Heroes of Honor – Tips and Tricks Guide: Hints, Cheats and Strategies

Heroes of Honor is a new real-time strategy game for the iPhone and iPad. The gameplay is sort of what would happen if you mixed Castle Clash with Dragons of Atlantis – it’s arguably more fast paced than DoA is, but the battle mechanic is similar, if more real-time. Your goal is to build up your stockpiles of gold and wood and transform your city into a powerhouse, then join an alliance and try to dominate the entire world. Read on for some tips and tricks for Heroes of Honor!

The battle mechanic is the most innovative part of the game. You can equip your heroes with troops, then send them out into the world to do battle against roaming players, cities, and computer-controlled demons and demon cities. As they battle they use up supplies, and gain wood and gold. It takes awhile for them to recover, so make the most of the supplies that you have by doing as much battle as you possibly can before you send them back to the city.

Grunts can be set to go for either gold or wood. Maximize the amount of grunts that you have at a time, so that you can load up on the resources. When you’re in the process of doing mass-upgrades to buildings (which should be most of the time), set them to collect wood, because you are going to use FAR more of that. Gold is used to train your troops, and you won’t lose too many troops unless you fight insanely hard enemies.

Try not to use your gems all at once. If you do, though, then there are plenty of ways to earn free gems. Complete the quests in order to earn free gems. Also, if you connect to Facebook via the game, you will earn plenty of free gems as well.

When you are on the map, if you are sick of battling or you just want to load up on free goods and troops, look for as many ruins as possible. Land your heroes on one of the ruins, and you’ll pick up a significant amount of free wood and gold, as well as some free troops occasionally.

Don’t forget to set troops on the defense before your shield is up. When you aren’t questing, take your heroes’ troops and put them on the defense side using the encampment. Once you purchase the Gnome Workshop, you’ll be able to craft new items to be used on defense as well.
