Flappy Bird, one of the most frustrating mobile games ever to come out, has become the most popular game on iOS and Android. It’s a simple and effective combination of endless running (or flying), 8 bit graphics, and an insanely hard difficulty level that fosters the desire to beat your friends at the game, just like Snake did back in the day. Read on for some tips and tricks for Flappy Bird!
One of the key things to remember is to stay relaxed while you are playing this game. It’s extremely easy to get frustrated, and the more frustrated that you get, the easier it will be to make stupid mistakes. Take a 15 to 30 minute break from the game if you need to in order to get your concentration back.
The device and its equipment can make a huge difference in the difficulty of the game. If you have a screen protector on your phone, take it off because it can dull your phone’s ability to sense input. If you own a phone and a tablet, play on the tablet, because the large screen makes it easier to judge your position. Also, according to the game’s creator, Dong Nguyen, the game is apparently easier to play on Android devices, although this may change as the game is updated.
Try to come up with a good rhythm. One suggested strategy is to aim for the bottom half of the opening in between two pipes before you hit the screen. It’s easier to avoid the bottom of the pipe than the top of the pipe. Figure out a time to tap, and then tap to a rhythm in your head, even music. You can also tap a little bit faster when approaching the pipe, then let yourself drop between pipes.
There are bronze, silver, and gold medals in the game. 10 points gets you the bronze medal. 20 points will earn you the silver medal, while 30 points will earn you the gold medal and 40 points will earn you a platinum medal. After that, the medals stop, and the main point of the game becomes simply testing yourself, beating your highest score, and sharing it with your friends for bragging rights.
