Outpost Kaloki X - Xbox Live Arcade review

If you've already mastered mayoring Sim City and you've long since established your dominance as a rollercoaster tycoon, it's time to take your skills to new heights - like into orbit. In Outpost Kaloki X, you'll micromanage space stations to nurture nature, build businesses and establish espionage, all while attempting to rescue a ditsy princess from the evils of the universe.

While the late-90s’ graphics leave much to be desired (in 1080i, no less), Kaloki makes up for it with some genuinely amusing gameplay. The game offers two distinct campaigns with more than 30 unique scenarios, forcing you to cope with everything from limited resources to asteroid attacks. Many of the scenarios take up to half an hour to complete, and once you've beaten the game, you can go back and improve your times to earn even more Achievement points. The storyline manages to develop briskly between building sessions and throws more than a few surprises your way, though you can also skip the dialogue, burn through the plot and get to building.
