PKR Rakeback - Rakeback Explained

Many poker players make a fundamental mistake when joining a new poker site which over a period of time can cost them thousands of pounds or dollars. This mistake for many can determine if the player (long term) is a winning or losing player. So what is it I can almost hear you saying? Well it is simply claiming a rakeback deal which is in effect getting the poker site to repay a percentage of the fees you pay to them.

Firstly let me explain what rake is! Every real money game you play on an online poker site a charge is made. Lets say for example you are playing a $10 ten seater sit and go. You will find that the actual cost is $10 + 50c. The 50c is the rake the poker site charges you to play the game. Also, every cash hand played at the end of the hand up to 5% is taken by the poker site. From a total pot of $10 50c will be raked from the hand. This is of course how online poker sites make a profit from your play. So you probably realise by now that rakeback is the repayment of a percentage of these fees to the poker player. Many poker sites do have rakeback deals but these are not advertised on the actual poker sites. To find these deals you need to sign up to the poker site through an affiliate site.

As there are many poker sites offering different rakeback deals I抦 going to simply detail the PKR rakeback deal so you get a good understanding of how rakeback works. Initially the rake may only seem to be a very small fee and not be worth the effort worrying about, this though is not the case. Lets for instance say we are a small volume player who plays $10 + 50c sit and gos and plays 10 games a night 5 nights per week. The total rake paid each night would be 10 x .50c = $5. The total rake per week would be 5 x $5 = $25, so the total rake per month would be $100. PKR offer a 30% rakeback deal so at the start of the following month you would be paid $30 into your account. Over a year this is $360! Playing cash games or even higher buyin sngs or playing a higher volume and you can generate hundreds in rake each month.

I have chosen PKR as an example as the play is the softest of the online poker sites by far. Also one or two of the affiliates offer both a rakeback and a bonus deal which will give you an even better return. Beware though! If you sign up without a rakeback deal in many cases the site will not switch you to a rakeback deal at a later date.

So remember before signing up to any site make sure you check if a rakeback deal is available. If you don抰 you are simply giving your money away!
