PILE – Tips and Tricks Guide: Hints, Cheats and Strategies

PILE is a new game for the iPhone, iPad, and other iOS devices. It’s a puzzle game with a simple yet frustrating and addictively frantic tone, almost Dr. Mario-esque. You have four blocks, each consisting of two different colored blocks, at the top of the screen, and you can match three of the same color (or more), but the blocks pile up when you run out of time, which happens more and more quickly. Read on for some tips and tricks for PILE!

In order to eliminate three blocks, they have to be all in a row, either vertically or horizontally. However, any block of the same color that is connected to that matching row will be eliminated, as well. Try to stack as many of the same colored block together as you can before using up the fourth block in the current batch.

The X blocks are a major nuisance. Getting rid of the white X blocks is simple, though. All you have to do is make a bomb combo near them, and they will completely disappear. However, later on in levels you will have falling white-X blocks, and there is nothing that you can do with them. All that you can do is work around them.

Don’t forget about the power ups which appear on the screen as you play. They will scroll by and if you don’t get them, they will be gone forever. Don’t bother tapping on the ones in red, as these are booby traps. Let them scroll by and tap the other colored ones instead.

If you accidentally screw up and drop a block before you change it to the color configuration that you want to, you can tap the screen as it’s falling and it will switch around again.

When the timer really starts to get going quickly, simply drop shapes as quickly as you can and try to make whatever combinations that you can until you get to the next level. When you’re at the next level, then the timer will slow down, although as you play, it will gradually speed back up again.
