YouTube Gaming – Best Offer From Google For Gamers

Alan Joyce, Product Manager, announced on YouTube’s Official Blog that Google, the Internet search giant, will launch “YouTube Gaming”, a live streaming gaming service which will be a direct competitor to Amazon’s Twitch service. The gamers will be able to install this application this summer, and in the beginning, only the US and UK users will have access to it.

All mobile and desktop users will be able to install the YouTube Gaming application or access the website as well, where they’ll enter a magical world created especially for gamers. Google has over 25,000 games waiting for them on YouTube Gaming, and each game will have its page. Alan Joyce wrote on YouTube’s Official Blog that the users will subscribe to channels of game publishers and, more than that, they will add games to their collection so that they could have a quick access and they’ll even receive suggestions for new games, when the channels they follow are adding them.

Also, when subscribing to a channel, the users are notified as soon as these channels are starting a live stream. And if they don’t remember the name of a game, they simply need to type a word that is part of the title, such as “Call”, which will lead you to “Call of Duty”.

The streamers will be allowed to enable DVR and this way, the users will rewind live broadcasts when they miss something important. In addition, YouTube will introduce a new low latency streaming option so that the streamers will “really interact with [their] fans while gaming”.

Twitch, YouTube Gaming’s main rival, was bought by Amazon in August 2014, for the sum of $970 million. Matthew DiPietro, Twitch’s vice president of marketing wrote a sarcastic welcome message on Twitter, to its fresh competitor: “@YouTubeGaming Welcome Player 2. Add me on Google +. #kappa”, where “kappa” is an emotion used by trolls. Matthew DiPietro, Twitch’s vice president of marketing, was a bit more serious, saying that “We welcome new entrants into the growing list of competitors since gaming video is obviously a huge market that others have their eye on”.

YouTube Gaming will be available for smartphones and tablets running on Android and iOS, but at first, the application will be available only in the US and UK.
