Pokemon Soul Silver Guide

Pokemon Soul Silver Guide

Unofficial Pokemon Soul Silver Guide by swaggers for

This is a straight walkthrough for Pokemon Soul Silver. It will guide you on the path through Soul Silver and give you tips and tricks for all the battles. If you are a "gotta have them all" kind of person be sure to check out the Pokedex here on SuperCheats. All three starters play very differently and require different Pokemon to help them out.

Check the Pokedex if you are having a hard time to find not only your opponent's weakness but also what Pokemon to use to beat it and where to find it. I.E. If you are fighting Dragonite you can see that he is 4x Weak to Ice and then find out that Articuno is an Ice based Legendary you can get in Soul Silver.

Alternatively our Pokemon Forums are packed with people that love to play Pokemon and may be able to offer you a helping hand.

Zephyr Badge

New Bark Town

After picking your gender and your name you will start the game in your upstairs bedroom. Head downstairs and your mom will give you the Bag, along with the ability to save. In the options I turn the text speed all the way up.

Head outside to meet your friend. Ethan if you are a girl, Lyra if you are a boy. Then head to the next house on the left and enter the first floor door.

Professor Elm will greet you and give you a task. Then you get to pick your Pokemon.

Totodile - Water
Chikorita - Grass
Cyndaquil - Fire

I choose Cyndaquil so all my battles will be based on that choice. The main thing to remember is your rival will have Pokemon that are strong against your choice. So you need to find Pokemon to shore up your Pokemon's weakness. Since my rival will have Water I get myself a Mareep with Lightning during the game. Since you can only get certain Pokemon at certain times and places in the game be sure to check the Pokedex to plan who to get and when you can get them.

Now that you've made the choice of your Pokemon head back to your house and talk to your mom again to get more supplies from mom. Professor Elm's assistant will stop you on the way out to give you some Potions. Mom will give you the Pokegear so you can make phone calls and check the map.

Now head out of town to the West slash left side of town.

Route 29

As you start to do battle I will let you know that my plan of action for this entire walkthrough is to stay 2 to 3 levels ahead of the competition. By keeping to just 2 or 3 Pokemon and fighting all the battles you'll quickly get to a One Hit Knock Out state that will make random Pokemon battles very quick and you'll still get to level up.

So stick around in the grass of Route 29 heading back to New Bark Town and the healing power of Professor Elm's computer as needed. I leveled up here until I was level 8.

When you are ready to move on head left and then up the small path and right. Then up and to the far right to get a Potion. Now head hard left past the gatehouse and past the apricorn tree to get to Cherrygrove City

Cherrygrove City

An old man will greet you as you enter the city. Follow him to get the runnign shoes. This speeds up your travel. Then stop at the Pokemon Center to heal your Pokemon and also use the PC to store and change Pokemon. To the left of that is the Pokemon Mart. Not much to do in town at this time so head out the North to Route 30. The old man will stop you on the way out of town and give you the map card for your PokeGear.

Route 30

Head hard right as you enter Route 30 to get a Potion.

Head into the first house you see and you'll be given the Apricorn Box. Now when you see Apricorn trees you can harvest them. There is a Green Apricorn right outside the house to harvest. Continue up the right side stopping to get the  Antidote tucked away on the left in the trees. Then continue north to Mr. Pokemon's House. You'll get the Mystery Egg to carry with you. Eggs hatch after you've walked a certain distance. You'll also get a PokeDex from Professor Oak to keep track of the Pokemon you've caught and seen. Then leave the house, take his Pink Apricorn, and head all the way back to New Bark Town. Stop at the Cherrygrove City PokeCenter if you need to heal.

Zephyr Badge - Getting to Mr Pokemon

Cherrygrove City

As you leave Cherrygrove City you'll have your first battle with the so-far unnamed Rival. This first battle is just one on one and his Pokemon level will be 5 so it's not much of a battle at this time. But in the future fighting your Rival will be the hardest battles of the early game. Once you've defeated him you can head back to New Bark Town and Professor Elm's House. You can now harvest the Green Apricorn that we passed in Route 29. Once back at Professor Elms you get to name your Rival. Choose whatever you want. I'll just be using Rival here in the walkthrough.

Head back to talk to your mom yet again. You get to choice whether to have your mom save money for you. If you do there will be delivery people at the Pokemarts and Department stores that give you stuff that your mom has randomly bought for you. It's up to you.

Once done head back to Route 29 and Lyra (since I am playing a boy) will show you how to capture Pokemon. I'm not a catch them all kind of player. If you are, check out this site's Pokedex for locations and info on how to find every Pokemon in the game.

Once that is done head back through to Cherrygrove City and heal at the Center. Then back up Route 30. After the Apricorn tree take a left. If you go right it would take you to Mr. Pokemon's House.

Route 30

First Trainers. There is really nothing different to any of these guys then just fighting a Pokemon in the wild except you can't catch Pokemon from trainers. Simply work your way up taking out the trainers as you go. These trainers will be around level 4, while my Cyndaquil is at 10 so these are all OHKO. After battle a lot of trainers will ask for your number. I say yes, but really all it does it make them call you with lame stories. If they aren't major characters I would just say NO.

At the Trainer Tip there is a hidden Potion in the small plants to the right. Then continue up fighting as you go.

Route 31

Not really anything important in the Dark Cave so grab the Potion that is out in the open and continue West. Grab the Black Apricorn and then head down and fight the trainer and grab the Poke Ball before continuing West.

Head through the Gate House for a conversation with Lytra. She gives you the Vs. Recorder.

Violet City

Heal at the the Pokecenter and then enter the house in the bottom left. This kid will trade you a Oynx for your Bellsprout. if you've caught one it's a good trade because you are going to need to train a Pokemon in Rock Smash here pretty quick. You can get Bellsprout in the surrounding grass just South of Violet City.

Go North and then West. Go through the Gate House to Route 36.A man there will give you HM06 - Rock Smash. You can't use it yet. But you will be able to soon enough. Head back through the Gate House to Violet City.

Head into the Gym which is the dome shaped building next to the PokeMart. It's not currently open for business beacuse the leader is in Sprout Tower. So we need to head there to the North across the bridge.

Zephyr Badge - Violet City

Sprout Tower

Take the one ladder to the left up. You'll have a Trainer battle. Level 4ish vs my 12. No contest. Then down the next ladder. Head straight South after coming off the ladder to get a Parlyz Heal. Then West to another trainer and another ladder up. Grab the X Accuracy and then, yep, trainer. Up the ladder then Potion and 3 Trainers in a ROW! All easy though. The last of the three had a couple level 7s. I got to level 14 during these and evolved into Quilava.

When you get to the Elder you'll see your Rival has gotten there first.

Before challenging the Elder head to the right and get the Escape Rope. Then save.

BATTLE: ELDER LI
Elder Li has a lvl 7 Bellsprout, lvl 10 Hoothoot, and a lvl 7 Bellsprout. I had my lvl 14 Quilava on it's own and destroyed this match. You'll be rewarded with TM70 - Flash for winning. Then use the Escape Rope to get out of there the quick and easy way.

Violet City

Head back to the PokeCenter to heal your Pokemon and then it's time to get your first badge. Head back up and to the left to enter the gym. Walk forward and get propelled up to the top level. Time for some Trainer battles. You can bypass them by using the clear path to either side but it's better exp wise to just head on in and do battle. Lvl 9 Spearow, OHKO. Then next trainer has a lvl 7 Pidgey, OHKO, followed by a another lvl 7 Pidgey, OHKO. Too easy.

BATTLE: FALKNER
My Quilava is now lvl 16 going into this battle. First up is lvl 9 Pidgey, OHKO. Then lvl 13 Pidgeotto. It did take 3 Embers to take down Pidgeotto. But again, no real problems. You'll get the Zephyr Badge and also the ability to use the Rock Smash we got earlier outside of battle! He'll also give you TM51 - Roost.

Head back the way you came and exit the gym. Professor Elm will call and tell you to meet someone at the PokeMart to get the egg. You're going to be in charge of holding on to it to help it hatch. So head to the Mark just to the left of the gym and talk to the right in the lab coat. Also talk to the guy on the left in the red hat. This is the guy who will deliver you items from your Mom around the world. While you are here buy an Escape Rope. We will need it shortly.

Zephyr Badge - Getting The Badge

Hive Badge

We are going to need to use Rock Smash to carry on so we are going to head to the south of town and wander the first section of Route 32 grass until you get a Bellsprout. Then take the Bellsprout to the kid we met earlier in town and trade him for an Oynx. The house is at the bottom of the right side of town. Then go into the Pokemon menu and select Oynx and teach him HM06 - Rock Smash.

Now exit town via the top left gate house, where we went to get Rock Smash from the old man.

Route 36

Head south through the gate house in Route 36.

Ruins of Alph

This is where the Unown are. Head south and enter the building on the right with the two patches of grass on the roof. Come out through a hidden door on the right and then enter the building to the north and exit that building from the left side and enter the final domed roof building.

Inside the building head to the back of the room and check the wall plaque. It will give you a simple message of ESCAPE. So use the Escape Rope right on this spot. That will open the secret back door. Inside is a Pecha Berry, Oran Berry, Heal Power, and a EnergyPowder. Now exit back to the room and examine the center post.

Move the piece in the upper left to the open spot one down from the top in the middle. Then rotate it 3 times.
Move the piece on the left to the top and rotate it once.
Move the piece on the bottom to the left and rotate it 3 times.
Move the final piece to the final spot and rotate it twice.

You'll fall down into the ruins and a man will come up to you and give you the Unown Report. You can now capture Unown in the ruins area. Exit the ruins to the south via the ladder.

Use Rock Smash on all the rocks in the Ruins to find items and wild pokemon and then head back to the north through the gate house to Route 36 and then through the right side gate house to Violet City. Buy anything you need at the Mart and heal at the Center. Then head out of town via the south exit on the left to get to Route 32.

Route 32

You'll be stopped by a man who will give you a Miracle Seed. It helps grass type moves. If you have a grass type pokemon equip it to them to give them more power. Continue south past the low level trainer and get a Repel on the left side. Continue under the rail tracks grabbing the Great Ball from the right, then before going down the stairs, get TM09 - Bullet Seed from the left.  Then get attacked by a trainer with his lvl 10 Wooper.

Head into the PokeMart when you get to it on your southerly path. Heal your Pokemon and then talk to the guy on the left facing south. He'll give you the Old Rod. You can now catch Pokemon in the water. If you want to try it out head back northeast to the docks. You can fight the trainers there and use the Old Rod on the water.

When you are ready to move on head south from the Mart, use Rock Smash on the bottom right rock and grab the Shell Bell, then enter the Cave.

Union Cave

Head left in Union Cave and then go down. Trainer battle with a lvl 11 Oynx. Continue right and down for another Trainer battle. Down the right side and yet another low level trainer. Grab the Great Ball in the lower right corner. Then south south south through more trainers until you get to the exit grabbing the Awakening as you go.

Route 33

Couple of Apricorn in the lower right corner. This is the area I use to level up my Mareep. Route 33 is under constant rain which makes Lightning Pokemon 100% accurate. Then continue left to Azalea Town

Azalea Town

Watch the scene at the well and then talk to the kid in front. He won't let you in so head left to the actual town. Stop at the Mark and Center to heal and get any supplies you need then enter the top left house grabbing his Apricorn as you go in. Talk to the old man and you'll have a short conversation before he runs off to the well. Now head back to the well and now you can get inside.

Hive Badge - Azalea Town

Slowpoke Well

Talk to Kurt and he's too injured to help you so enter the cave on your own. Head straight up the ladder and take on the first Team Rocket Trainer. Very easy low level battle against lvl 9s. Grab the Super Potion and then work your way around the area trainer by trainer until you get to the boss.

BATTLE: Executive Proton
Lvl 8 Zubat, & lvl 12 Koffing vs my lvl 21 Quilava
Not a battle at all with everything going down in OHKO style.
After the battle Kurt will come and talk to you some more. Afterward you will warp directly back to Kurt's house and he'll give you a Fast Ball. He'll let you know he will now turn Apricorns into Pokeballs. Go to the Center and heal and then head to the gym in the middle of the town.

1) Take the Left platform, battle the Trainer and then take the middle platform which is the only option.
2) Battle the twins and then flip the switch and ride the platform back.
3) Flip this switch and then prepare for a Leader battle.

BATTLE: Bugsy
lvl 17 Scyther, lvl 15 Metapod, & lvl 15 Kakuna vs. lvl 22 Quilava
No worries if you've leveled up as you went. You get the Hive Badge and the ability to use Cut outside of combat. This allows you to cut down all the small trees you've past up to now. You'll also get TM89 - U-Tturn.

Hive Badge - Badge Battle

Plain Badge

Flip the switch and take the platform back. Then take the middle platform back to the start of the gym. Professor Elm will give you a call but you can ignore this request for now. Then the typical MarT and Center. Heal and buy stuff.

Now its leveling time. You are about to have your first real test with your Rival and you want several Pokemon who are at least lvl 16ish. As I've said before since I am Fire with Quilava I want to get a Pokemon that is a good Pokemon to shore up your weaknesses. I choose Flaaffy to evolve into Mareep. So now is the time to level up in Route 33. I stopped at Quilava 23, and Flaaffy 16. Then head towards the left side gate house in Azalea Town after stopped to heal of course.

BATTLE: Rival
lvl 14 Gastly, lvl 18 Croconaw, lvl 16 Zubat vs. lvl 23 Quilava & lvl 16 Flaaffy
First is a lvl 14 Gastly. This is a OHKO for my Quilava. When he brings out his Croconaw (or other weakess Pokemon) then switch to your opposite Pokemon (Flaaffy for me). Then Flaaffy will easily take care of him. Then you can switch back to your main to mop up.

Once the battle is done head through the gate house and into the Ilex Forest.

Ilex Forest

You'll talk to the first guy and he needs you to catch all the Farfetch'd that he lost. You need to sneak up behind them to catch them.

1) Head to the right and you'll automatically step on a branch alerting the nearby Farfetch'd. Now sneak up and around the middle trees making sure not to step on the braches and you'll end up right behind him for the capture.
2) Now head to the far right side grabbing the Revive as you go by. Go up the left side and try to catch it. The Farfetch'd will run away, which we need since there is no angle where he was. Now hit the twigs on his far right to make him face right and then work your way back around to catch him from behind.

Then you are back talking to the guy who lost them. The owner will then walk up and thank you by giving you HM01 - Cut. I had to teach it to Quilava replacing his Quick Attack.

Plain Badge - Ilex Forest

Then head back through the gate house to town and go to the bottom right house. Talk to the guy on the right and he will give you Charcoal. It makes fire-type attacks more powerful. Since I have Quilava I give it to him. Now head back to the forest and use cut on the first small tree to the north. Head up and to the right. You can't get to the guy on the right just yet so continue up. You'll come to the Kimono Girl again. After talking to her grab the Ether on the right and then go right just below the tree line. That will allow you to get all the way around. Then man there can teach any of your Pokemon Headbutt. Then continue on past where the Kimono Girl was to the gate house. Talk to the girl on the right behind the counter and she will give you TM12 - Taunt.

Route 34

As you head north to Goldenrod City you'll face quite a few trainers that are much worse then the Rival battle you just had. So just work your way through them as you continue north. As you round the bend you'll meet Lyra's grandparents. They own the Day-Care. As Lyra leaves she will give you her number. You can give them two Pokemon and they level up, 1 exp per step you take in game. it's a great way to get some exp on Pokemon without having to switch them out all the time. Leave 1 or 2 Pokemon and then continue on north.

Grab TM86 - Embargo from the tall grass to the right as you head towards Goldenrod City.

Plain Badge - Getting To The City

Goldenrod City

Lots to do here. First head into the Center on the left to heal up, then go into the Game Corner. It's the building one north of the Center with the giant Diamond on it. You need to talk to Mr. Game first behind the game to get the Coin Case. The game is like Minesweeper. It's doesn't cost money to play and you can win some really neat things. I played until I had 2,100 coins to get a Dratini. This is very early to get a good Dragon type Pokemon so you should think about do that also.

Next head left and down and to the right to get to the Underground. Lyra will give you the Fashion Case. You can do down and dress up your Pokemon and take pictures if you really want to.

Now head up and to the right. Take a right at the street intersection and work all the way down to the show. The owner here will give you a bicycle.

Go north under the rails and to the right to the Gym. They won't let you in because everyone is at the Radio Tower. So head there next. It's the far left building under the train tracks.

Talk to the far right girl that is behind the counter.
1) Yes
2) Yes
3) No
4) Yes
5) No
You'll get the Radio Card and also Whitney will go back to her gym. So let's follow her there and get that badge.

Take the stairs to the high area and then down the bottom stairs. Through the archway and fight a trainer. Then up and around to the next archway and into the center section. Now it's two trainers in a row before the actual leader battle.

BATTLE: Whitney
lvl 17 Clefairy & lvl 19 Miltank vs. lvl 25 Quilava, lvl 18 Flaaffy, & lvl 15 Dratini

Miltank is the only real problem. Miltank will constantly heal and use Attract. I mean constantly, every other move will be Milk Drink or Super Poition. If you can get a Paralyze or Sleep or other Status on Miltank it will make your life a LOT easier. If your Pokemon is of the opposite gender they won't attack Miltank. I would of liked my other 2 Pokemon to be higher level knowing that now but we got through it ok simply switching Pokemon out and using a few potions.

Afterward Whitney won't give you anything. Simply walk south and one of her students will tell you to go back and check again. On the second talk you'll get the Plain Badge and TM45 - Attract.

Leave the way you came in and go next door to the Flowershop. The lady there will give you the Squirt Bottle. You'll need it soon. Now heal at the Center and then go across the street to the Department Store. The delivery man is there with several items from your Mom if you had her hold some of your money. Just keep talking to him until he says you've got everything.

Plain Badge - Badge Battle

Fog Badge

Route 35

Head North to Route 35. You can continue North to the National Park but the game continues to the East. Cut down the tree and to reach Route 36.

Route 36

You will come to a tree blocking your way. You need to use the Squirt Bottle on it and it will transform into a lvl 20 Sudowoodo. This is your one and ONLY chance to get him so if you are a collector work it down and then Poke Ball for the win. After beating it a girl will come and give you a Berry Pot to grow up to 4 Berries at a time. After that is West and North to Route 37.

Route 37

This is just a short Route filled with Trainers on your way to Ecruteak City. You can get some good Fire Pokemon then on to town.

Ecruteak City

Head into the house that is to the left of the Center. The guy in there will give you the Dowsing MCNH. It assists you in finding hidden items. Then into the Theater above the center, fight the guy on stage and afterwards the man in the audience will give you Surf. You can't use it yet, but you'll need it soon enough. You can't hit the gym yet so head to the Burnt Tower.

Burnt Tower

Eusine will greet you as you enter the Tower and talk about his quest for Legendary Pokemon.

BATTLE: Rival
lvl 20 Gastly,  lvl 22 Croconaw, lvl 20 Zubat, and lvl 18 Magnemite vs. lvl 28 Quilava and lvl 20 Flaaffy

As you head to the ladder your Rival will challenge you yet again. This is not as hard a battle as some of the previous. Just make sure to switch out your main with something that is powerful against his main.

When you head downstairs the 3 legendary Pokemon with run away and Eusine will come down and talk about how awesome they are some more.

Fog Badge - Burnt Tower

Burnt Tower

You have to fight all the trainers. As soon as you beat them their light goes out making it hard to navigate. If you fall off though there is no penalty and their lights go back on. So no real problems getting to Morty.

BATTLE: Morty
lvl 21 Gastly, lvl 25 Gengar, lvl 21 Haunter, and lvl 23 Haunter vs. lvl 31 Quilava, lvl 19 Dratini, lvl 21 Flaaffy and lvl 21 Sudowoodo

Be prepared to be put to sleep A LOT. All of Morty's Pokemon like to throw Hypnosis your way so be prepared. Afterwards you'll get the Fog Badge and you can now use Surf to go across water.

Fog Badge - Badge Battle

Storm Badge

Route 38/9

Next head West to Route 38. There are a lot of Trainers to take on here. Farfetch'd is on this route. He's rather weak for a pokemon but the bonus is he can learn Fly which you'll be getting soon. After you've taken on all the Trainers head further West to Route 39. If you head to the the top of the Route you will find MooMoo Ranch. Inside is a sick MooMoo who needs Oran Berries to heal. It took my 6 Berries to heal him. The only way to reliably get Oran Berries is to play the Lottery on the top floor of the department store in Goldenrod City. Save before you play, then quit restart if you don't get an Oran Berry. Once you have the required number head back to MooMoo Ranch and heal the MooMoo. The girl next to the MooMoo will give you the Seal Case and you can also buy MooMoo Milk for 500. Then head South to Olivine City.

Olivine City

Once you get to town head to the house above the  Center. In here you will find a fisherman who will give you the Good Rod. Then in the house to the right of the path from the Pokemart is a girl who will give you some seals if you just did the MooMoo Quest and have the Seal Case. Then head all the way East to the Lighthouse

Storm Badge - Olivine City

Olivine Lighthouse

You need to work your way up to the top floor by floor going through a LARGE number of Trainers. On the top floor you'll meet the Gym Leader for Olivine, Jasmine. Ampharos is sick and and needs the SecretPotion from Cianwood. So we need to head there next.

Route 40/1

Time to Surf. Surf your way South through the wild Pokemon and Trainers until you get to Route 41. Since you don't have Whirlpool yet you can ignore the Whirlpools you'll find here and just continue on fighting Trainers and Wild Pokemon moving your way West until you get to Ciamwood City.

Cianwood City

First grab the SecretPotion from the small store that is right next to the Center. Then head up to the top of the city to see Suicune. He'll run off as you get close but Eusine will show up again and this time he wants to fight.

BATTLE: Eusine
lvl 25 Drowzee, lvl 27 Electrode, and lvl 25 Haunter vs. lvl 25 Flaaffy, lvl 23 Dratini, and lvl 34 Quilava

Pretty standard battle. Watch out for Sleep from Drowzee and also from Haunter. Then head to the Gym for a Badge.

Storm Badge - Eusine

Cianwood Gym

First you need to head up the left side fighting both of those Trainers to pull them to the side. Then head up the right side and Pull the first Trainer over. Now this will open the path to the upper left switch. You can fight the last Trainer on the right if you want. Then head to the bottom to fight for the Storm Badge.

BATTLE: Chuck
lvl 25 Primape and lvl 31 Poliwrath vs. lvl 35 Quilava, lvl 26 Flaaffy, and lvl 25 Dratini

Not very hard battle considering what you've been up against recently. Just be ready with Status Healers and keep on the damage. Once you win you get the Storm Badge and more importantly the ability to Fly. When you are ready fly back to Olivevine to give the Potion to Ampharos.

Storm Badge - Badge Battle

Mineral Badge

Olivine City / Gym

Go to the top of the Lighthouse (you can take the elevator this time) again and give the SecretPotion to Ampharos. Jasmine will leave and head back to the Gym. In a strange twist all the Trainers in the Gym as so glad you helped Ampharos that you don't need to fight anyone but Jasmine straight away.

BATTLE: Jasmine
lvl 30 Magnemite, lvl 35 Steelix, and lvl 30 Magnemite vs.  lvl 36 Typhlosion

Pretty simple for where you are level wise. Make sure you can do some good damage to a lvl 35. Once you beat her, she will give you the Mineral Badge.

Mineral Badge - Badge Battle

Glacier Badge

Route 42

Fly back to Ecruteak City and head out of the city to the East to Route 42. Swim out to the East stopping at the first island. There are Apricorns and also Suicune. Suicine will run off yet again and so Eustine will show up YET AGAIN. No battle this time, just more talking. Then keep working your way East to Mahogany Town

Mahogany Town

Not much to do in Town at this time since the Gym is closed. Head to the East to buy a RageCandyBar for 300. It's a Key Item you are going to need later. Then head out the North to Route 43.

Route 43

You can either pay the toll at the Gatehouse of a 1000 or head through the Grass. It's your call but the grass means Pokemon which means EXP. This is a rather long area that contains a lot of Trainers. Continue North to the Lake or Rage.

Lake of Rage

Surf out into the Lake of Rage to find the Red Gyarados. This is a Unique Shiny Red lvl 30 Gyarados so if you want to catch it make sure you save right before hand and have a GreatBall ready. I'm not the collector type so I just took him down. After the battle you'll get the Red Scale. Then head to shore and talk to Lance. The Red Scale can be traded for the EXP Share with Mr. Pokemon above Cherrygrove and I suggest you go there now to do that. It gives one of Pokemon half the EXP for not being in the battle. A great way to level up lower level Pokemon. Then fly back to Mahogany Town.

Mineral Badge - Lake of Rage

Mahogany Town / Rocket Hidden HQ

Head to the small store and Lance will already be there. He finds the secret stairs and you follow him down. As you head left past the first statue it sounds the alarm and brings two Rocket Grunts at you one after the other. Don't worry though you can turn these off. (Alternately leave them on for extra battles and extra EXP.) Head left and down and then follow the path to a Scientist. Beat his 3 lvl 20 Magnemites and then use the computer to turn the security system off. Then head back to the main path. A Grunt will be up ahead for you to battle. Then continue on and head down the stairs to the next level.

On the second floor Lance will heal you up. Then continue to the right get to third floor.

Lance is just always one step ahead of you. He's already gotten the first part of the door code. Head to the giant room on the center and fight the female there to get thepart of the door code and then a grunt to the bottom left. Now go to the upper right to get to back to the second floor.

As you go around to the door your Rival will show up to talk. Just talk. Then use your new found codes on the door and go in and fight Petrel.

BATTLE: Petrel
lvl 22 Zubat, lvl 22 Koffing and lvl 24 Raticate vs. lvl 38 Typhlosion

My 38 Typhlosion destroyed his entire team OHKO style. As always if you are having any problems with battles look up the Pokemon on the Supercheats.com Pokedex. After that follow the Murkrow back to the first floor door and it will unlock it for you.

BATTLE: Arianna & Grunt vs You & Lance

The Murkrow will get you in so you can fight Arianna and a Grunt. Lance will show up to make it 2 v 2. Lance has some very high level Pokemon so no matter what you have if you can just survive he'll take them all out but my lvl 30s stood their own.

After that battle you need to head up the left side and take out 3 lvl 23 Electrodes one by one. Then the system will shut down. Then head to the Center to heal and go to the Gym to get your next badge.

Mineral Badge - Rocket HQ

Mahogany Gym

Entrance - As you enter push the ice block straight up and then head left, up, right and then up and out.

Room 1 - Head left and fight the Trainer. Then go up to the left side and slide right into the ice block. Then slide right again into the ice and go up and out of the room.

Room 2 - Head left and fight the Trainer again. And then again head up the left side and slide right to move the ice. This time go up immediately and fight the next Trainer. Then right, down, left, up, right, up, right, up and fight the last Trainer. Then left, up and you are at Pryce.

BATTLE: Pryce
lvl 30 Seel, lvl 34 Piloswine, and lvl 32 Dewgong vs. lvl 30 Ampharos and lvl 39 Thyplosion

Thunder is the way to go for the 2 Water Pokemon. Then use Fire on Piloswine. After that you'll get your Glacier Badge and be able use Whirlpool outside of combat.

Mineral Badge - Badge Battle

Rising Badge

Goldenrod Radio Tower

As you leave the Gym you'll get a call that the Radio tower in Goldenrod has been taken over. Fly over there, but the Rocket Grunts won't let you in. Head to the underground and at the top right is a Grunt who will give you a uniform. Take this back to the Radio Tower and you can get in now. But as you head up the first flight of stairs your Rival will reveal who you really are. Beat the first Grunt and head up the stairs.

Keep heading up the stairs one floor at a time. There are a lot of Rocket Grunts to fight or just keep going. When you get to the fifth floor you will find Petrel who is impersonating the Radio Tower Manager this time. You need to beat him to find the real Manager.

BATTLE: Petrel
lvl 30 Koffing, lvl 32 Weezing, lvl 30 Koffing, lvl 30 Koffing, & lvl 30 Koffing  vs. lvl 40 Typhlosion & lvl 33 Dragonair

All his Pokemon are Poison so Psychic moves are your best bet. Once you beat him he'll give you the Basement Key.

Rising Badge - Goldenrod Radio

Underground Basement

Right as you enter the one of the Kimono Sisters will talk to you. Then head right and open the sealed door with the key. Then you'll be thrust right into a Rival battle.

BATTLE: Rival
lvl 30 Golbat, lvl 32 Feraligator, lvl 30 Haunter, lvl 28 Magnemite, & lvl 32 Sneasel vs. lvl 40 Typhlosion & lvl 32 Ampharos

After continue on fighting trainers until you get to the center switch room. The correct sequence is Red, Green, and then Blue. Continue to the right through the next set of sealed doors. Then keep going until you find the REAL Radio Manager. He'll give you a Key Card to get into the sealed doors on the 3rd Floor of the Radio Tower.

Sooo...

Back to the Radio Tower you go. Open the 3rd Floor doors and and you'll have a battle with Proton. No problem there after clearing out your Rival just a bit ago. Continue your way up and and you'll fight Arianna.

BATTLE: Arianna
lvl 32 Arbok, lvl 32 Murkrow, & lvl 32 Vileplume vs. lvl 42 Typlosion

After that head up the elevator and fight the current Team Rocket leader Archer.

BATTLE: Archer
lvl 35 Houndour, lvl 38 Houndoom, & lvl 35 Koffing vs. lvl 42 Typlosion & lvl 36 Dragonair

Once you beat him the Manager will come in and give you the Silver Wing (since we are playing Soul Silver). There is a woman near the sealed door on 3rd floor and she'll give you TM11 Sunny Day. On the 4th floor you can talk to DJ Mary and she'll give you some BrightPowder and finally the girl in the radio booth on the 2nd floor will give you the Blue Card for the radio show game. Now it's back to Mahogany Town and head East to Route 44.

Rising Badge - Radio Part Two

Route 44 / Ice Route

Lots of Trainers. Keep heading East until you see the stairs to take you to the Ice Path.

Floor 1 - There are two ice puzzles. #1 is up, left, up, left, down, left, up, right. #2, which is for HM07 Waterfall which you will need, is right, down, left, up, left, down, left, up, right. Then up the stairs and to the right for a ladder.

Floor 2 - This is a boulder puzzle. It's very easy and you just need to press the boulders into the holes that are next to them. After all four boulders are down below go down the ladder. Line yourself up with the boulder and go left, down, left, up, right. Then go down the ladder. You then need to push one of the Kimono Sisters and you'll get out of the Ice Route and be at Blackthorn City.

Rising Badge - Ice Route

Blackthorn Gym

This gym has a series of platforms that you need to maneuver to to get to the Trainers and Clair.

#1 Left, Rotate, Rotate, Right
#2 Up, Rotate, Right, Rotate, Rotate, Right
#3 Left, Rotate, Rotate, Right, Rotate, Up, Up, Up, Rotate, Right, Rotate, Up, Up

BATTLE: Clair
lvl 38 Gyarados, lvl 38 Dragonair, lvl 41 Kingdra, & lvl 38 Dragonair vs. lvl 36 Ampharos, lvl 45 Typhlosion, & lvl 44 Dragonair

This was probably the first battle that really gave me trouble with my team of Pokemon. Dragon type Pokemon are weak to Ice and other Dragon attacks but not matter what I did my Dragonair was always inferior to my opponents so most of the game was Hyper Potion and wait for Clair's Dragonair to miss. If you find a good Ice type Pokemon you'll want to have it for the end game as the final battles of this half of the game have a LOT of Dragonairs and Dragonites. Dragonairs/Ites also LOVE Thunder Wave so have 10 or so Parlyz Heals on hand to keep your Pokemon from being Paralyzed. The only bonus is that the attack does no damage so as long as you heal right away it doesn't really effect the fight.

Dragons Den

After you beat here she will refuse to give you the badge until you prove yourself at the Dragons Den. You need to Surf off the back of the gym and head into the Den. You will need Whirlpool also. At the end talk to the Dragon Master and answer:

Ally
Strategy
Anyone
Love
Both

Then Clair will come in and tell you that you obviously failed and the Dragon Master will say you passed and you'll finally get your Rising Badge.

Pokemon League

Kimono House

Fly back home to New Bark Town and talk to Professor Elm. He'll give you 1 Master Ball. It's 100% capable of capturing any wild Pokemon. Even Legendaries. Now fly to Ecruteak and head into the Kimono House above the Center. Once inside you will automatically fight all 5 sisters one at a time. They each have 1 lvl 38 Eevee evolution. Once you beat them you'll get the Tide Bell (again in SS) and it's time to go get your first Legendary.

Pokemon League - Kimono

Lugia

REQUIREMENTS: Silver Wing from Radio Manager in Goldenrod City (Story) & Tide Bell from Kimono Sisters in Eructeak City (Story).
ABILITIES NEEDED: Surf & Whirlpool (Flash very helpful)

Get to Olivine City and then go left to Route 40 followed by Surfing south to Route 41. Use Whirlpool to get to the middle right island. Walk around to the left side and then Surf to the bottom and to the Cave Entrance. You are now at Whirl Islands. Once inside use Flash (Not required but makes moving around so much easier. If you didn't get it at Sprout Tower you can buy it on the cheap at the Goldenrod Department Store.) Work your way right dropping from ledge to ledge until you get to the ladder going down. Go left and talk to the old Monk. He will check your Silver Wing and let you continue. Go down the slope to the last entrance and enter. The Kimono Sisters will be there and they will take back the Tide Bell. Swim over to Lugia and work it.

Legendary Pokemon - Lugia

Tohjo Falls

Before moving on you will need Surf, Strength, and Waterfall. Then Surf right to Route 27 from your home town of New Bark Town. Once you clear the old man since you either captured or eliminated Lugia you can enter the Falls. Surf to and then up the Waterfall and down the other side to continue on Route 27. Continue through 27 to 26 until you finally hit the gatehouse. Right before the Gatehouse is a home where you can heal your Pokemon. At the Gatehouse you'll be checked for all 8 badges and then allowed through.

Victory Road

Work your way through the first area till you get to the first boulder and push it up out of your way. Then up the stairs and over the bridge and down the left side until you get to the ladder. Now go down and right till you hit the next ladder. There will be a hole right where you come off the ladder so drop back down. Head down the path and the push the boulder out of the way and go up the middle stairs to the next ladder. Skip the first hole and continue on until you see 2 holes. Drop down the bottom one. Now just keep on the path until you meet to fight your Rival again.

BATTLE: Rival
lvl 36 Sneasel, lvl 40 Fergaligatr, lvl 38 Golbat, lvl 37 Magneton, lvl 37 Kadabra, & lvl 37 Haunter vs. lvl 37 Ampharos, lvl 46 Typhlosion, & lvl 45 Dragonair

Then head on out and into the Indigo Plateau and the Pokemon League.

Pokemon League - Getting To The 4

Elite 4

Heal and buy some Full Restores and Status Healers. The following battle is 5 Trainers in a ROW. You can use items between but not heal or buy anything. It's a total of 26 Pokemon.

As long as you can beat the first of the Elite 4 you'll end up positive for EXP and Money. These 5 Trainers are GREAT for EXP. Just keep blasting away at them.

BATTLE: Will
lvl 40 Xatu, lvl 41 Slowbro, lvl 41 Jynx, lvl 41 Exeggutor, & lvl 42 Xatu vs. lvl 62 Typhlosion & lvl 53 Ampharos

BATTLE: Koga
lvl 40 Ariados, lvl 43 Forrestress, lvl 42 Muk, lvl 44 Crobat & lvl Venomoth vs. lvl 63 Typhlosion

BATTLE: Bruno
lvl 42 Hitmontop, lvl 43 Onix, lvl 45 Machamp, lvl 42 Hitmonchan & lvl Hitmonlee vs. lvl 56 Lugia & lvl 63 Typhlosion

BATTLE: Karen
lvl 42 Umbreon, lvl 47 Houndoom, lvl 45 Gengar, lvl 42 Vileplume, & lvl 44 Murkrow vs. lvl 63 Typholsion

That is the full list of Pokemon the 4 will bring to the table. I suggest you look them up on SuperCheats.com's Pokedex to learn their weaknesses. My Pokemon might seem WAY over leved and to an extent they are. BUT, this is a great place to suck up EXP and the higher you are now the easier the last half of the game will be.

Pokemon League - Elite 4

BATTLE: Lance
lvl 46 Gyarados, lvl 50 Dragonite, lvl 48 Aerodactyl, lvl 49 Dragonite, lvl 49 Dragonite & lvl 48 Charizard vs. lvl 53 Ampharos & lvl 56 Lugia

Lance's Dragonites LOVE Thunder Wave so be prepared to heal Paralyze and he used 3 Full Restores in my battle so have some of your own to match. Afterwards you will be taken to the Hall of Fame and be inducted along with the Pokemon you have in your party. Watch the end credits and then load your save to start the next section.

Pokemon League - Champion

Thunder Badge

This section of the guide now moves onto the Kanto section of the game.

SS Aqua

You'll be back in your Home in New Bark Town. Head over to Elm's and he'll give you the ticket to the SS Aqua. Fly to Olivine and then make your way south to the docks. You'll be let on the boat as the last passenger with your ticket.

Once on the ship head down the stairs straight ahead of you at the back. A Sailor will block the way and ask you to get his friend up. Head back up and go into the cabin on the right side in the lower left. Wake up the sailor and he'll fight you. Then go back downstairs and you can go past the sailor guarding the door. Head to the far right and up the stairs to the Captain's room and talk to the little girl. She'll run off and hide. She is to the far left of the bottom level. After you "find" her you'll be transported to her grandfather's cabin and he'll give you a Metal Coat. An item that powers up Steel type moves. After that the boat will dock and you'll be in Kanto.

You can really do Kanto in any order so just check the Pokegear Map and you need to hit the following cities for badges: Vermillion, Saffron, Celadon, Fushicia, Cerulean, Pewter, Seafoam & Viridian.

Thunder Badge - SS Aqua

Vermillion Gym

This is the town you start in so you might as well take your first badge right away. First stop off at the Pokemon Fan club just above the Gym. If you talk to the leader there and listen to his whole story he'll give you a Rare Candy for your troubles. There is a doubles battle and a singles battle in the open area of the gym. Then you need to find the hidden switch in one of the trash cans. When you find the first switch save the game. The second switch is either to the left, up, down, or right of the previous one. If you get the wrong one load your save game and try again. Otherwise you have to find the first one all over again.

BATTLE: Sgt Surge
lvl 51 Raichu, lvl 47 Electrode, lvl 47 Electrode, lvl 47 Magneton, & lvl 53 Electabuzz  vs lvl 64 Typhlosion

Surge has all Electric Pokemon so Ground will work well. Otherwise if you leveled up at all with the Elite 4 then you should be able to steamroll Surge.

Thunder Badge - Badge Battle

Marsh Badge

Saffron Gym

The Marsh Badge is in Saffron. Head North out of Vermillion to Route 6. Then take the Gatehouse to Saffron City.

Head out of Saffron to the West via the Gatehouse and take Route 7 down to Celadon. The Gym is at the bottom of the town. Cut the tree on the right side and walk through the forest to get to the Gym.

Head straight up and cut the tree down. Head up and left at the opening just below the first potted flower on the left. Then up and back right above the potted flower. Then all the way up to the middle row and back down the right open path. Right at the opening by the spraying faucet then straight up until you are past the middle and go to the farthest right side above the flower. Then around the Trainer and down the middle right again till you get to the opening on the left. Take that up just a step or two and to left, then down a step to left again. Then straight up to cut the tree. Then head over the to the right to cut the tree just above the Trainer and then run straight up to Erika for the Badge battle.

BATTLE: Erika
lvl 51 Jumpluff, lvl 52 Tangela, lvl 56 Victreebel, & lvl 56 Bellossom vs lvl 64 Typhlosion

Rainbow Badge - Badge Battle

Soul Badge

Fuchisia Gym

Head West out of town on Route 16. Then you need a Bike (You got one from the guy in Goldenrod right?) to take 17 and onto 18 and over to Fuchisia City.

The Gym has a hidden wall maze with the added bonus of all the Trainers looking like the leader. (Spoiler the one you want is in the exact middle). Head immediately to the far right and walk straight up the entire length of the gym. Then cut left past the heart door to the far left wooden door and head down. Head right one slot and go down to the right of the faker Trainer and then walk left above the Trainer and then down and right until you get to the middle Trainer is actually Janine.

BATTLE: Janine
lvl 47 Crobat, lvl 44 Weezing, lvl 47 Ariados & lvl 50 Venomoth vs lvl 65 Typhlosion

Soul Badge - Badge Battle

Cascade Badge

Power Plant

Fly back to Saffron City and head out of town to the North via Route 5. This leads to Cerulean City. Head East to Route 9. Go to the Northeastern most part and Surf your way down the water until you get to the Power Plant. Talk to everyone inside and as you try to leave they will tell you that a shady character was seen at the Cerulean Gym. Head to Cerulean Gym and there will be a Team Rocket Grunt there. He'll run as you enter. Head to Route 25, the bridge, North of town to see him again and fight him. Then head back to the Gym and go around the right side under the guard tower and check out the pile of floaters on the left side. Once you get the piece head back to the Power Plant and give the piece to the Manager. Power Plant back on-line!

Cascade Badge - Powering The Power Plant

Cerulean Gym

Head back to town and go up Route 25 (Bridge) again and follow it to the right to Route 26 fighting a series of 6 Trainers as you go. Then head to the far right and and you'll scare Misty's boyfriend which will send her back to the Gym. At the Gym you can head up the right side, fight the Sailor and then Surf into the pool and around to the top to fight Misty.

BATTLE: Misty
lvl 49 Golduck, lvl 49 Quagsire, lvl 54 Starmie & lvl 52 Lapras vs lvl 55 Ampharos & lvl 66 Typhlosion

Cascade Badge - Badge Battle

Boulder Badge

Magnet Train Pass

Head to Saffron City and go into the Blue house to the upper left of the large office building. On the second floor talk to the girl and she was say she lost her Doll. Now fly to Vermillion and go into the Pokemon Fan Club above the Gym and talk to the Kid sitting at the middle table. He'll give you the Doll and then as you leave you'll be stopped by Steven to talk about Latios. Now fly back to Saffron and give the Doll back to get the Magnet Train Pass.

Expansion Card

Fly over to Lavender Town and enter the Radio Tower. Talk to the guy by the table in to upper middle and he'll give you the expansion card. Fly to Vermillion and head East on Route 11 until you see the Snorlax. Access your Radio in your Pokegear and turn on the Pokeflute Channel by moving the icon to the top of the globe and then talk to Snorlax.
Snorlax is lvl 50 and although not Legendary has a low capture rate. So get him really low (False Swipe is great for this. It leaves the Pokemon with exactly 1 HP and can be bought in Goldenrod). I'm not a Collector though so I just fainted him so I could get past and continue on playing. Head into Diglett's Cave and work your way through to the other side of Kanto coming out on Route 2. First off, head down to Viridian City just to get it activated on the map. Make sure to talk to Elm's aid in the Gatehouse to get a Sacred Ash. This Med revives ALL Pokemon.

Boulder Badge - Trains and Snorlax

Pewter City Gym

Once you've activated Viridian City go North on Route 2 and go in front of Diglett Cave to get to Pewter City and the next gym. Not much of a puzzle. You can either go around the 2 Trainers or fight them for EXP. Then take on Brock.

BATTLE: Brock
lvl 51 Graveler, lvl 51 Rhyhorn, lvl 53 Omastar, lvl 52 Kabutops & lvl 54 Onix  vs lvl 67 Typhlosion, lvl 57 Lugia, lvl 56 Ampharos & lvl 58 Dragonite

Brock has a lot of strong Rock type Pokemon so Grass would do some major damage. Most of his Pokemon are also Dual Type so if you don't have Grass just check the Pokedex to find something that will work. Once you've defeated him you'll get the Boulder Badge and be closer yet to beating the game.

Boulder Badge - Badge Battle

Volcano Badge

Seafoam Islands

Only 2 Gyms left! The next stop is Seafoam Islands. To get there we go to Viridian City and head south on Route 1 to get to Pallet Town. Then surf south on Route 21 to Cinnabar Island. 1) Go to the far right and take the Red Up
2) Go left and hit the Red Up
3) Go up and hit the Red Up

Earth Badge - Badge Battle

End Game

A good strategy for these last few battles is to sacrifice weaker Pokemon on your team and have them be the Healers so to speak. Like when I fight Red's Charizard I need my Ampharos for Electric type moves. But he's already injured. I instead bring in someone like Onix and use his turn to Full Recover Ampharos so when he comes in he's at full strength and can get it done. Do not be afraid to use Full Recovers like they are going out of style. You can win this battle through attrition if you have more recovery items then your opponents. You should have at least one SacredAsh, if not two. This is a good time to have a weak Pokemon hold onto it so if it's get bad you have a free 'Get Out of Jail' card at the ready. Just bring a lot of Full Recoverys and Revives and hopefully you've saved up a Max Revive or two from your travels.

Head to Professor Elm's Lab in Pallet Town and he'll give you TM 08 which is Rock Climb. It will allow you to get to some previously unreachable areas in the game. He'll also unlock Mt. Silver for the Final Showdown. Another option is to go to the Pokemon League where everyone has been upgraded and this is a good move to make a lot of EXP for end game stuff. The last battle will include Pokemon in the 80s so you're going to need to level up quite a bit. You can also go to Mt. Moon to for a final showdown with your Rival.

Mt. Moon

Head East from Pewter City on Route 3 to Mt. Moon.

BATTLE: Rival
lvl 46 Sneasel, lvl 50 Feraligatr, lvl 48 Alakazam, lvl 46 Magneton, lvl 48 Gengar & lvl 47 Golbat vs lvl 69 Typhlosion, lvl 61 Ampharos & lvl 58 Lugia

End Game - Mt Moon

Elite 4 Take Two

You can redo the Final 4 now with much higher levels and 6 Pokemon each. This is great for the money and experience but has no further game advancing need. Once you beat them it will go to the credits yet again.

BATTLE: Will
lvl 58 Bronzong, lvl 59 Grumpig, lvl 60 Jynx, lvl 60 Slowbro, lvl 61 Gardevoir & lvl 62 Xatu

BATTLE: Koga
lvl 61 Skuntank, lvl 60 Toxicroak, lvl 64 Crobat, lvl 62 Swalot, lvl 63 Venomoth & lvl 62 Muk

BATTLE: Bruno
lvl 62 Hitmontop, lvl 62 Hariyama, lvl 64 Machamp, lvl 64 Lucario, lvl 61 Hitmonlee & lvl 61 Hitmonchan

BATTLE: Karen
lvl 62 Weavile, lvl 62 Spirtomb, lvl 64 Honchkrow, lvl 64 Umbreon, lvl 63 Houndoom & lvl 62 Absol

BATTLE: Lance
lvl 72 Salamence, lvl 68 Gyrados, lvl 72 Garchomp, lvl 75 Dragonite, lvl 68 Charizard, lvl 73 Altaria

MY TEAM:
Lvl 80 Typhlosion, lvl 71 Ampharos, lvl 64 Dragonite, lvl 73 Lugia & lvl 58 Articuno

End Game - Elite 4 Part 2

End Game - Lance

Mt. Silver

When you feel you are ready, (IE Pokemon that are around lvl 80), you can head left out of Victory Road to get to Mt. Silver. You will need Surf, Rock Climb, and Waterfall to get to the final showdown. From the Mt. Silver entrance take the right Rock Climb path. Head outside and work your way up and around to the back bottom cave. Back inside simply continue on the path taking the wide stairs up and going back outside. Keep going up stairs as you come to them, if you make a wrong turn it's only going to take you to an item so it's up to you how long you want this area to last. There are a LOT of turns. When you are back out in the snow head around the right side and enter the last of the 2 caves. Once back on the snow again head inside the cave INSTEAD of up the Rock Climb. Then back outside and take the middle of the 3 Rock Climbs and then it's on the to the final battle!

BATTLE: Red
lvl 88 Pikachu, lvl 84 Blastoise, lvl 84 Venusaur, lvl 84 Charizard, lvl 80 Lapras & lvl 82 Snorlax

End Game - Mt Silver Showdown

More Starters

After beating Red you can go to Professor Oak's lab in Pallet town to get a new starter and also the large building in Saffron City. Getting the one from Oak is needed if you want to catch Groudon.

Catching Legendaries

Most of the Legendaries and Hidden Pokemon are only available after getting all 16 Badges. Things to remember are MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN OPEN SPACE. It's very frustrating to trek through a dungeon to realize you can't even catch Mewtwo at all because you came with a full party. Giving Pokemon statuses like Par and Slp is a HUGE help. Also the move Flash Swipe is awesome. It leaves 1 HP left if it would otherwise knock out a Pokemon. Also make sure to bring plenty of Ultra Balls. I've thrown 20 Ultra at a Legendary before getting a capture. This is also the end game and some of these Legendaries are in low level areas so some Max Repeals would be nice so you aren't fighting a lvl 3 Hoothoot ever 5 seconds.

Don't forget your one Master Ball you got for beating the initial 8. It's 100% guaranteed. You may want to use it on one of the Dogs since they can get annoying always running away or just one of the harder to catch higher levels like Ho-Oh.

Each legendary in Soul Silver will be tackled one by one on the following pages.

Raikou and Entei

Entei in our Pokedex: http://pokemon.supercheats.com/entei/

REQUIREMENTS: Release them from the Ecruteak Burnt Tower.
ABILITIES NEEDED: NONE
LEVEL: 40 Each

Once you release the 3 Legendary Dogs from the Burnt Tower Raikou and Entei will be wondering the Routes of the game that include tall grass. They will only stays for 1 Round in any battle and then they flee but they will retain any Status and damage you have done to them. If have a Pokemon that has an ability that will keep them from running then bonus. Otherwise work them down one attack at a time. They change Routes every time you do so your best bet is to simply going back and forth between two routes (I use Routes 36 & 37 below Ecruteak) until you see in the Pokegear that they are in your area. Then head into the grass and capture them.

Room 1: Use the jump to the right and continue around taking the only path available to the ladder. Be careful of the hidden jump at the top middle.
Room 2: Down, Left, Down x3 [now on platform with Item], now just go around on the path until you get to the ladder.
Room 3: When you get to the split take the right side and go up the ladder.
Room 4: Go Up to the top bridge and then jump down the two levels and take the ladder up.
Room 5: Skip the first teleport and head around to the bottom one and then just take every teleport as you see them.

REQUIREMENTS: Get all 16 Badges.
ABILITIES NEEDED: Surf, Flash & Rock Climb
LEVEL: 70

Mewtwo is in Cerulean Cave. Got get there head out of Cerulean city via the Route 24 bridge and hang an immediate left. Then Surf off the grass Southwards to the cave entrance. In the cave head North and then surf up and left as far as you can go. You'll land by two ladders which you want to ignore and continue South along the bottom of the path until you get to another ladder. Nope to that one also. Head left down the stairs and under the bridge and around until you get to a 4th ladder. Take this one up. At the first fork do up, at the second go right and follow that around until you get to the next ladder, then down twice. Ignore the Rock Climbs and continue on the path taking a right at the fork until you get to some water. Surf to the right and go around to another patch of water and Surf on that and take the first right and you'll end up at Mewtwo.

Groudon

Groudon in our Pokedex: http://pokemon.supercheats.com/groudon/

REQUIREMENTS: Beat Red.
ABILITIES NEEDED: Surf & Rock Climb
LEVEL: 50

First off you need to beat Red. Then head to Professor Oak's lab in Pallet Town. Make sure you have an open space and you'll get a new Starter Pokemon. Then head to Cherrygrove and North to Mr. Pokemon's house and he'll give you the Red Orb [Blue Orb in HG]. Now we need to fly to Cianwood and Groudon is on Route 47. Head West out of Cianwood and Chuck will stop you and talk about the Embedded Tower. Head all the way up the left side ignoring the Rock Climb and head outside. Go around and into the cave after battling the Trainer and then take the ladder DOWN. Surf and go to the far left. At the bridge there is a tricky rock split that allows you to go through. Rock Climb up to the top and enter to fight Groudon in SS and Kyorge in HG.  Groudon can be a real PAIN because of Rest. It does put him to sleep but it also heals him 100% and he LOVES to Rest. If I didn't really want to save the Master Ball for Lati[a/o]s this would be a great choice to use it on.

Latios

Latios in our Pokedex: http://pokemon.supercheats.com/latios

REQUIREMENTS: Fix the Magnet Train
ABILITIES NEEDED: NONE
LEVEL: 35

Latios [Latias in HG] will be roaming the Kanto section of the map as soon as you get the Magnet Train pass. Unlike the dogs though Latios will run BEFORE your turn if his speed is higher then yours. Routes 24 - 25 are good back and forth Routes to wait for him. Because of the pain of getting him to show up and also the fact he runs IMMEDIATELY I would use the Master Ball to just get him and get it over with. You can try to use moves like Mean Look that keep a Pokemon from running as long as your Speed is higher then Latios. If you are getting all the Legends at the end game then you probably do have him beat for Speed.
