1. Introduction and Controls
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Wii Party U is an entry in the “Wii” series of games that somewhat mimics
Nintendo’s own Mario Party series. Players make Mii characters and use them
in the various games.

The mini-games come in a variety of different categories, with most of them
using motion controls. The controls for each game are structurally different.
Before starting each mini-game, you can see what the objective is as well as
how the controls work in it.

You need Wii remotes with MotionPlus as well as the Wii U GamePad to play
Wii Party U. Each player will need their own Wii remote for most of the
multiplayer mini-games.

2. TV Party
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
TV Party takes the mini-games and uses them to complement a larger game, such
as a board game and others. There are five different modes within TV Party
and all of them are for 1 to 4 players.

===============
HIGHWAY ROLLERS
===============
In Highway Rollers, you move along a board with various spaces that have an
effect on the game. The amount of dice you roll is determined by what place
you come in after the most recent mini-game.

There are a couple of points on the board when you reach an impassable point
until you roll a certain number. You can shake the dice by shaking the Wii
remote, but I don’t think it actually increases your chances of having a good
roll.

If you roll doubles, you are able to roll again.

==============
GAMEPAD ISLAND
==============
Similar to Highway Rollers, the difference with GamePad Island is that it uses
dice that can both add and subtract to the amount of moves. The GamePad is
passed around between players for rolls. In addition to using the remotes for
play, the GamePad is used more frequently for mini-games and other
functionality on GamePad Island.

=================
MII FASHION PLAZA
=================
Mii Fashion Plaza allows you to choose between rolling a single die or rolling
two dice. The reason that you want to do this is that sometimes a small
number is better. The goal is to have a matching outfit by the end of the
game, and you have to build these outfits by taking clothing items from other
Miis while also visiting storefronts specific to the type of clothing that
you need.

=============
THE BALLDOZER
=============
Unlike the previous games, which are based on a board, Balldozer has a
completely different objective. By getting in first place, you get four balls.
Second place gets you three balls, whereas third place gets you two balls.
Getting in last gets you one ball.

The balls are shot out from the top of the screen to a pile of other balls.
The more balls in an area will cause them to overflow. The balls that fall
over the edge will get you points.

Different balls do different things. The different colors are worth basic
points, whereas golden balls are worth considerably more points. Death balls
are purple with a skull and crossbones on the front. These will subtract points
from your total.

As the game progresses, new gimmicks are thrown into the mix. Rings appear
that, when a ball passes through them, causes an avalanche of balls to come
down through the machine.

=============
TEAM BUILDING
=============
This mode was also found in the original Wii Party. By winning mini-games, you
are able to take different Miis from a pool with the ultimate goal of having
Miis that match up based on the color of their shirts.

3. House Party
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
House Party features its own set of games that are separated from the
mini-games that are found in TV Party. All of these games require more than 1
player.

===============
BUTTON SMASHERS
===============
Button Smashers is basically Twister. The more players that you have, the
more controllers are required. For example, with three players, you use a
GamePad and then two remotes.

The game will tell you to press specific buttons in a specific order based on
the player for the first five turns. After that, anyone can get any of the
buttons that appear. Hold the buttons in unless told to release the buttons.

==============
DO U KNOW MII?
==============
Questions are asked to each player. The player that is in the “hot seat”
answers the question on a scale. The other players then try to guess how the
player in the hot seat answered the question based on how well they know that
person.

==============
NAME THAT FACE
==============
This game uses the GamePad’s camera. One player is given a face to make as a
challenge. The player snaps a photo of themselves making the face, and then
the other players have to guess what kind of face that player was making.

=============
WATER RUNNERS
=============
The GamePad is placed on the floor, directly across from the TV. Using Wii
remotes, “scoop” up the water from the GamePad’s screen. Then very carefully
walk the water back to the TV and dump it in your container.

=====================
LOST-AND-FOUND SQUARE
=====================
A “lost pet” Mii is hidden in the square. One player uses the GamePad to
direct the other players to the pet. Those players control their Miis using
the d-pads on the Wii remotes to locate the lost pet.

=========
FEED MII!
=========
One player is the server while the other players call out what types of food
they want. The goal of the server is to select all the different kinds of
food selected by the other players. Then they have to separate the food onto
the trays of the others based on what food they ordered.

=================
SKETCHY SITUATION
=================
All the players are given objects to draw. All the players except one are
given the SAME object to draw. The goal is to figure out who was given the
different object.

==============
DANCE WITH MII
==============
The GamePad is placed on the floor. Players “hold hands” by forming a circle
around the GamePad and holding the Wii remotes. As the game requires, players
lift up and lower their hands with the rhythm of the music.

4. GamePad Party
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Tabletop games that ONLY use the GamePad. These games range from competitive to
co-op.

=================
TABLETOP FOOSBALL
=================
Using the sticks, players can move the people on the field to knock the balls
into the goals on the opposite ends of the GamePad.

=================
TABLETOP BASEBALL
=================
Pitchers pull back the stick to throw. Releasing the stick faster will cause
the ball to be thrown faster. Releasing it slowly will cause the ball to be
tossed slowly.

The batter simply has to pull back the stick and release. The icons at the
end of the field are what determines whether you hit a single, double, or a
home run. Hitting the ball on the field and not having it fall into any of
the holes will also result in a single.

============
MII-IN-A-ROW
============
Essentially Connect 4, except with Miis. The goal is to match up your icons on
the board.

=================
TABLETOP GAUNTLET
=================
In this mode, the two players compete to get to the end of the board by
manipulating the different functionality of the GamePad.

==================

5. Mini Games

The following is a checklist of all the individual mini-games that can be
played in Wii Party U. The mini-games are separated into two different
categories:  All Play and 1 vs. Rivals. All Play uses remotes, whereas 1 vs.
Rivals uses the GamePad against other players with remotes.

The mini-games will always be played with four players. If there’s not enough
human players, those players will be replaced by coms.

Mini-games can be selected specifically, by random, or by how well a game is
rated based on the people that have played the game on your Wii U.

This is a checklist of all the mini-games as they appear in the game.
