Welcome to the beginner’s guide to Game of War – Fire Age! Game of War – Fire Age is a new MMO strategy game by Machine Zone Inc for the iPhone and iPod Touch, as well as other iOS devices. While the gameplay will be appreciated by gamers who are familiar with Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, or Arcane Empires, this game is in-depth even for an MMO strategy game. It’s very alliance driven, and teamwork is key here. Read on for the beginner’s guide to Game of War – Fire Age!
The game starts off rather slowly, with your rather empty empire in a peace period to begin with, which means that you can neither attack nor be attacked. Your goal in the early stages of the game will be to build up your resources, which are food, wood, metal ore, stone and silver. The gift box at the lower left corner of the city view screen will give you random rewards every once in awhile, but your main source of resources will be building farms, logging camps, mines, quarries and villas.
Your city is divided into two different sectors, the rural sector and the urban sector. The lower-right rural sector (outside of the city walls) is where the farms, camps, mines and quarries are built, while everything else is built inside the city walls in the urban area. Your villas are built here, as are many other buildings, to include the following:
Barracks, where you train troops.
Warehouse, where resources can be hidden from attackers.
Academy, where new technologies can be researched.
Watchtower, where you can receive information on other players who are about to attack you.
Hospitals, where wounded troops go after a battle is done.
Gymnos, which will increase the experience points of any new heroes that you recruit.
Marketplace, where you can trade resources with members of your alliance.
Embassy, where you can house reinforcements from your alliance teammates,
And later on you can unlock the prison, where you can imprison enemy heroes,
Altar, where imprisoned heroes can be executed for a large bonus to your kingdom
And finally, the hall of war, where you can organize your alliance into war rallies.
In addition, you can also upgrade your city wall from level 0 to level 1 (and much higher levels after that), which will allow you to train wall defenses. They function similarly to troops when you get attacked, but of course, you can’t take them with you on a march to another city. Every upgradeable building maxes out at level 21.
