - perform a special, powerful attack that breaks the opponent's block. The mission ends as soon as you defeat her.
Reward: 500 Renown, 2000 Gold.
It's time to head a little bit further to the south. Your goal is to escort two traders to Barrow Fields through Darkwood.
Very soon after talking to the traders, you will meet a wounded man that asks you to let him join your party and venture together. Rejecting him will give you some negative alignment points, and if you decide to take him you'll have to fight him at the end of the mission. He's infected with the Balverine disease and will morph into one of them.
Darkwood, Darkwood Marshes, Darkwood Lake, Darkwood Camp (you can get some supplies in here), Ancient Cullis Gate, Darkwood Weir - these are the regions you'll have to cross in order to get the traders safely to Barrow Fields. When you see white mushrooms in your way (shown at the screenshot below), shoot them with an arrow. Balverines are much tougher than Hobbes, but aren't a real threat for you as long as you have some potions ready.
By the end of your journey, you will encounter a mini-boss, an Earth Troll. Dodging is very useful against this guy, as you might get hit by his rock attacks if you don't move fast enough.
When the Troll falls, go to Barrow Fields at last and finish the mission.
HINT: It's good to return to the North crossing the Darkwood regions again, as there are some interesting things hidden in there (silver keys, chests, demon doors), which you supposedly missed due to the traders' company.
When you enter the village of Oakvale, you'll face a little flashback. Maze, who is awaiting you in front of the Inn, has another piece of info for you. You'll have to find the Blind Seeress in Twinblade's Camp. She might know something about your sister.
Reward: 1000 Renown, 4500 Gold.
There's a cave on the western Oakvale beach, which leads to the bandit camp's entrance. You will have to sneak past the guards without being seen. Using the Sneak option (Caps Lock by default) seems senseless in here, as it's a lot easier to maneuver between them while normally running. You can also raise the alarm on purpose (approaching one of the guards) and hide behind a rock to the left of the gate. The guards will pass by and you'll be free to enter.
The next area will require some heavy fighting will a handful of enemies. You'll find some chests containing the Bandit Outfit around here. Complete the whole set, wear it, and continue to the east.
Once you're inside the camp, you'll have to get a pass in order to enter the inner circle. You can win it in Spot the Addition or buy it from one of the bandits. In Twinblade's Elites you'll find another gate which requires some kind of trick to go through. You can hire three assassins in black (southern part of the map) to form a diversion that will attract the guards or kill the bandit guarding the female slaves (south-eastern corner of the map) and release them. The effect will be identical: you'll be able to get into Twinblade's Tent.
After a short cut-scene you'll be facing Twinblade himself. The key here is to dodge his attacks and roll behind him each time he buries his blades in the ground. Hitting him then is the only way to harm the behemoth. He will be defeated after a few hits like that.
Well, the Seeress indeed has information about your sister - in fact, she IS your sister. She will grant you some family powers and then leave, and you will have to make a decision whether to kill Twinblade (evil) or just leave (good).
Reward: 1200 Gold.
Go to Maze's chamber in Heroes' Guild. He will ask you for a favor. You have to find a man known as the Archaeologist. He's lost somewhere in Witchwood. You'll get there using the teleport.
When you're there, follow the direction pointed by a golden dot on the map. You'll encounter a new type of enemy in here, the Rock Troll. He's easy to kill using the jump-attack-jump back technique. When you're in Witchwood Stones, you'll see the Demon Door which will open only to people who know its true name. You can get it from a guy next to the Temple of Avo for a ruby, or just get it from the guide - it's H-I-T-S. Hit the enchanted stones near the door in that order and it will stand open before you.
HINT: If you enter the word S-H-I-T, you will be attacked by two Balverines, shame on you ;-)
Inside the cave you'll meet the Achaeologist. He isn't very happy about being found. He was hiding in there from some evil forces trying to get him. Once he leaves, look around the room. You'll find some interesting stuff in here.
Reward: 800 Renown, 6200 Gold.
The village of Knothole Glade is closed from everyone because of a threat of a monster know as the White Balverine. Go to the Guild and take the corresponding Quest Card. When you return to the city gates, you'll have to defend some peasants from 3 or 4 Balverines. Then you'll be finally able to enter the town and will encounter the White Balverine for the first time.
Hit this beast 10 times. You can't hurt it, but it'll retreat. Knothole Glade Chief will tell you about a hunter who once lived in this town and who knew how to kill it. His wife lives in a house in south-eastern part of the area. Once you're there, the Balverine will attack again. Hold him off one more time and the widow will tell you what's going on (the White Balverine is her husband) and give you a Silver Augumentation, which will enable you to harm the beast once you put it into one of your weapons. Do this and go to Witchwood Lake to face the monster one last time.
White Balverine will call some reinforcements (regular Balverines) a few times during the fight, but try to focus your blows on him. He won't last long and you'll return to Knothole Glade as a Balverine slayer.
Reward: 2000 Renown, the amount of Gold varies depending on how long you last without retreating to the back room.
Your successes throughout Albion have earned you a pass to the Arena. Head its way once you take the Quest Card.
The guard will let you in when you talk to him. He'll tell you some interesting things about Arena's history. You'll enter the Arena Anteroom, where you can get some supplies and prepare yourself. Equip a lot of potions and perhaps buy yourself a better armor. You'll be encouraged to enter the Arena in a few moments.
The battle consists of nine rounds. Making your way through the first one earns you 100 Gold and the stake is raised after each one of them, unless you decide to head back to the back room and recover. In that case the counting will begin from 100 Gold level again.
Each round makes you fight against 4 waves of enemies. In the first one it'll be bees, in the second - Hobbes, in the third - Balverines (you'll joined with Whisper then), in the fourth - the Undead, in the fifth - Bandits. The sixth and seventh round see you struggle against Earth and Rock Trolls.
The eighth round is a boss fight against the Scorpion King. He isn't tough at all if you know how to dodge. His weak spot is the green light on his head. Strike it whenever you can, trying to roll in and out of the claws' range.
As you might have guessed, it's not the over yet. Your final test will be to confront Whisper one last time. She's gotten better than the last time you fought her, but still shouldn't be a problem. When you hit her a few times, she will give up. You can either leave the Arena (good) or finish her (evil). You'll get some more Gold if you choose the second way.
HINT: If you choose to let Whisper be, you'll meet her in Oakvale inn and find out that she decided to quit the hero job and leave for her distant homeland. That's the last time you see her.
Reward: 500 Renown, 7000 Gold.
Theresa is waiting for you in Gray House. You'll get some more in-depth information about your family's history from her and find out that Jack of Blades is apparently the one to blame. You have to find the Archaeologist again. Go to the Guild and take the Quest Card.
You'll begin this mission north of Bowerstone. You'll have to cut your way through Bowerstone Jail, Windmill Hill, Gibet Woods and Prison Path, facing a new type of enemies, the infamous Minions. You'll have to be quick once you enter Prison Path. Don't fight anyone, just run to the Archaeologist (he's at the end of the path, at the pier) and kill the Minions there. The Archaeologist will be free and he will gratefully tell you about a secret passage to Bargate Prison.
Reward: 200 Renown, 1500 Gold.
The secret path to Bargate Prison, where your mother is being held captive, leads through Lychfield Graveyard. Head that way and talk to the gravekeeper. Take an ancient helmet from his house. It's a part of an armor of an ancient knight known as Nostro. You have to find all the parts of the outfit and take it to the crypt at the eastern end of the cemetery. Only this way will the Demon Door open before you. You have to search through the whole graveyard to get them: dig through all the graves (in places where your spade appear as one of the default items under F1-F3), open the crypts and fish in the river (at the bubble spot).
Nostro will open the path before you. The next area is quite a nice place to pump up some experience points (check the beginning of the guide). Eventually you'll get to the Circle of the Dead. Go into the green light in the middle. The Undead will appear. They materialize after entering the circle, so just wait for them to come closer and then attack. In the next 'round' you will face 3 stronger and bigger skeletons. Once you kill everyone, the Prison Path will be open.
It's time to enter the Prison and free your mother, the legendary Scarlet Robe. Make your way through several levels of dungeons, fighting the Undead and some guards. The route is simple, just go straight ahead. When you enter your mother's prison cell, examine the lever and head back. Jack of Blades will appear before you. This time he doesn't even try to hide his evil intentions. You'll wake up in a cell, without your equipment and Will abilities.
The prisoner from the next cell will give you some background on the situation. The annual prisoner race is about to begin. The winner is granted an audience in the warden's office, where the cell key is.
The race is very simple, just run straight ahead in the direction pointed by the guards. When you win and find yourself in the office, he'll start to read some poems of his to you. Turn Sneaking mode on and use the opportunity to sneak to the announcement board, read the code and head to the desk. Open one of the books. Whoops - that's not the right one. You've won yourself a year in the torture chamber.
One year later, another race is being held. Repeat the whole operation. This time you should get the right book and be able to open the cell when you are back in it. You can free the other prisoners or leave them, it doesn't really matter. When you leave the cell block, run to the east, to the barracks. You'll find you missing belongings in there. Go back to the torture chamber and free your mother using the lever again (I suppose you'll enjoy killing all the guards on your way). Run away the same way as before.
At the end of your way, in a big room with a water basin, a boss fight awaits you. This time it's a squid-like monster Kraken. First you'll have to take care of its tentacles. Wait for one of them to try to hit you, dodge, and then hit it. When you destroy all of them, the creature's head will come out of the water. Attack it as you will, trying to avoid the green laser beams (not very harmful, though). Once its health bar is half way through, the whole process will have to be repeated. When the monster drops dead, you'll be finally able to leave the darn place and be free again.
Reward: 500 Renown, 4200 Gold.
Go to Ancient Cullis Gate in Darkwood. The portal will activate itself once it's fed with enough undead souls. No problem, just slay them until it's on. After a few moments you will find yourself in the frozen land of Hook Coast.
There are a few things to do around the town - check the secrets part of the guide. When you want to continue the quest, reach the place indicated by a golden dot on the map. It seems someone formed a magical barrier in here and you can't pass through here. Teleport yourself back to the Guild and go to Maze's room. Your mother has been kidnapped by Jack again! Take a book from the table and go talk to Guild Master. He will tell you, that if you decide to continue the quest, you will have to abandon all the other tasks (that means all the silver quests in your journal will disappear and you won't be able to complete them). Agree and take the Quest Card once you're ready.
Reward: 1500 Renown, 16000 Gold.
After taking the Quest Card teleport back to Hook Coast. The city is under Screamer attack. Once again go to the magically sealed passage, fighting them off. Guild Master will read the incantations and it will open. You will encounter Maze in there, who apparently betrayed the Guild and joined Jack's side. Theresa will free you from his magical chains and you'll have to fight the him. Don't attack him when he has Physical Shield on, it will wear off in a few seconds. Focus on dodging his attacks, and hit him as hard as you can once the shield is down. The evil sorcerer will teleport himself a few times to different parts of the area. When he's in the lighthouse, you'll have to smash the door with your sword. When you eventually defeat the fallen Hero, he'll start to have second thoughts about his betrayal, but will die nonetheless. It's time to find out if you really are capable of stopping Jack of Blades.
Reward: 800 Renown, 5000 Gold.
You have to follow the script's string and chase Jack throughout Albion, always being one step behind him. You don't have to fight any of the monsters you see, just make a run for the golden dots on your map. Jack activates all the Cullis Gates and theoretically becomes invincible. Yeah, right. When you reach the Guild, the wounded Guild Master will tell you to go to the underground chamber, where you will have to face the Hero of Heroes himself.
Reward: 4000 Renown, 20000 Gold.
First you have to kill some Minions. When they're dead, Jack will deactivate his shield and engage in a duel with you. He is tough, but if you remember about quick dodging and magic use then he shouldn't last long. When you harm him bad enough, he will start to float in the center of the hall and you will have to continue the battle with ranged weapons or Will. Jack will summon some more Minions, but they're no real threat. This phase is easier than the previous one, and the whole so-called "final battle" can be won without drinking a single potion.
Once Jack is defeated, you will have to make an essential choice: toss the Sword of Aeons into the vortex or kill your sister with it, gaining the power Jack dreamed of (there is also a third way - just leave the room, without doing any of the above). As always the choice is up to you.
HINT: Killing your sister will automatically make you an evil character, no matter how good and noble you are now.
Well, here's where the original Fable ended. Luckily enough, The Lost Chapters offers some more adventures ready to be had.
Reward: 250 Renown, 5000 Gold.
A year has passed and your life has become a little bit normal than before. One day, when visiting your mother's grave in Oakvale, you are contacted by the Guild Master and told that there have been disturbing news from Scythe, a half-undead hero guarding the far north. Go to the Lookout Point and see what's going on.
Scythe tells you that the world is threatened by the awakening of terrifying creatures known as the Summoners. He needs help dealing with this threat in the Northern Wastes, and the only way to get there is to obtain an artifact known as the Fire Heart. You will find it behind the awakened Primal Demon Door just next to the boasting portal. Don't hesitate to enter.
Inside, in the Fire Heart room, you will be forced to solve a simple puzzle. Each time you step on one of the squares on the floor, you change its color - to orange (sun) or blue (moon). In every round you have to change all the squares into one type. If that will be blue, one of the Prophets will die, if orange - he will be freed. It's up to you, again, whether you want to save or kill them. You'll get the Fire Heart after a few rounds either way.
Reward: 800 Renown, 5000 Gold.
Go to the Hook Coast lighthouse and install the Heart on the strange panel at the top. Once you get down and talk to Briar, the artifact will be attacked by the Summoners. You have to defend it from them before they manage to destroy it. Summoners are tough opponents, they have lots of HP and are quite resistant to your blows. It's difficult to fight them using melee weapons only, but mixing it with Will powers gives satisfactory effects. Once you defeat them all, the Heart will summon a ship for you.
Reward: 4000 Renown.
Follow the direction pointed by the golden dot on the map until you reach the village of Snowspire, where you will meet Scythe in person. He will tell you about the only way to solve the Summoners problem - to wake the Oracle up and ask it for help. You will need to know four magical gestures in order to do that. They are hidden on magical glyphs somewhere in the Necropolis. Head that way.
You will have to search through the whole region, searching for the three glyphs buried in randomly chosen graves. The last one in at the western end of the map, you will have to battle the Snow Troll to get in there (a worthy opponent, you will have to dodge his homing ice missiles and try not to get blown away too far). Once you have all the glyphs, get back to Snowspire. You will have an occasion to have a little chit-chat with the Oracle.
From this moment you can use one of the 4 newly acquired expressions to talk to the Oracle. You can learn some interesting and funny stuff that way.
Is the Y-M-C-A reference coincidental? Yeah, right.
Reward: 100 Renown, 8000 Gold.
In order to open the enchanted gate keeping demonic Jack of Blades away from you, you will have to sacrifice three hero souls to the Archon Shrine. There are two completely different ways to accomplish this quest. The good solution is advised by Briar Rose, the evil one is to slay our respectable cast of NPCs. First things first, though.
1) The Master of the Arena - The shrine expects you to sacrifice a soul which can be described exactly this way. Briar advises you to pay Thunder a visit in Knothole Glade. He will tell you to go to the Arena itself. You can do it, but you can also kill our long-forgotten Whisper's brother. He hasn't learned much since the Lady Gray fight, so you shouldn't have any problems sending him to dust. Just remember that dodging and Will are essential in here.
If you want to be good to the very end, don't attack Thunder but follow his advice and go to the Arena. There you will face a similar battle like before, only this time with Minions and Summoners. Once you get rid of them all, you will obtain the first soul. Teleport back to the Archon's Shrine and talk to Briar.
2) The Heroine - Briar tells you to go to the cemetery in Oakvale and obtain the soul of your late mother. If you are evil, though, you will surely notice that Briar herself isn't a bad choice either.
Briar isn't very resistant to blows and focuses mostly on using Will powers. She can create false copies of herself to confuse you, but it's far too little for a hero of your abilities, isn't it?
If you decide to acquire Scarlet Robe's soul, teleport to Oakvale and go to the Memorial Garden. The cemetery is overrun with Screamers. You have to kill a certain amount of them to make everything back to normal. They aren't too strong, luckily. One or two hits gets every Screamer down.
3) The Oldest Soul -Your first guess is the Guild Master. When you teleport to the Guild, is appears that the old fella hid himself in Guild Woods. A young apprentice will tell you that the inscription might refer to the soul of Nostro, Lychfield Graveyard guardian. The choice is yours once more.
The battle with the Guild Master is in fact a fight between you and his numerous guards. He doesn't seem to be very trigger-happy himself. Once you defeat all of his protectors, you'll obtain the old guy's soul in one of the funniest cut-scenes in the whole game.
In order to face Nostro, teleport to Lychfield and go to the Circle of the Dead. The undead guardian will be glad to grant you his soul once you defeat him in honorable combat. This guy is initially invincible and you can make him vulnerable only by killing some skeletons surrounding him.
Go back to Archon's Shrine and go through the open gate. Expect the worst.
Only one thing left to do for you - kill Jack of Blades once more. This time he appears before you as a dragon. The battle is relatively tough, but with little practice you shouldn't have any serious problems with it. The dragon has a LOT of HP and striking him down will surely take you some time, unless you can deal some really serious damage (try Berserk and 1000+ hits).
The dragon appears in various places of the arena. You can only attack him with melee weapons while he is in the central part (as at the beginning). In other cases you will have to depend on bow and Will. On the other hand, when the dragon takes a different position than the central one, he carries out some really heavy attacks and probably it would be wiser to concentrate on dodging than on attacking. From time to time he summons some Minions and Summoners, they don't seem to be a problem in here, though. The best strategy is to wait for the dragon to appear in the center of the arena and then hit him as hard as you can. Sooner or later, he'll fall.
When you defeat Jack, you stand before the final choice between good, evil, and.. well, very evil. Jack's mask will tempt you Lord-of-the-Rings-style, promising power and immortality. Will you wear it, or toss it into the lava? That's your final decision.
If you want to penetrate Albion some more after beating the game, just don't skip the credits (they are like 20 minutes long). Don't expect any new quests to do, though.
If you wear the mask... the power of the great hero of Oakvale merges with the mysterious being known as the Jack of Blades, thus creating a new reincarnation of the monster, more powerful and gruesome than ever before. The whole Albion will tremble in fear before the horror that is a connection of the two most powerful beings in the world.
If you destroy the mask... tossing it into the hot lava, you finally destroy the ethereal ghost of Jack of Blades. Albion will always remember this day, the day of the end of Hero of Heroes.
Reward: 200 Renown, 900 Gold.
After doing the Attack/Protect Orchard Farm gold quest you can once again face Whisper, this time taking part in Hobbe killing contest. The person who kills the more Hobbes during the time limit wins. Easy as that.
Keep in mind, that Hobbe mages are the least resistant to damage and try to focus on killing them. Try to watch Whisper fight, as sometimes you can finish off an enemy she has wounded before, thus making sure she doesn't get any points at all. Just keep your eyes open and try to watch the whole battlefield to know which Hobbes are already weakened.
Reward: Some Gold + a Gem.
At Lookout Point there is a trader who's looking for an escort to Orchard Farm. That's an easy task to do, you just have to make sure the trader arrives in the in good shape (the more damage he takes, the less reward you get).
Reward: 400 Renown, 5500 Gold.
After taking this quest from the Guild go to Rose Cottage and talk to the granny living there. It occurs her grandson has been lost in Hobbe Cave and someone has to find him. Guess who's it gonna be.
When you enter the cave, enter the first door on the right. You will meet a bandit, who offers you help searching the place and dividing the loot you both find. Do what you will, but if you want to be evil, he will come in handy in a few moments.
At the end of the cave system you'll find yourself in a big room with a rocky sphere in the middle. A blue Faerie will appear and tell you it needs a human to complete the ritual and you can sacrifice someone else, swapping him for the boy. You can give him the newly met bandit or kill (or do both, in that order). Take the boy outside, watching that he doesn't take too much damage. Go to Rose Cottage with him. It seems the granny wasn't so innocent after all, but this isn't your business any more. Quest complete.
Reward: 400 Renown, 5000 Gold.
A simple and quick quest, in which you escort three traders our of Twinblade's Camp. The procedure is as follows: kill everyone in the vicinity, approach the trader, make him follow you, kill everyone again. Repeat this three times and leave the camp. You're done.
Reward: 400 Renown, 5000 gold.
Another simple quest. This time you just go to Barrow Fields and kill virtually everyone: guards, traders and civilians. Once you're done, the bandits will bring you another trader to kill. You can execute him or just leave.
Reward: 450 Renown, 5000 Gold.
You have to take care of the bandits who threaten Knothole Glade. Once you're there, their chief will give you a ransom note for you to take inside. After a short cut-scene talk to the guard and make him open the gates. The bandits will start their attack. Kill the ones that run in your way (area attacks come in handy again, don't let anyone through!) and get in their encampment, killing everyone in your way. That's the easiest way to complete this quest, far easier than trying to defend the city while dwelling inside it.
Reward: 150 Renown, 2600 Gold, Treasure Clue.
Piece of cake. Go to Abandoned Road (east of Oakvale). A likable trader will ask you to find and save his brother, lost somewhere up ahead. Fight your way through the path, get the trader's brother, and return him to safety. Do this, and another Treasure Clue will be yours.
Reward: 200 Renown, 4500 Gold.
These two opposite quests are related to a captured bandit's execution at Headman's Hill. If you decide to join with the Guards (Execution Tree), you'll have to hold some bandits off and escort the prisoner to his death. If you support the bandits (Execution Tree Rescue), you'll just have to fight your way through ranks of guards and free your colleague. Nothing to think about in here, just butt kicking all the way through.
Reward: 100 Renown, 3500 Gold.
Your mission is to help Briar Rose close the mysterious portal at Darkwood Lake, as Minions clearly have some unholy business with it. After a small chit-chat with Briar, you'll have to make your way through some enemies, and then cover her back while she reads some magical inscriptions. Minions are in strong numbers in here and it's advised to use spells like Enflame to take care of them. The quest will end once the counter shown on the right side of the screen fills up. If you haven't let Briar get hurt too much, she will be impressed by your skills and invite you to fight by her side whenever you feel like. You will meet again.
Reward: 400 Renown, 5400 Gold, Treasure Clue.
This time you have to rescue some hostages. The bandits who captured them split into two groups - one of them is in Fisher Creek and the other at Greatwood Lake. The operation is simple with one exception only - you'll have to headshot gang leaders, who directly threaten the hostages in "get closer and the girl gets it" style. You'll get a Treasure Clue for that one.
Reward: 400 Renown, 5800 Gold.
After taking this quest to go Bowerstone North and talk to the female spy Tanya. She will give you some more information. Go north. You have to chase a trader convoy, and kill everyone except the guy with long moustache. Talk to him and escort him back to Bowerstone North. The only problem with this mission is the trader's health. He is fairly vulnerable and needs some protection (area attacks are good, as they attack many enemies at once), and preferably Heal Life.
Reward: 500 Renown, 3000 Gold.
Knothole Glade Chief's son has been kidnapped and he needs your help once again. Go and talk to him, he'll give you 7500 Gold the bandits demand. When you leave the town, you'll meet the other Chief's son, who clearly has some evil intentions. He will tell you to bring the kid back to him.
Go to Witchwood Stones. You can either pay the ransom or kill the bandits. They're no real threat for you and the second way is more profitable. Your way back to Knothole Glade will be troublesome, as you and the boy will be under constant attack from various monsters, from Balverines to Fire Faeries. Just remember to keep the boy safe.
When you return to Knothole, decide whether you want to escort the boy to his dad (good solution, home in the southern part of the town) or to his evil brother (evil solution, near the Demon Door).
When you return to Knothole, decide whether you want to escort the boy to his dad (good solution, home in the southern part of the town) or to his evil brother (evil solution, near the Demon Door).
Reward: Fishing Rod.
When you enter the Fisher Creek area (west of Greatwood) you'll see the fisher's cottage overrun by wasps. Get rid of them and you'll get a fishing rod and a little fishing tutorial. Use the newly acquired equipment to gather stuff from all 'bubble spots' around here.
Reward: Silver Key, upgraded Fishing Rod, Fisherman Hat
When you return to Fisher Creek some time after your first visit, the fisherman will tell you about this competition. You're gonna need a really big fish to get all the prizes (try Hook Coast).
Reward: 200 Renown, 2000 gold.
First time you visit Bowerstone South, you'll see a little girl who will tell you to follow her. You will meet her mother, taking care of a seriously diseased boy. The Bowerstone Quay witch can prepare a cure for him, but she needs four blue mushrooms as the ingredients.
1) You'll encounter two rather strange traders in Lookout Point, who'll be talking about the mushroom they lost. Talk to them a few times and they'll tell you one of them threw it into the pool near the Heroes' Guild Demon Door. Go there and fish it out.
2) There's an even stranger woman in the Picnic Area. She will ask you to make her laugh. Use some funny expressions on her, such as turkish dancing or so. After a few tries, you'll be rewarded with the second mushroom.
3) Go to Guild Woods and talk to the man standing in there. He'll ask you to deliver a love letter to a girl in Oakvale. You can do as he wants (good solution) or tell the girl you wrote the letter yourself (evil solution) and either way show him the reply. A mushroom will be your reward.
4) You can buy the fourth mushroom from a trader in Barrow Fields. It costs quite a lot for something like that (1500).
Go back to the witch and give her the ingredients. It seems she had the cure all the time, and she only needed the psychotropic mushrooms for.. well, tests. LOL :-)
Reward: A few new haircuts.
There's a bald man sitting on a bench in Bowerstone Quay. He'll tell you about his daughter, who loves men with a certain haircut and give you the haircut card you can use in the nearby barber's. The cycle will repeat with moustache and beard. Once you're beautiful enough to meet the man's daughter, he'll tell you that she doesn't even exist, and he just likes to make heroes look like jerks. Nice.
Did you actually believe this guy?
Reward: Silver Key + random item.
If you talk to the Bowerstone South school teacher, you'll know that the school lacks educational materials and would gladly appreciate if you could spare some books. Here you have an opportunity to watch some funny cut-scenes as the teacher reads some books to the kids. If you donate 25 books, you'll get a Silver Key. You can also get a random item (piece of clothing) from the kids after donating about 10 books.
Reward: Some gold and other stuff from the camp.
There's a bandit encampment in Greatwood Gorge. To cross it, you'll have to pay 400 Gold, but what kind of hero would you be if you actually paid? Just ready your sword and make your way through them.
Reward: Money gained from the rent when you own the bordello or positive alignment points for closing it.
This quest doesn't appear in your journal, but is certainly worth checking out. Apart from being very funny, it can be quite profitable as well. You'll find the passage to Darkwood Bordello in Darkwood Lake. There you will be welcomed by Madame Minzche, who will tell you about the troublesome owner of the place. You'll have to find the Bordello Deeds in order to get rid of him. Now prepare for something drastic.
You have to get laid with the owner of the bordello. Gulp! Go get yourself a fancy dress (ex. in Bowerstone), shave your beard and moustache, and get the Redhead Wig from the Bordello floor (you have to rent one of the girls in order to get in there). When ready, talk to the owner. Once you're, uhm, 'done', he will fall asleep and start to mumble. It seems he buried the deeds under the tree near the pond. Go there with a spade and end this nightmare (certain spot is shown at the screen below).
Update: You don't need to sleep with the owner to get the location of the deed. Just buy some beer from the merchant right there in the bordello and give them to him. After 6 beers he'll say he's not feeling well and needs to go to bed. He'll ask you to help him to bed, and once he's asleep, he'll mutter the directions to the deed. (info submitted by Pheonix)
When you get rid of the now-former owner, Madame will ask you to change the bordello into a shelter for fallen women. Agreeing to that results in some serious positive alignment points, rejecting - serious money (and a possibility to get lucky as much as you want, yah!).
Reward: Obsidian Axe, 2 Silver Keys, Chicken Hat, Chicken Expression.
In the south-eastern part of Oakvale you will meet a man who's having trouble with a ghost haunting the place where he's holding the Chicken Kicking event. Agree to help him and go to the nearby beach. Talk to the ghost. He'll ask you to find the buried treasure of his and give it back to his wife. The treasure is to the left of the pier on the western beach. Pirate's wife is standing a little bit further to the west. When you return to the ghost, he'll disappear and tell you there's a reward for you buried under the axe of the statue in Memorial Garden (Silver Key + Obsidian Axe).
Chicken Kicking supervisor will take his place and encourage you to take part in the competition. You can win some cool stuff in here: chicken expression, a silver key and a rather avant-garde hat. The goal of the game is to kick chickens (doh) so that they fall on the right fields of the 'board'. Quite easy, indeed.
Nothing will stand in your way when you look THAT dangerous.
Reward: Jack of Blades hero doll.
Hero dolls can be found in various places, but in most cases you have to win them in mini-games placed in all of the game's taverns. If you have at least one of them, go to Bowerstone South. You will meet a kid who'll tell you that the local teacher is quite a collector and you should see him once you have all the dolls (your own impersonation doesn't count here). There are 6 of them to get.
HINT: you will find Slow Time spell very handy in all the mini-games based on time and reflexes.
1) Briar Rose - win Card Pairs in Bowerstone South in less than 30 seconds.
2) Whisper - win Coin Golf in Oakvale hitting the coin 11 times (par -2).
3) Twinblade - win Spot the Addition in Twinblade's Camp in less than 25 seconds.
4) Scarlet Robe - win Card Sorting in Knothole Glade in less than 25 seconds.
5) Maze - win Shove Ha'Penny in Hook Coast scoring as high as possible.
6) Scythe - win Coin Golf in Snowspire hitting the coin 10 times.
And the reward will be.. Jack of Blades Hero Doll. I hope you didn't expect anything better. It's pretty useless, you know.
Reward: Some gold + a trophy.
You will find 'fight clubs' in Bowerstone Quay, Oakvale, Twinblade Elites and Gnothole Glade. Men gather in these places, indicated by white circles on the ground, during the night and have some hand-to-hand combat. You can participate in the competition. Fighting in here is different from what you're used to and requires some skill and reflexes. Blocking is absolutely essential. High Speed stat will help you a lot in here. You will get some gold for winning each of the events and if you become a champion of them all you'll get a special trophy.
Reward: Skorm's Bow, Necromancer title, youth.
You will find the path to The Chapel of Skorm in Darkwood Camp. It is a place where you can sacrifice people in order to get lots of negative alignment points and some valuable gifts. The most important of them is Skorm's Bow, definitely the best ranged weapon in the game. Getting it requires some plain luck, though.
Hire two bodyguards (you will find one of them in each bigger city, it's easy to do fast because once you hire one of them, he teleports with you when you use the Guild Seal) and go to the chapel. Wait until it's about midnight (look at the indicator in top-right corner of the screen) and talk to one of the monks. Sacrifice both assassins.
HINT: Chances of getting the best prizes this way vary depending on you character's alignment (it's easier when you're good). There's no one sure way to get them, so you'll have to try it a few times (with a bit of luck you'll get the bow the first time).
Once you get the bow, sacrificing the next person will give you youth (a little change in your Age stat, better save this opportunity until late in the game when you're 65), and the second one will result in getting the Necromancer title. Neat.
Reward: Sentinus, Paladin title, youth.
To get all the prizes mentioned above you just have to donate a lot of money to the temple. The amounts required for them depend on your alignment again (generally the more evil you are the less money you have to donate). 50000 should do the thing, although not necessarily.
Reward: The Harbinger.
A few steps from Temple of Avo there's a sword stuck in the stone and a group of peasants trying to take it out. Obviously, they don't stand a chance. Your chances depend on your melee stats and the only sure way to get the sword is to max them out.
Reward: Treasure Clue + some less valuable prizes.
After doing the Arena quest, the Archery Competition near the Knothole Glade city gates will be open and you will be able to take part, in order to win some decent prizes (Treasure Clue is the most important of them). The rules are the same as in the training at the very beginning of the game. If you're in the bad mood, just kill the proprietor and take all the prizes from his body.
Reward: 200 Renown, 500 Gold.
When you return to Orchard Farm later in the game, you'll find the farm owners troubled by the ghost of the man's mother. Go talk to her (she's right behind the house). She'll tell you that she can't rest because of the bandit who killed her and stole her family medallion. He's at Greatwood Lake (to the east). Go there, kill him and return the heirloom to its rightful owners.
Reward: 1000 or 2500 Gold.
Behind one of the Oakvale houses you'll meet a guard who wants to hire you to kill a dangerous assassin in Twinblade's Tent. Go there. The bandit will ignore your presence unless you take out your sword. Then, he will double the stake and try to hire you to kill the guard, who turns out to be his brother. If you refuse, he will add another 500 Gold to tempt you. Now the decision is up to you - kill either the assassin or the guard in Oakvale.
Reward: Treasure Clue
Guild Master will contact you through the Guild Seal and tell you there are some Twinblade fanatics wanting you six feet under and you can expect some attacks. Nothing surprising, really. It happens mostly sometime after killing the White Balverine in Knothole Glade. Ironic, that you have to search for the assassins yourself, and not the other way round.
Assassins appear when you are at the one certain spot of the following maps. You will have to wander around them for a while.
1) Knothole Glade (next to the bridge);
2) Windmill Hill (at the floor of the windmill);
3) Witchwood Cullis Gate (next to the stone cullis gate in western part of the area);
4) Prison Path (on the main path);
5) Hook Coast (next to the city bell).
When you kill all five of them, you'll get yet another Treasure Clue.
Reward: Frying Pan.
There are 6 treasure clues in the game:
1) A chest in western part of Orchard Farm;
2) Reward for completing the Bounty Hunt quest;
3) Reward for completing the Lost Trader quest;
4) Reward for winning the Archery Competition in Knothole Glade;
5) A chest near the windmill in Windmill Hill;
6) Reward for completing the Assassin Attacks quest.
Use your spade in here. The 'treasure' can be found without all the clues, but it's even more worthless then. The enchanted frying pan (sic!) is in Orchard Farm. You have to use your shovel manually, as it doesn't appear as one of the default F1-F3 items.
Reward: If you choose the Mayor's Invitation quest - you'll get access to Demon Door #10 and Bowerstone Manor (silver key + Katana Hiryu) + 15000 Gold. Investigating the Mayor will only give you access to the manor.
After beating the Arena, you'll be invited by Bowerstone mayor, Lady Gray, for a visit in Bowerstone North. Once you're there, you'll be encouraged to take two opposite quests. Lady Gray will expect you to do a few favors for her and eventually become her husband, while the prisoner in local jail will tell you that Lady is an evil woman and you have to investigate her background.
If you want to become Lady's husband, you'll have to do the following:
1) Give her a black rose (you can buy it in Bowerstone North);
2) Own a house;
3) Find the lost necklace. Talk to everyone in Bowerstone North, you'll find out that the necklace is somewhere in Oakvale. Go there and head to Memorial Garden. You'll see two whispering men in there. Sneak by the wall behind them and you'll hear that the necklace is buried between the two boats on the western Oakvale beach. Go there, dig in the right place and return to Lady.
4) Your last duty will be to fight Thunder. Go north of Bowerstone, you'll meet the powerful hero in there. He'll tell you to go to Headman's Hill. Go there, making your way through bandits. Once you're there, the duel will begin. Thunder is pretty easy to defeat using magic, he's defenseless against it. Enflame can easily interrupt his annoying lightning spell, and if you add a little bit of Slow Time then the Thunder is doomed at the very beginning. The duel consists of three phases. When you fall down to a little pond, be sure to fish in there (quite an interruption during the battle, isn't it?) for the Silver Key.
Go back to Bowerstone, using the nearby Demon Door, and talk to Lady. You can propose or reject her, the choice is yours, but it surely pays off to become to husband - check the Rewards. What's more, you can get some gifts from her that are not mentioned above, including the Solus Greatsword. Just treat her nicely, give her gifts and use positive, flirting expressions.
The 'Investigating the Mayor' quest is obviously connected with Lady as well. When you talk to the Bowerstone North prisoner, he'll tell you to go to Barrow Fields. Talk to a man who appeared in there - he was Lady Gray's dead sister's fiancee. Go to Gray House, stand near the stable and light the lantern three times. The sister's ghost will appear and open the door to the cellar.
You'll find a skeleton and a letter in there - pick it up and Lady will make her appearance. If you already are her husband, then she'll just force you to give her the letter and you can't do anything about it, and if you're not, she will offer you marriage. If you agree, you'll be fighting Thunder just like in the previous quest, and if you reject, you'll expose her evil deeds and she will be forced to leave Bowerstone, promising you revenge. The guard in Bowerstone North will ask you whether you'd like to become the mayor. Agree to get access to the Manor.
Reward: Tear of Avo.
You will encounter this quest only if you destroyed the Sword of Aeons after fighting Jack of Blades. The sword you find is thought to be it's "good" equivalent, as its stats are exactly the same. Go to the Guild.
Guild Master will tell you to go to Maze's room. Search through the bookshelves and then head to the middle of the area, where the four graves are. Examine the eastern grave and the sword will be yours. Doh, that was complicated.
And thus you have come to the end of your journey through the land of Albion. Was it worth it? Sure, Fable is an enjoyable game that's definitely worth spending time with. Its depth can't be compared to the biggest and greatest cRPGs out there, but the fun is quite decent nonetheless. It's a good portion of gameplay for everyone, even the least experienced of us. For them, it can even serve as sort of a gateway to the beautiful world of role-playing games. Well then, what shall we play next? Or perhaps let's just have some more quality time with Fable?
Say 'cheese'.
