As previously noted, if you take a screen capture of any stage, you can then go back and review it while the game is paused, allowing you to find everything fast without pressing any incorrect buttons. You can also zoom in on the screen as much or as little as you want to from picture mode. Plus, you can look throughout the stage for items that aren’t even on the top bar yet. It will come in handy to know where they are later on in the game.
Even so, there is a limit as to how fast you can get stars, because the more stars you earn in one single level, the more points you will need to get for the next star to be complete. Do the above trick with the screen captures and skip from level to level, rather than playing the same stage over and over, if you want to earn more stars.
When you’re in it for coins, however, that never slows down. With that considered, go for the stages with the largest amount of items that you have to find per go. The more items that you’re required to search out, the more potential points that you can earn, which translates to more coins than stages which have small amounts of items to hunt for (e.g. 5 or 6 items)
Zoom in on a stage and scroll around to narrow down the search. When you’re zoomed on an area with an active item in it, the name of that item will glow on the top bar; otherwise, if it’s not on the zoomed part of the screen, it will be darkened. If it’s darkened, keep scrolling around until you find it. Work towards memorizing locations so well that you never need to zoom in, but use the zoom-in tool when you’re really stuck on an item.
Sync your progress with Facebook if you haven’t already. Not only can you and your friends send energy back and forth, as previously mentioned, but you can also use your Facebook information to switch devices easily, simply by logging into the same Facebook account on a new device as on the current one. If you want it to not post anything for you on Facebook ever, hit “skip” when the popup that says “CSI: Hidden Crimes would like to post on your behalf” pops up. This will even keep it from posting when you hit the share button though, so be careful.
If you have more than one device, use this trick to move your game from your iPhone or iPod to your iPad. CSI: Hidden Crimes is FAR easier to play with the bigger screen, because oftentimes on the small screen it is impossible to see or to accurately tap the item that you are searching for.
