Fun starts way before evolution did with The Croods, a new simulation building game in collaboration with Dreamworks and Rovio. The Croods is a game where you must cultivate animals and plants in order to expand your territory, earning coins and completing quests along the way so that you can properly raise your family in the land before time.
Gameplay
The Croods is a game where players must gather a slew of plants and animals through different means and use resources to maintain them. In exchange, these plants and animals will then product additional resources that will help you get even more items that can be used to expand your territory as well as other creatures to raise.
Currency
Coins are the primary currency within the game. It can be earned by selling items and by completing quests. Coins can be used to purchase items as well as other upgrades. In turn, gems are the premium currency within The Croods, and are much harder to come by. These are rewarded when players level up, and can also be purchased using real life currency. Gems can be used to buy premium items as well as speed up or even skip other parts of a quest.
Animals
Getting animals will involve putting up traps. Traps are used so that you can capture animals, and the better traps you have, the higher the chance of you being able to get a creature. Evolving traps, however, will cost you quite a bit of coin.
Once a creature as been captured, you would have to build it a home and make sure that it is well fed. Like traps, homes can be evolved so that the productivity rate of your animal would increase and that it would be able to produce more food for you to use. Take note, though, that a home has a certain food capacity, and it sets the limit as to how much it can carry before it stops producing any more food unless you collect it first.
There will also come a point where animals would stop producing food, so it is important to closely monitor your creatures and feed them whenever this happens.
Plants
Much like homes, plants can be placed anywhere in your land and can also be evolved in order to produce food. Food capacity also depends on the level of your plants, so make sure that not only do you have enough food to feed your creatures, but that you also have plants that can produce food that your creatures actually eat. This can be checked at the Animal information page.
Ugga’s Soup
Ugga’s Soup is where players can sell off their excess food in exchange for coins. In addition, selling the right kind of food and filling up the bar will allow you to get soup as a reward. This soup can be used to level up animals, improving their food production rate.
Gran’s Chores
Gran’s Chores is the Quests section of The Croods. This is where players can select objectives that will help them walk through all actions available within the game. Finishing quests will reward players with coins, experience, which will further unlock other items that you can buy at the store and access, as well as other special items, so make it a priority to check Gran’s Chores every now and then and see what tasks you can accomplish.
Expanding
Over time, the cave will become quite overpopulated especially if you’ve already placed a lot of plants, animal homes, and décor. When this happens, it might be a good idea to expand the size of your dwelling. This will not only increase the number of items that you can place, but it will also increase your overall food capacity, so make sure that you have enough resources to make the expansion possible.
