1. Introduction
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
FIFA 15 is the latest soccer game from EA Sports. The FIFA franchise has always been a fan favorite, and this year’s game may just be the biggest FIFA game to date. This guide is designed to help you fully master everything there is to know about FIFA 15.

When you first start up the game, you will be asked to choose your language. If you are playing the Xbox One version of FIFA 15, you will have the option to use voice commands in the game. The language that you choose will determine what kind of accent Kinect will be listening for if you decide to utilize the voice commands.

Next you will automatically be thrown into a match. The match is between Liverpool and Manchester City. I have noticed this as a trend in recent EA Sports games, putting players into a game or match right off the bat. Anyway, you can play the match to its conclusion your can go to the pause menu and quit if you just want to start the game.

The game will then ask you to sign in using your Origin account or sign up to Origin. Unfortunately, EA requires that you have an Origin account set up so that you can access the online features in FIFA 15.

When you’re done with that, you have to choose your club. The three clubs are as follows:

England
Barclays PL
Southampton

Choose your club and then you are ready to go. The Home tab will keep tiles that the game thinks you will be most interested in, whereas the other tabs will also have various game modes for you to access if the particular game mode or feature you are looking for is not appearing on your Home tab.

2. Kick Off
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Kick Off is the mode you play if you just want to jump right into a match. Up to four people can play on one console in Kick Off. Assign the controllers to whichever team you want each player to be on, and then after that, choose whether you want to be HOME or AWAY. Next up is choosing the team that you will play as.

The team stats are listed from left to right as ATT (Attack), MID (mid-fielding), and DEF (defense).

These are the achievements that you can unlock in this game mode:

Controlled Defending (15G) – Perform a slide tackle and keep possession of the ball 10 times

Extra Effort (15G) – Score from the ground

Keeper’s Best Friend (50G) – Prevent a goal with a sliding goal line clearance

3. Ultimate Team
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
FIFA Ultimate Team is one of the most popular features in the FIFA franchise. This game mode is similar to the Ultimate Team modes found in other EA Sports games such as Madden NFL and NHL. There are some differences, which will be addressed here.

Before you can start Ultimate Team, you first have to choose your Ultimate Team Captain for the special one-off match. Your choices are Alaba (FC Bayern), Messi (FC Barcelona), Hazard (Chelsea), and Howard (Everton).

After you choose your captain, the game will will explain the team chemistry mechanic. Basically, the players that you have that are more compatible with one another across the three different categories (Position, Link, and Manager) will make your players play better. You can have a chemistry maxed up to 100.

Another important part of team chemistry is having your players in the correct positions. If you have a player that is not in the correct position for their style of play, then they will have an orange dot underneath their card. To switch cards around, click on the card that you want to switch, and then select the card you’d like to switch spots with. As I said before, having players in the correct position will raise your Team Chemistry rating.

Team chemistry can also be improved based on their Club, Nationality, and their League. So you are rewarded for using players that belong to the same Club, the same Nationality, or the same League in real life. The icons on the cards will tell you the nationality and club and league that each of your players belongs to.

If you have players next to each other that are of conflicting clubs, a red line will appear between them. The red line indicates a bad link between the two different players. Just like you can switch around cards to make sure the players are in the right positions on the field, you can also switch around the cards to keep the players linked correctly. A red link will turn into a green link if you have the correct players next to each other on the field.

The tutorial will make you go through the motions of putting these concepts to practice so that you can get your Ultimate Team up to 100 chemistry for the one-off match that will help you get accustom to the way FIFA Ultimate Team plays. Before you start any Ultimate Team match, you still have time to manage your team, adjust controller settings, adjust game settings, and if you are playing on Xbox One, you can also get help for Kinect calibration here. When you are ready to start the one off game, hit PLAY MATCH.

Win or lose, after the game you will be given your players. At that point, you are taken to the Ultimate Team hub.

===========
FUT CENTRAL
===========
FUT Central will have all your primary tasks in the largest tile. These tasks need to be completed for you to really get going for your Ultimate Team seasons. This portion of the guide will walk you through these tasks one step at a time.

There are some players here that you can sign as “Loan Players”. Loan Players are better players than you would normally start out with, typically with very high ratings, especially compared to your team. You can only use these players for a set number of matches, however. The number of matches that you can use each player is displayed underneath the name. The better the player, the less amount of matches that you get to use them.

The next step after you sign a loan player is to name your club. You can choose to create a new club name or you can just go with the club name that is provided to you by EA Sports.

After those two tasks are completed, these will be the next tasks that are on your list:

[ ] Play your first match in a tournament
[ ] Play one Seasons match
[ ] Buy an item from the Transfer market
[ ] List a player in the Transfer Market
[ ] Challenge the Team of the Week
[ ] Apply a Contract Item
[ ] Apply a Fitness Item
[ ] Apply a Chemistry Style Item
[ ] Change your Club Kit
[ ] Change your Club Ball
[ ] Change your Club Crest
[ ] Change your Club Stadium
[ ] Create a New Squad
[ ] Add a Concept Player to your Squad
[ ] Replace a Concept Player
[ ] Share a Squad with 100 Chemistry

Besides the manager tasks, there are also five tutorials to complete. These tutorials can be accessed by looking at the manager tasks and then pulling the right trigger. These tutorials will help you complete some of the tasks by showing you exactly how to do each item on the task list.

When you’re done with this basic stuff, you can get a free pack for going through this. Open the new pack and you will be taken to the New Items menu. You can manage your new cards and other things from here. Go through the short tutorial about this and then you are finally ready to get into the games and tournaments. You can get there through the other tabs in the Ultimate Team hub, but you can also get there through the large tile that you will find on the FUT Central screen.

The FUT Central screen also shows you the leaderboards. You can see the Team of the Week, sign up for EA Access (if you are playing on the Xbox One version of FIFA 15), and also learn about the companion app that has been released alongside the game.

Online Tournament

You will earn coins by completing matches in these different game modes. You can also challenge the Team of the Week, which is the best FUT team that has been active in the current week.

In the bottom right-hand tile of Play, you will find a few more options. You can cycle through these options using the right analog stick after highlighting the tile you want to interact with. Here you will find the option to play Friendly Seasons, play a single match online, or play a squad that has been created by someone on your friends list.

======
SQUADS
======
Squads refers to the team that you have created using FUT. Your active squad will be displayed. You can create multiple squads and have them all ready to pick and choose from.

=====
STORE
=====
FUT is primarily based in the concept of microtransactions. That means you can spend real money to purchase card packs in-game. Packs are purchased using one of two currencies: coins or FIFA Points. Coins are obtained simply by playing the game and grinding them out. FIFA Points are purchased with real-world money.

These are the different packs you can purchase. The number that is next to the type of pack dictates the amount of coins that you have to spend in order to purchase each pack. The packs contain a set amount of items as well as a set amount of players. You are guaranteed players of different calibers depending on the pack that you purchase.

Bronze Pack (400) – 12 items/10 bronze/1 rare
Premium Bronze Pack (750) – 12 items/10 bronze/3 rares
Silver Pack (2,500) – 12 items/11 silver/1 rare
Premium Silver Pack (3,750) – 12 items/11 silver/3 rares
Gold Pack (5,000) – 12 items/10 gold/1 rare
Premium Gold Pack (7,5000) – 12 items/10 gold/3 rares
Silver Upgrade Pack (15,000) – 12 items/12 silver/0 rare
Gold Upgrade Pack (30,000) – 12 items/12 gold/0 rare

FIFA points are the final option for you to purchase.

100 FIFA Points – $0.99
250 FIFA Points – $2.49
500 FIFA Points – $4.99
750 FIFA Points – $6.99
1,050 FIFA Points – $9.99
1,575 FIFA Points – $14.99
2,200 FIFA Points – $19.99
4,600 FIFA Points – $39.99
12,000 FIFA Points – $99.99

The large tile in Store will just take you to all the packs. The smaller tiles will jump you to specific packs to buy.

4. Career
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
When starting a career in FIFA 15, you are presented with two options. One, you can start a career as a manager. As a manager, your career will consist of handling the tactics of the matches, building a squad, and appeasing the squad that you have created. Two, you can be a player. As a player, you play your position on a team and work your way to the top. When it gets to the point for your player to retire, you can choose to do so and then continue on with your career in the manager role.

If you choose a manager role, you have to create your manager. If you choose a player role, you have the option to create a player or use a player that already exists.

The career modes have their own hub as well. You can have multiple career seasons going at one time. When you start a new career, the Career tile will expand with new options to continue the latest career you were using, load a career, or start a new career. These options can be cycled through using the right stick.

5. Tournament
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
In FIFA 15, you have the option to create tournaments. You can start new tournaments with set rules or you can customize your tournaments, including which teams will be involved, which ones you will control, and more can all be edited. You can also load tournaments that you have started. Again, to cycle through the tournament tile, use the right stick.

Starting a tournament takes you to a hub screen that is not unlike the hub screen that you use while in the Career modes. You have two different categories, which are Central and Squad.

You can edit various settings about the tournament before jumping into the matches. You can choose to simulate the tournaments entirely or play each game if you want. You can also edit team sheets to determine the strategies and tactics of the different teams that are going into each game. The one thing you can’t do in tournametns is edit the players that are on the teams after you have already started a new tournament.

Just like you can have multiple careers running at any given time, you can also have multiple tournaments running at once as well.

If you select the NEW TOURNAMENT option instead of creating a custom tournament, you will be presented with all of the different countries involved with soccer throughout the world. They all have their own cups to try to win.

6. Skill Games and Practice
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
There are two options available to you for practicing in FIFA 15. You can try out the Practice Arena. If you want to do this, you can also edit the arena player and arena keeper that will appear in your practice arena in the same title as the Skills Games/Practice tile (bottom left-hand corner of the “Play” section of the main hub of the game) by cycling through the options using the right stick.

FIFA 15 has 14 different skill games for you to complete. These games each have different medal rewards based on what the skill game is asking you to accomplish.

========
BEGINNER
========
Bronze – The first round you just have to run straight ahead. Hold the right trigger to run faster. The second run you have to weave in and one of the poles that are set up on the field. Don’t use the right trigger, as you will probably lose control of the ball if you do that, but don’t let the red line touch you either or you will lose.

Silver – Stay within the box that is outlined on the field. Simply kick the ball into the goal. To do that, tap B on Xbox platforms or Circle on PlayStation platforms. There will be a yellow barricade set up as well to block your shots. You need to hit the ball on the blue arrow in front of the goal as well as make the goal to get the points.

Gold – This is a simple passing drill. Just kick the ball into each of the nets. Be sure to hit the ball into the net that is highlighted with gold. Tap A (Xbox) or X (PlayStation) to perform a successful pass.

Skill Challenge – If you get Bronze, Silver, and Gold, you will unlock the right to do a Skill Challenge. The Beginner Skill Challenge simply has you performing tackles. Use X or B (Xbox)/Square or Circle (PlayStation) to perform tackles.

===========
GROUND PASS
===========
Bronze – More passing, but this time you have some long-range passes to complete as well. To do a long range pass, you have to hold in the pass button before going for the pass.

Silver – This time there are defenders that will move in front of the nets that you are trying to pass to. If the ball hits these defenders, then you will lose points. Time the shots so that the ball will sail into the net and avoid hitting the defenders.

Gold – The goal here is to pass the ball through the blue lines, denoted by a moving gate. If the two opposing team players get the ball, then they will kick it out of bounds and you will lose 200 points as well as one of your attempts. You will also lose an attempt if you hit the ball out of bounds yourself, but you won’t lose any points. Move quickly and pass the ball as fast as possible across the field to rack up points as fast as possible. You need at least 8,000 points to pass this one.

Skill Challenge – The Skill Challenge here requires you to yet again pass the ball into the highlighted nets. However, there is an additional aspect to the challenge. You have to do at least three “fancy passes”. To perform a fancy pass in FIFA 15, you need to hold the right bumper when you press the passing button.

====================
ADVANCED GROUND PASS
====================
Bronze – Hit the ball into the walls so that it ricochets into the center of the field so that you can then hit it against the next wall. Make a goal at the end of this if you want, but it’s not necessary to succeed.

Silver – Here you have to pass the ball to each teammate and then have them kick it back. If you hit it out of bounds or if the opponent takes the ball, you lose an attempt. After passing it each player, take the ball to the small net in front of the main goal and pass it into that net for bonus points at the end.

Gold – Pass the ball back and forth with your partner. You can do fancy passes for bonus points. If any of the two opposing team members take the ball, you lose 200 points. When you get close to the goal, one of the four nets will become highlighted. “Pass” the ball into one of these nets for extra points and to reset the ball without losing an attempt.

Skill Challenge – You are in a small box and you have to keep the ball away from the defenders on the other team. You can pass the ball around to your other teammates. The longer that you keep the ball away from the defenders, the more points you will earn. The challenge will end if you move out of the box or if one of the defenders manage to get the ball.

========
SHOOTING
========
Bronze – Shoot the ball into each of the two holes. To shoot the ball, use the B button for Xbox and the Circle button for PlayStation. Hold the button for more powerful shots. Use the left stick to aim your shot better.

Silver – Headers are the name of the game here. Headers are done the same as just shooting the ball with your foot. However, the ball has to be above your head. You can see where the ball is going to land by the yellow mark on the ground. Again, hold the button to determine the amount of velocity you want to use when hitting the ball with your head. You aren’t supposed to hit the ball into the goal here; rather, aim for the targets and the buckets.

Gold – A couple of tires will roll in front of the goal. You are supposed to hit the ball through the tires to get points, as well as try to hit the target behind the tires to get points as well. Don’t move your player when it starts as it is much easier to just stay still when you go for the shots, plus the box you have to stay in is very small and it is easy to go out of bounds.

Skill Challenge – A variety of obstacles will be moving around the field. Your goal is to hit the ball through the holes in the moving walls as well as knock down the boxes that are in the goal and simply make goals as much as possible before the time limit runs out. You have an unlimited amount of attempts to complete this one, though when the timer hits zero your points are tallied.

=================
ADVANCED SHOOTING
=================
Bronze – Hold the left bumper and hit the shoot button to perform a chip shot. Use the chip shot to send the ball over the obstacles and to the goal. You get points for getting it in the goal as well as hitting the targets that are in the goal.

Silver – Hold LT to do trick shots and knock the ball into the goal. Boxes will be added that you can knock down to get bonus points.

Gold – Hold the Y button (Xbox) or Triangle (PlayStation) to charge up your header. Wait for the ball to get close before you start charging it, though. Then flick the left stick towards the goal and release the button to perform the move. If done correctly (and assuming your opponent doesn’t swat the ball away), you should be able to send it into the goal. You get points for hitting the targets and simply getting into the goal.

Skill Challenge – You get four minutes to score as many goals as possible. Use what you learned in the past three challenges in order to be successful at this. Do a variety of shots, pass the ball to your teammate often, etc. There are only two defenders plus the goalie on the opposing team to deal with.

=========
DRIBBLING
=========
Bronze – Just move the ball through the gates. Follow the big white arrows on the ground. In the end, move through the center.

Silver – Go straight down the line. Avoid the blockers as they will take away some of your points. You don’t have to weave in and out of them, just move past them to rack up the points.

Gold – The goal here is to kick the ball in the direction of the white arrows and between the cones. For each arrow you successfully eliminate from the field (which is done by kicking the ball over it in the right direction), you will earn points. You also get points from the timer at the end, so if you are able to eliminate all of the arrows, you will get a nice bonus from the time and for any attempts that you have stored as well. You will still get the time bonus if you burn through all of your attempts, but the attempts give you more points. Use the left trigger to stop the opposing team member from stealing the ball from you. You also get points if you stop him from performing successful tackles. Don’t stop going after the ball until you’re sure the ball is dead as well, because sometimes what looks like a dead ball won’t count as one and you can recover it and continue going for points. When making sharp turns, let up on the right trigger to slow down and take the turn slower so that you can keep possession of the ball better.

Skill Challenge – This is a multi-stage challenge. In the first stage, you have to use skill moves to get across the arrows and get points. To do a skill move, use the right stick. Flick it as you move through the arrow to get the points. You get extra points by avoiding hitting the boxes and by getting a goal at the end, but they’re not necessary to move on to the next
stage. Next you just have to keep making goals, and every goal you make will make the challenge harder and harder as more players will be added to the field.

==================
ADVANCED DRIBBLING
==================
Bronze – Use the left stick and don’t pull the right trigger. Slowly dribble the ball between the posts. Then charge the ball down the next lane by holding the right trigger but avoid the obstacles.

Silver – Charge down the initial lane. You only get points for the arrows if you are ahead of the cut-out that you’re racing. When you get close to the goal, slow it down by releasing the right trigger. That will help you turn better. When you get to the lane with the obstacles that you move under and jump over, start holding the right trigger again to pick your speed back up and get the maximum amount of points.

Gold – Hold both triggers while dribbling the ball to perform a “strafe” dribble. Use the strafe dribble to get past the moving obstacles. Move the left stick back and forth very quickly in order to move fast enough to avoid the obstacles, as hitting them will subtract from your points. You can get a ton of bonus points by scoring at the end, but you don’t really need to get that far to get the gold medal and pass.

Skill Challenge – This is an obstacle course of sorts that combines the last three challenges. It starts off with the cut-out that you have to race, and you have to dribble the ball around obstacles and move it down lanes. Remember that you won’t get points for the arrows you pass unless you are currently beating the cut-out in the race.

========
LOB PASS
========
Bronze – To perform a lob pass, just press X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation). Aim your pass with the left stick. Adjust how long you hold the button to determine how far the ball is kicked. You need to successfully get a lob pass into each of the three boxes laid out in front of you in order to go on to the silver medal challenge.

Silver – There are four highlighted nets. You just have to successfully lob pass into two of the nets to get enough points to continue, but you can get a bunch of bonus points if you get it into the two nets that remain after that.

Gold – There’s a bunch of nets on the field. Lob the ball into the nets. The moving net in the center is worth 2,000 points, so if you get that one, then you only have to get all the nets except two. If you miss that one, you have to get all the nets except for that one.

Skill Challenge – A barricade moves back and forth with yellow posts on it. Lob the ball over the barricade, between the posts, to earn points. You have four players that you control in the box (and if the ball goes out of the box, then you have to start this challenge over by the way), and the more you lob pass the ball between these four players, the more points you can get from getting the ball over the barricade and between the posts.

========
CROSSING
========
Bronze – Kick the ball through the tires just once and you will have enough points. Use the X/Square button to accomplish this, depending on platform.

Silver – There are three targets, two defenders, and a bucket. If you knock down all three targets, you will get enough points. The bucket is worth a ton of points. Hitting the defenders with the ball will subtract from your total points.

Gold – Do a low cross by triple tapping the button, and do a high cross by double tapping the button. Use this knowledge to get as many points as possible. You need a total of 8,000 points to pass this one. The big nets and the small nets are both worth 1,000 points. Hit the moving target for even more points.

Skill Challenge – Use crossing passes. Hold the left bumper while pressing the X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) button. Pass the ball to your teammates and then have them go for a goal. Hit the targets in the goal as well as simply make a goal to earn bonus points. Make as many points as possible before the time limit runs out.

=========
DEFENDING
=========
Bronze – Speed up at first using the right trigger. Get in front of the kicker and then tap the X button (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) to slide tackle the ball away from them. Do this to all four of the ball carriers to complete this medal.

Silver – Now it’s time to learn about the standing tackle. To perform a standing tackle, use the B button (Xbox) or Circle butotn (PlayStation). Same concept as the previous medal applies, except with the standing tackle instead of the sliding tackle.

Gold – There are three sections in front of the goal. Every time one of the opposing team gets into one of these sections, you will lose points. You will also lose points for failed tackles. You need to stop each person with either a slide or a standing tackle before they can drain away your points. An illegal tackle or one of the opposing team members making it to the goal or beyond will result in you failing the challenge.

Skill Challenge – Just a quick series of tackling that you have to do.

==================
ADVANCED DEFENDING
==================
Bronze – You know those jerks in the previous drills that kept taking the ball from you and kikcing it into oblivion? Now you get to be one of those jerks! Use the tackles you learned in the previous drill challenges to stop them from scoring. Failed tackles and goals by the other team will deduct points from your score.

Silver – Same idea as before, except now its 1 on 1, whereas the bronze medal had you deal with a 2 on 2 scenario.

Gold – 2 on 1 scenario now. You are the “1″, by the way. Get the ball away from them to get points.

Skill Challenge – This challenge just throws the bronze, silver, and gold scenarios from Advanced Defending at you again. It sees how many total points you can score within the time limit by redoing these same challenges repeatedly.

==========
GOALKEEPER
==========
Bronze – Learn how to block with a goalie. Use the left stick to move the goalie around and use the right stick to dive to block the ball. The blue cursor indicates where the ball is going to come at you from. Near the end of this drill, the blue cursor will disappear, making it so you have to judge for yourself where the ball is going to land. You will lose points if the person scores on you.

Silver – Use the goalie kicks (X/Square) and goalie throws (A/X) to knock down boxes. You get points the more that you knock them down.

Gold – There will be eight attackers that all try to score on you. Block their attempts at scoring to gain points. Lose points if they score on you.

Skill Challenge – There is an 80 second time limit. A ton of balls are sent flying at you and you have to just keep trying to block them in order to get as many points as possible within the 80 second time limit.

==========
FREE KICKS
==========
Bronze – Hit the ball beyond the defenders and into the goal, specifically hitting the targets to get points. You can’t just do any kick, though. You have to do special kicks. You can push the left stick in a direction with a combination of the B/Circle button. You can hold the left bumper while pushing the left stick and pressing the B/Circle button as well for your choices of special shots.

Silver – Avoid the obstales and make as many points as possible by hitting the targets in the goal.

Gold – Pass between your different teammates, avoid the obstacles, and attempt to hit the targets like before.

Skill Challenge – This is another “knock down the boxes” challenge. This time you have to do it from the perspective of a free kick, however.

=========
PENALTIES
=========
Bronze – While doing a penalty kick, first press B/Circle to make the white marker hit the green part of the meter in the bottom left hand corner. Then quickly use the left stick to move the blue cursor to one of the targets to score points. Extra points are rewarded if you manage to hit the target and the net behind the target as well.

Silver – There are four buckets. You have to penalty shot the ball into each bucket for points. A blue cursor will accompany you for the first few attempts. After that, the blue cursor disappears, which makes it a bit tougher.

Gold – This medal requires you to do the “stutter step” penalty shot. That means you charge up your shot initially, then charge it up again. Perform this successfully and hit the targets that are inside of the goal.

Skill Challenge – Hit boxes down with the penalty shot perspective, while avoiding the defenders, of course.
