How to get into the Destiny Beta for free

Bungie is getting ready to launch the Destiny Beta in July for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3. The test is only going to be open for pre-order customers, but thanks to a loophole in Amazon’s pre-order system, you can get into the beta without spending a dime. Here’s how you can get the Destiny Beta for any platform, for free.

Step 1: Go to Amazon

Head to Amazon and pre-order Destiny for the platform of your choice. Wait, you said this was free? Well it is. Amazon doesn’t charge you until they ship the game, and they’ll issue your Destiny code almost immediately.

For this example, we’ll pre-order Destiny for the PlayStation 4. Go through the process of making the order, if you don’t have an Amazon account or a credit card on file, you will need to supply those to get through this process.

Once you successfully place your order on Amazon, you’ll get an order confirmation from the retailer, and shortly after, you’ll get another email with your code for the Destiny Beta.

Step 2: Redeem the Code

Go to Bungie’s code redemption and registration page and redeem the code that Amazon has sent you. If you don’t have a Bungie account, you’ll need to create one of those now. Bungie will want to verify your email address, and tie the pre-order to your PlayStation Network Account for this example.

Once you’ve successfully entered the code that you’ve received from Amazon, Bungie will reserve your spot in the Destiny Beta. Your Bungie account will now have a reservation, and those that have registered and redeemed codes will be sent an email to their verified address when the beta download codes are available.

Step 3: Cancel your pre-order

After you’ve registered for the beta, you can then head back to Amazon to cancel your order. Since Amazon hasn’t shipped you anything, they likely haven’t charged your credit card for the purchase. You’ll have gotten a beta code, and can check the game out and see if you like it.

The Destiny Beta is due begin on July 17th for the PS4 & PS3. Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be getting a beta shortly thereafter. The same process is applicable to the Xbox One and Xbox 360, but there may be a little longer wait in getting the code.
