TwoDots Walkthrough [Guide]

Connecting dots together may seem like child’s play, but TwoDots is anything but that. Connecting dots into lines and squares becomes mind numbingly difficult with this unique puzzle game, and you will certainly be walking around in circles in no time as the levels here will really challenge and test your skills – as well as your patience. As they say, the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, so let’s get straight into the action with this handy TwoDots guide.

Gameplay
TwoDots is a puzzle game where dots of different colors are laid out in irregularly sized and shaped grids. The goal here is to complete objectives, which may vary in each stage, before you run out of moves. Moves pertain to being able to connect dots in the same color in any form of vertical or horizontal line. The best lines, however, are ones that form squares or rectangles, as they can either create bomb dots that will clear all dots surrounding it, as well as remove all dots of that particular color within the grid. Planning each move is critical especially since latter levels will require precise movements to maximize each turn that you are given.

Stages
TwoDots follows a linear level model. This means that stages open up once the previous one has been completed. However, players have the option to return to previously finished levels should they want to improve their score and get more stars. Players can earn up to three stars per stage, with the number depending on their total score. Each level also has specific objectives that players ,must be able to complete before they can proceed.

Lives
Lives within TwoDots are symbolized by hearts, and these are required before players would be able to enter a level. Your inventory of hearts will be reduced by one should you fail or quit a round. However, players will not be penalized by restarting a level without making any moves, although players should take note that this only applies if you did not come losing that particular level. This is a great way to have the grid arranged based on your preferences, although it is worth noting that some levels will reshuffle some or all dots while some will not.

Lost hearts will regenerate over time, but players can make in-app purchases to refill it instantly. Players are also provided with a refill the first time that they use up all lives. Players may only have a maximum of five lives stored at a time.

Objectives
Each level will comprise of one or more objectives. These may include clearing a certain number of a particular color or colors of dots, while some will require players to have anchor dots, which cannot be matched, fall to the bottom of the grid. Others, on the other hand, will have players clearing special dots such as those that are encased in ice blocks or are in fire. Players can check up on the objective for a particular stage before the level begins, and they can see their progress at the upper portion of the screen. Players must ensure that each move works towards the completion of these objectives as they will not be able to clear the stage without clearing all of these requirements no matter how high their score may be.

Scoring
Scoring within the game is pretty simple. Players will get one point for each dot matched, while anchors dropped and ice blocks shattered are worth ten points each. A lot more points will be acquired should you complete objectives with moves left, as they are worth five points each. In addition, your first five leftover moves will turn into bomb dots which would be placed randomly on the board, and any dots that it eliminates will further add to your score.

Stars awarded for a level will depend on your total score, so the higher your score, the more stars you can potentially earn.

Powerups
Various powerups may be purchased and can help you finish tougher puzzles. For example, bombs can be purchased and this would allow you to place bombs anywhere in the grid. There’s also a powerup which would allow you to have five extra moves should you run out without completing the objectives. All powerups will require real money, so buy them only if you are sure that these items will be able to make you clear the stage. Otherwise, it would be much better to just restart the stage rather than waste your cash.

Tips and Tricks
As mentioned above, making squares is one of the best moves that you can make. Connecting dots in the form of a square will have all dots of that color disappear from the board, and all dots that will replace it would not be of that particular color. This will make it easier for you to match other colors, especially if they belong to the colors that you will need to eliminate as an objective.

Should players create squares with one dot in the middle, on the other hand, then it will have the same effect with the added bonus of converting the middle dot into a bomb. This bomb will then detonate and take out all dots close to it after all the replacement dots have fallen.

Take caution when using these strategies, however, as the resulting arrangement of dots may not be what you prefer. Think several steps ahead and try and foresee how your grid would look like before making a move. You will have plenty of time to do this as the game does not have a time limit.

With relation to the above, don’t just look towards matching long lines. Strategy and planning must be done, as sometimes eliminating just two dots from a long string will have higher dots fall into locations that will allow you to make better matches in the end. Weigh the pros and cons of your actions first before you commit to a certain decision.

Always check up on the progress of your objectives, regardless of whether you have many or little moves left. Remember to always work towards completing objectives and that having more moves left will be much better than to continue making matches that will only score you two to three points. Likewise, remember the rules on how to eliminate special blocks, and that sometimes clearing them all is not a complete necessity.

Use the trick mentioned above to reshuffle puzzles. This will allow you to make a strong first move that might be able to take out a lot of dots that are required for you to clear the stage. Don’t use powerups unless absolutely necessary as the game is completely solvable even without using them. Don’t worry too if you don’t see any more matches, as the puzzle will automatically reshuffle if no more matches can be made. If things don’t go your way, then simply restart the level and then try again.

Lastly, connect the game to your Facebook account so that you will be able to see your friends’ scores for a particular stage. This will allow you to see how well you perform against your friends who are also playing the game.
