Angry Birds Go! Races to Android, iOS, Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry OS 10

After a bunch of holiday updates to its existing games, Rovio is taking its popular Angry Birds in whole new direction with Angry Birds Go! This is the first racing game from the company, the first free-to-play game, and the first one where you see all the popular Angry Birds in full 3D.

It’s a racing game set on “Piggy Island”, putting you behind the wheel of a downhill kart as Red, Chuck, Stella, King Pig, and other favorite characters from the Angry Birds universe. This means Rovio is taking on Mario Kart, one of the best Mario spin-offs.

The game has over 50 different carts and a whole range of tracks, along with different types of races. You have sprints, time travels, special events and boss races. While you start off with Red and one cart, completing challenges will let you unlock new birds and carts. You can also do that with in-app purchases, which The Verge found very annoying in its short review.

Right now, Angry Birds Go! does not support multiplayer racing, although Rovio’s Jami Laes promised that would be coming in a future update. For all that and more, we think Real Racing 3 is still the best you can get on mobiles.

You can also pair up your Angry Birds Go! game with Hasbro’s Telepods, first introduced with Angry Birds Star Wars II.
