Where to buy Cloaks, Badges, and Bonds in Destiny

Think back to a time in Destiny when you’ve been scrapping with some Fallen, slowly chipping away at the hoard while desperately trying to survive, that’s before a seemingly super powered hero of another Guardian ran past and took them all out in one fell swoop. What was it that made them so powerful? Bruce Wayne level technology? Powers gained from childhood summers spent on Krypton? No. As we know the source of any hero’s power is their cape, right?
Well in Destiny you’ll find cloaks, badges, and bonds, depending on which class you chose, and as well as making you look like a superhero, there is some evidence that they might have hidden mystical properties.

Which of these items you’ll find available depends on which class you picked for your Guardian:
Hunter: Cloaks
Titan: Badges
Warlock: Bonds

In practice these all serve the same purpose, and any difference should just be cosmetic. But aside from making you look cool, what’s the point in them?
Well disappointingly, the answer seems to be nothing, as they don’t give any stat changes that we know about. As they are very much a prestige item however, it has been speculated that wearing one of these items gives you hidden powers, the details of which have yet to be understood by anyone outside of Bungie themselves.
The one thing that we know they do for sure however, is help you rank up within certain factions if you’ve opted for one of the special Faction specific items. This will mean that you gain Faction rep when you’re off doing things like Crucible matches and Patrol missions.

There are a few places that you’ll be able to pick these up for your Guardian. The place you’re most likely to spot them being at the Guardian Outfitter in The Tower once you have the Glimmer necessary. But you can also find them for sale at each of the faction reps located in various places around The Tower, although you might have to rely on some luck to find one that has them in stock. You might end up having to check back a few times to get the cloak, badge, or bond that you’ll really after.

Aside from spending your hard-earned Glimmer and faction Marks on them, you might also be lucky enough to find one of these in the wild as a random loot drop. Another location we’ve seen a few lucky players nab themselves one is in the Crucible as a reward for completing games, just make sure that you’re a high enough level to be able to use your reward, as certain ones will be restricted to players who have proven themselves by reaching the higher levels of the game. Thankfully this isn’t the same situation as with Armour Shaders though, and players of all levels should be able to find the cloak, badge, or bond to suit them.

So there you have it, you’ll now be able to carry out all of the Superhero fantasies that you’ve ever had inside of the Destiny Universe. It’s a mystery what these items actually do right now, whether it’s just for bragging rights or whether there’s a much more special hidden power that they hold, but either way you’ll be looking good while you take on the Darkness with one of these accessories adorning your armour. Go out there and be the hero that we know you can be!
