Hints and Tips for success in Destinys Beta

After hours of onslaught in Activision and Bungie’s Destiny beta, this Guardian needs a rest up in the Tower! However, instead, there is wise knowledge and advice to pass onto Guardians stationed by Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS3, waiting in the wings for July 23rd and this is the guide to provide it. Destiny contains a universe with seemingly endless numbers of options for you to take, whether you’re looking to explore vast landscapes or take on enemy species and fellow Guardians, there are numerous ways you can go about your days as a Guardian in Destiny beta. However it has to be said that some ways are better than others, if you have any desire of being successful in this top 2014 first-person shooter game. The 5 hints and tips listed below will be the best to help as you make your way along your Destiny path.

1. Using the Tower

It will become your home in the Destiny universe, where you’ll rest, shop and choose the weapons and armour to take into missions. Getting to grips with this area will get you off to a good start when playing Destiny because it is also where you will have to upgrade your weapons and unlock items between tasks too. The merchants of Destiny, including those from various factions, will also reside in the Tower so they are easy to find and spend your Glimmer currency on. But if you’d rather vary your equipment without spending Glimmer, check out your vault in the Tower and you may suddenly remember armour and weapons you had previously forgotten about. Wouldn’t that be nice! The final ‘Using the Tower’ tip is to return there when you need a rest from defeating the Earth’s enemies. The Tower contains opportunities for bounty missions and side questions for you to do too.

2. Weapons level up

In addition to upgrading your weapons, they also progress through levels as you use them. That’s right, not only will you level up through Destiny gameplay, but your tools of the trade will too. Upon first realizing this, Guardians want to use a weapon and get it to a super high level quickly – however this will only end in disaster! Your main weapon does need to be strong, but you also have a secondary weapon to consider as well. In the course of the game it is helpful to have a mid-long range weapon and a short range one for when the enemies get a little too close. Make sure you get plenty of experience with the different weapons in your Destiny loadout so you are not stuck with the weak ones when your best run out of ammo.

3. Orbs of Light

This is a handy little feature from Bungie that every good, team-playing Guardian needs to make the most of! In the Destiny universe Guardians have special powers, which are often powerful attacks that enemies ought to fear. However taking out foes is not the only benefit from using your special powers. When you do activate your special power, an Orb of Light will be generated. When you, or another Guardian, pick up the Orb of Light it will contribute towards powering your/their special ability. So the more you and your friends use your special powers, the quicker you will be able to use your special abilities. Talk about a win-win scenario; just make sure you do it!

4. Playing with friends makes it harder, in a good way

Destiny looks set to be an incredible single-player first-person shooting game that will keep gamers happily occupied for months. But what makes an epic experience even better? Sharing it with friends. Guardians are able to play the four campaign missions featured in Destiny beta with friends as part of a 3-person Fire Squad, A word of warning must be delivered alongside the tips for multiplayer action. Playing Destiny with be great with allies because you can revive and heal one another, but it will also become a lot harder. The game increases the difficulty to match the fact that the missions will be taken on by three players as opposed to just one. But that isn’t to say it’ll be three times as hard, the enemies will just be tougher and appear in greater numbers. That isn’t something you should fear, despite the incredible impact of swarming enemies. If you have a variety of Destiny classes in your Fire Squad the group will posses a wide range of attacks, having something that is particularly good with every type of enemy you encounter. If you are all similar then at least you will know each others class strengths and weaknesses well, which will help when planning approaches to tasks.

5. Hidden Items

Destiny is about the weapons, armour and the upgrades you can do to them, so it only makes sense for there to be an array of hidden items throughout the Destiny universe. There is no fun in everyone using the same guns and looking the same, but by finding those hard-to-locate items you can become a unique individual, just as your Guardian Customisation intends you to be. However it will take a lot of work to unlock all of the treasure chests containing secret items, reason being that they are often guarded by powerful enemies that you will have to defeat before reaping your rewards. The final Destiny beta tip is to look out for Spin Metal whilst on your travels, as this plant can be traded in at the Tower for upgrades. Not only that, but the Spin Metal can also be traded for reputation points to use in the Tower too. The Spin Metal will be easy to recognize by its metallic coral appearance.

Now this wisdom has been passed to you Guardian, share it with your fellow Guardians and be ready to save the Traveller. For now, it is time to rest before the next round of enemies swarms in. Good luck Guardian.
