New Dragon Age Inquisition DLC

When you think about fantasy role playing games, the Dragon Age series is one of the first ones that comes to mind. With its endless customisation and hours of game play exploration, there was a reason that the latest instalment Dragon Age Inquisition was nominated for game of the year by so many people. And on August 11th the already expansive game is getting an upgrade in the form of The Decent DLC, the trailer for which came out a few days ago, so in this article we’re going to be talking about what we might expect from this DLC as well as offering a little speculation, so needless to say there will be spoilers!

To start with as previously announced by Bioware, unfortunately the DLC will not be coming out for Playstation 3 or Xbox 360, with Bioware focusing on the next generation consoles and the PC for all future downloadable content, leaving last generation console users scrambling for a console to use, or resigning themselves to the fact that they’ll have to watch all this new content through lets players rather than experiencing the action themselves. The price of the DLC has not been announced yet, but EA access members will get it for 10%. There also won’t be an exclusive release date for any console, unlike with Jaws of Hakkon.

Now what to expect from the DLC. Bioware advertises it as an exploration into the Deep Roads ‘where vast, darkspawn-infested caverns will challenge the Inquisition like never before.’ offering hope that for a large area of exploration guaranteed to be value for your money. The line about challenging the Inquisition also suggest that this DLC may be the build up to the next story based DLC which was leaked through a survey a few months ago, talking about your team embarking on a ‘last adventure’.

The expansion also promises some much wanted time to explore the Deep Roads, however it unknown what the Inquisitor and their companions will find down there. However there will be new characters, which at the moment appear to be dwarves, which is to be expected due to the fact the game is set in the Deep Roads, where the dwarves have been battling the dark spawn for years. However another set of characters who battle the dark spawn are the Grey Wardens, who could easily be down in the Deep Roads despite the choices you made in the game, which could prompt an appearance from some old Grey Warden friends such as Bethany and Carver, however this isn’t clear yet.

Though character wise, there is one character missing from the main line up; Solas. After the end of the main storyline, Solas disappeared without a trace, with Leliana’s spy forces setting out to find him. However after a brief glimpse of a bald mage in the trailer, many are hoping that this could be the return of the elf. After all the game advertises a great secret being revealed, and who has a bigger secret then Solas? It’s unknown if the mystery man from the trailer was indeed Solas or simply just a new character, however if it is him then it could be a good set up for the next DLC and also offers some resolution for the Solas romance or just a build up until the hinted at future DLC.

However, details are being kept locked down at the moment, so only time will tell!
