The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have both been released into the wild, with the Sony and Microsoft consoles, respectively, launching within one week of each other. Both enjoyed successful launches, racking up 1 million units sold apiece, though Sony’s 1 million was just in North America, while Microsoft’s was spread across 13 countries.
That’s at least 2 million people who have spent the maximum amount of money possible on these next-gen consoles by buying immediately. Most pre-ordered the hardware, making a commitment to buy on day one month ahead of release – despite all signs pointing to this being a bad idea.
And so we come to this week’s We Ask You, which is seeking to discover the level of satisfaction amongst PS4 and Xbox One early adopters.
We want to know, Are You Happy With Your New PS4 Or Xbox One? If you purchased either of the next-gen consoles, let us know your experiences so far. Have you had any problems? Are you happy with the choice you made? Beyond visuals what has made the jump to next-gen worthwhile? Which games, if any, do you recommend for either console?
Both next-gen consoles have a fair bit in common, even at this early stage of their lives. First up are the hardware failures, with a small percentage of both consoles not working from day one. The PS4 has its Blinking Blue Light of Death (BBLoD), while the Xbox One has serious disc drive issues.
Then there are the graphical capabilities of both, which, unless you possess superhuman vision or are a fanboy of either persuasion, are virtually identical (as the video embedded above shows). Lastly, there are the launch titles, all of which pretty much suck on both consoles.
Or are the previous two paragraphs all wrong? Does the PS4 pound the Xbox One into the dirt on one particular score? Does the Xbox One batter the PS4 with one killer feature? Let those of us who haven’t yet passed our money over the counter for one of these next-gen dream machines know how the jump has gone for you.
All comments will be read and most will be replied to, before a follow-up post is published next week containing the We Ask You Results. One reader will win ‘Comment Of The Week’, receiving a geeky T-shirt for their effort. We Ask You is a weekly column dedicated to learning the opinions of MakeUseOf readers. This column is nothing without you, as MakeUseOf is nothing without you.
