Monster Squad Walkthrough [Guide]

Monster collection and battle games have come a long way since the days of Pokemon for the Game Boy, and Monster Squad is the latest in the long line of titles that are keeping the genre alive. Collect and upgrade the best team of monsters available as you play through quests, as well as other players’ teams. Having the right mix of characters in your party is almost as important as what you do with them in the field, so a lot of planning is required even outside of combat. Prove yourself to have the most dominant team and increase your chances of winning by reading through this comprehensive guide.

Gameplay
Monster Squad is a monster collection and battle game where in the goal is to organize the best monster team as possible. There are various variables to work with such as monster levels, affinities, and skills, so proper strategy and a bit of grinding is a must. Players would also need to keep their heads together during combat as they have control over their team’s leader’s actions as they combat waves of enemies. With this, ensuring that having a solid leader and support team is critical for both single and multiplayer battles.

Currency
Coins and gems are the two main currencies within the game. Coins are earned by regular gameplay, or by exchanging gems for them. Gems, on the other hand, are rewarded less frequently and can also be acquired via in-app purchases. Both coins and gems may also be acquired as rewards for completing missions, as daily login bonuses, or as rewards for fighting in the Arena.

Coins are mainly used for boosting your monsters, while gems serve a lot of purposes such as purchasing stamina and purchasing premium monsters, among others. Having a good supply of either currency is a must, which is why both grinding and trying to complete missions is very much recommended.

Stamina
Monster Squad also has a Stamina system that will require players to have this resource whenever they would like to enter a stage. Stamina regenerates over time and premium currency may be spent to refill it instantly. Serious players should always exhaust their stamina before leaving the game for a prolonged period of time, and they should also maximize their stamina in order to gain more coins and to level up their monsters further.

Monsters
Players will be able to acquire monsters in different ways. They can be captured during battles, given out as rewards, or even purchased at the store. Monsters differ in many ways such as attributes, elemental affinities, and skills, so having the perfect mix of monsters within your team is extremely important. Rarity is also a factor as rarer monsters, indicated by stars, are typically more powerful. Players can have up to four monsters in their party.

As mentioned, monsters may have elemental affinities, and this can play as a factor especially when dealing with tougher monsters. Enemies with higher defense or HP can be more easily taken down if you use monsters with an element that they are weak against. Of course, players should also be wary and should take down monsters with elemental affinities that they are vulnerable to.

Aside from these, players should mix and match the skills and abilities of their team. It should be noted that players can only control the team leader in battle, and they can also only activate their skills in battle, an act which consumes mana that regenerates over time. As players progress through the game, they will be able to acquire different types of monsters. Rearrange your monsters in order to come up with the best combination possible, and the team rank display will help you gauge how formidable your current team already is.

Leveling Up
By playing your monsters, they will be able to earn experience points and level up. Boosting them is also a good way to level them up. This is done by sacrificing lower levels monsters and spending a few coins. Make it a priority to boost higher level monsters than lower level ones as they have a higher chance of getting retained as you get more monsters in your lineup.

Monsters may also be evolved into a stronger type of monster. However, certain monsters are required for consumption and your base monster must also be at maximum level. The output of evolution would be a much more effective monster with an entirely different set of skills and abilities.

Make it a point to either consume monsters that you do not want to level up your team faster, or to sell them for additional coins. Getting rid of monsters is important as you can only have a set amount in your inventory.

Battles
Players can participate in either single player or multiplayer campaigns. In single player, your team must go through different stages in order to unlock the next area. Going through the stages will require stamina, and players will be able to win coins and even new monsters along the way. Some gems may also be earned once stages or areas have been completed.

On the other hand, the Arena is Monster Squad’s multiplayer mode, where in players can battle the teams of other players online. Battles are set for two minutes, and victory points are either won or lost based on the results of combat. At the end of each period, those with the highest Victory points will be awarded with great prizes such as gems or exclusive and rare monsters. Participating in Arena battles will cost one wing each, a resource that regenerates in the same way as stamina.

Achievements
Players can also try and complete missions which can either be daily, weekly, or otherwise. Missions ma include boosting a specific monster up to a certain level or winning a set number of battles. A specific section of the game will allow you to see which missions you can complete, and what prizes you will already be able to claim.

On the other hand, players may also like to take advantage of daily log in rewards. The more consecutive days that the player enters the game, the better their prizes. Examples of items that players can get would include stamina, coins, gems, and crates that may include powerful monsters that you can use to further improve your team.

Social Function
Social function in Monster Squad allows you to invite and accept invitations from other players. Once added, you can add their teams’ leader to your party during single player campaigns. Players will also be able to benefit from the skills. However, keep in mind that friends do not earn experience in battle. Having powerful allies will certainly help you if you cannot beat enemies on your own.
