If you’ve picked the Barbarian class in Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition for PS4 and Xbox One, you’re more than likely looking to carve your way through the onslaught of enemies, dealing as much damage as possible. Here we’ll take a look at the top Barbarian class weapons build to combat Diablo’s demonic horde.
The majority of Barbarian players use one handed weapons with the option of having a shield or another weapon in their off-hand. With that in mind, there’s no better place to start the weapon guide off than taking a look at Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
In addition to the impressive rate of 1.40 attacks per second it has a plethora of other bonuses to help inflict pain on your enemies. Depending on your luck when you find the sword, it will be granted one of 3 magical properties giving you a bonus to your strength, dexterity or intelligence. In addition to that, it will also come with a bonus to lightning damage (one bonus is stronger than the other). To make Thunderfury even more epic, every time you hit your enemy you’ll have a chance to deal somewhere between 279-372% weapon damage as lightning which will then jump to any enemies that happen to be close by. Each enemy (maximum of 5) hit by this bonus will have their attack speed reduced by 30% for 3 seconds. If for some reason you still aren’t satisfied by this ridiculous sword, there’s also a chance of it coming with an empty socket for you to beef it up even more.
One of the better things about Thunderfury is that the level for it to actually drop is only 31. It will obviously scale with what level you are, so to get a more powerful one you’ll have to farm for it, but considering how powerful it is, it would be worth your time.
Depending on the luck of the draw it can take you a long time to get Thunderfury to drop; therefore looking at substitutions for it is a good idea. The legendary mace Devastator is a good place to start. Unlike Thunderfury, to acquire the Devastator in Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition you’ll have to create it using your good old friend the blacksmith. You’ll need to plan for him to be able to craft it and various materials including Reusable Parts, Arcane Dust, Veiled Crystals, Forgotten Souls and Death’s Breath.
At 1.20 attacks per second the Devastator won’t be breaking any speed records, but it will break a lot of bones. The minimum level required to use the Devastator is level 70, therefore you’re looking at a base damage of between 1834–2154 per second. It will automatically boost any fire skills you have by 15-20% which is very handy. 4 more random magical properties and a bonus fire damage of its own adding on 981-1490 damage extra rounds off a fantastic weapon.
If you don’t feel like going out of your way to craft the Devastator, The Burning Axe of Sankis may be what you’re looking for. A legendary axe with a minimum level of 60, it will also grant you to 15-20% fire skills damage like the Devastator. Another handy trick this weapon has is that like the Barbarian’s ‘Ignore Pain’ skill which reduces incoming damage for 5 seconds, Sankis will also grant you a chance of obtaining slightly less effective version of this for 4 seconds. A further 3 random magic properties and one of two fire damage magic properties will also be added on to this already fearsome weapon (depending on your luck you could get the stronger fire damage boost or weaker one).
Next in line is the Sun Keeper, a one handed mace with more than a few tricks up its sleeve. Another minimum level 60 drop weapon, depending on your luck when you find it – it will increase your damage against Elite enemies by a whopping 15-30%. Uniquely, it also comes with a 26-60% boost to the gold received from enemies, just so you can bathe in gold pieces rather than demon blood for a change. It will drop with a guaranteed boost to holy damage, again depending on your luck it will be the stronger or weaker of the boosts. Another 2 random magical properties accompany this with a guaranteed generous boost to one of the Dexterity, Strength or Intelligence skills.
For any Barbarians who think using a shield is a sign of weakness or using another weapon in your off-hand is a waste, Maximus the two handed sword will satisfy your needs. Level 60 will be the minimum level you have to be before you can start searching for it, but it will be worth your time. Akin to the Devastator and Burning Axe of Sankis it will grant you a 15-20% boost to your fire skills. A guaranteed fire damage boost will accompany this with a chance to boost one of your Dexterity, Strength or Intelligence skills too. Another 2 magical properties will be slapped on top of what is already a very impressive weapon, but the crowning glory of Maximus comes in its ability to potentially summon a Demonic Slave ally on every hit. The chance of actually summoning this handy helper is actually quite high. Once it has been summoned it will be chained to your character by a scorching fire link which will absolutely decimate your foes in Diablo III Ultimate Evil Edition. If you summon the demon, as crazy as it sounds, your best bet is to stop attacking, and just run around and catch everything in the path of the fire link to incinerate any idiot that looked to stand in your way. He will stick around for 15 seconds to aid you, a 15 seconds which can instantly turn the tide of battle.
