Super Mario Galaxy 2 Walkthrough

Super Mario Galaxy 2 Walkthrough

SMG2

The universe is a big place, and Mario’s got a staggering number of stars to collect. Don’t miss a single power-up, hidden secret, or collectible item — read this comprehensive, step-by-step walkthrough and get the most out of the game. Your guide is in another castle, after the jump.

Controls
Walk/Run: Tilt the control stick in the direction you want to move. The further you tilt, the faster you move.

Spin: Flick the Wii remote from side to side.

Cursor: Point the Wii remote at the screen will cause a cursor to appear. Move the cursor over star bits to collect them and add them to your total.

Shoot: Press B to shoot a star bit

Jump: Press A to jump.

Triple Jump: Press A right before Mario lands to have him jump again, up to three times.

Backflip: Press Z then A to do a backflip for extra height.

Long Jump: Run, then press Z and then A to do a long jump.

Wall Jump: Hold the control stick toward a wall and press A to jump upward, away from the wall.

Ground Pound: Press A to jump and then Z in mid-air.

First-Person view: Press up on the D+Pad to get a first-person view. While in this mode, the control stick will pan the camera. Press down on the D+Pad to get out of this mode.

Pan Left: Press left on the D+Pad to pan the camera left.

Pan Right: Press right on the D+Pad to pan the camera right.

Center Camera: Press C to center the camera behind Mario.

Yoshi: Jump on or spin near a Yoshi egg to hatch a Yoshi. Jump on him or spin near him to get on.

Yoshi’s Tongue: Hold the cursor over an object or enemy and the cursor will begin to spin and a circle will appear around the object. Press B when this circle is visible and Yoshi will launch his tongue at it.

Dismount: Hold Z and press A to get off of Yoshi. If Mario gets hurt while riding on Yoshi, he will fall off and begin to run around. If you can’t get back to Yoshi to remount, you will have to find a new Yoshi egg.

Power-ups
1-up Mushroom: The green mushroom that is good for one extra life.

Life Mushroom: The red mushroom with stars on it will refill your life and allow you to carry 6 units of health.

Bee Mushroom: The mushroom with yellow and black stripes that will allow Mario to temporarily fly and step on clouds. Hold the A button in mid-air to fly.

Boo Mushroom: The white mushroom with a mouth will allow Mario to float through certain solid objects.

Spring Mushroom: The silver, coiled-up mushroom will cause Mario to bounce around.

Rock Mushroom: The mushroom that looks a rock will allow Mario to roll around in rock form and ram into enemies and objects. Shake the Wii remote to roll into into rock form.

Fire Flower: The red flower will allow Mario to hurl fireballs.

Cloud Flower: The cloud with a stem growing out of the bottom will make Mario lighter in the air. This power will also enable the creation of up to three cloud platforms by spinning in midair.

Rainbow Star: This will allow Mario to run faster and become invincible for a short period of time.

Dash Pepper: A red and orange pepper will allow Yoshi to scale steep slopes and vertical walls. But he will run around like a maniac and can be difficult to control.

Blimp Fruit: A round, light blue fruit that will cause Yoshi to turn blue and float like a balloon. Yoshi will consistently move upward, as long as the air gauge is not empty. Hold A to cause Yoshi to hold his breath, allowing him to temporarily hover.

Bulb Berry: A yellow, light bulb-shaped berry will cause Yoshi to glow and turn yellow. With this power, nearby invisible platforms will appear so that Yoshi can then walk over.

Stars
Normal Stars: The basic stars that you will collect at the majority of most levels.

Bronze Stars: These are the stars you will receive if for whatever reason you need help passing a stage. A light blue Cosmic Guide will guide you through the stage, but the Bronze Star that you receive at the end of the stage won’t show up your list as a normal Gold Star.

Grand Stars: Once earned, these stars unlock new galaxies to venture to.

Hidden Stars: Once you have collected all of the normal stars in a galaxy, a “?” will float over the galaxy to inform you that you can begin searching for one or more Hidden Stars in that galaxy.

Miscellaneous Items
Spin Drill: spinning while in possession of one of these will cause Mario to dig through the ground directly underneath him.

Checkpoint Flag: A black flag with Bowser’s face on it that will turn into a red “M” once you walk past it.

Comet Medals: Each galaxy has one Comet Medal hidden somewhere inside of it, in the first stage. After you collect quite a few of these, a comet will appear over a galaxy, allowing you to attempt a challenge in that galaxy to earn another star.

Coins: Each coin you pick up will fill one point on your life gauge. You will also get a 1-up for every 100 you collect on stages after completing them.

Star Bits: Star bits can be picked up by pointing at them with the cursor using the Wiimote. They are used as ammo to shoot at enemies and can also be used as a form of currency. When shot at enemies, they will often stun them, or even defeat them. Also, a large number of these must be collected to enter some galaxies.

World 1
Sky Station Galaxy
PEEWEE PIRANHA’S TEMPER TANTRUM
-Turn left and go down the red pipe to get an easy 1-up mushroom.
-Walk around the path to gather coins and perform a spin to kill any of the goombas.
(There are coins and star bits hidden in the small patches of plants and flowers.)
-Head down the green pipe.
-Go up to the top of the hill and spin the crystal to break it.
-Jump into the hole that has been left there so that you end up on top of the house.
-Run to the Luma calling after you. When you get to him he will transform
into a launch star. Shake the Wiimote to launch yourself to the next area.
-Follow the Luma by using the the appearing and disappearing platforms to get around.
-For the platforms over the gap, wait for them to appear and when they reach the top, jump up to get another 1-up mushroom.
-Jump to Grab the huge coin on your left and a line of colorful musical notes will appear. Collect them all (being sure to hit the checkpoint flag along the way) before they disappear to get 3 1-up mushrooms.
-Head down the grassy path to the right, step on the blue teleporter and spin to teleport to an area with a rainbow star and a bunch of enemies. Kill all of the enemies quickly to get 3 1-up mushrooms.
-Teleport back and head up the platforms where a Luma will be waiting for you to launch you to your next area.
-Jump from the first planet to the second (don’t worry, gravity won’t let you fall), then use the sling star on this planet.
-After moving in a big circle and finally landing on the third planet, use the launch star to take you to your next area.
-Continue along the path of this cylinder-shaped area, being careful not to walk through the mud or get knocked off by the big gray trolleys into the black holes surrounding the area.
-Jump on the first trolley to get a 1-up. (A good method for this is to stand in the area where it will pass, hold down Z to crouch and as soon as the trolley is about to hit you, press A to perform a backflip.)
-Jump on the second to obtain a Comet Medal.
-Continue to move up along the path to where the Luma will transform into a launch star.
-Grab the life mushroom and hit the checkpoint flag.
-Walk down the path and walk around the structure in front of you to get another 1-up mushroom.
-Head up the steps to reach another launch star.
-You’ll land on a planet with a very large, and very unhappy, Peewee Piranha.
-Get behind him and spin three separate times to break his shell off completely.
-After this, his shell will grow back and he will begin to run around wildly. Make sure to keep moving and after you hit his back with a spin move three more times, you will have your first star.
-You will find yourself aboard Starship Mario, which you will use to get from galaxy to galaxy.
-Following your conversation with Lubba, step on the yellow switch in front of the wheel to access the world map.
-Stay at this current galaxy to find the next star.

STORMING THE SKY FLEET
-Watch out for all of the Chomps as you make your way to the left toward the green pipe.
-On this side of the plant, use a spin move on the green objects that look like hot-air balloons to hit and kill the Chomps. One of them has a key that you need to free the trapped Luma.
-You can also use a spin move against one of the green objects in the direction of the treasure chests to get more star bits and a 1-up mushroom.
-After you have freed the Luma, take the launch star to the next area.
-Land on the cylindrical planet with Banzai Bills coming toward you.
-Find the metal gate near the cannons and drop into it to hit the checkpoint flag.
-Move to the right and after you fall down the series of ledges, stay to the right to fall onto a platform.
-Continue right to find a blue teleporter that will take you to an area with more star bits.
-After you come back, jump up the revolving platform until you see another launch star.
-After you land on the next planet, get the checkpoint flag and step on each of the switches to turn them yellow while dodging Banzai Bills coming from the left. (Do not step on any of the switches you have already hit, otherwise they will return to being blue and you won’t be able to move on to the next platform.)
-Perform this same action on the next platform to get another launch star, but watch out for Cosmic Clones (those creepy little brown guys).
-In the next area, allow more Banzai Bills to pass until you reach the trapped star.
-Make a left down the path and a right to climb up the pole.
-Kill the large, black Piranha Plant by using a spin move on the green object to get the key that unlocks the star.
-Make your way back down the path, making sure to stop in between the little gap to allow the Bill to pass you before grabbing the star.

PEEWEE PIRANHA’S SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Star Station Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-Be ready! As soon as you start you are only given 20 seconds.
-You will need to collect clocks around the stage to extend that time, but each clock will add 10 seconds to the timer.
-To start off, head straight for the green pipe and grab the clock on top.
-Once on the other side, grab the clock in front of you and head straight up the hill to break the crystal.
-Fall through the hole and use the launch star.
-Continue forward on the next planet and pick up the clock to the left of the trolley.
-Dodge the trolleys and continue right. When you get to the second set of trolleys, jump onto one of them. There are two clocks here and the trolley will transport you to the next launch star.
-Unfortunately, you will have to fight Peewee Piranha again.
-Beat him just like you did before and a new star will be yours.

Yoshi Star Galaxy
SADDLE UP WITH YOSHI
-Make your way up the path, avoiding the spike plants before getting up to the higher platform.
-Spin the Magikoopa to free the Yoshi egg. Spin the egg to meet Yoshi.
-Head to the left of the Yoshi egg toward a hill with some fruit growing
out of the side of it. Move around to the back and jump off the spring before flutter jumping to grab the Comet Medal on top of it.
-Head toward the dirt path with four fruit growing along it. Remember to use the cursor on the Wiimote to point to fruit or enemies for Yoshi to eat.
-Continue forward and use the teleporter if you want to.
-Go to the large large fruit and hold B while you target it, then pull back on the control stick and a launch star will appear.
-Once on the rock planet, hit the Chance Die box if you dare, then spin the
crystals and one of them will reveal a launch star.
-Use the springs to scale the platforms and make your way up the mountain on this next planet.
-Use Yoshi’s tongue to eat the spiky fruit by locking onto to it and pulling back on the control stick.
-Once on top, use Yoshi’s tongue to swing off of the floating flower and reach the next planet where you will see the launch star.
-At this next area, make your way to the left until you reach a platform with a handle on it. Grab it with Yoshi’s tongue and pull it towards you to create a bridge.
-Once you cross it, continue up to the flower, then go to the right.
-Use the platforms and flowers as you make your way up. Spin the crystal with the
star in it twice to release it, then use the flowers to collect it.

SPINY CONTROL
-This stage begins in the same place as the last, except that now you have to avoid the Spiny.
-Get Yoshi and continue forward.
-With Yoshi’s tongue, grab one of the Spinies and spit it at the cage with the launch star to let it out. There is also a teleporter if you are interested.
-In the next area, use a Spiny to free the Luma in the middle cage. Once he transforms, take the launch star to the next area.
-Use the platforms with handles to get to another cage. Grab a Spiny, break the cage and use the launch star.
-Use the flowers to get onto the platform and prepare for another boss to fight.
-To defeat this giant Lakitu you will have to shoot three Spinies back at him.
-Watch out for when moves over the platform and shoots lightning onto it. After you defeat him, grab the star.

SPINY RAINBOW ROMP
-When a comet appears over Yoshi Star Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-You have 60 seconds to take out 30 Spinies.

-There are rainbow stars all around to help you out. There is one at the very beginning, three around the fountain in the middle and more near the hill that had the Comet Medal on it. Rainbow stars also help you run faster, so always pick them up as you go along so you don’t waste time.
-Get all 30 Spinies in under 30 seconds and then grab the star that will appear in
the middle when you are finished.

Spin-Dig Galaxy
DIGGA-LEG’S PLANET
-Grab the spin drill and head to the crater directly opposite the largest spire on the planet. Spin to drill through the planet and then talk to the Luma on the other side. He will transform into a launch star for you.
-If you need an extra 1-up mushroom, head to the crater that is on the opposite side of the caged 1-up mushroom.
-Once in the next area, stand on top of the slightly raised are and drill through it. This will take you through to a raised platform on the other side of the planet.
-Walk to the right and drill back through to the other side where you will end up on the highest platform.
-Jump to right to get the four coins and then jump out to grab the Comet Medal.
-After this, repeat the steps to get you back on the highest platform where the Luma was waiting for you. Use the launch star that he will transform into.
-Get the checkpoint and walk across the disappearing platforms.
-There is a teleporter to the right and a 1-up mushroom to the left.
-When you reach the far platform with six coins on it, wait for the Luma to show up. He will transform into a launch star for you to use.
-Grab the drill in the next area and drill anywhere on the planet to grab all of the coins on the inside. Then, drill through the indent on the inside of the planet to reach the launch star on top.
-This will take you to the Starshroom, where a member of the Toad Brigade will
meet you. There will also be Luma nearby who will trade you 30 star bits for either a life mushroom or a 1-up mushroom.
-The next area is where you have to defeat Digga-Leg.
-Pick up a spin drill and wait for Digga-Leg to shoot a drill enemy through the planet. Either jump over or kill this drill enemy, then wait for Digga-Leg to turn over the glass casing holding the star and perform a spin move to drill through and hit the glass casing.
-Each time you hit him he will send out more shock-waves and begin to jump around more. Prepare to drill when you see him shake up and down and let out steam.
-Once you hit the glass casing three times, you will have defeated him, and a star will appear for you to grab.

SILVER STARS DOWN DEEP
-At the beginning of this stage, watch out for Cosmic Clones. Don’t mess with them, just run away.
-Find a crystal with a sling star in it, and break it to destroy the clones. Then, use it to jump up to the Piranha Plant on the elevated platform, and jump onto the vine that it leaves behind. Spin to move up the vine toward the next area.
-Use the teleporter if you’d like and then head down the pipe.
-Grab a spin drill and use it to make your way down, bouncing off of the angles in the wall.
-Once you reach the pipe at the bottom, enter it.
-Again, make your way down in this area by drilling, but make sure to dodge the Amps on your way down. Head through the pipe at the bottom.
-Free the launch star to take you to your next area. Once you land on the Starshroom use the next launch star to get to the next area.
-If you talked to one of the Toad Brigade members then he informed you that all you have to do in this next area is collect 5 silver stars to create a gold star.
-Two of the silver stars are on the outside, one on the left and one on the right.
-After you have obtained these, begin to drill through the planet and get the three on the inside (one on the left and two on the right).
-Once you have found all five, the star will appear on the top of the planet.

DIGGA-LEG’S DAREDEVIL RUN
-When a comet appears over Spin-Dig Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-For this challenge, simply defeat Digga-Leg without taking damage.
-The fight is the exact same as when you faced Digga-Leg the first time: use the drill to spin through and break the glass casing three times.
-After you’ve carefully completed this and destroyed Digga-Leg, grab the star.

Flip-Swap Galaxy
THINK BEFORE YOU SHAKE
-The title of this stage says it all: every time you spin the Wiimote all of the red and blue platforms will switch.
-Make your way down the pathway, jumping from each platform to an opposite-colored platform and performing a spin in between each jump.
-About halfway down the path, make sure to get the checkpoint. Just after this will be the hardest part of the stage, in which you have to avoid  a number of Chomps coming at you. Time your jumps, and know that each Chomp will only follow one like-colored path.
-Grab the Comet Medal on the lone blue platform near the end of this area.
-Continue down the path, but make sure to time your jumps in and out of the electric fences.
-The last jump is the most difficult. Make sure to take your time and after you nail it, grab the star.

PURPLE COIN FLIP ‘N’ SPRINT
-This is a particularly tricky challenge. Jump between the red and blue platforms and collect all 100 purple coins in under three minutes.
-Unfortunately, the layout of the level has changed, but all of the purple coins are in plain sight.
-Watch out for the Chomps and electric fences. Time your jumps wisely, remembering to change the platforms in mid-air where necessary.
-Once you reach the 100th coin on the last platform, the star will appear right in front of you.

Rightside Down Galaxy
BREAKING THE LAWS OF GRAVITY
-Make your way down to the bottom and perform a ground pound on the big red button by jumping and pressing the Z button in mid-air
-Spin the flower on your left to launch you onto the next platform.
-Dodge the spiked enemy and spin the switch just ahead change the direction of gravity. (Note that the red walls with arrows going up will put you on the ceiling, while the blue walls with arrows pointing down will have you walking on the ground.)
-Continue to the right and disregard the green pipe to your left — that will used to obtain the next star.
-Wait for the purple Piranha Plant to swing his head at you, then jump on it. Use the
next flower to launch you to the next area.
-Head to the right and grab the “?” coin for a ton of coins to appear.
-Continue to the right and jump between gravity directions and the moving platforms.
-After passing the purple Toad, head up on the moving platform to find another switch to spin.
-Walk across the yellow and black ceiling but be careful of the Chomps and Thwomps. Getting crushed by a Thwomp will result in instant death.
-One you get past the last Thwomp and gravity has changed back to the blue wall, turn and perform a long jump. As gravity begins to pull you back up, wall jump off of the last Thwomp and grab the Comet Medal.
-Continue moving right and grab the Fire Flower to use it to burn the crates.
-Keep moving right, across the green area. You’ll meet some Goombas and have to cross some platforms before you eventually arrive back to the 2-dimensional section.
-Move quickly across the line of Thwomps, making sure to use the triple-jump to your advantage.
-Once you make it across, you’ll see the star. Spin while right above it to grab it.

THE GREAT CRATE INCINERATOR
-Select “Breaking the Laws of Gravity.”
-In the first gravity section with the switch, head back to the left, toward that green pipe you saw earlier.
-Once you go through, there will be a fire flower and a bunch of boxes waiting for you on the other side. Burn the boxes to find another pipe in the far right corner of the
room.
-After you have entered this pipe you will be asked to burn a set of boxes
in under 20 seconds.
-This is tricky, but your fireballs will go through the boxes, so you can take out more than one box at a time.
-After you have complete this task, you will receive a star for your efforts.

Fluffy Bluff Galaxy
SEARCH FOR THE TOAD BRIGADE CAPTAIN
-Turn right toward the tree and climb up it to grab the “?” coin, which will give you a small sum of coins.
-Follow the path to the cloud flower.
-Spin to make some cloud platforms to the next area. Remember, if you take damage or touch water, you will need to get a new cloud flower.
-Grab another cloud flower up ahead and use it to scale the wall.
-Grab another cloud flower before you hit the checkpoint flag.
-Make your way across the cloud platforms and create your own when needed.
-Make sure you save at least two clouds before your last big jump (you’ll need these at the next area).
-Wall jump up to the launch star.
-In this next area, be sure not to touch the ring of water that surrounds you. Perform a long jump in the direction of the Comet Medal. As you start to come down, create a cloud platform (and then another if needed) to grab the Comet Medal.
-Avoid the Cosmic Clones as you gather five star chips to create a launch star. Spin it after it appears.

THE CHIMP’S STOMP CHALLENGE
-Once you unlock the Mailtoad, The Chimp will send you a letter, challenging you
to a minigame in Fluffy Bluff Galaxy. The Mailtoad will be aboard your ship and notify you when this challenge becomes available.
-Talk to the Chimp, who will notify you that you need to beat 10,000 points in 120 seconds in his minigame.
-In order to accumulate more points, jump on multiple enemies in a row without touching the ground.
-You will get 100 points for the first enemy in the chain, 200 for the second, and 300 for every enemy after that.
-You will also get 100 points for each coin and 10 for each SB you pick up.
-Just behind the starting point, there is a tree with a “?” coin in it that will get you 1,000 points and then 800 additional points for each little coin that you pick up.
-In the area with the fountains, there is a life mushroom behind the tree that will get you an easy 1,000 points.
-Use the sling star to get on higher ground and find more enemies.
-The 1-up mushroom up here is also worth 1,000 points, and the “?” block has eight coins in it.
-Once the timer runs out, if you have 10,000 points or more, you will get a star. Otherwise, it will cost you a life.

EVERY PLANET HAS ITS PRICE
-Pick “Search for the Toad Brigade Captain.”
-For this star you will first need to obtain 100 coins.
-First, head to the tree behind you, grab the “?” coin and get 8 coins.
-Head to the tree in the area with the fountains, where there is a pipe in the back.
-After you go down it, jump to get the “?” coin and quickly grab the three different sets of disappearing coins.
-If you can get them all, you will get not only 64 coins, but 3 1-ups as well.
-Once you reach the first cloud flower, make three cloud platforms straight up, so that you can reach the “?” block above.
-Long jump over to the tree on your left and use the sling star to shoot you up onto a cloud overhead.
-Grab the “?” coin and another 40 coins will appear.
-By now, you should have at least 100. Talk the the Luma, give him the coins and use the launch star that appears.
-Here, scale the wall using the cloud flower and the moving platforms. Try to use the provided platforms whenever possible in order to conserve cloud platforms.
-Once you reach the top, grab the star.

Bowser Jr.’s Fiery Flotilla
GOBBLEGUT’S ACHING BELLY
-Make your way down the path, past the enemies with helmets. Turn left past the the Thwomp and position yourself so that you are standing on the purple area with your back to the Thwomp.
-As soon as it hits the ground, perform a backflip and jump up for the Comet Medal.
-Continue on your path toward the launch star.
-In this next area, watch out for Dry Bones and rotating walls of fire.
-Before you head up to the launch star, grab the life mushroom on your left.
-After you meet Bowser Jr., you’ll meet his friend, Gobblegut.
-Wait for him to make a train noise. It’s your warning that he is about to burrow into the planet. Get close to him, and each time one of those pink rings gets stuck, spin to break them.
-After you break three of them, Gobblegut gets angry and begins to come at you faster.

-Run around in circles to avoid his attacks and repeat the same process of breaking the three pink rings around his body. The last one will be the hardest because by this time he will already be coming through the other side of the planet and looking to take a bite out of you.
-Run around in circles, but stay close to his body. After you break the last pink ring, grab the star.

FIERY FLOTILLA SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Bowser Jr.’s Fiery Flotilla, return for a comet
challenge.
-For this challenge, simply defeat Gobblegut within two minutes. If you are up to the task, you will earn another star.

World 2

Puzzle Plank Galaxy
THE PUZZLING PICTURE BLOCK
-Ground Pound the center wooden piece with the “burst” icon on it.
-Now on this lower level, ground pound the four switches. The far-left one will give you a bunch of musical notes good for 3 1-up mushrooms, and the near-right one has a launch star.
-On this next planet, walk to the under side of the planet and ground pound all of the platforms all the way down so that they are up on the side that you started on (start with the tallest one first).
-Once all three have been pounded in, run back around to the other side and use the
now reachable launch star.
-As soon as you land on the wooden platform, quickly grab the checkpoint and sprint up the pathway. To the left will be a Comet Medal.
-Quickly jump back onto the main path and wall jump in between the newly cut area leading up the next zone.
-Again, move quickly in this area and don’t even bother with the Mandibug (the big purple guy).
-Ground pound the switch at the end to make a sling star appear. Use it quickly before the platforms get cut away, and it will take you to a Luma shop. Buy the mushroom of your choice, and use the launch star.
-For this puzzle area, ground pound the three surfaces with the “burst” icon so that the picture on top completes the bug.
-Once the puzzle is complete, a Mandibug stack will appear with baby on its back.
-Wait for them to charge at you, then jump on them to stun them and ground pound them to kill the baby.
-Repeat this process to kill the larger one and receive a star.

BUGABOOM’S BACK
-After you select “The Puzzling Picture Book,” you need to obtain 70 coins by the end of the second planet.
-There are five in the far-right red button at the beginning of the stage.
-Grab the four on the path at the second planet.
-The enemy on top of the platforms is holding one and the “?” coin will have five.
-Walk through the bushes at the bottom of the platforms, where there are four more hiding.
-Pounding one of the wooden stumps on the planet will get you five more.
-Jump into the pipe and grab the “?” coin here to make another 48 coins appear. Quickly grab all of them before they disappear.
-When you have 70 or more, talk to the Luma on the bottom of the planet. He will
transform into a new planet. Use the launch star to get over there.
-Bugaboom will be there waiting for you. Simply obtain a cloud mushroom and create a series of clouds to get above him. Once he moves under you, jump off and perform a ground pound to squash him.
-Repeat this two more times, but beware, Bugaboom will drop exploding bombs as he begins to fly around. Make sure not to get hurt by these or touch the water; otherwise you’ll have to get a new cloud mushroom.
-Once you’ve ground pounded him three times, grab the star.

PURPLE COIN SHADOW VAULT
-When a comet appears over Puzzle Plank Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-Collect all of the purple coins in under one minute. It sounds easy, but as time goes on more and more Cosmic Clones will begin to appear. Get the coins in a way that doesn’t require you to retrace your steps.
-Once you get all 100, the star will appear in the middle of the room.

Hightail Falls Galaxy
HOT-STEPPING DASH PEPPER
-Cross the bridge in front of you and grab Yoshi.
-Run up the incline quickly and when you are close enough, grab the Dash Pepper with Yoshi’s tongue. This will turn Yoshi red and give you a speed burst up the steep inclines.
-Navigate your way up and use the launch star at the end of the path.
-In this next area, you will need to use the pepper to get up the wall in front of you. Watch out for obstacles. If you hit them you will lose your momentum and fall back down
on the left side of the wall.
-Get the launch star on the right side of the wall.
-Quickly walk across the gray platforms, as they will fall away when you step on them. Use the dash peppers to get across quickly and use the launch star at the end of the path.
-Use the dash pepper to run up the walls, however, this time if you fall there is a good chance that you and Yoshi will meet your demise.
-Turn left up the second wall after you have grabbed another dash pepper, and carefully make your way in between the purple walls at the top, where a Comet Medal will be waiting for you.
-If you didn’t have enough momentum to make it around, grab the dash pepper again and turn to head up the wall, to your left and then down to the other side.
-Once you reach the slope, use the flowers to get to the next platform.
-Use the dash pepper to get you up this wall and around to the other side. If you accidentally bump into part of the wall, press A to cause Yoshi to float and guide yourself towards the star that is located in the small inset on the wall.

HIGHTAIL FALLS SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Hightail Falls Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-This is just like the original stage, except you have to get to the end in under three minutes. Oh, and there are also meteors falling from the sky just for fun.
-Use the first dash pepper in the stage to run straight to the launch star.
-The next area is the tall wall. Remember to head up the right side to get to
the launch star.
-You will now have to deal with the gray, falling platforms. However, this time around they are not full squares, so you will also have to dodge the gaps in
the platforms.
-Use the dash pepper to quickly make it to the launch star at the end.
-Wall run past the meteors and if you can get to the end before time runs out, there will be a star waiting for you.

SILVER STARS IN HIGHTAIL FALLS
-You will need to have 30 coins by the time you reach the area with the poles on the walls.
-Grab coins on the first wall that you have to run up. The “?” coin will cause a lot of coins to appear and there are also a lot of coins on the right side of the wall.
-Also, use the teleporter to the right of the launch star to gain some extra coinage. Remember that it is important that you don’t lose any lives. Otherwise, when you start over on a new life, your coin count will reset to 0.
-Once you reach the Luma, give him 30 coins and use the new launch star.
-On the new planet, use Yoshi’s tongue to grab the five silver stars from the frog-like enemies to get another star.

Wild Glide Galaxy
FLUZZARD’S FIRST FLIGHT
-Talk to the bird in the middle, who will teach you the bird-flying controls.
-Before you actually begin, remember that crashing into a wall will result in losing a life. Crashing into gates will only cost you one health.
-The balloons aren’t really important, but if you want some extra SBs, you can break them by running into them or by shooting an SB at them.
-Along the path, there are five gates. The first four are in plain sight, but the fifth is somewhat hidden.
-After the cave with the branching paths, look down and to the left to find the fifth gate.
-Fly through all five, and a Comet Medal will appear at the left side of the course,
in front of the fifth gate. You won’t have much time to react, so point up on the Wiimote to buy yourself some time to grab it.
-Make it to the sun circle to get a star. (Note that you do not need to beat 1:30.)

JUNGLE FLUZZARD RACE
-Again, this is one of those challenges that can only be attempted once Mailtoad receives a letter from Jibberjay, challenging you to a race in Wild Glide Galaxy.
-Talk to the black bird in the middle of the platform to start the
race.
-The course is exactly the same. Get first place and win a star. (Tip: tilting the Wiimote down will result in a nosedive and cause you to fly faster.)

Honeybloom Galaxy
BUMBLE BEGINNINGS
-Head left and wall jump when necessary.
-Grab the swings by jumping onto them, then let go when you have enough momentum by pressing A. Use this technique to cross the next gap.
-Continue upward until you reach the Bee Mushroom. Use this power to fly small heights, but like other powers, touching water or getting hit by enemies will make you lose the ability.
-Fly up to the next platform, then continue right and up. Grab another bee mushroom in this area if at any time you need one.
-Carefully fly in between the two flying enemies, where there will be Comet Medal in an alcove.
-After you grab it, continue upward. Once the camera rotates, jump onto the vines to go to the next area.
-Running into the gigantic grapes in this area will cause you to bounce off of them, but they will also restore a small amount of “flyability” to your fly gauge.
-Continue right and up, until you reach an area with poles. These poles will fill up your fly gauge, when you grab onto them, but watch out for Fuzzies moving up and down them. Keep moving up, then cross the large gap on the right using the swings, and grab the vine to go to the next area.
-Here, watch out for the spiky plant enemies who will lunge toward you and the flower-like platform that will eat you if you stand on it for too long.
-When you eventually reach a set of cloud platforms, fly from the first to the second and then up to the star just above it.

THE SECRET WALL JUMP
-Pick “Bumble Beginnings.”
-Just before the first bee you meet, there is a swing. Make sure you gather a lot of momentum, then swing up to the right and do a well-timed spin
-Immediately after, wall jump off of the wall high above the bee and continue upward and above the nearby alcove for an easy hidden star.

Boulder Bowl Galaxy
ROCK AND ROLLODILLO
-Beat the three nearby enemies to free the Rock Mushroom. Spin to have Mario turn into a boulder and smash into things to break them.
-Head toward the Toad hitting the crystal with a pickax on your left.
-Hit the crystal twice while in rock mode to get a Comet Medal
-Ram into the red and gray wall to knock it down. Next, roll off the red and yellow ramp to get to the next area.
-Use your rock powers to roll over all of your enemies, but be careful not to break the fences and fall off the planet. If you happen to get injured, there is a rock mushroom on a platform, across from the checkpoint flag.
-Once the enemies are defeated, the cage will open to reveal a launch star.
-Make your way past the boulders and Chomps until you reach another Toad with a pickax. Ram into the rock he is mining to reveal a pipe.
-Use the pipe to get six chance dice. Once back on the other side, find the crystal with the sling star inside and ram it twice to break it.
-This will take you to a Luma shop where you can buy some health or extra lives if you need them. If not, simply proceed to the launch star that will take you to the boss.
-Grab the rock mushroom and roll into Rollodillo’s unprotected backside.
-After the first hit, he will curl up and try to roll into you. Dodge him a couple of times, and wait for him to uncurl, giving you the chance to strike.
-After hitting him twice, he will roll at you twice before stopping. After hitting him three times, he will roll at you three times before stopping.
-Once you have hit him for the fourth and final time, he will relinquish his star.

ROLLING CRABBER ROMP
-When a comet appears over Boulder Bowl Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-Defeat 30 Crabbers under 30 seconds to earn the star.
-There is a rock mushroom you can use to help destroy the Crabbers, but keep in mind that it is difficult to turn while in rock mode.

C’MERE, GOOMBA
-After you unlock the Mailtoad, Gearmo will send you a letter that requests your services in Boulder Bowl Galaxy. (Note: you can only attempt this star once you receive the letter.)
-Pick “Rock and Rollodillo.”
-Make your way over to the spherical planet with the boulders and Chomps.
-Talk to Gearmo who will ask you for a Goomba.
-Ram into the rocks in this area. One of them will have a Goomba inside. Once you find it, have it follow you back to Gearmo.
Once it walks between the markers, Gearmo will exchange a star for it.

Cosmic Cove Galaxy
TWIN FALLS HIDEAWAY
-You’ll be doing a lot of swimming in this galaxy. To make it easier, immediately grab the shell from the Koopa to the left.
-Continue along the underwater path until you reach a spiny puffer fish. Swim and get the “?” coin and follow the line of coins that it generates. Keep your eyes open for the Comet Medal tucked away inside a seashell.
-Head to the surface and move toward the castle-like object nearby and climb up.
-Ground pound the switch on the top to freeze all of the water.
-Skate over to the pair of now-frozen waterfalls and wall jump up them (perform a spin while standing on ice to begin skating).
-Once on top spin the crystal twice to release the star.

EXPLORING THE COSMIC CAVERN
-On this level the planet will start completely frozen.
-You will need to grab a key to free the Luma in the cage. Start by heading in the same
direction as last time.
-You should eventually find a pipe. Jump down it and ground pound the blocks to
reach a 2-dimensional swimming section.
-Start by heading up the ramp, making sure to avoid the bubbles. (If you happen to hit a bubble, it will take you all the way back down the ramp.)
-Wall jump up and dive into the water. Grab bubbles and coins to replenish your air while underwater.
-Head down, then right and spin the switch to open the door.
-Continue downward, being careful of the eels in this area. Head down the pipe at the very bottom.
-Head up and watch out for the mines as you make your ascent.
-At the top, hop on the platform with a penguin and make your way across on the moving water boxes.
-At the end of this area, grab the key and head down the pipe.
-Talk to the Luma that you have just rescued and he will transform into a launch
star.
-Once you’ve landed on the Starshroom, use the nearby launch star to move onto the
spherical planet with a ring around the middle.
-Grab the spin drill and dig through the various dirt spots until you find one that exits on the other side of the planet.
-Defeat the enemies in this area by ground pounding or drilling them. One of them will have a key and once you find it, drill into the area that you have unlocked and the planet will fill up with water.
Once this occurs the star will be easy to get to.

CATCH THAT STAR BUNNY
-Pick “Twin Falls Hideaway.”
-Collect 15 coins before wall jumping up the waterfalls.
-Get the “?” coin underwater, near the cave with the puffer fish in it. There are also plenty of coins on the surface of the water after you freeze the water.
-After you have 15, talk to the Luma near the castle and give him the coins.
-Use the launch star that appears here.
-On this planet, make your way around the holes and talk to the star bunny nearby.
-In order to catch him, ground pound one of the nearby switches to freeze the water, then skate to catch him.
-Get close to him and spin to catch him. Once you do so, he will give you a star.

Bowser’s Lava Lair
BOWSER’S BIG LAVA POWER PARTY
-Walk forward and spin the Magikoopa to make the pull star. Move your cursor over the blue star and hold A to move across to the next area.
-Cross the next planet using the moving platforms. Be careful of the fireballs that jump in and out of the lava.
-Once you reach the other side, ground pound the spring to reach the next
planet. You can backflip over the spinning fireballs here, but make sure you find the floating life mushroom before you cross because you will need it later.
-Move across the next set of platforms and break the launch star out of the crystal to move on.
-Once again, cross the platforms — these ones will shake before they flip over. Time your jumps wisely.
-Grab the 1-up mushroom if you want, then continue forward to fight a Hammer Bro. Dodge his hammers, then spin him twice to destroy him.
-Use the sling star to get to a platform with some fire rods. Grab the “?” coin on the pillar if you need some coins.
-Ground pound the nearby switch and continue forward to find more flipping platforms. Cross the platforms and make your way over toward the green path with the two Whomps.
-For the first one, wait for him to fall down, then perform a ground pound on his back to obtain SBs.
-For the next one, wait for him to fall down, then stand on his back and wait for him to stand back up. Just as you’re about to fall, jump out and grab the Comet Medal.
-Continue to the right and jump toward the gold meteorite to get pulled toward it. Ground pound the burst icon to break down the door.
-Jump into the purple force field to get pulled to the next area.
-Make your way across the green path, being careful not to fall in the holes left by the skulls as they eat at the platform.
-Once you are through, jump onto the purple platform. Make sure you stay in the middle of the moving platform so you don’t fall off the back.
-The platform will come to a life mushroom very soon after it starts if you need it.
-Jump off the platform when you reach the next area.
-This area is the same, but the platform is smaller. Jump over the laser beams that the statues shoot out as you make your way across.
-Spin and defeat the two Hammer Bros. waiting for you on the other side.
-Continue forward. Before you go to the meteorite, grab another life mushroom to the left of the flagpole.
-Ground pound meteorites into the three Bowser faces on the door. You will be sucked into a void once you are done.
-Time for Bowser! Three meteorites will fall on the planet you are on, but they will be easy to spot, because a glowing circle will indicate where they will land.
-The larger glowing circle will indicate where Bowser will punch the planet. Do a series of long jumps to avoid being in the circle when his fist comes down.
-He will get stuck, during which time you should jump up and ground pound one of the now-floating meteorites at him. Make sure you aim your ground pounds or they will miss him.
-After you do this twice, he will add flame breath to the mix. Just keep moving, and you should have no problem dodging this.
-After two more hits with ground pounds, you will yield a Grand Star and can head to World 3.

LAVA LAIR SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Bowser’s Lava Lair, return for a comet challenge.
-Get ready to move because the timer will start off with only 30 seconds on the clock.
-Most of the clocks are easier to find and out in the open along the path.
-If you feel like you have time, once you reach the cylindrical planet with the moving platforms there will be a life mushroom in the same place it was before.
-At the spot where the Toad Brigade used to be, there will be a clock to the right of the first
set of flipping platforms.
-On the next planet, there is a clock above the pillar with the fire rods coming out of it. Perform a backflip onto the pillar to get to the top.
-Jump over the electric fence to the left of the first Thwomp for another clock.
-After you get past the Bowser statues that shoot lasers, the star will be right in front of you.

World 3

Cloudy Court Galaxy
HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
-Grab the cloud flower in front of you. Move forward and collect the cloud flowers as needed.
-Once you reach the platform at the end, the Whittle will hint that you should make a cloud in the wind current. Follow his instructions to float across to the next platform.
-Jump up these bouncy drum platforms to get to the top. Use them and your cloud platforms to get up to the cymbal-like platform.
-Ground pound the middle of the cymbal for a bunch of SBs. Use the launch star when you are done.
-Make a platform above the grated air current in the middle of the area. Avoid getting
squashed by the platforms that are sticking out of the wall and jump on top.
-There is a teleporter up here and to the right if you want to use it.
-When you are ready, ground pound the springs and create a cloud platform in the wind current.
-Once on the other side, use the launch star.
-Grab another cloud flower and continue to the right.
-Create a cloud platform in the air current. As you ascend, watch out for the spiky fruit.
-Next, you will need to jump down into the air current before you make the platform.
-Make your way to the right and don’t worry about wasting clouds; there is a cloud flower at the top of the wall just ahead.
-You will come to an area with an upward air current, and two walls that close in on each
other. Time your cloud platform so that you don’t get crushed.
-About halfway up, jump toward the small alcove in the right wall to grab the Comet Medal.
-Wait for the walls to come together, then quickly get the cloud flower on your left and continue up the air current to the top.
-Upon reaching the top of the wall, grab the cloud flower on the right and use
cloud platforms to grab the star up above.

THE SHADOW LINING
-When a comet appears over Cloudy Court Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-This challenge is pretty simple: fallow the platforms that zoom in from around the area when you get close enough to where they should be.
-Start off here to the right and obtain the five star chips as you make your way across the blue platform.
-Avoid the Cosmic Clones. After you have all five star chips, use the launch star to go to the next area.
-Use the platforms to wall jump up to the top, then run right.
-Keep moving and wall jump up to the sling star, before continuing right to another sling star.
-Move toward the big crystal, spin and get the star.

SILVER STARS IN THE PURPLE POND
-Pick “Head in the Clouds.”
-Make sure you have 30 coins by the time you get to the wall with the air current.
-Get coins from the “?” coin in the first area and the “?” coin on the drum platform.
-It’s okay to go farther than the Luma to get your 30 coins because you can always just jump back down.
-Once you have 30, give them to the Luma and use the launch star.
-You will get a cloud star when you land and there will also one on the left side of the
area. Be careful not to touch the purple surface of this planet or you will die!
-Grab all five silver stars without falling into the purple goo or losing your cloud mushroom (you will fall through the platforms if you don’t
have cloud abilities).
-Head to the right first, using as few cloud platforms as possible and utilizing the long jump.
-Unfortunately, Cosmic Clones will appear with each silver star that you collect, so try not to retrace your steps.
-Move counter-clockwise and once you have 4 silver stars, you
will need at least two cloud platforms to go down and slightly left.
-You will find the cloud flower that you saw at the beginning of the area.
-Head back to the right, then down to find the path to the last silver star.
-The star will then appear where you started at the beginning of this area.

Freezy Flake Galaxy
BOWSER ON ICE
-Use the fire flower to melt the Goomba snow statue on the underside of the planet to reveal a launch star.
-Grab the nearby fire flower and quickly bake your way over to the large Bowser stature, down and to the left. Hit it with three fireballs to destroy it and then walk through the hole and down the slide.
-Get another fire flower and use it to destroy the ice bricks. If you walk to the back of this structure and destroy the ones there, you will eventually find a Comet Medal.
-If look around the structure, you will see a pipe sticking out of the ground. Get on top of the structure and destroy ice bricks where necessary to get to the entrance of the pipe.
-In this area, roll the snowballs to get from platform to platform. The snowballs will leave a trial of ice for you to safely cross.
Use the snowballs you have to go clockwise around this area and grab a fire flower at the end.
-Melt the Bowser statue in the middle with three fireballs and then grab the newly revealed star.

SORBETTI’S CHILLY RECEPTION
-The first thing you’ll notice is that the fire flower at the beginning of this stage has been replaced with a rock mushroom.
-Use the rock mushroom to roll around and break the Goomba statue on the underside of the planet to reveal a launch star.
-In order to find the star chips in this area, head down the slope and grab the rock mushroom if you need it.
-Use your rock powers to destroy trees and statues to reveal the star chips.
-They are hidden inside the Goomba statues and crystals in this area, as well as in the Goomba statue back at the top of the hill and the tree next to the star bunny.
-After you receive the launch star, take it to the next area.
-It’s kinda hard to see in this area, but slowly make your way right and you should eventually come to a slope with a star bunny next to it.
-Run down to find a Luma shop and buy something if you want, then use the launch star.
-After you use the sling star on this planet, you’ll be face-to-face with the creepy looking Sorbetti.
-Dodge his roll attacks and time a spin to hit his big red nose.
-After you hit him twice, he’ll get upset and begin to roll faster. Spin the pillars of ice for coins to give you extra life, then time one more spin to his nose and earn yourself another star.

THE CHIMP’S SKATING CHALLENGE
-Select “Bowser on Ice.”
-Make your way over to the area with the first Bowser statue. Before you head down the slope, grab the fire flower and melt the tree directly on the left of the Bowser statue.
-Go down the pipe that was hiding there and listen to The Chimp’s challenge.
-Get 500 points in 60 seconds by skating into the gold and green blobs of goo (green ones are worth 10 gold ones are worth 50).
-Simply run into the first one you see, then you’ll begin to skate. Don’t hit the spiky purple one or you will get knocked down.
-Get at least 500 points and you’ll be awarded a star.

Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy
SILVER CHOMP GRUDGE MATCH
-Walk to the Star Ball and follow the on-screen instructions. After you learn the controls, move the ball into the yellow hole to shoot yourself to the next area.

-Roll to the green section to find a key on the ground to unlock the cage on the red part. Jump into the hole when you have unlocked it.
-In the next area, platforms will zoom in from around the area when you get close enough. Maneuver the ball toward the yellow, blue and green platform, then jump on.
-As the platform moves up, jump on the annoying Goombas so that they don’t cause you to fall off.
-At the top, turn all of the blue switches yellow, then cross the bridge and fall into the hole.
-Hit the checkpoint flag, before quickly rolling toward the right side of the wooden platform. Roll past the the first saw, grab the Comet Medal and roll forward before the piece of wood gets cut out from under you.
-Continue forward, keeping in mind that the saws will cut off pieces of the platform if you are too slow.
-Roll down the ramp and drop onto the platform with the Silver Chomp.
-Roll towards him to knock him off the platform with the ball.
-Cross the newly formed bridge and roll the ball into the pink hole. After the star pops out of the ball just climb up the pole to grab it.

MASTERPIECE SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy, return for a Comet
Challenge.
-You will have two minutes to get to the end of the stage before time runs out.
-While the level is mostly the same look out for some differences: on the multi-colored planet, the key is in the blue section instead of the green section this time around.
-Also, after the elevator, you will go to a green platform with holes in it instead of the
wooden one with saws (stay away from the Bob-ombs).
-After this, knock off the Silver Chomp, cross the pathway and climb the pole to get the star.

Tall Trunk Galaxy
THE FLOTACIOUS BLIMP FRUIT
-Run around to the other side of the planet to find a Yoshi egg. After you bust Yoshi out, run back around to the giant tree.
-Use the teleporter if you want, then have Yoshi eat the blimp fruit.
-Use the blimp fruit to make your way up the tree (While floating, you can hold A to hold Yoshi’s breath).
At the top, there is a life mushroom and a launch star. Grab the mushroom if you can get high enough, then use the launch star.
-You will land on a cylindrical tree-trunk planet. Use the blimp fruit you see here to get
on the moving platforms above you.
-Jump in the pipe on the left if you need some lives. After that, make your way to the blimp fruit on the right.
-As you float up, you’ll notice an easy Comet Medal to the left.
-Once you’ve grabbed it, use the same blimp fruit to go up the passage to the right.
-Grab the blimp fruit in midair to refill your air gauge and continue upward.
-Once you get to the area with star chips, use the various blimp fruits where available to navigate around the planet to collect all five star chips. Don’t worry about falling; the gravity in this area is circular.
-Once you collect all five, a launch star will appear in an alcove. Use the blimp fruit to get to it.
-Get the checkpoint and fall down to your right.
-When you land, grab the blimp fruit and begin your ascent, being wary of spiky plants and flying Goombas.
-Grab the blimp fruit as you see them and continue upward to your star.

TALL TRUNK’S BIG SLIDE
-Use the swings to ascend the tree to the launch star near the top.
-Take the steps up and head down the slide on your left.
-Watch out for spiky fruit, Spinies and Wigglers on the way down. Jumping will help you elude enemies, as well as slow you down.
-When you see the lines of spiky fruit, try to maneuver to the open space instead of jumping.
-When you reach the bottom, talk to the triangular Whittle to get a star.

TALL TRUNK’S PURPLE COIN SLIDE
-Collect 100 purple coins down the big slide. This is tricky, but there are a total of 140 coins in play, so if you miss some, don’t worry.
-If you mastered “Tall Trunk’s Big Slide,” then this shouldn’t be too hard, but it’s a good idea to load up on lives before you attempt this challenge.
Make it down the slide with your 100 purple coins and you will earn a star.

Haunty Halls Galaxy
A GLIMMER OF BULB BERRY
-Dodge the ghosts as you start out along the moving path. There is a teleporter at the end, then the launch star.
-Out of the left wall you’ll see the path appear and then disappear into
the right wall. Obviously, you need to stay on the path at all times.
-Make it across and hit the checkpoint flag.
-Once to the next area, the platform moves from right to left.
-The green platform is a little trickier and moves faster. Always take the paths that move forward or right.
-When at the end of the stairs on the red platform, wait for another platform to come out of the left wall and jump onto it.
-Before you jump into the pipe, use the U-shaped path to get to a Comet Medal.
-Go down the pipe and grab the Yoshi on the other side. Have Yoshi eat the Bulb Berry to reveal nearby invisible paths. Make sure you move slowly, yet deliberately, as this power will wear off after a short time. The area that you can stand on will begin to shrink when you are almost out of time, and the line will start to turn green.
-Head right when the path is lit up and grab a fresh bulb berry from the other side.
-Look down and you will see a key. Grab it to open the door to the next area.
-Continue up the stairs, jump across the gap and then head down through the door (always grab bulb berries when you see them).
-You will come to a dead end, but jump over a gap to your right to land on another platform.
-Jump onto the bookshelves and use the flower to swing yourself to the star.

SNEAKING DOWN THE CREEPY CORRIDOR
-Start off the same way but when you reach the signpost, a bunch of Boos will appear
behind you.
-Look at the Boos to cause them to freeze. Make your way to the shrinking platform.
-Be careful of the green panels as they will begin to disappear after you step on them. Use the launch star once you reach it.
-Look at Boos to keep them in their place and cross the moving platforms to the end.
-Move past the skull toward the sling star.
-Avoid the skulls on this new platform and face the Boos who will be following you.
-Continue to the next moving platform, making sure to stay in middle.
-When you see the Boos, jump onto the moving platforms and grab the star at the end before the platforms shrink.

SPOOKY COSMIC CLONE CHASE
-When a comet appears over Haunty Halls Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-Beat the second part of “Sneaking Down the Creepy Corridor,” but beware of some annoying Cosmic Clones.
-Always keep moving to avoid them.
-Quickly break the star out of the crystal at the end of the stage.

Beat Block Galaxy
STEP TO THE BEEP
-Even if you’re not rhythmically gifted, simply listen for a series of three beeps to indicate when the green and yellow blocks will switch and either appear or disappear.
-Make sure to use spins while in mid-air to give yourself extra time in between jumps.
-Also, know that you will have different sets of enemies on the blocks.
-Grab the Comet Medal that is located right along the path you have to take, making sure to wait for the yellow blocks to turn solid.
-Head right until you reach the checkpoint. Collect the five silver stars on the pyramid. There are two on the left side, two on the right and one in the middle.
-Once you have all five, the star will appear on the top of the pyramid and the platforms will stop changing.

SILVER STARS IN DOUBLE TIME
-This time around the platforms will switch four times as often as before.
-The layout of the stage is exactly the same but luckily, there are no enemies to worry about this time around.
-Also, there is a Yoshi egg in the second crystal you will find along the path. Use his flutter jumps to keep you airborne long enough to land on the same color as you jumped off.
-Just like before, collect all 5 silver stars and then grab the star at the top of the pyramid.

Bowser Jr.’s Fearsome Fleet
BOWSER JR.’S MIGHTY MEGAHAMMER
-Walk across the pair of disappearing platforms (stay off of them when they flash blue).

-Stay away from the purple enemies when they turn yellow. Continue to the right and free Yoshi from the egg.

-Lock on and grab a Bullet Bill with Yoshi’s tongue, then spit it at the glass casing in the background before the Bill explodes in his mouth. You can also eat the purple enemies, but only while they’re purple.
-After some more disappearing platforms and purple enemies, spin the switch to make the yellow platform move.
-Jump on the platform and it will carry you across. Eat the Bullet Bills coming towards you and then spit them out to destroy them. You can also eat them and spit them back out at the cannons so that you will have fewer to deal with.
-Once you reach the end, hit the switch to cause the next yellow platform to move forward.
-Eat another Bill and shoot it at the glass casing before the platform gets there. Then use the sling star before you get sucked into the black hole.
-In this next area, you can use the Bullet Bills to defeat the Hammer Bro and also to break the Bowser Jr. statue for a 1-up mushroom.
-Use the flowers to swing to the other side of the platform, then use another Bill to break the glass casing holding the switch.
-After you hit it jump on the yellow platform. Airships will come out of black holes to the left after the platform starts moving. Jump onto the deck, cross and jump back on the yellow platform on the other side. Grab the life mushroom along the way.
-On the left side of the deck of the second airship there will be a Comet Medal. Don’t worry if you miss your platform, another one will follow shortly.
-Break the glass ahead with a Bullet Bill. Buy something from the Luma shop if you want, get the checkpoint flag and then use the launch star to go face off against Bowser Jr.
-If you need Yoshi, bust him out near the closest egg. Wait for Bowser Jr.’s huge robot to shoot some Bullet Bills towards you, grab them with Yoshi’s tongue and fire them towards…well, towards the robot’s big blue boobs.
-Once you have hit the two blue circles twice each, look for a sling star, but before you use it, grab a Bullet Bill. (Be careful, because by now, the robot may try to use the hammers to send out a red shock-wave. Just jump over this to avoid it.)
-With the bill in Yoshi’s mouth, sling across to the other side and fire it into the blue glass casing on the robot’s back.
-After he turns back around, repeat this process one more time.
-Like the other bosses, Bowser Jr. will get angry. He’ll fire two Bullet Bills at you; eat and discard the first one, then eat and hold on to the second one
-The robot will then perform a dual hammer attack. Jump and hold A so that Yoshi flutters over the shock-waves. Then aim in the direction of Bowser Jr. and fire the Bill.
-You’ll have to hit him one more time to put destroy the Megahammer for good.
-Sling star one more time and use it to grab the Grand Star and unlock World 4.

MEGAHAMMER’S DAREDEVIL BASH
-When a comet appears over Bowser Jr.’s Fearsome Fleet, return for a comet
challenge.
-Just like with the “Spin-Dig” Comet Challenge, here you will have to defeat Megahammer without taking any damage.
-And again, the boss fight is the same, so the strategy is the same, you just need to be more careful.
-Rely on Yoshi’s flutter jump to avoid the shockwaves and feel free to use the sling star to give yourself time and space to plan your moves.
-Defeat Megahammer again and get another star.

World 4

Supermassive Galaxy
Huge Trouble with Big Wigglers
-You’ll notice that everything in this world is bigger! Don’t be intimidated; head toward the giant Goomba and spin it, then kick it to destroy it.
-On the right side of this platform is a gap; long jump across it for an easy Comet Medal.
-Once you have it, head toward the gigantic coin. Use the coin and the “?” block as wall jump surfaces to get on top of the block.
-Jump across the pipes to the left, being careful of the piranha plant.
-As you head right, quickly move under the first Thwomp, stand in the little space of light so that you won’t get smashed, then run under the second one.
-Wall jump off of the back of this Thwomp to get into the launch star.
-Follow the Koopas around until you get the spin drill. Time three separate spins so that you hit the Koopas standing on the other side.
-After you get all three, a launch star will appear.
-Cross the giant star chips, spinning the Paragoomba on the way. Cross the giant pipes, and continue right.
-Make sure that you aren’t on a flashing platform in the middle column as you make your way across and use the launch star at the end.
-The launch star will send you into another launch star to use.
-On this cylindrical planet, you will need to follow the paths of the Wigglers to find a route toward the star.
-Do a long jump across the first gap to get the 1-up.
-Follow in the direction of the Wigglers over the next two areas.
-The last section has red Wigglers, who move much faster. Run between them and long jump to the pole when you reach the ring. The star will be waiting for you at the top.

BIG WIGGLERS SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Supermassive Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-You will get 2 minutes and 30 seconds to complete this stage.
-The stage is exactly the same, so just move quickly. If you get to the last planet (the one with the Wigglers) with around 30 seconds, then you should have plenty of time.
-Remember to long jump straight to the pole at the end of the stage, then grab the star on top.

IN FULL BLOOM
-Pick “Huge Trouble with Big Wigglers.”
-Go to the area with the gigantic star chips and use the launch star to get to the small planet with another launch star.
-Instead of using this launch star, run around on the surface of the
planet. As you do so, patches of flowers will grow wherever you walk.
-Cover the entire surface of the planet with flowers and wait for a vine will grow out of
the planet. Spin up the vine for a hidden star.

Flipsville Galaxy
FLIP-FLOPPING IN FLIPSVILLE
-This galaxy is unique. Every time you ground pound one of the circular grates, you will flip to the other side and the direction of gravity will change. You will notice that the background has arrows on it to indicate which way gravity is going.
-Start by going to the left and ground pound the circular grate on the ground. This will taking some getting used to with your left hand. Continue flipping counter-clockwise through this area.
-In the top section of the building (gravity pointing downward) there is one corner with three grates in it. Ground pound the the middle one and get the Comet Medal on the other side.
-Once back on top, flip though the right-most grate, fall up the hole and flip through the grate at the top to find a launch star to take you to the next area.
-Watch out for all of the Chomps in this area as you make your way across.
-Once you reach the hole with the life mushroom, grab it and get out quickly before two Chomps converge on top of you. Then continue through the grate on the right.
-Immediately run right, because a Chomp will spawn right next to you. Two of them will crash into each other; wait for this to happen before continuing right. Use the launch star at the far right.
-In the next area, flip through the far grate, then climb the stairs to reach a moving platform with a grate on it.
-Flip to the top of the first grate, then jump onto the second one. Flip through to the bottom of the third to avoid the spike traps.
-Carefully time your flip on the fourth so that you don’t hit the spikes.
-Once you’re done with that, flip through the grate at the end. Flip back up and use the launch star on the top of the platform.
-If needed, grab something from the Luma shop, then continue on to the boss.
-Flip the grate directly underneath the pink, sleeping beast to wake it up. Use the metal grates to quickly get between both sides as you will need to ground pound her stomach three more times.
-Once you flip through a grate, make sure to move quickly or you’ll get burned by her giant fireballs.
-Watcher her shadow to guess where shill will go. She’ll follow you closely, so try to trick her into standing over one of the grates.
-After the second hit, she’ll get upset and move begin to move faster and spit more fireballs. One more hit on her stomach and you get another star.

FLIPSVILLE’S NEW DIGS
-For this stage, most of the grates have been replaced with dig spots. Grab the
nearby spin drill and start of by going counter-clockwise around the building.
-Head back up through the hole in the bottom of the building. Use the launch star near the Toad Brigade captain below.
-Here, grab a spin drill and drill anywhere. Then, drill through the near-left side of the pillar, then the near-right side, then the far-left side.
-Jump into the pipe when you are done.
-In the next area, the gravity will constantly change to the beat of the music.
-Grab the drill. Drill right and get the silver star. Keep drilling right, then up,
then up, right, left, left, down.
-You should now have all five silver stars and all you have to do is drill to the right to get the star.

PURPLE COIN SPIN SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over “Flipsville Galaxy,” return for a comet challenge.
-Nab 100 purple coins in under two minutes to earn a star.
-Just follow the same path as before and remember to use gravity to your advantage.

Starshine Beach
SURF, SAND, AND SILVER STARS
-Jump in the water,  swim to the other side of the planet, and use the underwater launch star.
-Here, you will need to find 5 silver stars. Grab the Yoshi to the left and keep moving forward.
-Get the first silver star at the top of the hill at the beginning. Use a Spiny or a Crabber as ammo to break the glass casing.
-Head toward the giant Pianta statue and use the flowers to swing yourself to the silver star at the top.
-Facing the same way as the statue, the next silver star is on your right.
-Next, grab a Crabber and break the nearby glass casing with the blimp fruit inside of it.
-Use the blimp fruit to get on top of the pillar for your third silver star.
-Look around until you see a deep area with a large yellow
and white structure coming out of it. Head toward the left side of it.
-Walk in between the pipe and the palm tree toward the small crater to the left of the structure.
-Dismount Yoshi and dive into the crater. Carefully swim between the two large eels and grab the Comet Medal.
-Turn back around and once you reach the surface, grab another Yoshi on the island with the palm tree.
-Swim toward the structure and get the silver star floating in the water.
-In this same area, there is an extremely large buoy that has been capsized in the water.
-Jump on the surface sticking out of the water and allow your weight to put the buoy right side up.
-Once the bouncy pink part is up and facing the sky, jump on it to get the last silver star. The star will appear behind the Pianta statue.

CLIMBING THE CLOUDY TOWER
-Start off again by using the underwater launch star.
-Head toward the yellow and white structure. Dive all the way underwater and grab a bubble or two if you need some air.
-Go through the entrance at the bottom. Swim up the hole and use the sling star to shoot you all the way up.
-Ground pound the switch to make a cloud flower appear. Jump in front of the little bubble gun to ride in a bubble across to the cloud flower.
-Once you have it, be careful not to touch the water as you jump to one of the nearby leaf rafts. These will move in the direction of Mario’s weight, so simply point the joystick in the direction you want to move and head toward the tower.
-Jump onto one of the clouds circling the tower. Use backflips for some extra height and simply use your cloud platforms to get to the top. Backflips will be useful in conserving cloud platforms.
-Grab the cloud flower at the top and finish making you way up to the star.

PURPLE COIN BEACH DASH
-When a comet appears over “Starshine Beach Galaxy,” return for a comet challenge.
-Like most of the other Purple Coin Challenges, you need to get 100 purple coins in under 35 seconds.
-It is imperative that you use the dash pepper to move around quickly.
-There are 140 total coins, so don’t worry if you pass some up. Simply follow the path to collect your 100 and if you do so under the time constraints, the star will appear in middle area.

Chompworks
WHERE THE CHOMPS ARE MADE OF GOLD
-Head down the ramp and toward the blue platforms near the pink robot. Move quickly — these platforms will sink if you stand on them for too long.
-Cross the blue platforms and perform a backflip over one of the Chomps overhead to get the Comet Medal. There is a row of Chomps here, so time your backflip.
-Follow the Chomps left. Spin the switch over here to cause the Chomps to roll down the rail on the left.
-Head down the ramp. Move to the edge of the blue platform that the Chomps are smashing into to make the platform sink. This will cause the them to start rolling over it and into the hole.
-After one of the Chomps makes it in the hole, a launch star will appear.
-Use the platforms on the sides of the bridge so that you don’t get bitten by one of the Chomps.
-Continue forward when you can and use the launch star when you make it to the end.
-Make your way across the switchable blue and red platforms, then flip the switch on your left.
-As the Chomps start to appear, switch the platforms to blue, then make your way to the green see-saw.
-Step on the left side so that the Chomps can get onto the platform. Then, switch the platforms to red and jump off of the see-saw when a Chomp rolls by.
-Switch the platforms back to blue so that the Chomp will roll into the hole. After this a launch star will appear.
-Head to the area where the Chomps are coming from and stand on the blue and green platform to lower it.
-As soon as the Chomp rolls onto it, head to the platform just below it. Once the Chomp has rolled over this one, go to the switch and ground pound it just as the Chomp rolls onto the blue part of the platform.
-This action will raise the platform, causing the Chomp to roll into the hole and reveal a star.

SPRING INTO THE CHOMPWORKS
-Grab the spring mushroom at the bottom of the ramp.
-Head up the ramp on the left, and use the launch star at the top.
-Use the spring mushroom to jump over the Chomps and get to the other side of the bridge.
-At the end of the bridge, jump onto the block where the Chomps are pouring out of. Do the same thing again on the smaller bridge to reach a launch star.
-Take your time making your jumps from platform to platform with the spring mushroom and once you get to the top, grab your star.

COSMIC CLONES IN THE CHOMPWORKS
-When a comet appears over “Chompworks Galaxy,” return for a comet challenge.
-Cosmic Clones will make this challenge difficult as you complete the last area of “Where the Chomps Are Made of Gold.” But remember, they imitate you: if you move slowly, so will they.

-Make sure to constantly be moving as you lower the platforms for the Chomp to cross. As soon as you get the Chomp into the hole, the Cosmic Clones will be defeated, and you will have another star.

Sweet Mystery Galaxy
BULB BERRY’S MYSTERIOUS GLOW
-Grab the Yoshi and head straight along the path.
-Grab the bulb berry and continue forward along the invisible path that appears. After
hitting the checkpoint flag, refresh your bulb berry and cautiously head along the new path.
-Just before the last turn into the solid platform, jump along the platforms on your left to where you will eventually reach a Comet Medal.
-Quickly jump back and make your way to the solid platform. Grab the bulb berry here and continue along the invisible path to the left.
-Jump across the moving platforms, then the shrinking platforms. On the other side, grab another bulb berry and continue forward along the invisible platform.
-On the next solid platform, swing yourself up using the flowers to get another bulb berry.
-Continue along until you reach another checkpoint flag.
-Grab the nearby bulb berry, hit the blue switch and continue counter-clockwise along the invisible path.
-After hitting the second switch, jump across the shrinking platforms to the third switch. -From here, grab another bulb berry and continue counter-clockwise along the invisible
platforms.
-Use the stationary platforms on your left and make your way to the fourth switch. Once you hit it, a launch star will appear in the middle. Another bulb berry will help get you to it.
-Grab the bulb berry in the next area and climb to the top of the cake for a star.

BULB BERRY’S PURPLE COIN GLOW
-When a comet appears over “Sweet Mystery Galaxy,” return for a comet challenge.
-Gather 100 purple coins that are scattered around the level.
-This may sound hard, but the coins actually reveal where the invisible platforms are.
-Get the 100 coins to earn another star.

Honeyhop Galaxy
THE SWEETEST SILVER STARS
-Go into the niche straight ahead and grab the bee mushroom.
-Fly up to the right and jump onto the honeycombs. With the bee power, Mario will stick to it and can move around freely between them.
-Once to the top, proceed to fly up to the swing. Jump off to the right, but try not to land in the lake.
-Keep close to the wall and continue to the right. As you carefully make your way past the fountain, spin up the large flower to the right to have it launch you, then swing to the left.
-Climb up the honeycomb wall as you continue right and fly over the bubbles.
-At the end of the ramp, fly up to another ramp, then up once again to reach the next area.
-Spin the flower on the cloud here to get “floaty fluff” and grab onto it to fly to the next platform.
-Grab the life mushroom near the rotating flower platform. Head toward the bee on a green platform.
-Continue in that direction onto a lily pad. Fly up and grab the silver star on the flower platform overhead.
-Head back toward the bee and get the silver star above the fountains in this area.
-After you carefully avoid the fountain water to get it, continue flying right to another flower. Let it launch you to the next platform.
-Move toward the sleeping bee, back around the right side of this platform, where there will be a silver star down below and a Comet Medal up above. Grab them both by flying, then continue back around to the left.
-Grab the silver star in midair, watching out for the bubble launchers. Keep going left toward another lake.
-Get another bee mushroom if you need it before you jump onto the large flower platform. Fly up to the right and jump onto the swing.
-Swing to the left and land on the platform. Fly over to the queen bee and jump onto her back, where you will climb up it to get the last silver star.
-Grab the star that will appear in the middle of this area.

THE CHIMP’S SCORE CHALLENGE
-Once you unlock the Mailtoad, The Chimp will send you a letter, challenging you
to a minigame in Honeyhop Galaxy. This is another challenge where you must receive the letter before you can attempt it.
-Get 10,000 points in under 2 minutes.
-Earn easy points behind the sling star in the beginning and at the very top where there are several groups enemies as well as a “?” coin that is worth over 1,000 points.
-Collet 10,000 points before the timer runs out an earn a star.

Bowser’s Gravity Gauntlet
BREAKING INTO BOWSER’S CASTLE
-Dodge the fire rods as you head down the path.
-Grab the life mushroom near the small post with four large fire rods.
-Continue over the moving platform, then around to the right.
-Hit the checkpoint flag and then jump onto the block above, where a Comet Medal will be waiting. If you happen to accidentally break the block, you should still be able to get the Medal with a backflip and a spin.
-Continue right and follow the path as it leads up and then back to the left.
-Once the path winds to the right again, jump into the water above you. Keep swimming to the right and at the end of this area, you will be back in three dimensions.
-Head down along the path as it will eventually turn left and then wind downward.
-After the second Goomba, jump downward so that the gravity will pull you in toward the floor.
-Follow the fire rods around clockwise and jump at the trail of coins. Repeat this step as you make your way down the platform, then use the launch star.
-Spin the far right crystal in this area to get a life mushroom, then break the big door with the meteors.
-This fight is similar to the last time you fought Bowser, except this time, Bowser has added shockwaves to his punches.
-The strategy is the same: ground pound the meteorites toward Bowser to defeat him. Get a total of four hits to earn a Grand Star and unlock World 5.

GRAVITY STAR SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Bowser’s Gravity Gauntlet, return for a comet challenge.
-This is another speed run in Bowser’s castle, and you will need to collect clocks to add time to the timer.
-Right at the beginning, there is a clock on the wooden platform on the left
-The life mushroom is still around the four fire rods. After you get it, make your way to the two-dimensional section where there is a clock above the first block (where the comet medal was the first time).
-Back in the 3-D section, there is another clock on the left side of the section with the Whomps.
-Move counter-clockwise on the platform with fire rods to get another clock.
-Make your way onto the next platform, run clockwise, then do a wall jump and get the star before the timer runs out.

World 5

Space Storm Galaxy
FOLLOW ME, BOB-OMB
-Point your cursor toward the blue stars and hit A to pull yourself toward them. Pull yourself toward the planet with the electric traps, then toward the launch star.
-Once on the cylindrical area, jump down through the passageway and continue onto the moving platforms on the right.
-Be careful to jump over the electric fences as you fall to lower platforms, and continue to head to the right on the bottom area.
-You should see a Comet Medal. Perform a long jump from the final rotating platform to get it without taking damage. Then, use the launch star to the far right.
-Once in this area, have a Bob-omb follow you along the path on the inside of the planet and break the glass case around the life mushroom.
-Jump into the hole, grab the life mushroom, and make your way to the launch star.
-Make your way past the Topmen (spinning them if you choose) and then spin a Bob-omb.
-Continue forward and to the left. Use the pull stars here to avoid the electric traps, and make your way to the left to grab the star.

TO THE TOP OF TOPMAN’S TOWER
-Ground pound the switch nearby to slow everything down momentarily. Then, use the blue stars to get to the first launch star.
-Make your way to the switch, carefully avoiding the bubbles. Hit it to slow
down the moving platforms.
-Spin the switch in the back-right corner to open a nearby gate, then head toward the next switch. Spin the next switch and head through the gate.
-Jump off of the purple enemy at the far side of this area. It will spring you up to a sling star.
-Slow down time with the switch to make it easily past the Thwomps, then get the green top enemy to follow you to the platform above you.
-Jump on him to spring up to the platform.
-Use the time-slow switches up here to slow down the moving platforms.
-Once you are up to the next area, spin the top enemies into the electric fences,
and a green top will appear. Spring off of it to get the star.

C’MERE, TOPMAN
-To receive this challenge, Gearmo will send you a letter by way of the Mailtoad, asking for help in Space Storm Galaxy.
-Pick “Follow Me, Bob-omb.”
-Once on the planet with the Topmen, head right past the glass casing (there is a 1-up inside, if you want) to go talk to Gearmo.
-He will ask you to bring him a red Topman. Head back toward the beginning of this area and get one of the red guys to follow you.
-Dodge Bob-ombs and the small yellow Topmen as you make your way back to Gearmo (you can defeat the yellow Topmen, but make sure not to accidentally kill the red one).
-Once you get the red guy between the posts, you will get a star.

Slipsand Galaxy
SQUIZZARD’S SANDY SINKHOLE
-Jump into the quicksand at the beginning of this level to move toward the next platform.
-Dodge fireballs and spiky fruit as you continue onward and when you reach the end, use the launch star.
-Once you get over the platform and past the area with metal blocks continue along the path, watching out for the bombs that the chicken enemy drops.
-Continue along the laid-out path and grab an easy Comet Medal before continuing to move right.
-Grab the fire flower here and use it to defeat the flower enemies. If you have some time left on the fire flower, light the two torches in this area for a 1-up mushroom. Then continue between the metal blocks, being sure not to get squashed.
-Jump on top of the second set of blocks, then jump onto the upper part of the path.
-Once you jump onto the metal block up here, get on the top of the building and use the launch star.
-Roll down the slide but make sure to avoid those happy-face stones things. Once you reach the bottom, look to the left for a Luma shop, then use the launch star to go to the boss.
-Once Squizzard pops out of the sinkhole, the fight is on. Grab a floating fire flower as you dodge the rocks that are being thrown at you.
-After throwing three rocks, throw a fireball into Squizzard’s open mouth. He will be dazed by this, so quickly throw a few more fireballs to score a hit.
-In his rage, Squizzard will now throw spiky balls as well as gold objects. Obviously, stay clear of the spiky balls, but if you hit the gold objects with a fireball, a coin will appear, which will provide you with health.
-Following another hit, Squizz will whip out two cannons. After you destroy these with fireballs, all you need is one more hit to finish him off and earn another star.

SAILING THE SANDY SEAS
-Use the moving platforms to cross the quicksand and jump into the pipe on the other side.
-Gravity plays a pivotal role in this area. Run up along the wall on the left, then fall down back around to the right.
-Run up the wall and you will land on a rotating square. Wait until gravity is pointing left, then run down off the square.
-Once you’ve taken the red pipe to the next area, use the moving platforms to get to the launch star on the other side.
-Jump on the sandy platform and it will start to move forward. (Note: if you fall in the quicksand here, you die!)
-Follow the trail of coins and watch out for the cacti and Magikoopas along the way.
-Guide the platform toward the Silver Chomp. Stay on one one side of the platform, then quickly jump over toward the other right before it tries to get you.
-Continue doing this maneuver back and forth until you eventually reach the star.

SQUIZZARD’S DAREDEVIL RUN
-When a comet appears over “Slipsand Galaxy,” return for a comet challenge.
-You will have to face off against Squizzard with only one health.
-The bombs are very hard to dodge; a long jump is your best bet. But be wary of the quicksand, because it will pull you toward Squizzard and if you touch him, you will lose a life.
-Defeat him again and earn another star.

Shiverburn Galaxy
PRINCE PIKANTE’S PEPPERY MOOD
-Hop onto the middle of the yellow platform and cross the lava.
-Grab the cloud flower on the right, then platform over to the life mushroom on the left. When the platform stops moving, grab the cloud flower on the left, then use cloud platforms to get to the switch in the distance.
-Once you hit it, and all the lava will turn into ice. Use the launch star up ahead and make sure you watch out for those shockwaves.
-Make your way across the set of moving platforms using a combination of long jumps and mid-air spins where necessary.
-Once you get to the end, spin a coconut at the treasure chest to get a 1-up mushroom.
-As you cross the final platforms, look for the Comet Medal floating out in the open above the lava. Stand on one of the platforms passing under it to collect it.
-Long jump toward the launch star to take yourself to the next area.
-Be careful of the lava puddles made by the falling meteors in this ice section.
-Spin the crystal along the path to get a life mushroom.
-Once you are at the end of the path a bunch of enemies in barrels will start spitting fireballs and coconuts at you.
-Jump and spin to hit the green coconut back at the enemies and once they are all destroyed, a path will open up.
-Here, the meteors that fall from the sky will create ice patches for you to cross over the lava toward the launch star.
-This will take you to a Starshroom where you can buy a mushroom from the shop if needed. Then, use the launch star and prepare for a battle with another boss.
-Dodge the fireballs from Prince Pekante’s tank. When he fires a coconut from his mouth, spin to fire it back and hit him.
-On the second hit, he will fire all of the fireballs and coconuts into the air. Find a falling coconut and spin it.
-Get one more hit on him and the star is yours.

OCTO-ARMY ICY RAINBOW ROMP
-When a comet appears over Shiverburn Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-You have 50 seconds to take out 30 Octos on an icy platform.
-There are two rainbow stars to aid you in this challenge (one in the middle and one on either side of the platform).
-Once you have defeated all 30 within the allotted time, the star will appear in the middle.

THE CHIMP’S ULTIMATE SKATING CHALLENGE
-Head down the pipe at the end of the first area.
-This is just like “The Chimp’s Skating Challenge” in Freezy Flake Galaxy, except you will have to get 600 points.
-Spinning will give you a speed boost once you start skating. Get 600 point before the timer runs out and get a star.

Boo Moon Galaxy
SILVER STARS POP-UP
-Carefully begin by navigating through the dark maze, watching out for Boos along the way. Use the launch star when you reach it.
-You will be brought to large poison swamp. Use the purple moving platform to make your way across.
-Make your way across to three more moving paths; the third one will take you to a ramp.
-The platform will run into the ramp. Wait on the ramp and step onto it when it re-emerges.
-The path will now come in contact with a Comet Medal. Use the launch star once you’ve grabbed it.
-Collect all five star chips without tipping the see-saw moon over and a launch star will appear.
-Get the first two silver stars that you see (one in the middle and one near the right corner).
-Next, hit the switch to cause the the platform to pop up, revealing a bunch of walls.
-Make your way up these walls to get the last three silver stars.
-Collect them all and the star will appear on the ground.

HAUNTING THE HOWLING TOWER
-Starting off in the same dark maze, there are some coins that will help guide you toward a pipe.
-Once you’ve jumped through the pipe and made it to the other side, grab the Boo Mushroom. With this power, spin to move through objects and press A to float.
-Float through the wall on the right and continue up and to the left, moving through the wall at the end.
-Continue to follow the path. Make sure to avoid enemies as you go and there will be a star is waiting for you at the top of the building at the end of this area.

THE STAR IN THE SINKING SWAMP
-Once you’ve picked “Silver Stars Pop-Up,” make your way to the end of the poison swamp section, but do not use the launch star.
-Instead, long jump to another purple moving path past the launch star.
-This path is very fast! Stay on it and it will take you to a star.

Upside Dizzy Galaxy”>
A WALK ON THE WEIRD SIDE
-More gravity fun here. (Remember to pay attention to the direction of the arrows that indicate the flow of gravity.
-Head up and to the right, using the different directions of gravity to make your ascent.
-When you get to the blocks, jump on them to get to the moving-up-gravity areas, grabbing the life mushroom in the process.
-Once you’re up top, just jump to the area on the left to go up.
-Here, ground pound the switch to switch the flow of gravity. Get to the pipe before it switches back.
-Listen for the music as cues to when the gravity will switch back and forth in this next section.
-Once you get to the moving platforms, you will see a Comet Medal.
-Go from the bottom platform to the top platform, then wait for gravity to be pointing down. Get on the bottom platform and ride it to the medal.
-Continue to the right and then up. Wait for the gravity under the star to flip to pink.
-Jump and spin to the right to clear the electric fence as you “fall upwards” towards the star.

BURNING UPSIDE DIZZY
-Pick “A Walk on the Weird Side.”
-Head toward the green pipe in the very first section.
-Once in this area, grab the fire flower, climb the stack of creates and throw a fireball at the highest crate to reveal a pipe.
-Talk to the robot on the other side to start playing another crate-burning minigame.
-Take out as many of the crates as you can down the middle, as soon as the timer starts.
-Burn them all and you’ll receive a star from the robot.

Fleet Glide Galaxy
FLUZZARD’S WILD BATTLEFIELD GLIDE
-Grab the hungry Luma between the Slipsand Galaxy and the warp pipe on the map. Feed it 1500 SBs to make the Fleet Glide Galaxy appear.
-This is another gliding stage, and it’s similar to the first one. You have to fly through all five gates to receive a star. However, there are enemies to maneuver around in this level.
-Nosedive at the first drop to hit the first gate at the bottom of the lava slope.
-After getting the 1-up mushroom before going outside, turn left, and don’t stop turning left.
-Follow the SBs and make sure you pull up to give yourself some time to fly through the second gate.
-The third is behind the second Thwomp in the next hallway.
-The fourth is at the bottom of the next room.
-The last one is in the doorway at the end of the run.
-As soon as you go through it, pull up to slow down and grab the Comet Medal on the left side, just ahead of the last gate.
-Go through the sun circle at the end to get the star.

FASTEST FEATHERS IN THE GALAXY
-This star will only be available once you receive a letter from Jibberjay with an invite to a race in the Fleet Glide Galaxy.
-This race is like the other one with Jibberjay: come in first place and you will get a star.
-Follow the same path, but make sure you grab the Life Mushroom just past the first hippo.
-Glide through the three circular portals and cut left quickly while diving.
-Head for the opening just beyond the area of thin columns. Take the slope and nosedive down to pick up lots of speed.
-Your extra health will come in handy here as you dodge all of the obstacles toward the home-stretch.
-Keep diving under the falling columns, past the closing door and through the air ships.
-Come in 1st place and the star is yours.

Bowser Jr.’s Boom Bunker
BOWSER JR.’S BOOMSDAY MACHINE
-Wait for the broken-down Megahammer to fire a Bullet Bill at you, and direct it to the glass case down the path.
-Jump in the cannon in the now broken glass case and aim for the target (if it’s a bulls-eye, you’ll get a 1-up).
-Stun the Boomerang Bros. with an SB and then stomp them to make the launch star appear. Before you use it, though, grab the life mushroom on the far-left pole.
-After you hit the target with the second cannon, carefully cross the platforms, making your way to the other side.
-Above the blue platforms you’ll see a cloud flower and a Comet Medal. You can safely stand on the edge of the blue platforms to avoid the mines and time a jump for the Medal.
-Stay on the edge of the blue platforms to get a the cloud flower.
-Use the cloud platforms to get to the middle of the planet, then ground pound the stack of rocks in the middle of the platform and use the launch star that appears.
-Here at the boss section, grab a cloud flower if you need one, then head toward one of the upward drafts.
-Make a cloud platform while over it to ascent up as quickly as you can.
-Once high enough, long-jump to the top of the Boomsday Machine with the help of a few cloud platforms. Be careful to avoid yellow electric shots that will destroy your clouds.
-Get to the top of the tower and ground pound the glass three times to break it.
-After the first hit, Bowser Jr. will activate a vacuum mechanism that will make your cloud platforms disappear.
-After you get a second hit, the machine will become a tank.
-When this happens, just make a higher level of clouds before making your move.
-After you get one more hit, you’ll earn a Grand Star and can head to World 6.

BOOMSDAY MACHINE DAREDEVIL RUN
-When a comet appears over Bowser Jr.’s Boom Bunker, return for a comet challenge.
-This challenge is trickier than the other Daredevil Runs because you will need to
complete the entire galaxy without taking any damage.
-To make matters worse, the rotating platforms are gone.
-Just like before, guide the Bullet Bill into the dome and use the cannon to reach the next area.
-Get to the launch star and remember to balance the yellow platform in the next section.
-Make sure to get the checkpoint before using the cloud flower to head to the launch star.
-If you’re able make it past the Boomsday Machine again, you’ll get another star.

World 6

Melty Monster Galaxy
THE MAGNIFICENT MAGMA SEA
-Grab the blue pull-stars to avoid those large lava orbs and grab the life mushroom.
-There are two stars on the right that are lined up with the launch star just ahead.
-Hang on the bottom star on the right and then use the star above it to pull yourself towards the launch star. Your momentum will carry you a little bit past it, but simply spin to catch it as you come back.
-Make your way down the platform, being sure to avoid lava waves and fire balls.
-Grab the pole and climb up to the platform to restore your health with the life mushroom if you need to.
-Jump onto the platform on the left and continue forward en route to the checkpoint flag.
-Spin the tiny tornado to launch yourself upward. Spin from tornado to tornado and when at the top, swing left into the launch star.
-In this area, jump from rock to rock without getting attacked by the lava monsters on the dark-colored rocks.
-Long jump from the first long, dark-colored rock to the rock in the distance with the Comet Medal.
-Continue to the left and break the star out of the crystal by spinning it twice.

A STROLL DOWN ROLLING LANE
-Get the rock mushroom on the platform up ahead and roll over the ramp, into a launch star.
-Ignore the spiky fruit here, just make your way to the gray wall and ram it down with your rock powers when you get there.
-After you knock it down, make your way across it.
-Next, carefully roll over this tricky set of wall-less ramps. You can still jump in rock from if you need to.
-At the end of the platform you’ll need to bounce off the yellow wall and rebound back toward the area with the star.
-Crash into the block in the back-left corner and grab the star.

THE CHIMP’S BOWLING CHALLENGE

-This challenge is under “A Stroll Down Rolling Lane.”
-Look to the left of the rock mushroom to find a somewhat hidden platform with a pipe on it.
-Once through the pipe, The Chimp will challenge you to a bowling minigame.
-Each pin that you hit is worth 100 points. If you get at least 5,000 points as Rock Mario,
then The Chimp will reward you with a star.

Clockwork Ruins Galaxy”
TIME FOR ADVENTURE
-Head right once you’ve gotten past the pumpkin Goombas and continue over the spinning gears.
-Make your way across the gears and ride the final one up to the launch star to take yourself to the next area.
-Be leery of the purple wall in this next area. Stand in the darker spots when the wall begins to push outward as you make your way to the right.
-There is a life mushroom in the bottom-right corner.
-Get all the way to the right and jump onto the wall while it is extended, then up to the platform on the left.
-Continue all the way to the left and spin the green arrow to change the gravity to inward.
-After the purple wall falls out, make your way back along what used to be the “bottom” of the level, along the brown wall.
-Once up the other purple platform, make your way to the switch, then ground pound it. The cage around the Luma will open and after you talk to him, he will transform into a launch star.
-Use the gaps to avoid getting squashed by the stones rolling down the ramps in this next area (one of them will have a 1-up mushroom).
-Once you get to the top of the ramp, jump into one of the holes on a stone, and ride it back downward.
-About halfway down the ramp, perform a back-flip to get the Comet Medal and then head back up the ramp.
-Wall jump up the spiked wall while the spikes are retracted.
-Next, jump from peg to peg, up and to the right, to get to the top.
-Ground pound the giant burst icon, causing the the platform to fall down.
-Wall jump to ascend up through the large rotating wheels.
-Once on top, head over to the brown platform to the right. Once you arrive up at the switch, ground pound it to make a ramp appear.
-After the stones begin to fall, jump onto one of the them and ride it to the pegs below the star.
-Jump onto the pegs and climb up to get the star.

THE ADVENTURE OF THE PURPLE COINS
-When a comet appears over Clockwork Ruins Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-You will need to collect 100 purple coins within 5 minutes.
-The first part will take place on the four large wheels.
-For the first two wheels, you can use the ground on either side to wait for coins to rotate near you.
-Before heading over to the third and fourth wheels, you should have 37 coins.
-There is more area to cover on the third and fourth wheels, so make sure you utilize the long-jump. After the third, you should have 65 coins and 73 coins before you come to the last gear.
-This is the hardest part, but once you get 100 coins within the allotted time, the star will appear at the top of the last gear.

THE LEDGE HAMMER TRAP
-Pick “Time for Adventure.”
-You will need 30 coins before you reach the hungry Luma at the bottom of the second
large gear.
-There are coins on all sides of all of the gears. The “?” block before the second large gear is a great source of coinage.
-There are also a lot of coins on the second large gear.
-Once you have 30, drop below the second large gear and give them to the Luma. Use the launch star that appears.
-On this planet, move along past the hammers, pounding the time-slow switches as you go along. Jump into the pipe at the end.
-Perform long-jumps to get past the hammers and reach the star.

Throwback Galaxy
RETURN OF THE WHOMP KING
-Climb the ramp and jump across the platforms when the wall traps retract.
-The Thwomps at the next ramp should be easy to slip around.
-Head down to the shallow water and run to the far side to where you can break some boxes to find a launch star.
-From here, continue your ascent up the mountain by crossing the planks and continuing clockwise around the level.
-Climb the flag pole to collect an easy 1-Up Mushroom.
-From here, jump down, and do a midair spin to get onto the platform. Climb down the pole and grab the Comet Medal.
-Once you are back up the flagpole, hook around to the right. After you defeat the purple Piranha Plant, take one of the moving platforms up to the top of the fortress.
-Take care the giant Whomp up here, then drop down the hole that opens up.
-The Whomp King is really just like any other Whomp.
-Make sure you stand outside of the red shadow on the ground, indicating where the Whomp King will slam. Make sure to jump and avoid the shockwave.
-Quickly backflip onto his back and ground pound the burst icon.
-Once you get your first hit, three mini-Whomps will come to join the party and annoy you by shaking the ground and stunning you (they’ll die after The King performs another slam).
-Get another hit on The Whomp King and five mini-Whomps will shake the ground twice.
-A third hit on the back of The King will earn you another star.

SILVER STARS IN THE WHOMP FORTRESS
-The first silver star is in plain sight on the ramp at the beginning of the stage. Continue up the ramp and grab the cloud flower.
-Drop between the two platforms with wall traps to grab the second silver star. Quickly create a cloud platform to avoid death.
-Keep moving right and grab a new cloud flower from behind the Thwomp. Slide down the nearby trail of coins, and use your cloud platforms to get to the third silver star on the cloud in the distance.
-Climb past the Thwomps to the area with the boards. Get the fourth silver star at the end of the row of clouds up ahead. You can navigate these easily with your cloud power.
-Get to the top of the fortress, grab a new cloud flower, create a set of platforms in the middle area to lead you up to a cloud above the fortress where the fifth silver star awaits.
-Jump down to grab the star.

WHOMP SILVER STAR SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Throwback Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-You will have 2 minutes to collect all of the silver stars in Whomp’s Fortress.
-Just follow the same path as “Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress” to earn a star for this challenge.

Battle Belt Galaxy
MINI-PLANET MEGA-RUN
-Each planet in this galaxy has a collection of enemies that must be defeated before you can progress.
-To start out, jump on the Goomba to make the launch star appear.
-Defeat the fire enemies on the next planet by spinning them to cool them off, then running into them.
-Long jump over the crater on this planet to get the Comet Medal.
-On the next planet, grab a fire flower from one of the boxes and use it to defeat the urchin enemies. Next, jump on the Crabbers from behind then spin them to finish them off.
-Catch the checkpoint flag on the next planet before defeating the pumpkin Goombas with a spin, followed by a ground pound. Grab the key that appears.
-Use the shell’s headlights to defeat the Boos on the next planet.
-On the ice planet, defeat the ice enemies the same way as the fire enemies.
-The moles on the next planet can be defeated by pounding the ground nearby, then spinning them.
-Head through the pipe and jump on the blue, spiky enemies only when the spike is facing the ground.
-On this final planet, spin the green, rubber balls at the Chomps to get the star.

SNACKTIME FOR GOBBLEGUT
-Pick “Mini-Planet Mega-Run.”
-You will need to have 20 coins by the time you reach the planet with the ice enemies.
-Coins can only be attained in this galaxy by defeating enemies and picking up the coins they drop along the way.
-Give the Luma 20 coins and use the launch star that the Luma leaves behind.
-Here, you will now have to defeat a fire version of Gobblegut.
-He will leave a flaming crater anytime he goes through the planet and if you accidentally touch them, you’ll run around in excruciating pain.
-Like before, spin to destroy the six “bulges” (after the first three, meteors will begin to fall from the sky) to defeat him and earn a star.

MINI-PLANET DAREDEVIL RUN
-When a comet appears over Battle Belt Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-This level is mostly unchanged, so proceed as usual, but remember that you can’t take any damage.
-Keep the fire flower long enough to use it on those pesky crabs and remember to use star bits to stun your foes.
-On the last planet, stay clear of the Chomps and you’ll have another star added to your collection.

Flash Black Galaxy
JUMPING AROUND IN THE DARK
-Pick up the hungry Luma located just past the Melty Monster Galaxy and feed it 1800 SBs to unlock the path leading to this galaxy.
-Keep your eyes open for this level, as light only shines through every few seconds.
-Once you get Yoshi, use the Blimp Fruit to help you through the vertical maze.
-Grab the Life Mushroom by floating up to it and holding A to stop before hitting the mine.
-Collect the Comet Medal above the mine, in the upper left corner. Once you have it, jump across the gap and then drop down to your right and use the launch star.
-This is another silver star collection, but don’t worry about the light issue; just like coins and platforms, the stars will be visible in the dark.
-Even in the dark, if you jump to a silver star you can be assured that you will touch down on ground. Collect all five and the star will appear at the end of the level.

DARK OCTO-ARMY ROMP
-When a comet appears over Flash Back Galaxy, return for a comet challenge.
-You have 80 seconds to kill all 30 Octos.
-The quickest way to kill these guys is to shoot them with star bits and then kick them off the level.
-You can also chain you stomps by jumping from enemy to enemy to gain momentum.
-Toward the end, there is a crystal containing a Yoshi egg on the left. Use Yoshi to lick up 2 enemies at once and attack while airborne.
-Get ,em all in under 80 seconds to earn a star.

Slimy Spring Galaxy”
THE DEEP SHELL WELL
-Slide down the waterfall and collect coins. Press Z to dive under water and then spin to grab a turtle shell to help propel you through the water (use your spotlight to kill the tentacles if they look at it).
-Go left, just past the spiny purple urchins in the first tunnel, to take a secret passage to the Comet Medal.
-Next, cross through the subsequent area of enemies and swim up the stone passageway until you reach a brick wall.
-Run into it with your turtle shell to break through. Grab the air bubble, then use the launch star.
-Hit the checkpoint flag and climb the steps to the left or right and long-jump to the 1-Up. Drop down into the pool and use your shell to glide through the yellow rings to get speed boosts and air.
-Swim up the final incline, making sure to avoid the urchins, and once on dry land use your shell to bust open the treasure chest and collect the star.

THE CHIMP’S COIN CHALLENGE
-You must receive a letter from The Chimp about this challenge before you can return to Slimy Spring galaxy and attempt it.
-For this challenge, you’ll need to accumulate 10,000 points before time expires. The Scoring is the same as in the Fluffy Bluff and Honeyhop Chimp challenges.
-The best way to rack up points is to shine the spotlight into the enemy tentacles and Boos.
-Also, you can get a bunch of coins in the first area on the slide at 100 points apiece.
-From there, grab a turtle shell as soon as possible.
-Collect coins and shine your spotlight into as many tentacles as possible. As soon as you use the launch star, nab as many coins as you can as you fall into the water.
-Use your spotlight on the Boos as your final source of points. Collect 10,000 before the timer runs out and earn a star.

Bowser’s Galaxy Generator
BOWSER’S FORTIFIED FORTRESS
-Before following the Luma, go to the left and grab Life Mushroom at the top of the flag pole.

-Grab a spin drill and dig through the dirt to the next area.

-Once you drill through, keep moving forward, making sure to avoid the Bills along the way before coming to a launch star at the end of the planet.
-Move right to the ascending platforms, then jump through the fireballs to the descending platforms.
-Get the cloud flower and jump for the life mushroom just above the lava.
-As you make your way up, refill on clouds when necessary and try to avoid the Bullet Bill Cannons. Take the launch star at the top.
-Cross the bridge and pick up Yoshi. Use his tongue to stun the Hammer Bros. or use their hammers as ammo.
-Swing from the flowers near the wall to lead to a 1-Up. Grapple over with Yoshi’s tongue and drop to the 1-Up,
-Take the row of flower pegs across the lava and nail more Hammer Bros. with Yoshi’s tongue.
-When the sea of lava parts, grab the dash pepper with Yoshi’s tongue, but be careful to dodge the obstacles on your path forward.
-Once you arrive safely, use the launch star at the end to get to the next area.
-Wait on the purple platform until you get a Life Mushroom, then take a right at the fork. Have Yoshi eat the Magikoopa and hop the fiery arms.
-When the lava monster appears, jump over to the left purple path, then jump back when the other one appears.
-When the paths converge, swing on the flowers on the left to reach the Comet Medal, then flutter-jump back toward the platform.
-Make sure to get the blimp fruit on the right and and float up.
-Definitely catch the checkpoint flag and dismount Yoshi in order to climb the pole.
-Just like before, ground pound the gold meteor at the Bowser symbol on the door to cause it to open.
-And again, just like before, the fight against Bowser is pretty much the same. However, there are more shockwaves to dodge from the meteors and when Bowser unleashes a planet-punch. Time your jumps to avoid these.
-Your attack method should be the same: ground pound meteorites at Bowser. After two hits, he will once again begin to use his fire-breath on you.
-Get two more hits, watch him fall in his defeat and reap the benefits of taking a star.
-And just when you think it’s over…
-As you find yourself falling in this vortex simply use the same tactic: ground pound meteors every time Bowser pops out of his shell.
-Nail him four times and you will have successfully beat him, saved Princess Peach and earned the star.

BOWSER’S BIG BAD SPEED RUN
-When a comet appears over Bowser’s Galaxy Generator, return for a challenge.
-Another speed run where you must collect clocks, but don’t worry, you won’t have to face Bowser again.
-Get the clocks before taking out the Boomerang Bros.
-Catch the clocks as you float down with the flower.
-You won’t have to worry about the Banzai Bills as you quickly make your way to the checkpoint flag.
-Grab Yoshi and swing over to the Boomerang Bros. Kill them quickly with Yoshi’s tongue in order to open up the wall.
-Utilize the speed with the dash pepper and grab the two clocks as you propel yourself to the launch star.
-When the purple platforms split, jump back and forth to gather extra time with the clocks.
-Quickly get a blimp fruit and if you beat the timer to the top, you’ll earn a star.
