Gameplay
Terra Battle is part-RPG, part-puzzle game, and part-board game. Players must form a team of up to six allies which they would then have to position around a board so that they can trigger attacks against waves of enemies. Knowing which allies to move where is crucial as there are various to weigh such as who they would be up against, and which of your other allies they would be allied with. Allies can also be upgraded through regular leveling up or by adding jobs. Proper placement and movement of allies around the board is critical to success almost at the same level as having a strong and good mix of attacking and support characters in your team.
Currency
Coins and energy are the two currencies available within Terra Battle. Coins are used as the basic currency, and this can be used to recruit new allies. Coins can be earned through regular play. Energy, on the other hand, can be used to acquire better additions to your team and can also be used to purchase additional coins and stamina. Gems can be acquired via daily log in rewards, and it can also be bought using real money.
Stamina
Terra Battle uses a stamina system such that a certain amount of stamina is required before players can enter a stage. Stamina regenerates over time but players can spend premium currency in order to refill it instantly. It is also worth noting that clearing a chapter within the game can increase your stamina, which is important as stamina requirements may increase later on as well.
Allies
New allies may be recruited using either coins and energy, with the latter yielding more powerful results. Allies can belong to different classes, and will have varying stats and skills. The more you use allies, the more they will level up and the better their attributes will be. It is also worth noting that recruiting an ally similar to one that you already have will increase the abilities of your current ally.
Players should take consideration of the fact that each class has a certain affinity which makes them more effective, and vulnerable, against certain enemies. Knights are strong against warriors while warriors are strong against archers. On the other hand, archers are more effective against knights. Use this knowledge in order to gain an advantage against enemies and when planning out your party especially before the beginning of the stage. There are also support allies which do not attack but can provide benefits for your party such as healing. Players can have up to six allies on the board at a time, and having an ally’s health completely depleted in battle will remove them from the grid but will still be available to you next time around.
Allies may also be added jobs which will make them even better in the field. Adding jobs will require players to collect items which can be won or acquired via other means. The Hunting Zone is one of the best places to acquire these items, but difficulty levels will be higher than usual.
Skills
All allies have special skills, and more can be unlocked as they level up or have jobs added to them. Skills are triggered automatically and randomly, and knowing the conditions and effects of your allies’ skills will certainly be advantageous especially if you cannot rely solely on their attack abilities. This is especially important if you have a healer already on board your team. Conversely, you should also know what skills the present enemies have so that you can get rid of the ones that have powerful skills first.
Movement
Movement within the game is turn based. Turns end once players get to attack, or if the timer runs out. Players can move their characters along any linear path, and any ally that they pass through will move in the opposite direction. Enemies will also move once the counter above them run out, and they can reposition themselves and attack you as well.
Attacks and other skills can be activated by having two allies sandwich one or more enemies either vertically or horizontally. This is called a pincer attack, and more than one enemy can be in between two of your allies. Similarly, having more allies in the pincer attack formation will also deal more damage to all enemies between you.
Another type of attack is the coordinated attack. This means that other allies on the same row or column as those allies that are in pincer attack formation will also trigger their attacks and skills. These strategies are extremely important in order to dispatch tougher enemies easily. Thus, players must always fight for position and think several moves ahead in order to take advantage of these types of situations.
Power Points
As players progress through the battle, power points will appear. Having a power point as part of an attack will make your attacks and skills increase in effectivity, allowing you to take down enemies faster. Up to three power points can appear, and using a power point will remove it from the field. Power points can also be moved around as you pass by them, but they cannot be moved by players directly.
Chapters
The game is divided into chapters which are then divided into stages. Each stage will have numerous battles, and players must clear each one in order to proceed. Players must progress through each stage in order to open up the next set of stages and chapters. Of course, players can also repeat previously completed stages in order to grind for more coins and to level up their characters further. Again, players will require stamina before they can enter a stage.
