The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds – Maiamai Guide

Finding collectibles is part of the fun in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds on the 3DS. One collectible is Maiamai, little creatures that look a bit like octopi. When you find a little Maiamai, you’ll need bring it home to the Mother Maiamai. There are 100 missing Maiamai, and you can start looking for them after you first meet Mother Maiamai. Finding all of her missing children gets you some nice rewards, including an upgraded spin attack after you find all 100.

Getting Started

You can only start finding the Maiamai after meeting the Mother Maiamai. You can only do this after you get the bombs. Use a bomb on the cave that is next to Link’s house to find Mother Maiamai. She will ask you to find 100 of her children, and she’ll give you a map as well. The map will tell you how many Maiamai are in a certain area of the world, so you can look at it from time to time to see if you missed anyone!

Hyrule

Death Mountain

• Find one under a stone above the graveyard.
• Look under a rock near the broken bridge by Rosso’s mine.
• Find a Maiamai on a wall in the top right, near the Treasure Dungeon.
• Look under a stone below the stranded man after you go through the lava caves.
• Find this one on a wall to the left of the ledge outside the caves.

Desert Palace

• Use the Sand Rod at the top of the desert to find a Maiamai under the sand.
• Use the Sand Rod at the entrance to the Desert Palace.
• Go to the eastern area of the desert and look under a big rock.

Eastern Palace

• Look under a big rock on a ledge south of the palace.
• Look on a hill to the right on the palace.
• Check the tree to the right of the palace entrance.
• Look in the alcove in the center of the palace area.
• Look for a yellow tree in the palace area.
• Go underwater near the large bridge to find one.

Hyrule Castle & Link’s House

• Look in the tree north of the Blacksmith’s House.
• Get another one from the tree left of Link’s House.
• Find a Maiamai in the tree left of Hyrule Castle.
• Check the tree just below the Blacksmith’s House, near the back of the forest clearing.
• Use the Tornado Rod on the area between the Blacksmith’s House and Hyrule Castle.
• Look behind Link’s House to find one.
• Get one from the wall that is south of the forest clearing.

Kakariko Village

• Look near the tree to the right of the Cucco minigame area.
• Find one in some bushes to the right of the village.
• Get the one on top of the house with a purple roof. He’s under a rock.
• Use your Sand Rod on the patch of dirt behind the Cucco home.
• During the Rupee Rush Minigame, find one on the wall to the south.

Lake Hyla

• Get one on a tile next to the House of Gales.
• Go to the east part of Lake Hyla and go underwater to get this one.
• Find a Maiamai under a large rock on the eastern side of the lake, underwater.
• Look outside the Maiamai Cave for one.
• Go south from the House of Gales and get this one underwater.

Lost Woods

• Find one under a stone near the top right entrance to the area.
• Find a Maiamai next to the Fortune Teller’s tent.
• Look below the Miner’s House, on the side of the wall.
• Look under the stone that’s on the path leading away from the Kakariko village on the right.
• Use the Titan Gloves at the top of the ledge over the Death Mountain entrance to find one.
• Get the one hiding under some bushes to the left of the Lost Woods entrance.
• Go to the entrance to the Lost Woods located above the Fortune Teller. Look for a Maiamai in a tree.
• Go to the left of the Sanctuary and find this one at the bottom of the pond.

Sanctuary & Zora River

• Check the wall in front of the waterfall by the wooden bridge.
• Find one inside the Witch’s Hut.
• There’s a Maiamai at the river to the south of Zora Fountain. Look near the top of the waterfall.
• Find one on the wall left of the Sanctuary.
• Go underwater and find one under the wooden bridge.
• Use the Lorule portal here and go to the wall on top of the graveyard.
• Find a Maiamai on a wall south of the Zora Fountain.

Swamp Ruins

• Look on the top of the statue that’s in the water. 
• In the southeast area, find a hidden cave using a bomb. Look in the pool to find a Maiamai.
• Get one from the pond near the ruins.

Lorule

Death Mountain

• Find one to the left of Treacherous Tower.
• Take the ice elevator left and up to reach a ledge. Look under the skull here.
• Look to the left of the portal. Find it under the skull.
• Look under the rock near the broken bridge.
• Check the back area of the entrance to the Ice Cavern.
• Look in the bottom right area of Death Mountain.

Lorule Castle

• Look on the wall near the entrance.
• Find one north of the Vacant House.
• Look under a rock to the left of the Vacant House.
• Find one on a wall north of the Vacant House.

Misery Mire

• Look underwater in the left area of Misery Mire.
• Check the wall below the Weather Vane.
• Look under a rock next to the Hyrule portal.

Palace of Darkness

• Look on the hill close to the palace.
• Find one left of the palace, near the guards.
• A Maiamai is on a ledge near the Hyrule portal.
• Look in the grass south of the big waterfall.
• Find one underwater by the large waterfall.
• Look on the wall by the palace entrance.
• Get one in a tree south of The Dark Place.
• Find one underwater on the outer part of the chasm. 
• Look underwater near the waterfall on the left.

Skull Woods

• Look on the right wall of Thieves Town.
• Check the bushes below the Miner’s House.
• Check the left of the house by the Hyrule portal.
• Look in the grass in the top left of the area.
• Find one in the dried up pond south of the Miner’s House.
• Look at a wall inside the ruined Miner’s House near the portal. 
• Go to the left entrance to the area and check the grass.

Swamp of Evils

• Look in the pond in the top left of the swamp.
• Find one on a wall on the east side of the swamp.
• Look on top of the statue in the bottom right swamp area.

Thieves Town

• Look in the bushes next to the Bomb Flower.
• Find one under a skull near the Lorule Derby minigame.
• Get one in a tree near the entrance by the Blacksmith’s House.
• Find one under a rock north of the Blacksmith’s House.
• Find one on the wall in the ruined building at the bottom left of Thieves Town.
• Look on the wall left of the Blacksmith’s House.
• Find one on a wall in the Lorule Rupee Rush minigame.
• Get a Maiamai on a wall to the south of the Lorule Derby minigame.
