Fallout Shelter was just released, and already it might be the fastest growing iPhone and iPad game of all time. Seriously, it only took about 15 minutes to reach number one in the entire App Store. This game is a sort of underground city builder, putting you in charge of the residents of one of the underground vaults from Fallout. Your goal is to manage their lives and keep them happy while collecting water, food, power, caps, and lunch boxes full of prizes. Read on for some tips and tricks for Fallout Shelter!
You can use the time lapse cheat and set the time ahead on your phone or tablet in order to skip all of the timers and instantly rush every building that you have. However, with few exceptions, the timers are so short that it is a little bit pointless to do unless you are really sick of having failed rushes but you are really sick of waiting around as well. This is more useful for quick Stimpaks and Radaways.
Don’t grow the vault too quickly or you will end up stuck with all of your residents unhappy because they are lacking in food and water. Let new Dwellers sit outside of the vault for as long as possible, because they will never need food or water and they will always be happy as long as they are sitting outside of the vault. You can also use this time to analyze them, and figure out which rooms of yours need specific residents who have specific talents.
Put two or three of the same room next to each other. When you have two or three of the same room next to each other and they are at the same upgrade level, they will combine into a version of the same room that is 2-3x as large and that can hold double to triple the amount of residents. It will take longer for the room to be eady if you keep the same amount of Dwellers in the room, but you can add more (4 for 2x and 6 for 3x) and shorten the time. You will get double or triple the amount of product.
Lunchboxes are fun to earn and you can earn free lunch boxes by completing quests. Don’t cash them in right away if you can help it. Instead, try to save them for when you really need more caps, more of the three sustenance items, or more residents. Keep completing the quests in order to earn more free lunch boxes.
Sending someone out into the wasteland is risky business, but it has to be done in order to earn rewards. Get your initial equipment from the lunchboxes and make sure to week with whoever you send out with the best possible clothing and weapons. Monitor their progress consistently because the longer that they are out for, the better their chances of getting killed. However, the longer that you leave them in the wasteland, the better the rewards that they have a chance of earning.
You will always feel like you need to earn more energy, food, and water, but if one vault gets really hopeless, go back to the main menu and start a new vault, putting into use what you have learned since you started the old one. you may even end up wanting to delete the old vault and keep the new one around. You can have up to 3 vaults at a time so keep doing this until you are satisfied with what you have.
