Game Review
Siegius Arena is an action RPG flash game based on the idea of Roman Gladiator. As a centurion betrayed by one of his own men, you have been framed as a traitor and sentenced to death in the arena. The only way to survive and seek revenge is to slash and fight your way through. The overall gameplay of Siegius Arena is simple, albeit fun atmosphere and attractive plot premise. Move with arrow keys and attacks with ZX keys which correspond to light and heavy attack in battle. X key for item and Z key for casting magic spells.
As you stab your way through your foes, the crowd's excitement rises. Whenever the bar to the right side of the screen fills, hitting spacebar to unleash your ultimate attack. Getting hit yourself will cause the bar's level to drop. The combo system flows very well, although it's shallow. Ended up mindless mashing the buttons with no real strategy. The developer could have done more by creating a slightly complicated combo system to improve combat.
Once an enemies is down, you can loot coins from corpses during matches to spend on better weapons and armor to help you in subsequent arena fights. As a gamer, we all know that getting a powerful weapon and beating up all the weak guys is cheap. Unfortunately, the game begins to feel poorly scaled as it progresses. Why? Because I am always in the situation where I got the best gear of what's been unlocked so far. Yet I very much have difficulty in beating the round to get to the next set of equipment to unlock, which doesn't do me any good, but I still like the challenge of the game in a good way.
The general fighting style of Siegius Arena is pretty well done. I have noticed Roman gladiator has become one of the more popular themes trending around the flash games. For me, I can never resist a good gladiator flash game. I mean, who can? Time for some gladiator fun now!

Setup for Siegius Arena
First, buy a magic spells first and familiarize with your controls and combos. Then always upgrade to the latest equipment, once you have unlocked it. Once you reached Stage 8 in The Pit, always bring the best health potions with you along the subsequent stages. The difficulty begins to feel poorly balanced from this stage 8 onward. Remember to kill clerics and mages first, they are annoying and deadly if you don't clear them fast.
Don't worry about vanishing coins, you will have more than enough coins to buy all the necessary equipment. There is an item called Golden Lager, it will drag all the coins to you. Retry some of the weaker stage to earn more coins. Trust me, you will eventually end up with too much cash quickly and the upgrades stay locked for too long.
