    Drivers and Teams

There are 22 drivers in the F1 2015 World Championship, and 11 different teams (with 2 drivers per team). You are going to be playing as one of these drivers, and will be in one of the teams. However, each different driver has his own racing style, and each team has its own qualities. Therefore, some teams are better than others, and you should get to know which drivers and teams are going to be your direct competition, and which drivers and teams are going to do certain things in a race.

Mercedes is undoubtedly the most effective team in F1 2015. In most races you will likely see Hamilton and Rosberg on the podium at the end, due to them having the superior cars on the track. There are three other teams that will be competitive in the positions below Mercedes. Ferrari, Williams and Red Bull are likely the teams that will occupy space from P8 upwards, with Vettel probably being the most competitive driver from these teams. The other teams in the Championship (when controlled by the AI) will likely be unable to compete with the top four teams very effectively, so consider that if you are in one of the lesser competitive teams, your partner will likely be unsuccessful at gaining good places consistently. It may be up to you to carry your team throughout the Championship.

    The Point System

The Championship works by drivers being awarded points as they get certain places in races. These points are totalled as the season continues, to see which drivers, and which teams, are doing the best. Gaining a 1st place in F1 is very important, as it awards 25 points, 7 more than the driver in 2nd place. Another important place in the final grid is P10, especially for lower teams. Any positioning below P10 will garner the team no points at all, so gaining P10 or higher can be very important for lower teams, who will end with far fewer points than teams like Mercedes.

Here is the amount of points gained for each finishing position:

    1st – 25 points

    2nd – 18 points

    3rd – 15 points

    4th – 12 points

    5th – 10 points

    6th – 8 points

    7th – 6 points

    8th – 4 points

    9th – 2 points

    10th – 1 point

With a more general understanding of how your Championship will take place, you can hopefully now plan out your targets and strategies more effectively – don’t always aim for 1st place unless you think you are capable of it!
