Using this method, you will be able to scrap over 2500 Wood and 1000 Steal which comes to 14000 XP right at the start of the game. Here is the step by step guide on how to make use of this quick and easy trick to get 14000 XP right at the start of the game.

Step 1:
Get to the first settlement (workstation), it's just outside the vault.

Step 2:
Scrap everything you find. Except the crafting stations. maybe keep a tv/radio.

Step 3:
Find a blank wall (like outside of houses).

Step 4:
Via the crafting system place as many steel "signs" as you can, they overlap so just do it in one location. +4XP per sign.

Step 5:
Repeat with wooden "pictures", again +4xp per one, but don't overlap so well so take up more space.

Step 6:
Once you are all out of steel and wood go back and scrap all those signs and pictures.

Step 7:
Now you have enough to build a settlement if you want to.
