Depending on your viewpoint, collectibles in Battlefield 4 can either be a fun addition to lengthen the game's playtime, or a complete and utter pain. With the invention of achievements and trophies however, they’ve become that bit more ‘must have’. It’s ok if you’re just here for them, we won’t tell anyone. Honest!
Baku
Dog Tag #1
Almost immediately after starting you’ll go through something akin to a control tutorial (sprinting, crouching etc). After completing your ascent of the first set of stairs you come across, continue down the hallway until you get to a table you can jump over. Instead of jumping over, turn to your right and open the door. Dead in front of you stuck into the wall will be your first dog tag. Easy peasy.
Dog Tag #2
After clearing the first open area you come to after saving your squadmate, you will progress to the back of the area and told to jump down the hole, don’t. Instead, hang to the left of where the hole is and jump over the locker. Continue forwards and you’ll see the tag stuck in the wall to the left near a window.
Dog Tag #3
Very simple one here. After the cutscene with the chopper simply walk around to the front of the wreckage and look just above the cockpit to net your third tag.
Shanghai
Dog Tag #4
After getting out of the car from the opening, Pac will walk towards a tree in front of you. While him and Irish are trying to open a door to the left, take a right where the tree was. Go around the corner and take a left, and another left after that. Continue around the corner and you’ll see the fourth tag stuck in the wooden door on the left hand side.
Dog Tag #5
The second time the elevator opens simply walk out and turn right around. The tag will be above the elevator door.
Dog Tag #6
When you finally escape the tank after running through the streets (you’ll hear Pac shout ‘Are we through?’) you’ll see a tree to the right with a red light near it. Just beyond it is a metal gate. The tag will be right here stuck in the wall.
South China Sea
Dog Tag #7
When the marine is done spouting nonsense and you get control of Recker, walk out of the cabin and forwards. Keep your eyes to the right side of the aisle until you come to the open cabin with red lockers (just before the guy on the ladder). In the top bunk bed on the right you’ll find the seventh tag waiting for you.
Dog Tag #8
You’ll find this tag underwater. After diving in continue swimming until you see a fire above the water. All the NPCs will take a right through the doorway at the end, instead of following them continue forwards and look to the left. The tag will be stuck in the wall next to the wreckage.
Dog Tag #9
Once you’ve fought your way back topside on the Valkyrie (just after seeing Hannah laying out a couple Chinese Spec Ops) you’ll step out onto a massive gunfight aboard the ship. To find the next tag you’ll want to immediately turn around and run towards the back end of the ship. Locate the chopper furthest left on your screen and walk around the cockpit side. The tag will be inside the cockpit.
Singapore
Dog Tag #10
Once you’ve hit the beach with your boat a la Saving Private Ryan, disembark and immediately head to the left as safely as possible. You’ll come across a small white boat washed up, swing around the side to find the next tag stuck in it’s hull.
Dog Tag #11
After blowing your merry way through the streets of Singapore in the tank you’ll come to a point where it isn’t possible to progress any further other than on foot. After clearing the initial batch of enemies waiting for you you’ll come to some glass panels looking down on a bar. More enemies await you in here, kill them then drop down. After jumping down head to the right behind the bar and look under it (opposite the copious amount of alcohol) to find your eleventh tag.
Dog Tag #12
This one is a fun one. Fight your way to the hanger containing the big jumbo jet. Ideally clear the enemies from the room before you attempt to get this as you’ll have your back to enemies with not much cover. Once you’ve done this go to the other side of the plane to which you entered the room. Now you have two choices. Either go to the little staircase near the wing, climb up that and jump onto the wing and pick up the tag. Or do the super awesome thing and blow the plane’s engine and run up the wing to take the tag (the tag looks a bit glitchy if you do it this way, but you will do it this way, right?)
Kunlun Mountains
Dog Tag #13
Save Irish from his wrestling buddy and proceed through a couple doors until you see a bunch of lockers to your left. Turn right after the door into the darkness, hug the left wall where it’s pitch black and look around in the dark until you get a prompt to ‘Pick up collectible’. Press square (PS3/PS4) or X (Xbox 360/Xbox One) to bag yourself another tag.
Dog Tag #14
When you’ve gone up the elevator you’ll come across a gunfight. Clear this and proceed around to the left. You should see a big pillar with ‘B3’ on it. Continue shooting your way through down the left hand side. The first ladder you come across is the one you’ll need to climb (just before the big yellow cargo doors). Continue along up here until you get to a doorway to your left. Ignore the door and look at the power box right next to it, the tag is stuck in here.
Dog Tag #15
Fight your way up the slope to the cable car. When the ramp is clear to go up it, don’t. Instead, run underneath until you hit the concrete. Watch your step and peer over the edge to find the tag in the middle of the platform.
Tashgar
Dog Tag #16
Continue through the level all the way until you find Russian forces with their backs to you attacking Old Town. Be warned, this is another tag where you’ll want/need to clear the enemy forces (especially the tank) before attempting to collect the tag. Upon getting to this area stay towards the right side. You’ll see a building with a couple of blue sheets hanging by the stairways. Go up here and take the MBT LAW launcher on the roof. Descend back down the stairs and around the corner. There is a blue truck parked in one of the archways, destroy it and enter the truck’s wreckage from the back where you can now climb in. The tag will be straight ahead of you.
Dog Tag #17
Proceed through the level until you reach the dam. Clear the first part of the dam and move into the middle of it. You’ll have a ramp going up on the left, and a flat part on the right. Go up the ramp. Take out the enemies, especially the guy on the chaingun and climb up the stairs to where the chaingun is. Take care of any lingering enemies around you but stay on the roof. Now, jump across to the scaffolding that you can reach from this roof (it’s in line with the white power container), the tag is right in front of you.
Suez
Dog Tag #18
Shortly after taking the chopper out in the first part of the level you’ll come to an ammo box. Jump down to the left and take note of the plane on the edge to the left (you’ll be able to see it on your mini map too). Fight your way forward until you have control of the front of the plane. Climb on top the front of it and walk to the back. Look to the left and pick up your penultimate tag.
Dog Tag #19
Your final tag is located in the infirmary when you reunite with Garrison. Whilst they are talking check out the bed behind the curtains to the right of where they are. It’s right in the middle waiting for you to pick it up.
