Welcome to part two of the Hard Time (Prison Sim) tips and tricks guide! Click here to go back to part one of the guide.
Watch out for prisoners who are part of a gang. As a general rule, if you mess with one of them, you will have the entire gang out to get you. You are more likely to be targeted or even killed this way, but if you end up emerging victorious against the gang, you will get a massive boost in reputation.
One of the easiest ways to make money in this game is to go to the workshop. With the latest update to the app, if you fix a piece of broken furniture or another piece of broken equipment, you will earn money. All you have to do in order to fix something is to pick it up and put it back down. Sometimes, you can fix something, then pick it up again and put it down again, and it will break. If you do that, then you can fix it all over again, earning money a second time for the same piece of furniture.
Anything you do that can increase your strength also decrease your agility, and anything you can do that will increase your agility will also decrease your strength. You have to find a good balance between increasing your strength and increasing your agility in order to achieve perfection. The same goes with reputation and intelligence. Anything that increases your intelligence will decrease your reputation, and vice versa.
If you pick up an object and carry it around, oftentimes other prisoners will randomly offer to buy the item from you. Typically, contraband tends to be worth more, such as alcohol, cigarettes, or guns. Inmates will also offer to buy brooms and other ordinary equipment from you, but you won’t learn that much for it.
Another change with the latest update is that if you urinate or defecate somewhere other than a toilet, not only will you lose reputation like you did before, but you will also and up getting arrested and charged with a crime if you get caught, making it far more important to get to the bathroom on time when your character needs to go to the bathroom.
Alcoholic drinks are a new addition to the game as well. If you drink beer or any other alcoholic drink, your brainpower will increase rapidly, but your energy bar will decrease, and both your strength and intelligence will decrease. The same thing goes for cigarettes. Use alcohol and cigarettes sparingly, if at all. Neither one is a substitute for eating and sleeping when you need to.
