Rymdkapsel Walkthrough [Guide]

Rymdkapsel may be a mouthful, but really getting into the game is quite easy. The term “minimalist” applies to this particular title, as textures and visuals are quite reminiscent of games that you might have played during the eighties or nineties. There’s a lot of depth in Rymdkapsel, however, and players can really get into the building of roads and structures to manage your resources and fend off attacks. The formula of this game is quite simple, but that does not mean that it’s easy.

Gameplay
Rymdkapsel is a building simulation game where the goal is to reach and research the secrets behind the four monoliths found in space. Players start off with a bunch of resources as well as two minions that they can use to work towards building different stations that will eventually reach the mammoth structures. While creating corridors and rooms Tetris-style, which means that structures would have to be joined together despite being quite oddly shaped, waves of enemies would come based on a timer, and minions would have to be ordered to fend them off.

Resources and Buildings
There are many different kinds of buildings at play within Rymdkapsel, and each serve a very specific purpose. Corridors connect rooms to each other, and it is very important to have ample space to build these pathways as other rooms would need to be adjacent to at least on corridor block. This is also where minions would be traveling across, so strategically building them is a must.

Reactors are places where energy can be mined. Players would have to assign minions to perform tasks in order to acquire these resources. Extractors would have to be build adjacent to a particle field so that they can acquire materials from there, which is finite in quantity. Kitchens and gardens work together as the latter creates sludge that would have to be carried to the former in order to produce food. Lastly, weapons rooms are places where minions would be able to fend off attacks against enemies while quarters, once built, will add additional minions that you can order to perform other tasks.

Energy, materials, and food work hand in hand towards the creation of rooms, which has a specific resource requirement. Managing these resources properly is essential so that building structures could be performed smoothly.

Minions
Minions are the workers that you can assign to different tasks within the game. Engineering tasks will have them mining energy from reactors, while food service will have them traveling from the gardens to the kitchen in order to produce food. Defense will have minions take up arms in weapons rooms in order to defend the station against attackers, while research will have minions go to monoliths in order to unlock its secrets. Like resources, properly managing minions to perform specific tasks is very important, as you would not want a minion to remain idle while others are doing the brunt of the work.

Enemies
There is a timer located at the bottom of the screen, which would signify as to when enemies would attack. When the waves come along, players must assign minions to defense tasks in order to fend them off. While enemies do not make lasting damage to your stations, they can immobilize your minions for a bit, which would eat up on your precious time to reach the monoliths.

Tips and Tricks
Proper management of resources and delegating tasks to minions is an importance that cannot be stressed enough. Make sure that you have a healthy amount of all resource producing rooms, and make sure to create minions so that numerous tasks could be done at once. Always keep an eye out of resources that you are running out of, and make sure that no minions are idle.

Proper placement of weapons rooms is also a must. Have them placed in regular intervals, so that when enemies arrive, minions would be able to quickly go to the designated room wherever they are in the station. It would also be a good idea to place defense locations near monoliths, as this is where your minions would be spending most of their time once they have reached these areas.

Also, keep an eye out on the enemy timer. Move your minions towards defense tasks once the warning lights flash. This will give you ample time to arm up, and would prevent incidents where your minions are just moving towards the weapons room and are left vulnerable to enemy attacks.

Lastly, be able to compromise looks over function. As with Tetris, you wouldn’t be able to make a perfect fit all the time, so it would be best to just move on and try to make the best distance possible within the shortest amount of time. Of course, don’t miss out on the chance to place extractors near particle fields as well as other necessary rooms along the way. A healthy number of corridors is also very important in order to make the necessary connections.
