Welcome to our guide to Dracula 4: The Shadow of the Dragon adventure game. In accordance with the title, it's the fourth instalment in the series, though you don't need to be familiar with the previous games to have fun.

The game lets you choose one of two modes: Casual or Adventure. The first one is designed for casual players who just want to relax with this title without too much effort and therefore receive a hint system. Adventure mode is designed for advanced players who don't need help and want to reach everything on their own.

Remember to keep an eye on the health level of your hero and keep it at a high level with pills and fruits.

In return for each action made in accordance with the intention of the creators, you will receive points. You can collect a maximum of 300.

You can obtain 20 achievements throughout the gameplay. A list, together with methods of obtaining them, can be found at the end of the walkthrough.

This chapter isn't obligatory and has been created with complete beginners in mind. It lets you learn the basic controls, though you should choose to play it even in Adventure mode, as it lets you obtain the "Expert Eye" achievement.

Inside the office, move forward and speak with the inspector sitting behind the desk. Afterwards move the camera to the painting on the right and use the ultraviolet lamp on it. Bingo! It's the lost painting. You will receive the first Achievement - Expert Eye. After a short conversation with the inspector, you can take the painting with you. Look at the board on the wall, at the man's photo. The discovered item is in his hand. Speak with the inspector about every possible topic and take the lighter and scotch tape from the desk.

There's a crate underneath the board. You need to place the painting inside it. There's a seal on the safe, take it. Move to the entrance and on the left on the desk you will find a red wax and plastic packing strip. Return to the box and use the packing strip on it. Afterwards use the lighter on the red wax and use the melted wax on the box. Place the seal at the same place. The last thing you need to do is placing the secured painting into the safe.

Afterwards, head back to the area of the entrance door and look at the stuff on the right. Click on the tape recorder on the left and take out the tape from the box. Now use the scotch tape on it in the inventory. Insert the therefore repaired tape into the player, there's an empty slot on the right side. Now you have to adjust the machine to be able to listen to the recording. Afterwards you have to set the recording so that you can hear what the voice is saying. Press the PLAY button at the top and start adjusting. Going from the left, the gauges should be set at 100, 200, 200, 115, 70. Notice - all lamps marked as ON have to be switched on. Just press them to do it.

Approach the inspector's desk. As the man left, you cannot miss the chance of taking a peek at the thief's acts. They can be found in the first column of cabinets, at the very bottom. After opening the drawer, click on act 14. Take the strip of paper found in the acts. In your inventory, look at the documents section and note that Friedlen's acts mention a certain Kilic, whose acts can also be found here, more precisely in the second from the top drawer in the MQ column. His acts are numbered 8.

Head out through the door in front of the inspector's desk. In the cell you're in for an unpleasant surprise - you will have to examine a corpse. Take note of the wrist of the left hand and speak with the inspector. Afterwards look at the sink opposite of the corpse and take a look at the soap. Head out onto the corridor and open the cupboard on the left side by using the received key. Inside you will find a Polaroid camera, batteries, a film, an empty sprayer and a fingerprint powder. Place the batteries and film into the camera and the fingerprint powder into the sprayer. Speak with the inspector - there will be a new dialogue option. In the end, take a photo of the corpse, aiming the lens at the face. You can also take a photo of the inspector to unlock the "Paparazzo" achievement.

After you return to the upper floor, it's time for Ellen to take her medicine for the first time. First a blue + blue-white pill, followed by a red-white + blue. Miss Cross should return to shape. Health points recovered by given combination are showed in the above screenshot. The last thing you have to do in the prologue is use the phone from the inspector's desk and choose the MUSEUM option.

In return for completing the Prologue, you will receive the "From Budapest with love" achievement.

And so you will end up at a gloomy manor. Head inside and speak with Stoker. After using up all the dialogue options, approach the piano - Adam will disappear. Take note of the phonograph standing inside the glass showcase. You can place a tube on it. There's nothing interesting around the fireplace, so head to the kitchen. There, take the knife from beside the microwave oven and an apple and a pear from a bowl on the same table. From the cupboard above the stove, take the flashlight and the bleach.

Open the drawer of the cabinet to the left of the entrance and take out a tube of glue and fuses. From the top of the cabinet, collect the penetrating oil. Beside the kitchen sink there's a container which also should end up in your inventory. Use it on the tap to fill it up with water and use bleach on it. Return to the corridor and head to the room on the right. Here, open the drawer of the small cabinet, take out sleeping pills and take a look at the note.

Head upstairs. Take the slide viewer standing beside the projector and approach the balustrade to move the curtain. Take a look at the weapon hanging from the wall and at the ship model. Afterwards move your attention to the mechanism which holds the ropes. Arrange the gears as shown in the below screenshot and activate them using the rudder button. The gears on the right correspond with the arrangement of the model. It has to be facing north.

Approach the desk and look at the note found there. As it turns out, there's a position from the sunken collection which isn't included in your notes. It's marked as "Kanayek A III 07". Move back to the middle of the room and look at the shelf with a small sailing boat model. Note the ladder which lets you look at the upper shelves. It can also be moved. Move it maximally to the left, to the window on the left side of the map and click at its top. Position A III 07 is taken by a volume marked as C II 15. That means you should look at the shelf above the corridor - move the ladder there and you will find what you're looking for.

Use the magnifying glass on the ship on the right to see the DARK KEY sign, and afterwards on the text on the left. You will note that some of the letters are marked with dots. When you find one, press the mouse and a sign will start forming on the sheet of paper. It will form F IV 0, but that won't be the end. Click on the scalpel and then on the four corners of the tape holding the slide. They cover the last word - 5 - which means that you need to find volume F IV 05. It can be found in a shelf to the left of the ship model, in the fourth row from the top and it's... "Dracula". Click the two books and you will see a keyhole.

Go down and take a look at the lowered ship model. There's a key laying on it. Go back up and use it on the newly unveiled keyhole. Turn it to access a code lock. Use the slide on the slide viewer and put it into the projector. Move the red dot on the map up once and then maximally to the east to see the town Vladoviste and the code 2517. The image can be magnified by clicking on the point.

Input the received code on the code lock. Turn on the flashlight and enter the darkness. In order to fix the lamp, turn around and click on the fuse box. You need to fix it by completing another puzzle. You have to get the power to five points. Pressing the white pin will change the position of the piece. Eventually the whole thing should look like in the above screenshot.

Search the room - on the table you will find a bottle with hydrogen peroxide, vitamins and St Benedict's medal. Take a look at the ink-stained sheet of paper. Add the hydrogen to the bleach and use mixture on the stain to remove it. Take a look at the picture above the desk and afterwards look at the screens. Two of them show the manor entrances and one the library. There are four squares shining on the device by the TV.

Arrange them as shown in the above screenshot and turn on the TV with the button in the lower right corner. Ellen will read a Latin phrase, but won't be able to tell where it's located. Afterwards look at the picture of the manor above the desk and focus on the statue visible beside the first window on the left (on the upper floor). Before leaving the room, look at the tape recorder on the shelf. There is no tape inside, but you can find it on the shelf below. Put it into the tape recorder and listen to it. Take the bottle of whisky.

Go down and use the phone to call the museum and then Adam. Afterwards you can leave and check if the statue is really beside the window. Unfortunately its location will be obscured by branches. Head right, behind the corner of the manor, to find garden tools, including shears and a ladder. Place the ladder below the statue and use the shears to get rid of the branches. Click on the statue and it will turn around, unveiling a key. Take it.

Return behind the corner of the manor and press on the gate visible on the hill. Put some oil on the lock and you will be able to turn the key. Right after heading in, bend down and pick up the metal bar. Head to the mausoleum on the left. Use the shears on the door and afterwards the key found in the statue. Inside, look at the sign and on the circles beneath it. Another puzzle awaits you.

The smaller buttons are used to change the triangle of the lower circle adjoining the upper one. Click on the middle of each circle to make it turn. The idea here is to create three identical circles - as shown in the above screenshot. Focus on choosing the proper colours of each circle and the whole task will go smoothly. Successfully arranging the circles will open the passage and rewards you with the "Amateur Detective" achievement.

Using the metal bar, open the grave on the left and take out the rope ladder and pick axe from the bag inside. Use the ladder on the entrance. Below, pick up the bone and take a look at the stone plate. On the left, by the wall, you will find a terra cotta pot. Note that there are three entrance here. On the lintel of each of them there's a symbol which you have to remember.

Collect three stone snakes from the ground. One of them is lying between some rubble to the left of the board, the second in the puddle on the right and the third at the base of the ladder. Take a look at the board and place the snakes in the empty places. You will now have to recreate the symbols from above the doors to make them open. Begin with the middle one. The board should be arranged as shown in the above screenshot. Take a look at the opened passage.

Arrange the circle a shown in the above screenshot and enter the small room. Ellen is afraid of the snake protecting access to the bottle, but you can use the plate to neutralise it. Take the bottle and use the knife to take a part of cloth from the corpse.

Return to the main cave and open the door on the left. Use the flashlight to enter inside, but you will learn that it's not enough. Connect the piece of cloth with the bone, use the oil and light it with the lighter. Enter the darkness and once you come across the gate, put the torch on the handle on the right. Note that to the right of the torch there's a strangely regular shape. Click on it to unveil a sign which will help you with the next puzzle.

Click on the symbol in the middle of the door and place the St Benedict's medal on it. You need to set the letter on the door just like on the medal. The arrows in the middle are used to turn the whole circle, while the buttons change a given fragment with the neighbouring one. Note that the middle ones where the arms of the cross are don't move. It's best to start off by placing IHS at the top and then move V, R and other letters towards it. From time to time you will have to move the whole of it, change a given letter and then put IHS back on the top. It's not a difficult task, however slightly time-consuming. Eventually it will turn out that there are more letters on the shield than on the medal. A hint can be found on the unveiled sign. Place the letters in the following order (clockwise): IHS V R S N S M V S M Q L I V B.

Enter the mysterious room. Take the strap off the cloth and afterwards take it off as well. Soon afterwards you will watch a short cutscene. Beside the door you will see a hanging rope, while on the shelf, in a box with a cross, some vitamins. Take a look at the brick wall on the right and afterwards on the floor. By the box your task is easy - you need to arrange three colours: red, yellow and blue, just like on the flag of Romania visible in the corner.

Fix up Ellen's fragile health and afterwards take out silver bullets, a broken wax cylinder, a short piece of string and a leather box from the box. Also take a look at the book. In the inventory, use glue on the broken cylinder. Equip the pick axe and try crushing the brick wall. Combine the knife with the silver bullets and pour the received powder into the leather box. Just add the piece of string as a fuse and you will have a dynamite. Use the lighter on the fuse - you will unlock the "Kamikaze" achievement. Place the dynamite in the hole made with the pick axe and light the fuse.

Pick up the grapnel from beside the coffin and combine it with the rope. Put it into the hole and click on the rope. Use the tape on Vlad Tepes's bust, click on the hanging end and then on the bust. Head out through the created hole. Upstairs, talk with Adam about everything you can.

Go down to the ground floor and head to the phonograph. Place the repaired cylinder in the spot visible in the above screenshot and press on the tube. You can turn on the device by pressing on the crank. After listening to the recording, approach the phone and call the museum. Return to Adam and use the two new dialogue options.

Head to Adam's bedroom and use the piece of paper from Friedlen's acts on the device on the desk. Notice! You have to click on it a couple times before you're able to read the full address. Its last part is Istanbul. Speak to Adam about your discovery and head downstairs to call the museum. Afterwards visit Adam once again. Before doing that however, check Ellen's health.

If you begin this level with good health, you will receive the "Perfect patient" achievement. Begin by answering the phone.

Use the knife to open the box on the table. Inside there's a nice treat - some medicine and a camera. Read the letter and head to the door.

Click on the door and head inside. You can take a look around the room. When you take a closer look at the "Lilith" painting, a man named Yanek will appear. Start by excusing him for disturbance. Use the dialogue options, asking also about Friedlen and avoid labouring the point (it will give you the achievement "Diplomat"). You need to ask about Yanek twice. Head outside and note a trash bin opposite to the apartment entrance. Move it and head inside through the therefore unveiled door.

Look through the window to make sure that Yanek went out and take a look around the room. Take the strip of metal from the barrel. On the table you can find pliers, a lock picking hook and a knotted rope. Use the pliers on the strip of metal. Head out and go to Yanek's door. You need to break in. In order to do that, push the lock picking hook so that four hooks are out and push the tension tool to the maximum position. Afterwards lower the tension tool so that it cuts the nail in the upper right corner (screen above).

The next step is pulling out the lock pick so that five hooks are visible and lowering the tension tool. If you're doing everything as you're supposed to, nothing should happen. Making a mistake will cause the tension tool to return to the upmost position, forcing you to start all over again.

After going it, turn on the light with the switch to the left of the door and take a look at the workshop in the alcove. You will find a puppet draft. Approach the wall showing the scene at the edge and turn the last key. When the doll falls down, take it and return to the alcove. Use the brush to paint the cuff blue and the rest orange. Don't touch the palm hand itself. You can gain orange by mixing red and yellow.

Now take the scalpel and cut out the arm from the template. Click on the scalpel and follow the line, including the hand, while keeping the button pressed down. You need to be very patient - a too fast move will interrupt the whole procedure. It's the most time-consuming and irritating activity in the whole game.

In the inventory, connect the arm with the puppet and place it on the ship. Now zoom in on the scene. The aim of the puzzle is enabling the puppet with the key to reach the proper key hole. Above it there's a balloon and before it a puppet with a knife. Turn the keys in the following sequence: 5-6-2-4-1-3. In return you will receive the "Puppeteer" achievement.

Head into the hidden room and take the rod. Watch the painting and take a photo of it. After returning to the main room, approach the red painting. Turn around and take the sponge and paint solvent form the table. Connect them in the inventory and keep using the sponge with solvent on the painting until Ellen identifies it. In the end, take a photo of it as proof.

Remove the screen blocking the stairs and head upstairs. On the bedside table there's another puzzle. You need to arrange the circles so that three red dots are at the top, green at the bottom and blue on the right. The red petal from the middle has to adjoin the red one on the outer circle. Note the relation - the last circle also moves the second one and the central the third one, but only one moves counter clockwise. Focus mainly on arranging the red ones - the rest will adjust automatically. In return you will receive a hook which you have to connect with the rod.

Using the new item, you can reach the hatch leading to the attic. There you should immediately take note of the small package on the right side. Take a closer look and take it just like the screwdriver and rope. Click on the wall on the right side - take a photo of the corpse. Afterwards try going down. When you hear a noise, click on the rope.

Click on the window. Use the screwdriver on the screws to move closer to freedom. Connect the ropes in your inventory and use it on the opened window. Afterwards head out using that path.

In the hotel, use the phone to inform the police. Afterwards call the museum. Now you have to take a closer look at the package taken from Yanek. You will have to press the appropriate buttons so that all small rectangles on the upper and lower plate shine. The proper arrangement can be seen in the above screenshot. After solving the puzzle, get ready go a shock.

300! - obtain 300 points in the game; you can obtain it by completing all mentioned activities.
