After the immense success of Telltale Games episodic undead epic, The Walking Dead, it has been gearing up for the release of season two: episode 2 featuring the exploits of young Clementine. Tantalisingly labelled “Coming Soon” on the official website, Telltale has posted two trailers for what to expect from the new season.
Not to be confused with the woeful TV series tie-in pairing Daryl and Merle, Survival Instinct, Telltale has accrued countless Game of the Year awards and nominations for their efforts in season 1 of the story-driven survival game. Based on Robert Kirkman’s comic books, flawless script-writing and genuinely poignant in-game decisions affect several plot paths while characters can come and go depending on your say.
Gamers wept into their controllers after seeing Lee and Clementine’s journey across Georgia come to an emotional end last year, and the DLC, 400 Days, released shortly after the final episode gave fans a chance to follow some new paths involving five different characters which aims to bridge the gap between the first and second seasons. The developer has informed us that the decisions made both in the first season and the DLC will directly affect the story in season two, so if you haven’t already completed them then what are you waiting for?
Further great news for those sharing tastes in watching zombie thrillers and sword-wielding fantasy dramas is that the very same developer is taking the reins on a proper Game of Thrones tie-in, something fans have been crying out for after a false dawn with the shoddy Thrones RPG effort from Cyanide Studios. The thought of picturing Sean Bean’s disappointment while playing that game should cast great shame on Cyanide and spur Telltale to create a masterpiece fit to stand alongside their Walking Dead series.
The only downer is that Telltale will not be releasing season two on current-gen consoles (for now) so you will have to dust off your old Xbox 360s and PS3s (or PS Vitas!?) in order to find out what happens next while this time controlling the story through Clementine. The tantalising trailers have been made available to watch on the official game site (and below) so go ahead and get amped for quality gaming coming soon!
