Roulette is a game of chance. It really is up to fate to determine where that little ball will land and it is nearly impossible to find a technique that will get you winning and keep you winning with every spin of the wheel. However, there are ways that you can gain short-term success, but with all gambling strategies, it is just as easy to lose it all if you do not have a stopping point.
The Martingale Roulette Strategy
The Martingale Strategy is one that involves doubling your bet. However, the key here is to quit when you're ahead. Here is how this strategy works.
If you lose a bet, double your wager. For instance, if you bet $1 on black and lost, then bet $2 on black. If you win, then you leave slightly richer than you were. However, if you lose again, you need to put $4 on black.
Basically, you keep doubling your bet until you feel that you are better off cutting your losses and leaving the table. For instance, if you keep losing for seven bets straight and your bet was $5 initially, then your seventh bet is going to be $420. This means you have already lost $415 and you may be better off just quitting and cutting your losses.
Remember, this is a short-term strategy only. As soon as you win one game, you've won in the short term. Whether you continue betting is up to you. The theory behind this strategy is that even if you lose several in a row, you are bound to win some time and hopefully you'll have a big bet on the table when you do.
Also, there are variations on roulette that you need to be aware. This strategy does not work on tables that have an upper limit. This is because in the end, you will not be able to double your bet at a certain point and you will not be able to because of the upper limit.
Comprehensive Roulette Strategy
This strategy requires a bit of preparation. You will want to watch the wheel for a while until you develop a pattern in how the table is running. Write down the first number that hits as low (L), middle (M) or high (H). Keep watching the wheel until you see a pattern emerge where low, middle or high has not appeared in five spins. For instance, you may have MHMMH where there is no L for five spins. Or, you might have a LHHLH where you have no M for five spins. If the wheel hits 0, don't count this as one of your five spins.
Now that you have your pattern, you are able to begin your betting. You will bet on the category that has not come up in the five spins you have documented. Your first bet will be for a $1 and then will progress as follows until you win:
Bet Number Bet Amount Profit on Win
1 1 2
2 2 3
3 3 2
4 4 2
5 6 2
6 9 2
7 13 1
8 20 2
9 30 2
10 45 2
11 67 1
Just like the Martingale Strategy, it is suggested that you quit once you win. However, if you don't win, then keep betting following the chart. The likelihood of you winning actually increases as you move down the chart and follow the betting procedure. This is because the category has not appeared for much longer than mathematics tells us it should.
After your first win, you are most likely not going to want to stop, so go back to step 1 and record the sequences of the wheel again until a category is missing. Always start with bet 1 on the table and work your way down until you win.
If you get a 0, this counts as a loss for you, so keep following the chart.
More Roulette Strategy Information
Because you don't have any effect on how the game plays out in roulette, you have more of your money in the hands of chance. Casinos also tend to have rules that affect the house edge to a minimum. Here are a few rules you should watch for, as they may hinder your ability to win.
Surrender
This is a special rule that should not be confused with the surrender in blackjack. This rule applies to outside bets, such as odd and even or red and black. If the ball lands on 0 or 00, then you only lose half of your bet. This affects the house's edge a lot, after all it is the 0 and 00 that causes the edge to be higher in the first place. These payoffs aren't as good for the outside bets, but at least you don't lose completely.
Look for Tables with Only One O
This is found on European tables, but they can sometimes be found in the US and not just in Europe. These tables offer you better odds and reduced house edge significantly. These tables can often be found in online casinos. You may or may not be able to locate them in Las Vegas or other US casinos.
"En Prison"
This is another rule you want to be aware of. This rule comes into play when the ball lands on 0 and only applies to the outside, even-money bets. In this case, the player does not necessarily lose his or her bet immediately, but is able to keep their bet on the board "en prison." Then, the next spin decides whether or not you win. If the previous bet won, the money is returned back to the player, but there are no extra winnings on the second spin. If the bet loses, the money is taken away and if the second spin results in 0 as well, the bet will remain "en prison."
Roulette Winning Tips
Always stick to the strategy you are employing. Don't change up your routine in the middle or you will not have an established pattern. Changes are that you will just be randomly betting if you do not stick to your chosen strategy.
Also, avoid playing one table longer than thirty minutes. This is because you need to keep your concentration and after thirty minutes, it can become difficult to maintain your concentration and your system.
