In Sunset Overdrive, Primary Missions are the missions in the game that advance the main storyline.
You can replay primary missions. Simply select the tab from the Log section in the pause screen. You will then be able to replay missions you’ve already completed in order to get a higher place on the leaderboards as well as earn extra cash to buy items in the game.
Before you can start any primary missions, you will have to customize your character.

HORROR NIGHT
============
REWARDS: Flaming Compensator
This is more or less just a tutorial mission. At the start, you are taught basics of movement in the game. Use the X button to roll or “dodge” enemy attacks. Tap A twice to vault over the fence when you get to it, and then tap A when your character lands on the fan to get a boosted jump.
Next up is learning about the rail system. To start grinding on a rail, use the X button. You can also switch between the bottom of the rail and the top of the rail by pressing X again. Pull the left stick back and tap X to change directions on the rail.
Combat is also introduced during this tutorial mission. Use the Flaming Compensator to take out the OD Mutants. You have to kill eight of them while simultaneously grinding, which isn’t too difficult to accomplish.
A Giant Mutant will show up next. This guy will throw rocks at you to try to keep you from grinding. Whenever there is a red circle on the ground, that indicates an area where a rock is about to fall, so you will want to get out of there quickly to avoid your traversal being interrupted and to avoid taking damage as well.
Just shoot the Giant Mutant until a cut-scene occurs. When that happens, rush to your apartment building. Approach the door and then press the Y button to get inside.

================
AWESOMEPOCALYPSE
================
REWARDS: Crowbar, Dirty Harry, High Fidelity
Walter will offer you a crowbar. Pick it up with the Y button. This is your melee weapon. Use B to perform melee attacks. Kill the OD Mutants that climb on the roof using melee attacks until Walter is satisfied that you know what you are doing.
Now follow Walter to the basketball court. Upon arriving, dive bomb the crate that Walter wants you to break. Do this by jumping into the air (A) and then slamming down onto it (B). Inside the crate is a new weapon called the High Fidelity, which shoots records at enemies.
Switch weapons by using the weapon wheel. Hold in LB to bring up the wheel and then select High Fidelity. Jump on the fence surrounding the basketball court and start grinding around. Wait for Walter to explain the objective and cover the center of the court with Overcharge, which will attract the OD Mutants to the area.
Hold the left trigger in while grinding to slow down a bit and line up your shots better. Use High Fidelity to kill the mutants. Kill them until they stop coming, all the while collecting the Overcharge that is falling from them, and then follow Walter to Two Hat Jack, the weapon salesman.
Right now you can only purchase the magnum revolver weapon called Dirty Harry from Two Hat Jack. Purchase this weapon for 10 Overcharge. When that’s done with, equip it. Go speak with Floyd, the absent-minded scientist by following Walter again.
Before you guys can really talk, the Scab show up. They are trying to break into your area. Get on the rails and then go over to them. The Scab can shoot back at you, so be sure to stay moving. Fire at them from the rails using the Dirty Harry to kill them.
When they’re dead, return to Floyd and Walter. Talk to them to start up the next mission.

==================
ONE MAN’S TRASH…
==================
REWARDS: $1000, 1000 Overcharge
Floyd wants you to collect 10 Vat parts from overturned Overcharge trucks. Go to the first area and you will find some mutants drinking the overcharge on the ground. Kill them. They are way too concerned with drinking the pop to even pay attention to you.
When they’re dead, just walk around grab the parts. There’s five of them in this first area. They look like glowing little tubes. When you have them all, hop on the railroad tracks and start going towards the next one. By the way, it is at this point that the game teachs you about boosting on rails, which you can accomplish by pressing the right bumper.
At any rate, boost along the rails and you’ll come up to a couple of sections with red barrels. What do you do with red barrels? The answer is shoot the ever-loving shit out of them. This will make them explode, killing all of the nearby mutants. There will be three red barrels that you come across while on these tracks. You are also taught how to melee while grinding, which is also very helpful while on the railroad tracks.
As you near the next truck, watch out for the Poppers. These are a new kind of mutant that is created when one drinks too much of the Overcharge. They will explode when they get close to you, so you should shoot them afar to kill them safely.
Snag the Vat parts immediately and start making your way back to Floyd before all the other Poppers start rushing in down the hill. Speak with Floyd to deliver the parts to him and complete the mission.

AMP IT UP
=========
REWARDS: Damage Dodge Roll, Stun Rounds
This mission is extremely short and easy. Just grab the three Fizzie Balloons and then take them to the amp chamber. Place them inside to complete the mission.
To Top
==========
AMPTASTIC!
==========
REWARDS: Bounce-Splosion, Bear Force One, Fired!
You are taught how to equip both a Hero amp and a Weapon amp. The amps were rewards from the previous mission. The Hero amp gives you the ability to have an electrical charge when you do a roll, which you can use to damage enemies as well as knock them down.
The Stun Rounds are an amp for the High Fidelity weapon. Use them to stun enemies. However, you can just use amps whenever you’d like. You need to build up your style meter.
How do you do that? Well, head over to the parking lot as instructed. Alternate between grinding on rails and bouncing on the vehicles to build up the style meter. Once you hit style level 1, you can start using the roll. Drop to the ground and roll through the mutants that are drinking up the big orange puddle of Overcharge. Plow into at least 10 of them to satisfy this requirement of the mission.
Stun Rounds require you to hit style level 2. Do this by continuing to chain together traversal techniques as well as killing enemies. Shoot the hell out of the enemies once you have the Stun Rounds activated and keep doing so until you’ve satisfied that requirement as well.
Finally, you have to just kill the rest of the mutants that rush into the area. This shouldn’t take long if you use the information you just learned about amps to your advantage.
Return to Floyd. Talk with him to begin the next section. This is a wave-based battle. There are numerous barricades and traps designed to protect the Vat from the mutants. You have to keep it protected for 3 minutes and kill the mutants that try to get too close.
Whenever a barricade is being attacked, you will be notified of it by a yellow caution sign on the map. Go that area immediately and kill all of the mutants there. Things get really tough when a Hurker shows up. Remember the giant mutant from before? Turns out those things are called Hurkers, and they mean business.
You are now much better equipped to deal with them, though. Use the Flaming Compensator to light it on fire, then switch to the Dirty Harry and shoot at it while it’s on fire to deal the most damage. Do this while zipping around everywhere to avoid its attacks. If the mutants are getting close to the vat, you can afford to abandon the battle with the Hurker momentarily to go protect it.
When the time runs out, assuming the Vat didn’t take too much damage, the mission is complete and your reward is more amps! Be sure to equip these new amps before continuing.

=========
A WAY OUT
=========
REWARDS: $1000, 1000 Overcharge
Walter is having trouble fighting some Scabs on an overpass. Go there and help him fight them off. For 60 seconds, you are given the maximum amount of style, so you can go crazy with your amps for a bit to help thin out the herd of Scabs.
There’s also plenty of explosive barrels around to utilize, by the way.
The key is to just keep moving back and forth on the rail to avoid taking damage yourself. When they’re all dead, follow Walter over to the glider. A cut-scene will occur, and after that cut-scene concludes, you will be taught about how to enter a Photo Booth to do the online co-op mode.
For now though, let’s go back to the Brewery, aka the base of operations for the time being. Instead of grinding back there, let’s just fast-travel. Open up the map, select the brewery, and then choose to travel there. Talk with Floyd to complete the mission.

============
A NEW FRIEND
============
REWARDS: 1000 Overcharge, TNTeddy, Blazer Open
Go to the docks as per Floyd’s instruction in search of a new propeller. When you arrive, you will take notice of Sam as he is being chased by mutants. Pursue him across the docks. You will be introduced to a couple of new platforming/traversal techniques here. When hanging below a rail, tap X and then immediately press A for a boosted flip jump. When you see a horizontal bar, tap X to use it to swing across to the next area.
Use these skills to get your way over to Sam. Sam will continue to run away, eventually hiding himself in a storage locker. Kill the mutants outside of the locker, and then approach the locker door and press the Y button to open it, which will make Sam come out.
Talk with Sam for a minute. Then protect him as the two of you move through the docks. The first threat is a new enemy type called the Blower. The Blower is a ranged enemy that will shoot green globs at you from far away. Dodge out of the way of the globs to avoid taking damage from them. The Flaming Compensator will kill these things with one hit most of the time.
Continue moving through the docks with Sam. Eventually, the two of you will get the idea to escape via train. In this area, use the explosive barrels to thin the herd out a bit, and continue to follow Sam, this time to the train.
On one of the train cars is a chest for you to open. Open it up and then your character will build the TNTeddy weapon, which is basically like a grenade launcher in the Sunset Overdrive universe. Use the TNTeddy to kill the new wave of mutants that show up while Sam is trying to get the train started.
When Sam finally gets the train started, get on top of it. Sam will run over pretty much everything, but it’s fun to use the TNTeddy to shoot the enemies as well. There is a Scab outpost at one point blocking the tracks that has a couple of explosive barrels you can shoot to wipe them all out with a single explosion, so be sure to take advantage of that as you continue to ride the rails.
When the train comes to a stop, follow Sam to his base of operations.

BORA BORA WATER
===============
REWARDS: $1000, 2000 Overcharge
Dirk knows a lot about aerodynamics, but he’s not going to shell out the info for nothing. You gotta get him some Bora Bora Water, the most expensive (and purest?) water on the planet! Okay, so exit the Sam’s base of operations and head to the Bora Bora Water factory.
Upon arriving, it will be discovered that the place is flooded out with crap. Go to the release valve and turn it. This will start to flood everything out, but you have to knock away the safety valves first. Do this by grinding to them and then hitting the pipes with a melee attack. Then jump on the button on the top of the building before the time runs out. You have PLENTY of time to accomplish this, so no worries.
Now go to the second valve and do the same thing. Go to the third one and you will be interrupted by a clog in the system. Head over to the clog to find out that it is a new enemy type called the Spawner. Use the TNTeddy to kill the Spawner, and then return to the valve and complete it just like you did the other two.
Go to the water dispenser. Press the button to lift the shutter and then grab the water. Now you just have to get back to the base without dying, but there are mutants everywhere, so that makes it somewhat more difficult. Remember to stick to the rails as much as possible; walking down the street will make you as good as dead.
Deliver the water to complete the mission and reap your rewards.

BOO-BOO ROVERDRIVE
==================
REWARDS: $1000, 2000 Overcharge
Another spoiled rich kid, Margaret, needs some convincing before she will be willing to help you out. In order to get her to get off her lazy ass and help, you need to find her dog Boo-Boo. Sam suggests checking out the local dog park, so go there first.
When you arrive, kill all the mutants in the area. Then check the little igloo dog house thing to find Boo-Boo, the robot dog. Boo-Boo won’t just help you out, so you have to first get the Cutie Kitty in order to lure it from its igloo.
Go to the nearby toy store. Kill the Scabs there and snag the toy. Return to the dog park and throw the toy in front of the igloo. You will then lure out Boo-Boo. To make this process of luring Boo-Boo across the city more entertaining, you will then build the Kitty Cannon!
Practice it by shooting it onto the various obstacles in the park, such as the trampolines, ramps, and hurdles. When Boo-Boo successfully performs three tricks, start luring him across the city back to the base.
Whatever you do during this part, DO NOT EQUIP ANY OTHER WEAPONS. Doing so is suicide as Boo-Boo will label you as a dangerous threat and will then try to kill you. However, Boo-Boo itself is an incredibly dangerous weapon for you to utilize as well. Shoot the Kitty Cannon at the mobs of enemies to kill them.
You will have to deal with mutants first, then Scabs again. Later on you will have to deal with THREE Spawners simultaneously, but the combination of Boo-Boo and the Kitty Cannon makes them extremely easy to kill. When all of the enemies are dead outside of the base, you are allowed to go back inside with Boo-Boo.

MAX’S PARENTS
=============
REWARDS: $1000, 3000 Overcharge
When starting this mission, you will have a new ability to dash across the water. To do this, press the X button right before you hit the surface of the water.
Head over to the apartment building where Max’s parents live. Clear the bottom area of Scabs, then work your way to the top. You do this through a combination of platforming and using harpoons.
To use a harpoon, go up to it and press Y. Then aim it at a designated spot, and pull the right trigger to launch a line. Use these lines to work your way to the top of the first building.
There is a sort of harpoon puzzle near the end. Shoot one line across, then go across and kill the enemies. Take the next harpoon and shoot it back the other way. Then from this building, use the next harpoon to shoot BACK across AGAIN.
There will be explosive barrels behind a barricade here. Shoot the barrels to blow up the barricade. You can now harpoon back across the other way and make it onto the roof now.
When you get to the top, you will have to battle a new type of Scab enemy called the Scab Rushers. These are armored melee-focused Scabs. Kill them and the other Scabs that show up, and then make your way over to the top of the next building.
First kill all the enemies here. When they’re dead, open the panic room door. You will be blasted off the roof, so make sure you land on an umbrella or other bouncy surface.
Loot will be everywhere now, so just run around and collect it all. Grab the recording that was left by Max’s parents. Listen to it and make your way back to the base.

================================
BUCK NATIONAL VS. THE APOCALYPSE
================================
REWARDS: 1000 Overcharge, Bucky Shirt, Bucky Gloves
First talk with Sam, and then talk with Floyd. Floyd will tell you where to get the processor needed for the 3D printer that they are going to use to make you a new propeller.
Go to the hillbilly’s tower. You now have the ability to super jump if you tap A again just before hitting a bouncy surface. Use this to climb into the tower.
When that scene is over go to the challenge called Episode 1 – Buck National vs. The Apocalypse. Complete it with at least a bronze rating and then return to Buck. The processor you need is on the desk next to his, so grab it and return it to Sam.
There is a section of this guide that covers the Challenges in the game. Please refer to that section for more information about this particular Primary Mission.
=============
MIDNIGHT BREW
=============
REWARDS: Seismic Smash, Burn Baby, Personal Space
Another amp brewing mission. Before you can actually start this, you need to have enough ingredients. If you’re missing out on some ingredients for the brew and are having difficulties finding what you need, be sure to talk to Two Hat Jack. He will have maps of collectibles that you can purchase from him that are relatively cheap.
When you’re ready, return to Floyd with the ingredients to begin brewing. You will first be taught how to lay traps. Switch between traps using the d-pad, and then use the right bumper to lay down traps. Traps cost energy, and you only have so much energy to use, so that means the amount of traps that you can lay down are limited.
Lay down the traps in front of the barricades. This will slow down the mutants that try to get to your Vat. When you’re done learning how to use traps, the enemies will start pouring in. There is a new ice type enemy introduced during this wave-based assault, but for the most part, just stick to your usual strategy and you will be fine. The traps will be very helpful throughout this whole thing.
When you’re done, be sure to collect the amps and equip them.

=============
UP IN THE AIR
=============
REWARDS: $2500, 4000 Overcharge, Pyro Geyser Trap
Go to Walter at the glider. Apparently his “glider wheel” has been taken. Go to the Scabs that have taken it. You don’t have to fight them, just snag the wheel and return to Walter at the overpass.
On the overpass, you will have to get rid of the Scabs there. Do this and then Fizzco Riflebots will show up. These are very hard to kill with your current weapons, but the TNTeddy is a good choice to use against them, as is the Dirty Harry. The important thing to remember is to KEEP MOVING during the entire time that they are shooting at you, otherwise you will die for sure.
When these robots are destroyed, return to the glider. You now get to fly the glider! Hit the drafts to get a boost in power. If your power meter is depleted, you will start to descend. You can go up and down just using the left stick. Use the left and right bumpers to do barrel rolls. You can also shoot from the glider by pulling the right trigger.
See those green balloons floating around? Shoot them and they will release health. Walter will resupply the glider with ammo every time you hit 0, so don’t worry about that.
Eventually you will see a large blimp flying around. Start chasing it. Shoot or avoid the mines that it drops into the air as you continue to pursue it. The enemies on the rooftops won’t pose much of a threat, except for the robots as they do a lot of damage, but even then you shouldn’t go out of your way to target them. It will just be a waste of time. Keep hitting the drafts to get a power boost, shoot or run into the balloons for health, and also try to snag some Fizzie Balloons while you’re up here as well. They’re easy to get with the glider.
Sam will get the shields down on the blimp. Start firing at it like crazy. Just keep pulling the right trigger as fast as you can until the blimp blows up. When that’s done, keep flying to the big draft and fly straight into it for a cut-scene.

IT’S ME! FIZZIE!
================
REWARDS: $1500, 3000 Overcharge
Go to the radio tower and you will be introduced to Fizzco robots that have swords. Great. They can be ignored for now, so just go to the first transmitter and blow it up with melee attacks.
Satellites will then fall and give you the ability to bounce up to the next area. Mutants will start to be everywhere, but again, ignore them for the most part and just focus on the transmitter. A few shots from Dirty Harry will destroy this next one.
By the way, you have a new platforming ability. In mid-air, tap the right bumper to dash. It makes this next part helpful. Attack the third generator and you will initiate a boss fight against Fizzie, a giant ass Fizzie Balloon with laser eyes and a disco ball for a brain. Yep.
Grind on the rails to avoid the laser eyes. Jump on three of the glowing satellites in succession to stun Fizzie. His eyes will turn green and will then be exposed. Take shots at them until he starts shooting his lasers again.
Keep repeating the process. Fizzie will only add one new move to his arsenal. What he does is lock onto you and try to knock you out of the air using rockets. These are easily avoided if you just keep jumping around and using the rails.
Once he starts using the rockets, you have to shoot the disco ball in the middle of his forehead instead of his eyes in order to damage him. Do this until his health is completely depleted and Fizzie will be dead.
OR IS HE?!

========
HOT DOG!
========
REWARDS: $2500, 4000 Overcharge, Murderang
Return to the Oxford base to talk to 4Kim and Sam. They think that Troop Master Bryllcream is in a hot dog factory. Okay. Go to the hot dog factory and search for clues outside. A new grenade-launcher toting enemy called a Scab Launcher will be here, but ignore them and just pick up the three clues.
With all three clues in tow, go over to the crane and inspect it. Turns out it needs a key. Go to the park where the picnic was taking place, and then kill all the OD and the robots in the area. Use melee attacks on the robots to try to save your ammo for the Hurker and Gunkers (the ice enemies) that show up.
Upon killing the enemies, the key will appear. Pick it up and then return to the crane with it. Now you get to operate the crane! The crane controls are very simple. Use the left stick to move the crane and then pull the right trigger to drop the wrecking ball.
Do this to the crate of Overcharge that’s in the center of the area. This will attract a lot of mutants. Keep smashing them with the crane. After you drop the ball, you can tilt the left stick in a direction and the ball will swing upwards, which you can use to hit enemies on your way up as well.
The mutants pose no threat unless they drink enough Overcharge to become Poppers. They will then rush the crane and blow up next to it, which will cause damage. Health will be dropped semi-frequently, so it’s not a huge concern, but you should still try to kill the mutants before they become Poppers, and if they DO become Poppers, try to time it so the ball crushes them before they reach the crane.
Hurkers will show up as well, but they are killed very easily with the wrecking ball. Just a couple of hits with it is enough to put them out. However, they are far more capable of damaging the crane as well, so they pose a pretty significant threat compared to the other mutants.
With the area clear of the mutants, press the B button to swing the wrecking ball into the side of the factory. Go inside yourself. Grab the case of Overcharge in the corner and then grab the journal that was left by Bryllcream.

=========
REWARDS: $2500, 4000 Overcharge, Senor Freeze Trap
Meet Sam at the restaurant. Then go over to the train station. Ascend to the train where the smoke signals were coming from using the satellite dishes. Scabs are everywhere, but just focus on getting to the train.
When the scene is over, equip the Dirty Harry and then hop onto the rails. You now have to chase this train. When red targets appear on the thrusters, shoot them with the Dirty Harry. Smash boxes along the way to replenish health and ammo.
And that’s pretty much it for this mission. Just keep up with the train and shoot the hell out of its thrusters whenever you are given the opportunity to do so.

HEPCAT’S LATE-NIGHT SPECIAL
===========================
REWARDS: Winter is Coming, Chance of Lightning, Twister Spin
When you have enough ingredients, go talk to Floyd at his new base, which is the Hepcat restaurant that you visited briefly in the previous mission. Set the traps and turn the valve to start the mission. You now have TWO Vats to defend, so be aware of that.
The same enemy types will be here as in the last one, with the addition of the ice-based mutants. The amount of enemies that come in and attack are really overwhelming overall, but you can zip between the two Vats with ease and keep them off of the Vats in that manner.
Get your amps afterwards.

==========
BRYLLCREAM
==========
REWARDS: $5000, 6000 Overcharge
Wait for a package from Sam to arrive at the restaurant. Then grab the package and head to the first sensor. Use it and then aim it at the building where Norton is in. When that conversation is over, try to find the position of Bryllcream.
A drone will interrupt this. Follow it back to the roof where it came from to find a transmitter that is screwing up your frequency. Destroy this and then go to the next sensor and once again hack into it and use it to find the position of Bryllcream. To get to this one you will have to utilize wall runs a lot; to wall run, tap X after jumping into a wall. Tap X again at the corner of a wall to swing around to the other side. It walks you through this
with billboards and such, but you have been able to do this since the beginning of the game.
This time you will be led to the garbage truck where he is being held captive. Kill the Scabs that are all around the outside of it. Try to stop the truck when prompted. This will cause it to catch on fire. Do the only rational thing and start chucking kegs of Overcharge at the flames to put them out.
Of course, this results in mutants showing up. Kill all of the mutants around the truck. The truck will start to move, so chase after it. Jump on top of it if you can, and then just enjoy the ride until it comes to a halt again.
When the truck has stopped again, kill any left over mutants in the streets. Then go to the back of the truck and open it up.

REWARDS: $20000, 9000 Overcharge, Samurai Helmet
Pick up Bryllcream and carry him back to the Troop base. After the cut-scene, start chasing after Norton Dragon. Jump onto his back and then tap X again to grind up to his head. Tap the B button when prompted to strike the back of Norton Dragon’s head.
Norton Dragon will start to shoot fireballs at you. You can shoot them to blow them up or dodge them in other ways. In the meantime, spikes will also grow out of his back, preventing you from grinding on his scales again. Shoot the spikes and when they are all gone, grind back up to his head and strike himagain.
Do this one more time to defeat the dragon.

THE KING’S FEAST
================
REWARDS: $4000, 5000 Overcharge, Grind Cooker Trap
Follow the Fargarthians through the city streets. Defend them against any mutants that show up. There will be some Herkers that appear, aka “cave trolls”, but otherwise it’s a pretty uneventful trip to the “forest” that they go to in order to harvest tree bark.
Upon entering the forest, you are given the option to press Y to check out the bard as he is singing. Do this if you want. When that’s done with, the mutants will start pouring into the area while your partners harvest the tree bark.
You can defend them with the usual attacks, but you also have catapults to utilize. There are four catapults; one for the “castle”, one for the Farbinger, one for the power plant, and one for the boat house. For this first wave, the boat house catapult doesn’t really need to be used. Just focus on the other three.
You will be told where large groupes of enemies are coming from when they start coming down on your location. Point the camera in the general direction of the catapult and then press the Y button to call for the catapult to fling explosives on that area. The explosions should wipe out the vast majority of enemies there.
Keep doing this until the timer runs out. When it does, return to your Fargarthians and talk with them after killing any leftover mutants. Then start defending them from the second wave, which incorporates the boat house as well. Near the end of this, two Herkers will show up, so utilize the catapults to damage them as much as possible, then using the Flaming Compensator + Dirty Harry combo to take them out.
Regroup with your Fargarthians once again after the second wave of tree bark harvesting has been completed.

TASTES LIKE CHICKEN
===================
REWARDS: $4000, 5000 Overcharge, Tesla Trap
The Fargarthians need to get better food for their king. Meet them at the farmer’s market to help them out. For this section, you will only be able to use the Flaming Compensator. Various fire traps will be laid around the area that you can use as well.
You have to roast 500 pigeons. That seems like a lot, but your buddies will be tossing crates of bird seed around the fire traps. Activate the fire traps when the birds are near them to light them all on fire. You can large mobs of them in this manner, even well over 100 with a single blast.
The Flaming Compensator can be used as well. It’s not as effective as using the fire traps, but it can be used to kill some pigeons when they’re in the air and not around the fire traps.
With the pigeons roasted, follow your buddies down the street again. They will be using shopping carts to push the chicken around, and every once in a while some Scabs and mutants will impede their progress. Kill these enemies so that they can keep walking.

BAD MEDICINE
============
REWARDS: $10000, 7000 Overcharge
Go to the area with the medicine. There are three trucks here. Check one and the Fizzco robots will show up to rain on your parade. Kill them all and then check all three trucks. The first two are just goofs, but the third truck is where you’ll find the medicine.
Your mission is not over yet. Go to the park and then go to the restrooms. When you’re mostly naked, go into one of the designated ponds. See the bubbles on the surface? Walk through them to get leeches attached to your body. Do this until this pond is drained of leeches, then head to the next one and continue the same routine until your entire body is covered in leeches.
The next time you’re in control of your character, you will be having a severe drug hallucination. Just follow Wendy until you are transported to a world with Fizzie! That rat bastard. Follow Fizzie for a little bit longer and then lava will pop up all over the ground.
Now just continue to follow Fizzie, but be sure not to fall into the lava or else you will die. Fizzie will spawn skeleton monsters to fight you as you continue to follow him. Eventually, Fizzie will lead you right to a gun. Pick it up by pressing the Y button and then use it to start shooting Fizzie and the many Fizzie clones until the hallucination concludes.

FERRY TO NOWHERE
================
REWARDS: Hater, Air Power, It Burns
The ingredients you need this time is 10 security cameras. Again, you can just collect them by zipping around the city or you can buy maps from Two Hand Jack to help you find them easier. Anyway, when you have all the ingredients, you are ready for another cook!
Go to the Harbor base (you might have visited it previously, though not if you have been following this guide exactly) and start the cook just like normal. This place is actually extremely well defended with barricades, so I find it less stressful than the previous cook.
The most useful trap is still the blades, so use those as much as possible, with maybe one fire trip somewhere. The blades work automatically, which is what makes them so useful, whereas the fire trap needs to be activated by you jumping on the button that is on top of it.
Anyway, complete this cook, get your new amps, and then you are ready to continue the main storyline!

THE SIEGE OF WONDERTOWN LAND
============================
Rewards: 7000 Overcharge, Pandora’s Box Trap, AK-FU
The first step to this long mission is to find Lawrence the Leper. Follow the blood trail to meet up with him. Then you will be introduced to a new enemy type. It’s a new kind of mutant called the Mugger. It’s fast and it has big claws. It will climb on walls and try to slam down onto you. A red target appears where it is about to slam, so be sure to move out of the way because its slam deals a ton of damage.
The best way to deal with them is to just spam Dirty Harry, or freeze them with an amp or weapon and then run up and nail them with melee strikes until they shatter.
You have to fight one, then two at a time, and then a bunch simultaneously. Just keep moving and kill them as well as any other mutants that are around and giving you trouble.
When the first wave of enemies is defeated, a Mugger wearing a triceratops head will show up. This one is armored because of the triceratops head, so you can only damage it with explosions and by shooting its body. TNTeddy to the rescue!
Killing this Mugger will make it drop the triceratops head. Collect it for yourself. You can test it out now against the Scabs in the area. X is for a charge attack and B is for a basic gore attack. You don’t get to use it for long, though, as you must go to Ignatius and deliver the “figurehead” to him.
Move with the Fargarthians into the theme park. Help them overtake the multiple areas here, such as the ferris wheel and other landmarks, simply by killing every single Scab in the designated area on the map.
Next you have to escort the battering ram safely through the barricades. While doing this, they will be slinging bombs at it from the castle. Shoot them out of the sky with the Dirty Harry. When the battering ram reaches a barricade, jump onto the button on its back. Do a super jump, and then press B at the height of the jump to slam down and hit the button. This will activate the battering ram and smash through the first barricade.
The next couple of barricades are the same, except there will be more bombs thrown at you as well as melee-using Scabs to make it a bit more difficult. Keep defending the battering ram and be sure to activate it as it gets to each barricade.
At the last barricade, you will have access to a rollercoaster. Zip up it and shoot the firework barrels that are attached to the various towers. Destroy all of them for a cut-scene that reveals the boss fight of this mission, the King Scab!
King Scab will get in one of the rollercoaster cars. It shoots fire from the front, so get behind it. It will shoot small bursts of fire behind itself, but you can jump over those to avoid them. Shoot the explosive packs on the back of the car to deal damage to it.
Keep following King Scab and shooting the back of the car until eventually he has a titanium rear to keep you from blowing him up any longer. Return to Ignatius to retrieve the triceratops head. Now get in FRONT of King Scab and grind into him head-on to defeat him for good.

FLOATING GARBAGE
================
REWARDS: $30000, 10000 Overcharge, Mopbeard
Before starting this mission, I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the Fizzbot Rifle as it will make this mission much easier.
Okay, get ready for a really long escort mission. You have to protect the boat. The boat has health that can be depleted, but you can refill the health of the boat by grabbing the green trash cans from land and then chucking them into the boat so that the people below deck can use it to patch up any of the holes.
The most irritating enemy during this is the Blower. The first Herker that you come across poses a threat as well, but the second one is up on a bridge and can’t really do much except throw rocks at you and knock you off any rails you’re grinding on.
A new enemy type, the Winger, is introduced as well. Use the Fizzbot Rifle against them and you will be able to kill them very quickly. The Fizzbot Rifle is also useful when taking out the Blowers, though you will probably be spending most of your time retrieving trash for the ship as opposed to actively defending it.
There are a few times when a drawbridge is blocking the way. You have to rush to the controls for it and smash them in order to raise the bridge and allow the ship to pass through.
This information is all you need to get throug this mission without failing. When you get into the ocean, the mission is completed.

A HERO’S DUTY
=============
REWARDS: $30000, 10000 Overcharge
Didn’t think it’d be that easy, did you? Return to the Troop base to find that it is under attack by Fizzco bots. You have to take on each bot type in wave form, one after another. First Blade bots, then Rifle bots, and then finally Bomb bots.
Use the strategies you have used against them this entire game to be effective here. The Freeze Bomb is especially useful, I’ve found. In any case, defeat the robots and then go to the Oxford base to find that it is also under attack.
At the Oxford base, the Blade bots will be around constantly, whereas the Rifle bots and Bomb bots will only come in waves. The good thing about the Oxford base is the Tesla Traps that are outside. Jump on them to activate them for easy robot kills.
Going through all the robot types again will cause a Tank Bot to spawn! This behemoth has two weaknesses. For one, you can electrocute it by throwing the various electric barrels at it that are lying around, or by pressing the Tesla Trap button when it is within the radius of it.
My favorite way to attack it is a combination of the Freeze Bomb and the Dirty Harry. First freeze the Tank bot and then just lay into it with the Dirty Harry! Despite its immense size, the Tank bot will still be frozen in place with the Freeze Bomb, allowing you to attack it without worrying about it attacking you back. The other bots in the area are still a bit annoying, but thanks to your grinding skills, you can mostly avoid them.
The Tank bot has typical attacks, except for one. It does have a shield that it will use sometimes that makes it so you can’t hurt it. Don’t worry though; just keep zipping around and wait for the shield to go down. Then fire a Freeze Bomb at it to freeze it in place, and then you can resume attacking it until it is dead.

AWESOMESMITHING
===============
REWARDS: $15000, 8000 Overcharge, Excalamune
This mission? Not so short. First you need to go to the Fizzco headquarters. Upon arriving, you have to defeat all of the robot security. You will need to ascend the large blue buildings here to reach some of them. I recommend using the Freeze Bomb on the robots like usual.
Killing all of the robots will trigger a new objective to get to the top of the building. Utilize your various traversal techniques to accomplish this. At the top, listen to the voicemail.
When the voicemail is done playing, examine the trophies. Now fast-travel to the power plant. At the power plant, kill all of the OD mutants here, which is quite a few, including numerous Muggers. Just like the robots, using the Freeze Bomb on the Muggers and then attacking them is the best bet, especially since they never want to sit in one place.
Go to the vent and place the trophies there. Then back out and start ascending the stacks. When you get to the top, two Wingers will spawn. Take them out with whatever you want, and then jump straight down the first stack. Press the B button on the way down, and then mash it like crazy to build up power.
Keep doing this until the sword is forged. The sword is extremely hot and will shoot fireballs right now, so take it to the nearby water treatment area. Kill the Scabs there, then perform a dive smash into the clean water to cool the sword down a bit…except not really. Now it shoots fire AND lightning. Cool, huh?
Return to the Fizzco headquarters with your new super sword. Using this sword, you are supposed to collect the souls of 99 robots. They are mostly Blade bots, but there are also Rifle bots that spawn as well. The Rifle bots pose the biggest threat, so you should take them out with a bounce + dive bomb attack.
Killing 98 robots will cause a Tank bot to spawn. Kill him with the same method you use for the Rifle bots and he will be killed fairly quickly thanks to the insane power of the sword.
With 99 souls collected, return to the Mexican ninja cheerleaders.

GETTING THE BAND BACK TOGETHER
==============================
REWARDS: $30000, 10000 Overcharge, Pulse Mine
Time to create a rock band! Because why not? First you will want to head over to where Wendy is hanging out. Call to her from outside, then use the harpoons on the dock to start dragging her boat to the other side of the marina.
Defend the harpoons from mutants that will attack it. The mutants are all lower tier, save for some Gunkers and a single Winger that shows up to make the fight more difficult.
Switch to a harpoon farther down the marina when one breaks or if the boat is already pulled as far as it can with the current harpoons. Defending the harpoons becomes infinitely easier when you’re on the last two, as they are right next to each other.
Keep defending the harpoons and fighting off the mutants. When the boat reaches its destination, kill all the mutants in the highlighted area on your map so that Wendy will come out.
Now you have to find a drummer. Go to the designated area to find 4Kim and ask her to be your drummer. Go to the trucks she points out and open the back of them to find some drums. There will be an explosion, and then those big drums will fall all over the place. You have to bounce on the first four without touching the ground, and then on the last one performing a dive bomb attack to activate them all simultaneously.
Do this and then you will be tasked with bouncing on ALL the drums without hitting the ground. Again, dive bomb on the last one. To get to the highest drums, you will need to utilize a super jump. Completing this successfully will take all the OD mutants out in this area simultaneously.
Next up on the list? A guitarist. Check out the poster for a local rock show that was going to take place, and then go to the location where it was meant to be. Open the doors to find your guitarist.

CONCERTPOCALYPSE
================
REWARDS: Grind the Lightning, Un-Defibrillator, Fear the Reaper
This is basically just another tower defense mission like you do when you cook amps. However, this time you are defending fuseboxes that are incredibly susceptible to damage.
Place the traps like usual. Then talk to King Buzzo. After speaking with him, you can then begin the fight against the hordes of mutants. There are two phases to this; the first phase is them getting the concert ready, and then the second phase is the actual concert. Both phases only last a couple of minutes.
You just need one fusebox active, so two can be blown up and you can still continue playing. Use the usual strategies for these types of missions, aka Freeze Bomb and TNTeddy, to be most effective here.
When both timers run down, the mission is a success.

THIS ENDS HERE
==============
REWARDS: 20000 Overcharge, Endgame, Endgame Medals
Final battle time! Meet up with Sam at the overpass. This will then trigger a series of skirmishes. They are all just battles with Fizzco robots. The first is the hardest, so don’t be afraid to retreat from the initial battle area and scour the edges of the mission area for health boxes.
You get a checkpoint after each skirmish wave is completed. Eventually, a couple of Tank bots will show up, and they will become your priority. Kill them using Freeze Bombs and TNTeddy like you usually would, but since there’s two, you CAN’T stop. Not even for a second. Keep grinding constantly if you don’t want to die.
When Sam gives the go-ahead, start climbing up to the building with the giant bottle of Overcharge. Use the geysers of Overcharge to get up to that rooftop. Approach the bottle and mash on the melee button to lay into the bottle. This will build up pressure and then eventually trigger a cut-scene. Be careful while hitting the bottle, though, as sometimes sneaky Fizzco robots will show up and screw you over.

THE END
Just kidding. You now have to fight a new boss called The Building. Each of the three phases of this boss fight are timed, but you are given plenty of time to complete the objective, so don’t worry. Head to the first area and then use the boats to bounce up to the tentacle and start grinding up it. Jump over the electrical currents sent your way, and then use the hoverpads to continue climbing to the top.
You will then get to some blue rails. Go to the highest blue rail and then shoot the power core at the top a few times. The Building will then retreat to another area. Pursue it and use the rooftops to get on the tentacle this time. It’s pretty much the same process, except now The Building will electrify some of the rails at the top.
Blast the power core a few more times and The Building retreats again. Use the railroad track to get up to the tentacle again. The Building will now electrify the railings more frequent, so you may need to drop down to a lower one to avoid being electrocuted. For this final attack, the power core will take five hits consecutively in order to destroy it for good.
THE END
For real this time.

3. Quests
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
In Sunset Overdrive, the Quests are the side missions in the game. They are denoted by blue exclamation marks on the map.
For the sake of organization, the side missions are listed here in alphabetical order. You unlock new ones by completing primary missions, oftentimes multiple side missions at a time. Quests are also unlocked by completing prerequisite Quests.
You can complete any side mission you have unlocked in any order that you wish. I recommend beating all of the primary missions in the game before you start to tackle the Quests. The reason for this is that by completing the primary missions, you will have all of the traversal techniques at your disposal, making the Quests much easier to complete.

You will then be made aware of another set of turrets down the road. Go to this next set of them, destroy all of the turrets here, and then grab the satellite from the stage.
Take the satellite back to the Oxford base. Go to the roof of the base and a short scene will trigger. Afterwards, you are tasked with keep your style up to at least level 1 while killing 25 Scabs.
Kill a few Scabs and you will then have to keep your style at level 2. Failure to do so will result in the turrets attacking you, and you aren’t allowed to destroy any of the turrets this time.
Keep killing the Scabs and your requirement will increase to style level 3. Keep the style level up as you go around and kill the Scabs. Killing 25 of the Scabs will allow you to complete the mission.

Kill 25 Scabs like this. Mutants will start showing up, which makes it a bit harder to kill the Scabs as the mutants will take some of your kills, but you should still be able to get the 25 kills before the song completes. Do this five times (one of the “doors” is actually an air vent) and then return to the person that gave you this quest to begin with, the Saleswoman.

REWARDS: $2500, 5000 Overcharge, Fizzco Baton
Floyd needs you to raise three flags across town. To raise a flag, hit the button in front of them. This will cause Fizzco robots to show up, and you then have to defend the flag from them.
If the robots hit the switch, it will cause the flag to stop rising and the timer will freeze. Go hit the switch immediately and continue defending the flag from the robots until it is raised.

REWARDS: $2500, 5000 Overcharge, Vat Capacity Upgrade
“Robot guts” are what you need to get this next Vat upgraded. Robot guts come from, you guessed it, Fizzco robots.
There’s five sets of robot guts you need. You can get them in any order, but the difficulty at each one will progress linearly anyway. The first two robot guys will come out of Blade bots. The third one out of a Bomb bot, and the final two out of Tank bots.
With all of the robot guts in tow, take it to the Vat to upgrade it.

THE FIREWORK SHOW
=================
REWARDS: $4500, 8000 Overcharge, Pop Rocket Trap
4Kim needs to find her friend JustKim. (Ha) Go with her to the designated area. Follow her to the door, then kill all the Scabs and OD in the area. Call her over to the door when it is safe, then go to the rooftops and start checking the doors.
The door you need is the one with the tents on the roof near it. Check this door and then turrets will be activated. Grind around and shoot all the turrets to blow them up.
When the scene is over, start placing the rocket traps around the center raised area. That is where the Overcharge is going to be spilled, which will attract mutants to the area. Place two on either side, then place the other ones wherever you want.
Grab the melee weapon that JustKim offers to you. You CAN’T use any guns during this mission though.
Stand behind the raised area where the Overcharge is. You can fail this part in two ways. You can die, or you can run out of Overcharge, so you can’t allow the mutants to drink all of the Overcharge.
Let the rockets do most of the work, and you can just stand behind the raised area, only jumping up to smash away any mutants that start drinking up the Overcharge.
Getting to around 50 kills will trigger the arrival of new enemies such as Blowers and Herkers, but you also get more energy to place down more rocket turrets. Take advantage of this extra energy. The ramp to the left of the platform will see the most enemies come down it at this point, so place a few at its base to get them all.
When 125 mutants have been killed, you will complete the mission.

Return to Ignatius. It’s now time for the “final battle”. Set up the Siegfried traps in all four directions, with one in the middle, and then fight off the waves of enemies until the quest is completed.

4. Challenges
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
For even more added value, Sunset Overdrive features 54 challenges that can be completed. The challenges are separated into different types, with a set amount of challenges that full under each category.
Challenges on the map are denoted by green icons. I HIGHLY recommend waiting until you have completed the Primary Missions in the game before tackling the challenges. By completing the primary missions, you will have all of the different abilities unlocked and a lot more weapons at your disposal, which will make the challenges much easier to complete.

BOMB DELIVERY

5. Collectibles
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Sunset Overdrive has a variety of collectible content that can be found for achievements as well as to unlock more in the game.
Collectibles in the game include:
Cameras
Eavesdropping
Fizzie Balloon
High Points
Neon Signs
Shoes
Smartphones
Tagging
Toilet Paper
For most games, I would walk you through the location of each collectible. However, Sunset Overdrive makes my job a little bit easier! In the game, you can purchase collectible maps from Two Hand Jack.
When you purchase these maps, they will make all the collectibles for the map type you bought appear in the district that you bought the map for.
At that point, it’s a simple matter of going around and snagging all of the collectibles. Keep in mind that not all collectibles need to be collected in order to get all of the achievements and 100% the game.

6. Chaos Squad
- – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - -
Chaos Squad is the 8-player co-op mode in Sunset Overdrive.
Basically, it is the same as the Night Defense challenges and the Vat protection that you do throughout the game, except you have more people to work with, plus you have to build “Chaos” by destroying objects in the game environment.
To enter the co-op mode, just go into any of the phone booths in the game. The phone booths are marked on the map by yellow smiley faces.
You are unable to enter Chaos Squad mode until a certain point in the story. Just wait until you complete enough story missions and the game introduces the co-op concept to you. From that point on, you are free to do the co-op whenever you want.
