Video Games How to Deal with Harassment in World of Warcraft

My friend is in trouble for her World of Warcraft accounts now.

Her exboyfriend on the World of Warcraft game continue to harass her. He would create countless alts, use his mains, and stalk her, or whisper and say demeaning things to her that have actually made her sob a few times. Unfortunately she was told that maybe she shouldn't quit cause it will show that he won and he drove her away from her guild that she co-run with her best friend on here. Now she is not gonna leave Ysera.

If others who have a WOW account are having the same issue as she is and its not being taken care of? I will give suggestions about how to protect your World of Warcraft accounts. Continue to report like snowfox has said. Also take screenshots and give those screenshots to the police. This is easily telecommunications harassment. The degree of the charge varies by state, but we would imagine that he getting hit even with one of the lower charges would (hopefully) make him think twice before acting like an idiot again.

If it moves beyond WoW it gets into cyberstalking territory too - which goes beyond Blizzard's domain into the domain of law enforcement.

What I suggest is doing some serious law research so that you don't have to pay an upfront charge to meet with a lawyer on the situation on the laws on harassment in the state you two live. If this was an online relationship that has gone south, see if you can find any specifications on that. Then, if you decide to press any charges you can, you can do that.

However, for the sake of this case just remember that someone is harassing you should be asked to stop once, and then not engaged after this point. If you haven't asked him to stop, and have engaged him in other conversation outside of asking or telling him to stop, it can be interpreted as you advocating or allowing the harassment. We suggest you get documentation if you have done that, or do it again and document that.

If he's harassing you solely on WoW (and if it's Facebook, you can contact Facebook to have that situation dealt with, I've done it before) you continue going through the proper channels with Blizzard. We can assure you that if it is in fact harassment, Blizzard will do something about it at some point and protect your WoW account safe.

You must become more active to protect your World of Warcraft accounts.
