NBA 2K14 is the latest entry in the NBA 2K franchise from 2K Sports. This entry
is also set to be made available on next-generation consoles. Even though this
guide was created using the seventh generation versions of the game, the bulk
of it should apply to all versions of the game, including the upcoming PS4 and
Xbox One versions of it.

Flick the right analog stick from any menu in the game to reach the 2K Nav
sub-menu. This will allow you to move between game modes easily.

NBA 2K14 makes minor changes to how the controls in the NBA 2K franchise
function. All new control information can be found below.

At any menu in the game, press BACK if you need more help.

Please note that the following information was taken directly from the manual
that comes with the game.

On Xbox 360, there are some exclusive features related to Kinect. If you have a
Kinect plugged in while playing the game, voice commands become an option.
These are all the available voice commands for the game, assuming you have a
Kinect sensor. Once again, this information was taken directly from the
instruction manual that comes with the game.

Pressing “start” at the main menu will result in the creation of the MyPLAYER
character. There are 36 pre-made characters to choose from. If you want to
use one of these characters, then put the cursor over their picture and then
press Start.

If you’d like to customize your own player, press A at this menu.

Assuming you decide to create your own MyPLAYER character, there are a variety

When you are done creating your character, simply press start at any time while
creating them to advance.

first name and a last them, and then press “start” to proceed to the actual

Whenever you start up NBA 2K14, you are prompted to complete a game in NBA
Today. Essentially, NBA Today draws on the real life games going on in the NBA
and challenges players to complete the latest one by choosing either of the
teams participating.

This is the primary single player mode in NBA 2K14. There are two different
paths to choose from at the start, each with their own games and challenges.

These are the two different paths to choose from:

Heat Dynasty
Fantastic Journey

Each game in LebBron: Path to Greatness has its own set challenges that are
ranked based on stars, with players aerning a higher rank based on how well
they complete the set objective.

For those that want to go through seasons of NBA with their MyPLAYER, MyCAREER
is the game mode for them.

The first thing you do is continue to customize your MyPLAYER character upon
starting a career. You choose their nickname, their dominant hand and dominant
dunk hand, their birth year, their jersey number, their birth month, birth day,
and the college they attended.

ROOKIE SHOWCASE

This is the first game that is in your MyCAREER mode. It is a showcase of all
the rookies that will be a part of the upcoming NBA draft. The game starts you
out at a grade of “C”. You are rated based on your performance in the game.
Doing poorly will lose coins that can be spent on your character down the
road.

INTERVIEWS AND DRAFT
====================
After competing in the Rookie Showcase, you have to go through a series of
interviews so the professional teams interested in you can determine if you
will be a valuable asset or not.

When the interviews are over, the draft will begin. Watch the draft, and when
the draft is over, you will be placed in a team.

For your rookie year, your contract is non-negotiable. When up for resigning,
you can choose to sign with a different team or re-sign with your current team
and go through a negotiation process.

After that, it is up to you to play through the seasons with your character in
an attempt to improve your skills, win games, and whatever else.

In all honesty, the MyCAREER mode in NBA 2K14 is just so similar to the
experience that you will get in NBA 2K13, so please refer to my guide for NBA 2K13 for
more information and a deeper analysis.

6. Game Modes

All the different game modes that you can play can be found in this section
of the game.

—>MyTEAM<—
This mode is the same as MyCAREER, except that it is built with a team focus as
opposed to focusing on a single individual MyPLAYER character.

—>THE ASSOCIATION/SEASON<—
Straight season of NBA. For The Association mode, you basically just have more
customization options when it comes to creating your seasons.

—>TRAINING CAMP<—
Training Camp is tailor-made to make sure you learn all the different ins and
outs of basketball. There are a total of 66 different challenges available
designed to make sure you know all the different moves in the game.

The different moves are separated into different categories in order to keep
everything organized. NBA 2K14 keeps track of how far you’ve progressed in
completing all of the different challenges and your mastery of all the
different moves available.

I highly recommend using the Training Camp if you are new to the NBA 2K
experience, as it will teach you a lot of things that will go a long way in
greatly improving your abilities and your overall skill as a player.

Exactly how it sounds. Practice is where you can hone your skills in the world
of NBA 2K14.

—>NBA BLACKTOP<—
Old school, bro. NBA Blacktop takes the NBA players away from the bright
lights of the stadiums and returns them to the blacktops where they probably
first fell in love with the game. Half court rule will apply to Blacktop games
that use a minimal number of players. What this means is that every single time
the ball changes, it doesn’t legally become your ball until you retreat beyond
the three-point line.
