Titanfall Pilot Loadouts Guide

Unless you are playing Titan-specific modes in Titanfall, you will start as a Pilot on foot. While not as glamorous as charging around in your souped-up Titan with huge guns, it’s just as important to have yourself well equipped. Here we’ll take a look at the Pilot loadouts available to you in the Titanfall Beta. Your Pilot will always have one of each of the following:

• Primary Weapon
• Anti-Titan Weapon
• Sidearm
• Tactical Ability
• Ordnance
• Tier 1 Kit
• Tier 2 Kit

The standard loadouts in Titanfall will be what you are stuck with until you level up and complete challenges. Until you can make a custom Pilot you have three options – Rifleman, Assassin and CQB.

Rifleman

The Rifleman is your everyday standard assault class that will seem familiar from a bunch of other FPS games. Your primary weapon will be the R-101C Carbine. It is a fully automatic assault rifle useful in all combat situations whether it be close quarters, medium range or long range. This class also gives you a HCOG sight for your carbine for better vision.

Anti-titan weapons do exactly what they say on the tin, they deal damage to Titans. Whilst your normal guns will do damage to the Titans, AT weapons are much more effective. The Rifleman loadout will hand you an Archer Rocket Launcher. It works in the same way a Stinger does in Battlefield 4. Aim at your target until you are locked on then fire. If you lose sight of your enemy before the launcher locks on, you won’t be able to fire the rocket.

Your sidearm here will be the Hammond P2011. A simple pistol that will be native to any FPS player. A single fire, iron sighted Pistol. Nothing to get too excited about but as ever an important weapon if you manage to empty your primary weapon before killing your foe.

Tactical abilities are activated by pressing the LB button. After using them you can see the cooldown meter at the bottom of your screen. With the Rifleman class you will be given the ‘Cloak’ ability. Unsurprisingly this will grant you a short time of being invisible. Whilst it’s not completely impossible to see someone using cloak, considering the fast pace of Titanfall it can be a useful tool to grab you extra kills.

The ordnance included in this class is frag grenades. Again, nothing innovative or too exciting, but effective and extremely useful all the same.

The tier kits will enhance your pilot even further giving them extra abilities. Here you’ll be given the explosives pack (tier 1) for an extra grenade and a dome shield (tier 2) for your titan when it is ready to fall. This will give it extra protection time before it switches on and operates as an auto-titan and become vulnerable to damage. Very useful if you die and spawn a long way from your Titan.

Assassin

The Assassin class is designed to go about its business being stealthy but equally lethal.

Your primary weapon will be the Smart Pistol MK5. This nifty little guy takes aiming down sight out of the equation and locks onto your enemy in 3 separate places for an instant kill. With this class you’ll also be given a suppressor to stay off the radar.

The sidearm included here is the Hammond’s counterpart – the Re-45 Autopistol. A fully automatic pistol with a high fire rate.

Your Anti-titan weapon here will be the Sidewinder. The alternative to the Archer launcher features an almost assault rifle pace of fire of mini rockets, taking out the need to lock on.

The tactical ability and Ordnance for the Assassin class is the same as the Rifleman, cloak and frag grenades. However, the tier kits differ. Power Cell (Tier 1) will recharge your tactical ability quicker enabling you to be cloaked more often. The minion detector in Tier 2 will show all minions on your mini-map at all times – perfect for a game mode like Attrition.

CQB

This class is perfect for game modes where you will be encountering enemies frequently in buildings a la Hardpoint Domination.

The CQB class blesses you with the EVA-8 Shotgun. As ever with shotguns in FPS games, it features a wide area spread when firing. Fairly useless if you see an enemy far away, but if they fly around the corner into your face, it will blast them into oblivion.

The Hammond pistol will be your sidearm here, accompanied with the Sidewinder for your anti-Titan weapon. Again you’ll be able to cloak with this class and have frag grenades to blow up the bad guys. Where it does differ again though is the Tier 1 kit which will grant you the Enhanced Parkour ability. This will help your Pilot wallrun and wallhang for longer durations giving you the chance to get up close and personal as quickly as possible. A dome shield for Tier 2 completes the CQB class.
