Layton Brothers Mystery Room Tips and Tricks Guide: Cheats, Hints, and Strategies

Layton Brothers Mystery Room is a new ‘whodunit’ game by Level 5, the next game in the Professor Layton series, and one that had previously been in development hell for almost 5 years. This game stars a young trainee detective named Lucy Baker, and the son of Professor Layton, the detective Alfendi Layton, as they use his secret crime scene recreation machine to solve crimes. There are plenty of cases to go around in this game, and it’s as good of an interactive story as it is a detective game. Read on for some tips and tricks for Layton Brothers Mystery Room!

The most important thing to remember is that it is not possible to fail in this game, as it is intended to be more of an interactive story. Your main goal is to search through the evidence and figure out who did the crime, but no matter how many wrong answers you give, the worst thing that will happen is that you will have to redo a question or two.

There are many ways to start off a case. You can immediately go into gathering evidence, which you have a 5 minute time limit for, but the time freezes as soon as you tap a piece of evidence, so you get as long as you want to read everything in the game. You can ask for advice which involves receiving hints from Alfendi Layton. You can name a killer right away, which brings in a suspect right away for conversation. Or you can “have a think”, where Prof Layton offers his guess as to who the culprit is, and then he is brought in for questioning so that you can work through deductions.

Make sure to pay attention to details when gathering evidence and reading statements and biographies. Look for anything that seems suspicious, to include multiple statements that contradict each other, or a lack of fingerprints (or being the only one to leave behind fingerprints). Usually, the first person who you suspect of being the culprit will actually be the innocent one, but someone else who “seems” a little too suspicious as you interview them, will end up being the real culprit.

There are two free cases, and then six more that are available to buy right away. All in all, though, there are a total of 32 cases that you can buy. You need to unlock them by finishing all of your currently available cases first before you can buy new ones.
