Fire Emblem: Awakening Advanced Classes Guide: Battle Cleric, Valkyrie

Now that we have covered all the basic starter classes, it’s time to take a look at the advanced classes included in Fire Emblem: Awakening. Most of these classes are actually more specialized versions of the starter classes and feature overall better growth and skills. It’s important to play around with the class change system to make the advanced classes as strong as they can be. Changing a mage into a physical oriented class won’t be doing you any good since all the bonus stats will be related to the magic stat and so on. It’s still possible to make some drastic changes but it’s going to require more work and it’s probably not worth it. Still, the possibility is there to customize your army to your likings.

  • Battle Cleric

The Battle Cleric is a female only class and it’s quite a strange that can do both attacking and healing: the thing is that offensively this class can’t really be used for a few reasons. Even when wileding the strongest Axes available, it only takes a couple counter attacks to kill them due to low defense. Resistance is slightly better so they may become more useful against mages, but I still wouldn’t reccomend it. The only good reason I can find to use this class is to reach level 15 and learn the Renewel skill: for both healing and attacking there are way better classes available. Battle Cleric learns the Rally Luck skill at level 5 and the Renewel skill at level 15. They promote from the Cleric starter class.

  • Valkyrie

The Valkyrie is a nice class coming with the really good Dual Support+ Skill which increases the Dual Support power. It’s also a mounted unit and has a great movement range. All the stats have actually avarage growth, with the Magic and HP stats probably getting quite high at level 20. They can wield both tomes and staves so consider the Valkyrie as another magic type hybrid: they are actually good at both offense and defense so if you’re fond for hybrids, this class may do good for you. Learn some skills which improve magic to make this class even more useful. Valkyrie learns the Rally Resistance skill at level 5 and the Dual Support + skill at level 15. They promote from the Troubador starter class.
