Forza Horizon 2 is a massive open world racing game that features hundreds of different cars to collect and use in the various events throughout the game world. This guide is designed to help you get the most out of your Forza Horizon 2 experience, and with it, you should be able to complete all of the game and obtain a 100% rating.

There are also Kinect controls as well. You can speak with “Anna”, the GPS lady in your car, and ask her to do things using your voice so you don’t have to manually do it by stopping whatever you’re doing and opening up the map. A pretty nifty feature, if I do say so myself.
As you play the game, you will earn both XP and skill points. XP will level you up. Each time you level up, you get a wheel spin. A wheel spin is a spin on a jackpot machine that will get you free cars or bonus CR to spend upgrading your cars or purchasing new ones. Skill points are earned by doing various things in races and while free-roaming that earn you points and can be boosted with a multiplier that increases the more skills you chain together. A meter at the top of the screen will pop up every time that you gain more skill points. Filling this meter will grant you a skill point that you can spend to level up your abilities and purchase new skills.

Forza Horizon 2 is a unique racing game. It is a free roaming, open world game that has a variety of different activities to partake in all across the sprawling, open world map.
======
EVENTS
======
Events are orange blips on your world map. The events in question come in a variety of different flavors. Entering an event will trigger a series of events for you to complete subsequently. You are scored based on how you finish in each event, and then after you have completed all of the events for that particular championship, you will be given a gold, silver, or bronze rating.
After you complete an event, you will be asked if you want to face a “rival” player. This can be someone on your friend’s list or someone random online that has completed the event. You race against their ghost. You can get bonus CR if you choose to complete these and are successful.
You need to collect 15 championship to enter the Forza Horizon finale.
The events are comprised of different race types, which themselves are different depending on the type of vehicle you are driving. Many of the types do overlap, however.
Circuit – This kind of race has laps. You have to hit the checkpoints as you move along the track that is on a set area of the open world.
Cross Country – Off road racing, checkpoint-based sprints.
Scramble – A combination of the Sprint and Circuit races.
Sprint – Sprint is a single lap race. The progress you have on the track is seen in the upper left hand corner of the screen as you are doing the race. Once again, you will need to hit all of the checkpoints on the way to the finish line.
Street Race – A street race is as it sounds. Typical racing rules, but you also have to deal with other traffic on the road.
Trail Race – The terrain that you race on will constantly be changing as you move from off road to on road. The game suggests “maintaining your speed” is the key to victory here, but I treat them like any other race and do just fine.
Each region has 28 different trophies that you can earn. The type of car you are driving determines which trophies you can go after. These are the car types available in the game:
Classic Muscle
GT
Hothatch
Iconic Rally
Modern Muscle
Offroad
Super Cars
Sports Cars
Track Toys
World Classics
There also types WITHIN these types. If you need to purchase a new car to enter a championship, you will be taken to the appropriate menus in order to get that accomplished.
In addition, these are the different regions in the game or “Road Trips”:
Castelletto
Montellino
Nice Massena
Saint-Martin
San Giovanni
Sisteron

SPECIAL EVENTS
==============
Completing championships often open up special events, which can be of a variety of flavors.
Barn Find – Barn Finds are barns that are hidden throughout the world of Forza Horizon 2. Sometimes you will get told the general area of where a barn is hidden. Find it to get the free car that is inside.
Car Meet – Car Meets are special areas that you go to that will allow you to check out the cars of 11 other players. You can check out their cars in detail here. A showdown race will occur, and at that point, everyone that opts into it by the time runs out will be sent into an impromtu online race from everyone that showed up at the meet. Completing the first Car Meet will unlock other Car Meet events for you to complete throughout the game world without having to earn more championships.
Showcases – Special races against unordinary drivers. For example, there is one showcase where you race against jets.

FORZA HUB
=========
At each of the major regions in the game, you can enter the Forza Hub. The Forza Hub is accessed by driving the purple Forza Horizon icon on the map. This is the place where you end up when completing the Road Trip to that particular region, by the way.
Any championships that are available for you to can be seen at the Forza Hub. However, there are two other very important functions of the Forza Hub: the Garage and the Showcase.
In the Garage, you will find the option to upgrade your car. When you click on “Upgrade”, you can choose to customize the upgrade process, or go with the streamlined route, or the “quick upgrade”. The quick upgrade will compile the parts necessary needed to upgrade your car’s class, so there is more freedom as to which parts you add to your car if you choose the custom option.
The degree to which you can customize your car is exhausting. You can make changes to the engine, improve handling, change the drivetrain, edit the tires and rims, alter the aero and the general appearance of the vehicle, and use conversion upgrades to drastically change the way your car looks and handles.
You can get even MORE detail-oriented if you want. The tiniest details of how your car runs and operates can be edited by “tuning”. To start the tuning process, tap the X button while in the garage. You can also access tuning through the tile in the main garage menu.
You can save multiple setups for a single car and switch between them. To do this, you first need to save the way you customized the car. Do this by clicking the View button on the Xbox One controller. Then load it from the main garage menu whenever you want to switch to a different upgrade set.
The garage also houses the cars that you own. You can check their stats, search through them, and switch between them at will. The amount of CR that your car is worth is displayed on the left.
Designs and Paints is the section where you can go to edit the look of your cars. You can do really comprehensive and insane paint jobs here. Your designs are all stored and can be shared with others online. Furthermore, you can scroll through the popular designs that other people made and choose to download them for your cars yourself. There are some really wicked designs already that people have created and uploaded to the Forza Horizon 2 servers, so be sure to check them out.
Finally, the final function of the garage is to see the secret cars that you found in the barns. There are barns you can find that are hidden throughout the world. Find the barns and you can snag the car that is inside. More on that in the Collectibles section of this guide.
And then there’s the Autoshow. The Autoshow is where you can scroll through cars and choose to buy new ones. You should try to get at least one of each different type of car as early on as possible so that you can access all of the different types of championships.

STORY WALKTHROUGH
=================
Forza Horizon 2′s story is told over the course of 15 different championships. You need 15 championships in order to unlock the Horizon Finale.
—————
GETTING STARTED
—————
The first thing you have to do in the game is participate in a road trip. Road trips are casual affairs. They aren’t races, but there will be other cars on the road going to the same place as you. Complete this first road trip and then you will be asked to pick your first car out of three possibilities. The car you choose and use to drive with will determine the times of cars you will race against in the single player events.
With your car handy, drive to the first event. This first event is a sprint race. Complete it and then you will be asked to complete another road trip. This road trip will take you to Castelletto, the next major region in the game. This is where Forza Horizon 2 really opens up and you have some choice as to how to proceed.
———–
CASTELLETTO
———–
In Castelletto, you have to complete three events. After you have completed the events, you will be asked to participate in the Showcase.
SHOWCASE 1 – This is a race against some show jets. It’s a fairly simple sprint race, all in all. Don’t stress if it says you are in position 2/2. Pretty much every time you hit a check point, you will be jumped ahead to the first position anyway.
Completing the showcase will allow get you the Ferrari that you used during the Showcase.
————
NICE MASSENA
————
From there, you will do a road trip to Nice Massena. Upon arrival here, you will once again be thrust into various events. Completing four events here will get you a championship, but you won’t unlock a showcase. Instead, you will be directed to a Car Meet.
Go to the Car Meet. You don’t have to actually participate in it if you don’t want to, but you are supposed to go there so that you can be made aware of the Car Meets in the game.
When you’re done with that, go back to the Forza Hub in Nice. Enter it and you will be asked to start a road trip to the next destination, which is the quaint place of Sisteron.
Before that, however, you have to choose which championship you should go after once you arrive there. Make your decision. You may have to purchase a new car depending on the decision you’ve made. Doing this will allow you to access more features in the garage. Complete the road trip to Sisteron.
——–
SISTERON
——–
Various activities are available as soon as you arrive in Sisteron. However, the first Barn Find is pointed out to you. I recommend that you go snag the collectible car waiting inside for you. Scroll down to the Collectibles section of the guide for more information on how to find that particular barn. Otherwise, start completing the events. There are four here for you to complete before you can go for the championship.
SHOWCASE 2 – Train in vain. Yes, you literally race against a train. Just like the first showcase, it seems a lot more difficult than it actually is. For the vast majority of this race, you are probably going to be behind the train. This is due to the tough corners that you come across. When you come to the corners, slow WAAAAAY down. Rewind a bit if you need to in order to get the turns right. The race really gets important at the very final stretch. As long as you keep RT held in and push the left stick forward, you should be able to JUST beat the train to the finish line.
Your next road trip is back to the festival. This marks the end of the your first day in Forza Horizon. At the start of the next day, you will be asked to join or create a club. Clubs are like clans in Forza Horizon 2. There are bonus rewards for doing this. You can choose to sign up for one now, later, or you can also choose to just never both with it as well.
———-
MONTELLINO
———-
The road to Montellino is another road trip, this one the longest one yet.
You are asked to try out a new car so that you can do different championships.
I recommend doing this as it will make the game more interesting as you go
for your fourth championship title.
Ben gives you a new objective to go after once you arrive. He asks you to snap
pictures of 20 different cars that are present at the festival. Each picture
you take will net you some cash. The first picture you take is of the car you
currently are driving.
To take the picture, enter “picture mode”. Do this by holding the “up” button
on the d-pad. Then adjust any of the settings you’d like and snap the
picture. The quality of the picture doesn’t matter to Ben, just that a new
car is in the picture. Technically, you can just go through all your cars and
keep snapping pictures of them, though faster ways to get the 20 pictures is
by starting the events you need for the next championship and then taking
photos of the cars in bulk. You may need to switch to a different car type in
the meantime as you will pretty much only see cars in your class in races and
out on the open world, with some exceptions. When you hit 20, you will get
bonus CR, and then you will be challenged to photograph 40 cars.
Anyway, you once again have to complete four events. Do so and you win the
championship and can start your next road trip!
————
SAINT-MARTIN
————
You get a lot of time for this road trip. Once you arrive, you will immediately
start your next leg of championship events. The second Barn Find will pop up
during this, and you should continue snapping photos as well. Otherwise just
complete the four events and win your next championship!
————
SAN GIOVANNI
————
Another standard area. Four events. One championship. Get it done. Drive back
to the festival hub to begin the next day.
——————-
BACK TO CASTELLETTO
——————-
This road trip only gives you 10 minutes to get back to Castelletto. Choose what kind of car you want to use for the next championship, and then complete the trip back to Castelletto to start doing the events. Win another championship to unlock the next road trip, which will see you going back to Montellino. Completing this championship will unlock the “general area” of where the third Barn Find is.
——————
BACK TO MONTELLINO
——————
There’s finally something different about this time through! First complete the four events and get your championship. 7 more to go, which means you are over halfway to the Horizon Finale. But in the meantime, there is the third showcase to attend to, and this time you are racing a hot air balloon! Scratch that, a FLEET of hot air balloons!
SHOWCASE 3 – The race against the hot air balloons is actually easier than the last two showcases in my opinion. The balloons move prettys low, so even though you have to overtake 37 of them, you can do so pretty easily. It may be tempting to go through the field and ignore the track as the checkpoints as they are spread fairly far apart, but doing this will result in you being forced to your last checkpoint. Don’t get worried if you get to the finish line and it looks like the balloons might take the finish, as they do move very slowly and you probably still have plenty of time to take first and go to your next road trip.
——————–
BACK TO NICE MASSENA
——————–
This road trip is even longer than before, and you have a little over 10 minutes to complete it. The roads are pretty straight so you can get some really crazy speeds on this road trip.
Anyway, you just have to complete another four events. Return to the hub to start a road trip back to the festival. You will have to drive 6.5 miles to get there. Another day done.
—————-
BACK TO SISTERON
—————-
Just complete four events. Get the championship. The next Barn Find will be pointed out to you at this point.
——————–
BACK TO SAN GIOVANNI
——————–
Four events. Complete them. Four more championships to go after that.
SHOWCASE 4 – North by Northwest. This is another race against a flying vehicle, but this time it is only one plane that you have to deal with. You will be in position 2/2 for the majority of this race, but don’t stress out. After the last checkpoint, you are pretty much guaranteed to be shot up to position 1/2 and it is an easy sprint to the finish line after that.
——————–
BACK TO SAINT-MARTIN
——————–
Four events. One championship. Completing this will really get you to the home stretch of reaching the Horizon Finale. Only three more championships left. Return to the festival via road trip after getting this next championship to start the next day.
————–
NICE MASSENA 3
————–
Win the next championship to unlock the fifth and final showcase.
SHOWCASE 5 – Storm Chaser. You versus a jumbo jet. This is the final showcase. It will be storming during this event. There will be sections where you are in position 1/2 and times when you are in position 2/2, inevitably. What really matters is when you near the finish line. It will be a neck and neck race between you and jet. The jet may look like it’s going to win, but don’t get disheartened; the jet is fast, but you definitely have a chance to speed ahead of it as your car is able to cover more distance quicker, as the jet actually slows down near the finish line as if it is attempting to land.
Completing the showcase will unlock the next Barn Find rumor. Refer to the collectibles section for help finding it.
————-
CASTELLETTO 3
————-
Two championships left. Complete another four events…Almost to the Horizon Finale!
————–
SAN GIOVANNI 3
————–
The final championship. Good luck!
————–
HORIZON FINALE
————–
When you arrive at the Horizon Finale, you get to choose your favorite car out of all of the cars that you have collected so far in the game. The people that you race will be using cars with similar specs to the one that you choose. The Horizon Finale, by the way, is considered a “Street Race” type, and you have to get in either first, second, or third place in order to successfully complete it.
The Horizon Finale lasts about 20 minutes. It is an extremely long race that will go to pretty insane speeds. Always look at the radar so you know what is coming up ahead so that you can prepare properly. This is basically a challenge of dexterity because of how long the race is.
Completing this race makes you the Horizon Champion. You now get to decide where you go on each “road trip” as you continue to collect championships, of which there are 168 in the game. There’s still plenty to do and see in Forza Horizon 2, and the rest of this guide will help you complete it all!

3. Bucket List
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Spread throughout the Forza Horizon 2 map are Bucket List challenges where you have to use specific vehicles for rewards. You will unlock the ability to start completing these challenges by progressing through the “story”, and then as you continue to unlock championships, you will also continue to unlock new Bucket List missions to complete.
The objectives for the Bucket List challenges repeat. There are 30 of them, and they are all one of these types of challenges:
Destination – Your goal is to drive a long distance within a certain amount of time.
Skill Mastery – The various skills in the game and your ability to pull them off are put to the test here. You are given a set path to drive down, and you are tasked with completing X amount of skills within the time limit.
Skill Score – Keep doing skill-based maneuvers to try to beat the high score. This is good practice anyway to help you gain enough skill points to purchase new perks.
Speed Trap – Break the target speed at the designated speed trap.
Speed Zone – Break the target speed, except this time you have to do so through a speed zone, which are slightly different than Speed Traps. You can find more info about Speed Zones in the “Collectibles” section of the guide.

4. Collectibles
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
A staple of the open world genre are collectibles. Forza Horizon 2 has no shortage of those, believe me. There is plenty to discover in the Forza Horizon 2 version of Europe, and this guide will help you find everything that there is to find.
======
BOARDS
======
There are two types of boards in the game. There are XP boards and fast travel boards. Conveniently, whenever you drive by one of these boards, they will be permanently etched on your map.
There are three types of XP boards. 1000XP, 7500XP, and 15000XP. As you probably figured, smashing into these XP boards will net you bonus XP.
The fast travel boards allow you to fast-travel to the various Horizon hubs around the map. The more fast travel boards you break in a particular region, the cheaper it is to fast travel there. Yes, fast-traveling does cost CR.
In order to initiate fast travel, open your map. Select one of the Horizon hubs, and then press the X button to fast-travel.
There are 50 1000XP boards, 35 7500XP boards, and 15 1500XP boards in the game. There’s also 50 fast travel boards to smash as well.
==========
BARN FINDS
==========
Before you begin the third championship in the story, you will be told about the first Barn Find. After that, you can go out and continue to look for the rest of the hidden Barn Finds. The Barn Finds are barns hidden in the game world that, once found, yield a free new car. There are 10 of them total in thegame.
BARN FIND 1 – The first Barn find will pop up as an objective to be completed after you enter Sisteron. You will get a tip on the probable whereabouts of the barn. Go to that area. Entering that area from the west, you’ll want to go to the end of the pink field farthest north, facing east. That sounds a bit confusing, but whip out the world map and you will have a much better idea of what I am talking about. Simply drive up to the barn doors to collect the first car, an Alpine A110 1600s, though Ashley has to fix it first.
BARN FIND 2 – This one is in the Montellino region. Look at your map. Just north of the “MONTELLINO” words on the map, you can see a speed trap. Follow the road north from the speed trap, and you will see that it starts to veer a bit to the right. Drive to that spot, where the veering begins. Then head west, into the thick of the trees. You will bump into a stone fence. This fence is surrounding the next barn. Follow the fench until you get to the opening, then approach the barn to trigger the cut-scene. Ashley will once again have to restore the vehicle before you can use it in races.
BARN FIND 3 – Over in San Giovanni, there is a road to the west that has a speed trap. Drive to this speed trap with your vehicle pointing north. There is a hill and tree-filled area to the east. Make sure you’re using a car with AWD so that you can get up the hill. Right on top of the hill is the third barn and an army jeep to add to your collection of cars!
BARN FIND 4 – This Barn Find will be in Italia. There is a road going right through the highlighted area. Put your cursor around the center of that road, and then move it south to the tip of the tree line. This is where you need to go. This barn is not has hidden as the last couple, but it is still somewhat shrouded by the trees.
BARN FIND 5 – JUST north of the San Giovanni car meet is this barn.
BARN FIND 6 – There is a Car Meet in this area. From the car meet, follow the road south until the trees on the map start to clear up. Head east and you should be able to spot this barn without too much trouble. The reason for this is that it is out in the open, in a large field with a shed that is there for farm equipment anyway. There’s even a big ass blue tractor to make spotting this one even easier!
BARN FIND 7 – South of the “A” in Italia. There is a pink strip in the middle of the trees that indicates a road. Go to the center of this road and then go south a little more into what looks like trees on your world map to snag this Barn Find.
BARN FIND 8 – Okay, this one is slightly more difficult to tell you where it is just using text, but I am going to try. First of all, located the Bowler EXR S Bucket List Challenge. It is a “HARD” difficulty one that is in the southeast portion of the map, northeast of Castelletto. From there, move your cursor to the west until you hit a body of water. At that point, drop straight down until you get the trees. The barn is in this area.
BARN FIND 9 – Thanfully this one is much easier to find than the last. Within the highlighted area, check out the group of trees that is kind of shaped like the letter Y. At the northern most tip of these trees is where you will be able to find this barn.
BARN FIND 10 – This barn find is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the highlighted area. If you need more instruction, place the cursor in between the letters “C” and “E” in FRANCE. Then go straight north until you are about in the middle of the highlighted area so that you can get a more exact idea of where you need to drive.
=====
ROADS
=====
Where you’re going…you need roads. You do. A lot. Because this game is all about driving on roads. Part of the progression in the game requires you to find every road, and there’s 315 roads in the game.
Whenever you drive on a road that you’ve never driven on before, the game will notify you and update the the number of roads that you’ve driven on. It will also compare the amount of roads that you’ve driven on with the ones that your friends have discovered as well.
=====================
SPEED ZONES AND TRAPS
=====================
The final collectible-type system in the game are the speed zones and traps. They function similarly; when you hit them, the game records how fast you were going and then throws that information into leaderboards like other aspects of the game.
The difference between speed zones and speed traps is simple. Speed zones are specified areas, with cameras marking the beginning and end of them, and the goal is to build up speed while in that zone. Your final speed is marked at the end when you zip through the cameras. Speed traps don’t give you a set area to build up speed, which can be both advantageous as well as a disadvantage in other regards.

The list of cars in Forza Horizon 2 is absolutely staggering. Each car has its own set of stats, its own class, and its own designs that can be placed onto it.
The following is a list of every car in the game and its default stats before upgrades.
Cars can be heavily customized in this game, so keep in mind that you can drastically alter the stats of each vehicle.

Forza Horizon 2 features robust online offerings. The Drivatars utilize the
online in the game, but there is much more to see and do as well.

ARENA
=====
When doing Online Free Roam, you can see the Arena icons, which are purple
icons on the map. Go to these to then start one of two different possible
match types:
Infected
King
=========
CAR MEETS
=========
Car Meets aren’t accessible until you reach a certain point in the main story,
which itself consists of the first 15 championships in the game.
When you unlock the Car Meets, you can go to any of them on the map. They are
represented by a blue square icon and the letter P. When you reboot the
game, you are often automatically placed into a Car Meet.
During Car Meets, you can choose to compete in races or just check out the
cars of the other online players that have shown up.
================
ONLINE FREE ROAM
================
Free roaming, except online. This means that you will see other people driving
around, and you can do things that you would do in solo free roam as well
such as destroy boards, grind out skills for skill points, and the whole
nine yards.
There are a ton of icons that will litter the map in online free roam mode.
These all represent various activities that you can choose to participate in
for rewards. It is much of the same content that you experience when playing
solo, but with the added benefit of other players being around.

By completing skill moves, you earn skill points. These skill points can then be spent on purchasing new abilities for your driver that will improve various aspects about the game.
The way that purchasing a new skill works is that by purchasing a skill, represented by a single square on a grid full of skills, you will then unlock the right to purchase the other skills that surrounded the one you just bought.
Since a grid format is difficult to lay out for you in this guide, I am instead going to list the skills by tiers. They are separated based on how much they cost to purchase.
