Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is Coming to Nintendo Wii U

Activision officially announced the next iteration in the biggest franchise on Earth but it was a sad moment for Nintendo fans who felt as if they were being ignored for no reason.

When it was announced that Treyarch is making the next game in the series, named the Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Activision never spoke about the Wii U console. Instead, they confirmed that it is coming to next gen consoles including Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s Playstation 4. Obviously the first person shooter title was coming to Windows PCs but there was no sign of anything related to the Wii U being spoken. At first, most presumed that the AAA title is never going to make its way to their favorite console but then came a promising tweet from the company.

Treyarch Tweets about Black Ops 3

Based on the way they made the announcement, it looked like Activision ignored the Nintendo Wii U console as a viable platform. With games like Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros becoming runaway hits on it, it has acquired the reputation of being a family friendly machine with first party IPs that deterred third party developers. But, the publisher indirectly confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops 3 is indeed coming to Wii U without a doubt.

In their Twitter message, they said that they don’t have any other platform to announce at the moment. The team also added that news related to the Nintendo console version of the game will be officially announced soon and asked players to be on hold until the word comes out. It is not only games on this platform but those who still own the Xbox 360 and PS3 would like to know if it is coming or not. The developers have said that they will be talking about these excluded consoles at a later stage.

Delayed Release

While developers and publishing houses are strongly focused on Xbox One, PS4 and PC platforms, gamers are still on older generation consoles as well as the Nintendo Wii U machine. Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will most probably be a delayed release on these platforms.

It is obvious that the game will not get launched this October or November on Wii U but instead will be ported later on. A possible release date could be in the month of February, 2016 or even later. The upcoming E3 2015 should clear these doubts.
