After months of waiting, The Wonderful 101 is finally here for everyone to enjoy. This Wii U title is full of fun superhero action and epic combat. However, before you jump right in to the game, know that there is a fairly steep learning curve for the controls. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with a handy tips and tricks guide. Before you press start, read on and get some useful information to help you play like a pro.
As you play, you will get new abilities. The best way to know what these abilities do is to experiment with them. Before you move on, use your abilities and be sure you know how to use them and what they do. Practice drawing them several times. This could come in handy during an intense battle!
The Wonder Liner is a big part of gameplay in The Wonderful 101. It can be helpful to know that you can make the Wonder Liner move faster by holding down the L button while you move the liner with the right analog stick. Get even more speed later on by purchasing the Speed Liner skill.
You can taunt your enemies by facing them and either holding X and A simultaneously or holding down the button on the left analog stick. Taunting will increase your heroes’ attack power. It will also enable you to use a skill called Unite Camp, which replenishes your Unite Gauge. Tap the Y button to use this skill!
As soon as you can, purchase the Unite Guts and Spring skills. These skills allow you to block and dodge, respectively. Both of these skills can be bought after the introduction level, and they are very useful to have in any battle.
As you play, you’ll get Space Peppers, Eggplants, and Carrots. Using these space vegetables, you can create new items that will heal your heroes. These items can restore health or refill the Unite Gauge. You can also save up your veggies for a Wonderful Card, which allows you to purchase any item of your choosing from the Wonderful Mart.
Dashing is an important skill in the game. You can dash by using the Y button. You don’t actually have to hold down the button to sprint. The hero will continue to dash even after you let go. Dashing can help you move faster or even cancel a Unite Morph you don’t want to use anymore.
Getting combinations during levels helps you get a better score. To get a great combo, try using the Rocket and Tombstone skills one after another. The Rocket skill allows you to pop enemies into the air, and the Tombstone skill will slam them back into the ground, doing massive damage and making your combo soar!
