May the 4th Be With You: Get Huge Deals on Star Wars Games Right Now

May the 4th—a day for celebration of everything Star Wars—is quickly approaching, and with it come some great deals on Star Wars video games. Whether you’re looking for the classics from twenty years ago or the latest and greatest, here’s where you’ll find good deals on some of the best Star Wars games out there.

The Classics on PC

If you’re looking for some of the earlier Star Wars games (at least in the post-Atari age), GOG.com—a great alternative to Steam—is having a sale that will help you stock your computer with a bunch of good options.

From now until May 7th, you can get discounts on games like the special editions of flight sims X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing Alliance, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and Rogue Squadron, classic ground-based shooters including Dark Forces (for if you liked some old-school Doom-like FPS action), other entries in the Jedi Knight series, and one of the all-time greats, Battlefront II.

You can also nab a number of the games that didn’t quite make it to classic status, like Galactic Battlegrounds Saga, Empire at War, and one of my personal favorites, Rebellion (a Star Wars 4X game).

There are two bundles available; the first is the Blaster Bundle, which includes all four games in the X-Wing / TIE Fighter series, Rogue Squadron, Battlegrounds Saga, and Rebellion, for $39. The Saber Bundle, which includes the entire Dark Forces / Jedi Knights series, Knights of the Old Republic and KOTOR II, Empire at War, Battlefront II, Republic Commando, and Starfighter, is priced at $22.

Steam also has great sales on their Star Wars games until May 7th, and features most of the same titles that are on Good Old Games for similar prices. They’re selling an X-Wing / TIE Fighter bundle that doesn’t come with the special editions for $27, so if you’re looking for those, GOG.com is the better way to go.

However, there is a big 14-game Star Wars bundle on Steam that includes most of the classics as well as a few more recent games, like The Force Unleashed and its sequel, as well as The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes for fans of the animated series. It doesn’t include the four games in the X-Wing / TIE Fighter series, but at $27, it’s a great deal for this many Star Wars games.

And, of course, all of the individual games on both stores are on sale as well. (Note: all of these games are available for Windows, but there are a few that you can pick up for Mac and Linux, as well.)

Newer Entries for Playstation and Xbox

If you’re looking for more recent Star Wars games, both the Playstation Network and Xbox Live have deals for you. We’ll start with Playstation, where the sale runs until May 5th.

Bounty Hunter, a PS2 classic, is now on sale, and is part of the PS3 Star Wars Throwback Pack, which also includes Dark Forces, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Starfighter, and Racer Revenge, the PS2 sequel to Episode 1: Racer. At $30, it’s not as good of a deal as you’ll find on the older games, but the fact that you’re getting more recent games might make it worth it.

The Force Unleashed II is also on sale for the PS3. And if you’re looking for Star Wars-related games, but not necessarily the types of things that have been listed so far, you can get Star Wars Pinball, Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball, and Angry Birds Star Wars, which is actually a lot of fun. Unfortunately, pinball and Angry Birds are the only options for PS4 owners.

Playstation Vita and PSP owners will be happy as well, as a number of the available games can be downloaded for portables, and there’s also the Star Wars Mega Bundle, which includes Battlefront II, Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, Battlefront: Elite Squadron, LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, and The Force Unleashed.

Xbox One owners can get a few Star Wars Pinball games, as well as Angry Birds Star Wars, on sale until May 4th. Xbox 360 will also have a sale on Star Wars Pinball, but The Force Unleashed and its sequel and two LEGO Star Wars games don’t seem to be on sale.

May the 4th Be With You

While you’re waiting for the next game in the Battlefront series and the release of The Force Awakens, playing classic Star Wars games will keep you busy.

PC gamers are getting a better deal than console gamers, but everyone has the chance to pick up some great Star Wars games on sale over the next few days. Even if you’re on a Mac or Linux computer, there are a few options on Good Old Games and Steam that you can pick up.

No one need go without a Star Wars game this May the 4th!
