FIFA 09 is going to be the latest installment in the FIFA soccer series of video games produced by EA Sports, a sports games division of Electronic Arts. It will be the 16th installment in the main series and the successor to FIFA 08. The game will be releasing on October 14, 2008 in North America whereas European and Australian release will be around 10 days before the American release. FIFA 09 is ready to be launched for PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, DS, Xbox 360 and mobile phones. FIFA 09 demo for PC has just been released today. FIFA 09 like its predecessor can be played in both single player and multiplayer online versions. Over 250 improvements have been done in the game over FIFA 08. Some of the improved features of the game are it takes less processing time, instant football release, improved collision system, better goalkeeper positioning, better reactions from players, improved player performance etc. Now in FIFA 09, player can also switch weather conditions before the start of the play and now you can play the game during day, night and even dusk. Animations in the FIFA 09 are also highly improved over the predecessor.

But it is absolutely wrong to say it as an improved version of the FIFA 08. A unique feature introduced in the FIFA 09 is ?0 vs. 10: player match. And all the stadiums and crowd featuring the game will be geographically targeted.

FIFA 09 will also be featuring an Adidas Live Season ranking system that shows the real world抯 ranks of all the featured players based on their performance in real world football matches. There will be a new game mode for Xbox 360 version and PlayStation 3 version- FIFA 09 Clubs which players of all nations can join to compete against other clubs. There will be special club managers for the FIFA 09 Clubs mode. FIFA 09 will feature 500 teams including 40 national teams distributed in 30 leagues. There will be special tournament mode in the PC version of the game. FIFA 09 features will vary highly over platforms it will be releasing on. FIFA 09 soundtrack will consist of total of 42 songs taken from 21 countries.
