Still mastering your technique in Super Smash Bros.? Need help mastering your technique with Little Mac? Well, you’ve come to the right place. There are a couple of useful videos that help explain some of the combos, tactics and techniques that players of all play-levels can utilize to help score them a victory over opponents.
The first video comes courtesy of YouTuber ShinySaber. It’s an older video but a useful video for newbies. You can get the basic gist of Little Mac’s abilities, such as jolt dashing as a dodging technique or using it as a counter-attack. You can also use the jolt dash to close a gap and deal some serious damage. You can check out the video below.
If you skimmed through the tutorial but still need some help laying the smack down, you can utilize techniques like forward tilt for racking up chip damage. Mac’s core focus is getting in quick hits and then getting out of the way.
Neutral ‘B’ has a long cool-down, so if charge it and strike, you’re left open to be punished.
And the knockout punch is good if you can bait opponents in close and then squeeze off the killer uppercut.
More advanced techniques and combos are showcased in a video from YouTuber Dezmu. He rolls out a few nifty strategies for controlling the platform as well as guarding and breaking through guards. Check it out below.
A few quick notes. The quick pivots can be executed by dashing the control stick one way and then reversing in the opposite direction to setup for quick down-tilts and forward-tilt combos. Why is this useful? You can foxtrot toward an opponent, use a quick pivot and then quickly link that into a down-tilt and then an up-smash. Quick pivot can also put you in a position to thwart an opponent who shield spams.
Dezmu’s video also teaches you how to ledge-guard and keep opponents from properly recovering and making it back onto the ledge. This is very important when you’re playing against someone who knows how to control the platform and you want to keep them off their game.
Super Smash Bros. is currently available for bot the Nintendo DS and the Wii U. I can’t wait to see what this newest Smash Bros. will be like if it makes an appearance at this year’s Evo.
