Destiny: The Taken King Guide - How to Infuse Weapons and Armor

Destiny: The Taken King introduces a new system that allows you to upgrade your Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor to have higher stats. This guide will teach you how to Infuse your gear, why you'll want to Infuse, and the best ways to do it.

Why Infuse gear?

The reason to Infuse gear is to upgrade its Attack and Defense rating, which in turn increases your light level. Having a high light level allows you to participate in challenging activities and take on more difficult enemies.

If you have an Exotic or Legendary weapon that you're particularly fond of and enjoy using, you'll probably want to Infuse it and upgrade its stats as much as you can.

How does Infusing work?

You can only infuse Legendary and Exotic weapons and armor. To Infuse an item, it will need to fit the following criteria:

  • The item you want to Infuse must have a lower Attack or Defense rating than the item to be dismantled in the process
  • Both items must belong to the same year (Year Two)
What do you need to Infuse gear?

To infuse a Legendary item, you'll need a small amount of Glimmer, 10 Weapon Parts or Armor Material, 3 Legendary Marks, and 1 Mote of Light.

To infuse an Exotic item, you'll need a small amount of Glimmer, 10 Weapon Parts or Armor Material, 3 Legendary Marks, and 1 Exotic Shard.

That can get pretty expensive over multiple Infusions, so be certain the item you're choosing to Infuse is something you want to keep in the long run.
