Are you a bad enough dude to save Santas Claus? Find out with Game Front’s guide to “How the Saints Save Christmas” and bring holiday cheer back to the alien-infested virtual world of Saints Row 4.
The Boss isn’t feeling the Christmas spirit — until future Shaundi teleports onto the ship from the cyberpocalypse, warning humanity of evil Santa’s cruel global dictatorship. Travelling to the oppressed virtual ’50s, the North Pole, and back to the chaotic streets of Steelport, the boss embarks on a quest to rid Christmas of the evil Santa Clawz.
Check out the walkthrough below, or skip ahead to our gallery of screenshots to watch the Boss’ small heart grew three sizes that day. For more open-world antics, check out our Saints Row 3 walkthrough.
How the Saints Save Christmas
Saints Row 4
Miracle on 3rd Street
It really is the most wonderful time of the year – time for more Saints Row 4 DLC. This one’s all about the season of giving, and it’s no surprise the Boss is a huge Grinch.
Get the mission started by activating it in the quest tab. Scroll down and pick it from the list, then return to the ship.
Everyone is busy decorating, but the Boss is too lazy / surly to pitch in. Even a soulless AI like CID is getting in on the cheer.
The scene turns ugly when Future Shaundi arrives to bring horrible news; Santa has gone evil! To save the future, the Saints must save Christmas.
And so starts the DLC episode, with Future Shaundi and her cybernetic implants by your unarmed, sweater-wearing side.
Returning to the ’50s, the first objective marker points the Boss to a store. There are no powers here (yet) so you’ll have to settle for a mild jog over to the blue marker.
Kick through the glass, and grab a new weapon; the Crimson Cowboy Air Rifle – no resemblance to the Red Rider Air Rifle.
Stealing puts the Boss on evil Santa Clawz’ naughty list. The town turns dark as the demonic sleigh flies overhead, converting ’50s denizens into twisted Gingerbread Men.
The chewy bakery-fresh soldiers aren’t so different from your run-of-the-mill alien troops. The Crimson Cowboy rifle will take care of these minions. The gun’s pellets will bounce around too – don’t shoot your eye out!
Fight through the Gingerbread Men toward the target marker to kill Clawz in the park. If you’re low on health, grab the glowing blue pick-ups the bad guys drop as the Boss guns them down.
Think that cheap toy gun is enough to take down Santa Clawz? Think again. Shoot at him, and you’ll get a nasty ricochet…
Not only does Santa get pegged, but so does the Boss’ right eye! Rush over and revive the TRUE Santa Claus, stuck wearing a ratty suit with barely a layer of fat on him.
With Santa saved, lead the fat ol’ elf to the park where you’ll find Holiday Bells. Ring each to unlock your remaining weapons and powers. Each bell will provide the Boss with something he was missing – you can either ring about five of the bells and more on, or shoot them all to get your missing powers back.
After ringing the first few, the Boss will get super speed and super jump unlocked. That makes ringing the remaining bells super-easy. No reason not to, right? It also unlocks an achievement.
Watch out for a new enemy – the Toy Soldiers! These Terminator-style toys stomp around, firing laser miniguns or spraying mines. Blast these suckers with heavy weapons, shotguns, or throw fire blasts to knock them out of commission.
With the bells ringing in the holidays, it’s time to put on a Christmas movie at the theater. All theaters need a projector, so it’s time to fish one out of the pool. Does Clawz’ evil have no limit?
Watch out, the pool is protected by Toy Soldiers and Gingerbread Men on the rooftops. Dash and glide above, dropping fire blasts or use a little mind control to get a handle on the situation.
When the area is clear, stomp on the frozen water to reveal the sunken projector underneath.
Use Telekinesis to lift the projector up. Don’t worry, you can use super speed and super leaps with TK still active.
With the projector, run and jump to the drive-in theater and jam the device onto the square marker – no need to throw it, just nudge the TK’d physics object into the peg to attach it.
The projector generates enough holiday spirit to bring down Clawz’ sleigh, but not enough to stop him. The theater needs more power! CID is already on the case. Meet him at the clocktower, where swarms of bad guys are waiting.
Clear the toys and baked goods out with a few well-placed rockets or blast/stomps. Whatever’s the most Christmas-y way to kill evil-doers.
The goal is to protect CID until the yellow meter fills up. When that’s done, jump up onto the roof.
CID needs the Boss to lick the pole – y’know, to better conduct electricity. After refusing once, just do it. Christmas is on the line here, there’s no time to wimp out!
Now that the power is back on, return to the projector at the theater and turn it on. The movie? Why, it’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” which really is a seasonal classic.
Now Clawz is vulnerable. Rocket or blast the collected cars below to destroy a vast majority of the bad guys in the drive-in, and get rid of Clawz’ annoying tendency to toss cars at you.
Blast Clawz until he’s brown bread. Unfortunately, the evil fatman feeds off naughtiness. Once he’s down, run to the body and try to finish him off.
He’ll just fly away! This isn’t over, not by a long shot. Time to take the fight up to the North Pole.
Mission Rewards:
Weapon – Crimson Cowboy Rifle
Homie – Future Shaundi
Clothing – Xmas Sweater.

The Fight Before Christmas
The North Pole is under siege. Clawz has taken over, and Mrs. Claus and the elves have formed a roughshod resistance against his diabolical (and naughty) rule.
Just check out the image above – a candy cane in a fist. Just like the workers of Mars in Red Faction: Guerrilla, the elves fight their oppressors to the last.
Run to the courtyard outside Santa’s workshop. It’s time for a Kringle-style regime-change.
The courtyard itself is festooned with the severed heads of Santa’s precious reindeer. The poor old elf can’t contain his sadness – get revenge and clear the courtyard of Toy Soldiers and Gingerbread Men. Watch out for the tiny elves, those little guys are on your side.
Reinforcements will swarm in after clearing most of the yard. Keep pushing, use TK to smash the MurderBots or to throw the soldiers around for fun. The Boss has all his powers intact now.
It doesn’t hurt to grab the laser miniguns or mine layers and use them against the bad guys. They’re no good for the snipers on the rooftops, but even pistols can quickly take care of those bready chumps.
When the courtyard is finally clear, meet Claus at the workshop door. Now you’ve got an option.
Lick the door, or go to the stables. If you really want, the Boss can lick through the candy cane barricade, but it takes a long time. Licking through the door will earn an achievement, but killing is always more fun. Get more murder at the stables.
Unsurprisingly, both buildings are swarming with Gingerbread Men and Toy Soldiers. Wipe them out before interacting with the robotic reindeer – a single shot will break the Boss out of his animation cycle.
How does one disable robo-reindeer? By sticking your hand up it’s exhaust port, duh. Shut down both reindeer at the right-most stable, then the second pair at the left-most stable. Don’t miss the one sitting outside, in it’s own little grazing area. How cute.
There are tons of Gingerbread Men outside, so you better smash the crackers into crumbs before even attempting to stick your hand up that reindeer’s rump.
Next, the devious Twinkle appears. This back-stabbing elf turned on the real Santa to join Clawz. Use a nice super jump to spot the blue star icon and follow it with a combination of gliding and running. Eventually he’ll lead you around to a spot to the left of the workshop entrance.
Twinkle comes prepared with his cadre of GIANT ELVES. Or normal-sized dudes, whatever. Kill their stupid faces.
More of the buggers will drop into the area while you fight. Twinkle isn’t especially tough – dual-SMGs directed into the guy’s head will solve your problem.
Twinkle does have a rocket launcher and TK powers, so it is a good idea to keep moving. If you see him standing still, hit him with a fire blast, or stomp him, or do anything that’ll throw the goon off his game.
Once he’s dead, the side-entrance to the workshop will open.
Inside the warehouse, a hallway will stretch toward a conveyor on the right. To the left, you’ll find Christmas presents. Time for a little Metal Gear stealth-action – put on the present box and amble toward the sorting machine to enter the workshop proper with Santa.
See? Told you. Playing with present boxes isn’t just for babies anymore.
Mary Claus is already in the workshop, kicking ass with the elves. Join her and clear the area. It’s total chaos, and there isn’t a ton of room to move. Try sticking to basic weapons, rockets, and blasts to get rid of Clawz’ minions.
When the area is clear, go upstairs to Santa’s office.
This festive little room is full of goodies. Mary will grab the North Pole – it’s a weapon! Kind of like a baseball bat, or a pole you smack people with. Don’t worry, you’ll get it too when the mission is over.
Don’t miss the Santa letter on Claus’s desk, and then get your present inside the giant treasure chest. Why, it’s a…
An XMAS music gun! With this kind of cheer, Clawz might finally be defeated. Test it out back in the workshop, where a new swarm of bad guys will appear with their boss.
Clawz can only be hurt with the Christmas Gun. Don’t try anything else against him, it won’t work. Other things -will- work on his minions, though, so go nuts.
Find some solid cover, and hide behind it while Clawz is distracted by Miss Claus, then unleash the Christmas Gun. Clawz loves throwing energy blasts at the Boss while he’s slow, so simply step back behind cover and the big bad guy will give up the attack.
When Clawz is defeated, he’ll just retreat. Defeat any remaining Gingerbread Men, then exit the workshop through the front entrance down the hall.
You’ll be greeted by cheering elves and fireworks! The unhappy workers are viciously finished off the last Gingerbread Men, but that isn’t the Boss’ problem. Get in the shiny sleigh inside Santa’s hangar down the road to complete the mission.
Clawz is trying to sap cheer from Virtual Steelport. Time to deliver presents and chew bubblegum, etc.

Saints Row 4
The Santa Clawz
A monstrous, massive Clawz is under an impenetrable shield in Steelport, yucking it up with his naughty soldiers.
If the Boss doesn’t bring Steelport some serious holiday cheer, Clawz will become invincible.
It just so happens Santa Claus’ sleigh has just the tools you need. His flying vehicle fires presents (which gradually recharge) or automatic coal pellets.
There are three locations where the boss can rain cheer down. Each house is marked naughty or nice. Naughty houses just need a deadly spray of coal. Nice houses need about 4 presents each.
You’re on a tight time-limit of about eight (8) minutes, so move fast! Don’t fly too high, and switch to jet-mode to get from location to location.
At each location, switch back to hover-mode, then unload into the marked homes. Presents for blue, coal for red. 4 presents to a nice house, and lots of coal directly into a red house. Keep shooting until scary horns or candy cane appear over the target-home.
While waiting for your presents to recharge, try knocking out those evil sleighs on Santa’s mudflaps. A couple of coal pellets will knock the buggers out of the sky.
When all three zones are cheer-ified, it’s time to confront Clawz in the park outside the old Syndicate Tower.
Fly in close, and the pure naughty energy will cause the Sleigh to crash. Of course, Santa’s just fine. Future Shaundi and Mrs. Claus will appear to help defeat Clawz – but that devil is still powering up behind his shield.
Fight the swarms of Gingerbread Men and Toy Soldiers in the plaza until you’re given a new mission – light the symbols of the season to create even more cheer.
Use fire blast on the Kinara first, then rush over to get the Menorah lit and ready with a second fire blast.
After that, the Boss will need to go to… the pole. The Festivus Pole. What to do with it? A feat of strength, of course! Use stomp to wipe the pole out, and continue with the airing of grievances.
With cheer at an all-time high in Steelport, return to Clawz. Pick off some Gingerbread Men to get a little health infusion – you’ll need it for the final confrontation.
Things aren’t over yet, the shield is still up. There’s one way to bring more cheer, and that’s to deliver more presents. In a last minute save, Kinzie shows up to deliver more presents to the people.
Grab the extra boxes with TK and toss them at nice citizens (marked in blue) to make the world even happier. This gets tricky, later on Clawz will start converting nice citizens, so you’ll need to be quick.
To make sure a present hits a nice citizen, walk up to them and touch the floating box to the NPC, then let it loose. That should guarantee a hit.
When enough presents are delivered, Monster Clawz’ shield will finally drop. Now you can take him on, mano-a-kringle.
Once again, regular weapons won’t harm Clawz. You’ll have to defeat him the only way Santa knows how – giving him presents!
That’s easier said than done. Clawz fights like a Warden. He jumps around, stomps the ground, and tosses concussive blasts all over the jolly place. He’s a menace, and landing a present on him ain’t easy.
For this fight, the Boss needs to avoid Clawz’ many stunning attacks. Jump when he stomps – as long as you aren’t touching the ground, you won’t be flung up into the sky like a ragdoll. You can keep moving with the TK’d present, so do it.
When it’s time, wait for Clawz to stand still. Walk up to him, touch the present against the giant character model, then throw. If you can’t get too close, just remember to only throw presents when Clawz is standing still – it seems like the only time they will properly connect.
Deliver three (3) gifts and Clawz will finally be defeated. Congratulations, Boss, you’ve saved Christmas!
