Flappy Bird Cheats – How to hack the game for high scores on both iOS and Android

Flappy Bird has driven plenty of gamers to the point of insanity – to the point that they would be willing to hack the game, mess with the atlas.txt file, or mess with their high scores in order to simply make it on the leaderboard, or to try and top it. There are plenty of ways to do just that, for both the iOS and Android versions of the game. Read on to find out how!

First, the disclaimer. We’re not responsible for anything you do to your game that screws it up. Hacks naturally present a risk to the game, so keep that in mind. If you screw up your game, simply delete the app, and then reinstall it and it will be back to normal.

Hacking the iOS version is easy. Some have reported that you need a jailbreak for it, but for the vast majority, it will be unnecessary. The first step is to download iExplorer on your computer. Launch the program, and then connect your iOS device to the computer. Go hunting for the Flappy Birds folder (flap.app is the name of it.) and open up the Atlas.txt file.

From here you can do one of two things. Go down to where it says pipe_down and pipe_up. Change the numbers to -30 270 for the pipe down and -30 242 for pipe up if you want to pass right through pipes. Change them to pipe down 250 1 and pipe up 52 1 if you want to change them into little lines that are easy to pass over and under. If you want to put both of these effects on the pipes, change both numbers to -30 1. NOTE: Leave every number to the right of the main two numbers alone.

On the Android platform, you can hack it and directly edit your score, but first, you will need to root your phone and delete Flappy Bird. Then, download Root Explorer and ES File Explorer File Manager. Then install Flappy Birds again and enable Root Explorer. After you do that, go to the ES File Explorer, go to tools, then device > data > data > Flappy Bird > shared prefs > flappybird.xml. Use the note editor function, and then you’ll be able to change the score. Then, once you open the app back up, that new number will be listed as your high score.
